Will be getting ARC next month. Should I upgrade Play:1 to One or SL as surrounds? Since ARC has GA built in do I need surrounds to have GA capability too?
I’ve read a bunch of “fix-it” docs on here but none really with what I’m seeing. I have no issues with my actual speakers playing music. I have 2 Sonos 5, 3 Sonos 1, and HT system. None have problems connecting or playing music. But the app is horrible lately. Every time I go to access the app, the “Rooms” section shows maybe 2 of my speakers, but when I go into “Settings/System” they’re all showing up. So I know it “sees” them. Or maybe not, is “System” connected to my account and not what it sees on the network? When I’m in “Rooms” it only shows a few of them. Then, it takes forever for the app to connect to all of my music sources (i.e. Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, etc). As I type, right now I can only see 2 speakers in “Rooms”. When I go to “Settings/System” I can see all my speakers. But I can’t pause the music on the app. I don’t believe it’s an issue with my wifi network (Orbi Mesh network). All speakers are connected wirelessly, but as mentioned above don’t have any issue wi
Will I be able to experience the full Dolby Atmos sound with my 65” LG SK8000 PUA TV with the Arc soundbar?
I just got a Beam and i’m trying to connect it to my brand new Vizio TV. The Audio is on Dolby, the CEC is enabled. On the CEC screen on the TV it shows the Sonos Bar, however on the Sonos app (for setup) cannot “find” the TV. What am I doing wrong? I have unplugged the TV several times, Nothing else is plugged into the T. The only HDMI into the TV is the Beam. I have checked multiple times that the HDMI into the TV is in the ARC HDMI. Super Frustrated that it has been so difficult to get this set up!
Hey all, I just had a pair of Sonos One SL speakers delivered. Lots of good, I love the look and sound. However, I'm disappointed I cant send PC, TV and Phone audio directly to the One SL, of particular interest is the PC. Ideally, I wish it had Bluetooth or even just a 3.5cm Jack. However, I am sure there is a way to create a streaming service with the UPnP, or some other method I'm not yet aware of. Can anyone recommend a neat solution? I have tried a few searches that recommended apps but with no success yet from any of them. I also don't want to buy more kit so please keep recommendations to this scope. Technical detail is fine, I am willing to code the app myself. I can code in any language or platform.
Hi, I’ve just recently become a sonos user. I have a setup with two B&W 702s connected to a Sonos Amp (they serve as front speakers) and two Sonos One SL for for rear speakers. Also there is a Sonos Sub gen2. It all works fairly well with my tv as a surround home theatre (even if it’s just 4.1). However… when listening to music I would really prefer the rear speakers to be inactive and the B&W speakers together with the sub do all the work. So, my question is - is it possible to somehow deactivate the Sonos One SL speakers when playing music? Just to be clear, I realise I could remove the Sonos One SL from the room setup and then add them when I want to watch a movie - but I don't want to have to that all the time. I switch between movies and music quite a lot. I seem to remember someone saying it was possible to “turn off” the rear speakers but I have not been able to find that setting or perhaps they where just misinformed. Does anyone know what is possible in this context? I
After a full charge, paired phone with blutooth, returned to wifi; turned unit off just to test on/off function and couldn’t get it to turn back on.My wife held the power button for approx. 20 seconds and it returned to life; she said she had had a similar problem with her Oasis tablet…..unsettling to have a brand new product perform like that… In any case, try the press and hold option if speaker won’t power up.. Disappointed so far; have 7 other Sonos speakers with no problems..
Hello! I have been trying (and failing) to get our Sonos speakers going! They worked last summer but am having difficulty now. Sonos is not even an option in Bluetooth. I also keep getting a message that it needs to update but then is unable to. Any advice?! Thanks!
I have 2 Sonos speakers ( both of them are Play 1). Am I able to connect these speakers to my TV? It’s a TCL ROKU TV.
Hello, It has already been answered and closed but I guess the more people asking for the same feature the more it might get prioritized. I can only agree to below link and request. I would really like to have a default streaming output when there is no history or cache to refer to. Only pressing play on my sonos and always knowing it will play my favourite radio channel or my spotify playlist - IF there is no stored history to resume from. Power surge whatever reason. Also missing in the other post I think… I also would like to have the possibility to reset the history at eg 3AM so that if I want to have a specific radio channel in the morning it will always play that. And not the music playlist I had late the evening before. Another way to solve this would be to long press play or double tap…. on the play button to play a predefined streaming service. https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/default-playlist-when-queue-is-empty-6833731 personally this is a mis
Hi all, Was watching this interview with a couple folks from Sonos introducing the Arc. At the 41:37 mark, the Sonos guy mentions that when the Arc is paired with Ones for rear surround, the side firing speakers on the Arc are turned off. Can anyone confirm this? If so, what is the benefit of doing this (something about increasing sound pressure)? Thanks!
Is there any workarounds to get multichannel audio on the Sonos Arc when the source has DTS encoded audio? Over half of my library has DTS audio, and as I consider purchasing the Arc, I wondered if there are any workarounds to get multichannel audio with the new Arc, or will it be reduced to stereo as DTS is unsupported?
Can i add the the sonos move as rear speakers as i really do not want any more wires.
My phone connects with no problem to the Move using Bluetooth, my wife’s phone finds the Move with Bluetooth on her phone, BUT...my MacBook Pro doesn’t ever show the Move in Bluetooth, no matter how close my laptop is to the Move. Any ideas as to why?
