I am going to upgrade to the new arc Soundbar. I already have x2 play 3s and a sub to give me 5.1. My question is, if I keep my existing setup, albeit add an arc for atmos it would give me 5.2.1, which is the minimum required for atmos. If I also add x2 one sl speakers, can they be used as 2 speakers to give me 5.4.1 (x2 up firing speakers in the arc and x2 rear one sl's on the ceiling/top of wall point down?

No. There is no way to get 5.4.1, only 5.2.1.

OK thank you. That is a shame, I was under the impression you could add more up firing speakers. Is there anyway you can do this or would you not really tell the difference?

Well,the One SL isn’t an upfiring speaker, so until Sonos comes out with one, it’s not possible. Whether they will or not remains to be seen. However, if given a guess, I think 5.2.1 is going to be it.
