Hello. So I have to run a cat 6 cable over hdmi , with HDMI converters on each side. I’m currently doing it with my tv signal. But I want to do it with my amp so my sound can be heard through my speakers. So When my cable box is on or my Apple TV is on I get great sound The reason for this is because my wire run is too long for a normal HDMI run. Over 50 ft. I’m s there a cat 6 to HDMI convertors that support this. Or is there anyone that has done this with either a super long HDMI or the way I’m describing. Also.the next curve ball is the tv system I’m speaking about is outdoors. Tv , speakers, etc. all my components are obviously inside. So a rather use a cat 6. Not sure if they have outdoor rated hdmi. Thanks.
Hi, Hopefully you can help out - I’ve searched high and low for an answer but can’t find it. I have a number of Sonos speakers dotted around 5 rooms of the house (Play:1’s and Play:5’s). I’m seriously considering buying the Sonos Home cinema setup with new Arc, Sub and 2 surrounds but want to know something first. Will it allow me to: Watching for example a concert on YouTube through the TV and Home cinema setup, can I ‘group’ other rooms with the HomeCinema setup to hear that music in sync around the house? And similarly, if listening to music in some of my 5 existing rooms, can i also select the HomeCinema setup and hear the music from that as well? Thanks, Jonny
Apparently we are getting a brand new app and OS for our Sonos kit later this year. Does it mean Playbar will eventually get DTS support?
S2 is on the horizon and there is talk of support for HD audio - are there any plans to add support for Dolby Digital Plus, LPCM and even DTS over the Beam's HDMI ARC? It would resolve a lot of long standing issues enabling surround audio with certain Chromecast apps and other devices...
If I upgrade my compatible speakers to S2, is it possible to then move them back to S1 (so they can be used again with my older units) or are they forever S2? And is it a headache to switch them back? Ideally I’d like to be able to keep all my speakers on S1, and then on occasion use a few of them on S2 and then go back to S1. My guess is that won’t be an easy process.
Hi all Have our new Sonos Arc Arriving tomorrow - sadly our TV (LG Oled b6) will not pass atmos through Arc as far as I know. I was wondering if anyone knows of anyway I could hear a teaser of atmos in action on the arc through the app some how I will I need to wait till have a TV which will support it? Thanks!
Howdy, I’ve had the Move a week. The sound is much better than the HomePod speaker I sold to buy the Move. When I fist set the Move up it worked fine. But ever since I took it off the charger once, I’ve had a problem. The problem I’m having is that it disappears in my Output Device list. To get it to reappear I have to turn Wi-Fi off/on. Last night it happened. I turned Wi-Fi off/on, the Move was back in the Output list. Then this morning when I got up, it wasn’t in the list -- see attached screenshot. The fix was to turn Wi-Fi off/on. The Move wasn’t asleep, or at least I don’t believe it is. This morning I tried pressing the sleep button, after reading the forum. Didn’t help. The only thing that seems to help is turning Wi-Fi on/off. I submitted diagnostics - 1473451241. Gracias,
After downloading and installing today’s new app release, every time I launch the app it asks me to turn on Bluetooth to access accessories, but I don’t understand why since none of my Sonos speakers have Bluetooth. If I turn it on the banner goes away in future launches, but if I turn off Bluetooth, it again asks for me to turn it on during launch. This is annoying and I don’t know why it needs Bluetooth turned on, does anyone know why this is happening? Btw the version is 11.1
Hi All, I am new to this so firstly apologies if this is a silly question or I am posting in the wrong forum. I have a Panasonic TX-50EX700B and I am super tempted by the upcoming Sonos Arc, Sub and One SL combo. I have a fairly serious home cinema set up now (Onkyo TXNR636 amp and Dali Zensor 5 5.1 speakers). I also have several play 1’s dotted around the house and the outgoing connect in the lounge counnected to the Onkyo and Dali’s. The Connect probably gets the most use via the surround system for music throughout the day. With the trade up programme I am tempted to simplify everything and get an Arc and Sub and a couple more Play 1’s. Writing this I have realised I actually have two questions: Should I just replace the connect with the new Port (hasn’t had a great review from what hifi) and carry on as I am If I go for the Arc, where can I find out if I will get Dolby Atmos, or Dolby True HD or Dolby Digital Plus? Seems odd it isn’t just written anywhere (i’m also aware this is p
My iPad and iPhone auto upgraded to S1 Controller and went to play music and no speakers found. Tried to rejoin system and got repeated message system not found. Reset Play:1 device and tried to join to the system, no luck. On hard reset Play:1 went through setup for network, but then failed on making a system at the chime, even though it joined the network fine. All speakers still on the same network and data transmits are going back and forth. Just cant get any of them to join a new or existing system. I don’t want to go resetting my sound bar etc in case I cant get it back. Any ideas appreciated.