I have 5 Sonos speakers and loved waking up to my local radio station and being able to listen in every room. My local station recently stopped streaming on all of the radio apps. I want to purchase a stereo receiver that will connect to my Sonos system. What receiver will work and what other equipment is needed? I will be looking to sell my Sonos if I can’t find a solution. I believe Yamaha has a system that works with receivers. Thank you in advance.
Hi everyone, I’m doing a new build with some Sonos in ceiling speakers. Does anyone know if the Sonos in ceiling speakers have a compatible installation bracket I can put in before the drywall goes up? Sonance has medium round flex brackets for new construction for their round speakers which are pretty close in size to the Sonos versions and use the same Roto-lock installation, but the spec sheet looks like they’re a little over 1/4” wider in diameter. Any experience you can share would be helpful. Thanks.
With S2 coming and the updated groups feature, will you be able to easily have a speaker not only just be in multiple groups, but also move rooms with ease? Here is an example scenario to make sense of the question. You have a Sub and it’s paired with playbar for a TV set up. In the same room you have two Play Ones set up for stereo music. Could you have the Sub easily join with the two Play Ones for a better experience with the stereo sound when the TV playbar is not in use. This way you can utilize the benefits of the sub in both the stereo set up as well as the TV set up without cluttering the small space with a second sub. This comes into play in many open spaces like condos where kitchens and living spaces are side by side. We don’t want to use the playbar for music as the stereo sound and separation is better with Ones or play 5’s but the One’s lack the bass. Since they are in close proximity to the TV set up it would be ideal to have a preset where the sub could join the ot
As you can see from the photo, I currently have an old, cheap Visio sound bar in the bottom area of the entertainment center. I’d like a new ARC or Beam by I worry that this placement means any top or side firing speakers are essentially blocked. Am I just waisting money by putting an ARC or Beam in there? There really is no room anywhere else for it. I can’t wall mount the TV, and the TV’s stand is so short that any sound bar will cover the bottom of the screen if set in front.
Hi! New owner introduced to the Sonos family as of this weekend, picked up a pair of One SL’s to be used in the garage. Previously I’ve been an all HomePod guy. So here is my issue, and let me know if this is simply just not a feature of non-Apple speakers via AirPlay. With my HomePods, I have each designated to specific rooms - and to play I hit the AirPlay button, scroll to select desired room, browse music and play. By this method, all sound is completely separated from my phone, IE: if I wanted to pull up YouTube the sound will go through my phone and the music will be uninterrupted on the speakers. Also, adjusting my phones volume with the buttons will do just that, adjust my phones volume and not the speaker volume. I figured this would be exactly how it would work on a non-Apple speaker when connected to HomeKit. To my dismay, my ‘Garage’ room completely disappeared from the AirPlay toggle once I removed my HomePod from that room and added the two Sonos One’s. The only way
Hi. I am an happy owner of SONOS (one Play:1 and one Play:5, gen.2). Very excited about the Arc soundbar news. I would love to get an upgrade to my Home Theatre (an old 5.1 Panasonic combo with Blue Ray, dated 2012), but I still have some doubts before spending such an amount of money. I have a few questions, maybe you can help me. My TV is a wonderful LG OLED65C8PLA (2018). I use it also with Netflix, Amazon Prime video and it is connected to a Sky Q, It has also Dolby Atmos, but being from 2018 I am not sure its ARC can be upgraded to the eARC. The question is: connecting it to Arc soundbar will properly manage to process Atmos and all other newest audio formats? If I will decide to buy the Arc soundbar, the idea is to set up a whole new HT, including also the new Sub (3rd gen). The question is which rear device to use: would it be enough to buy another Play:1 (if I find it)? Would it be much different with two new One SL? Or, last possibility, another Play.5: it would be much more
Just received the email about the Dolby Atmos supported Sonos Arc. Jumping out of my skin with excitement but what do I do with my current Playbar? Will there be a trade offer available for loyal customers?
I am considering Sonos AMP with Monitor Audio speakers and turntable but I want to output TV sound to AMP via HDMI ARC. I also have PS4 and satellite box with HDMI connectors. However I only have one hidden HDMI cable to/from TV and I do not want to have additional exposed HDMI cables from the PS4, etc. I am trying to work out if an HDMI switch/splitter will solve the problem, and if so, what spec should I be looking for. Is it possible to connect HDMI ARC out from TV to switch/splitter input and then connect switch/splitter HDMI output to AMP HDMI, and also connect PS4 to switch/splitter HDMI input to get to the TV as in diagram below ? If possible, any downsides ? Or is there another way of achieving the same result that I am missing ? Thanks
When looking at the inventory in my Sonos account I see “modern product” listed. Does this mean these Sonos components are newer and will not be part of the phase out of older products in May 2020?
Hi, I am going to upgrade to the new arc Soundbar. I already have x2 play 3s and a sub to give me 5.1. My question is, if I keep my existing setup, albeit add an arc for atmos it would give me 5.2.1, which is the minimum required for atmos. If I also add x2 one sl speakers, can they be used as 2 speakers to give me 5.4.1 (x2 up firing speakers in the arc and x2 rear one sl's on the ceiling/top of wall point down? Thanks in advance Paul.
Is it right to assume that the RCA inputs of a Connect/Amp/Port will provide a better Vinyl experience than the Line-In of a Play:5? Thinking about for multi-room L-R speaker separation… Thanks!