I recently purchased two Connect:Amps via Craigslist, both work well. One does not have the label on the Botton and has blue rubber feet: Connect:Amp: Bedroom 2 Serial Number: 00-0E-58-D0-61-B2:A Version: 10.2 (build 50165071) Hardware Version: 1.16.3.1-1 Series ID: P100 IP Address: 192.168.1.199 WM: 0 OTP: 1.1.1 (1—16-3-0.9) The other one appears newer and has a different icon on the top button (see image: Bedroom 2 is bottom, Playroom 2 top). Connect:Amp: Playroom 2 Serial Number: 5C-AA-FD-E0-23-EC:0 Version: 10.2 (build 50165071) Hardware Version: 1.17.3.1-1 Series ID: C100 IP Address: 192.168.1.198 WM: 0 OTP: 1.1.1 (1-17-3-2.1) I looking to find out if they have same specs and perhaps how old they are. Thanks
I currently have a Sonos Move, and use it primarily outside on my patio. It sounds good but I have a big backyard and would like to added volume. I’m considering buying a 2nd Move and setting them up in stereo. Any issues paring these in stereo when they are off the charging base? I know they can’t be paired in blutetooth mode, but I keep them on my wifi when outside, so that’s not an issue? Also anyone using 2 moves in stereo...any thoughts on the sounds when compared to just a single speaker in mono? Thanks.
Updated entire system to S2. All went very smoothly as usual with Sonos. Should I now uninstall the redundant S1 controller?
My current home theater setup is a Sony 4k Projector VPL-VW285ES, Xbox OneX - that is connected to Sonos Playbar. i have a Sub and a pair of Play 3 speakers in this setup. I am interested to get Sonos Arc for Dolby Atmos upgrade but I am finding conflicting information on how to do this setup / if at all this setup would work now. Please help.
I have a vintage Bridge and a Play:5 (Gen 1), neither of which are S2 compatible. My Play:5 (Gen 1) is trade-up eligible. Is the trade-up to a Play:5 (Gen 2)? I can't trade-up my Bridge. And I don't see a "Gen 2 Bridge" in the S2 compatible products list. What would I purchase to replace my Bridge with? Can I get a new bridge or equivalent (fresh purchase) and a new Play:5 (via 'trade-up') and still keep my old/original gear and set up two systems, one vintage and one new? Or am I required to send the Play:5 (Gen 1) back to you?
With S2 out in the wild, I was wondering if anyone can test if local control with UPNP still works before I take the plunge (since I am unsure if I can rollback). I use Sonos with my home automation setup and it relies on the UPNP API not the cloud API.
Is there any possible way to set up a Microphone/Karaoke system with the soon to be released Sonos Ark. My thought process is the following: Purchase a Bluetooth mic from amazon and set it up with my LG C9 Tv while my Ark is hooked via an HDMI eARC input. Then I would either play a youtube video or stream a song via airpay in hopes that I can use a mic to sing along. What are your thoughts? would this work? if Not, does anyone know of a way to achieve this setup?
I have a number of Sonos devices, some legacy some ‘modern’. with the introduction of S2, can I select which of my newer devices to move over to the S2 app? I have a legacy connect that I usually group with an S2 compatible Play3 - To enable me to continue to group these I want to keep both on S1, while moving the other kit over to S2.
Hi, I have 3 speakers connect to my Sonos AMP; (I forgot to add the single BluCube speaker is wired to both left + right channels of the amp.) 2 x Peavey WS-82T wall speakers: 150w max + 8ohms 1 x BluCube BCK80 ceiling speaker: 150w max + 8ohms When i turn the volume up high the amp is faulting (slow flash orange and white). The manual says the AMP can power 2 sets of speakers with 8ohms resistance, so any ideas what the problem is?
Hi Guys, I currently have a 5.1 setup with beam and two play ones. I’m satisfied with the rear sounds but the front left & right channel separation gets lost because it’s all in one unit. Unless you stand right in front of the beam, you won’t get the feel of it. How do the 4.1 setup with the Amp sounds? Do you get to feel the front left & right channel separation much clearer than a soundbar?
EDIT: My indexing has just finished with an error saying there’s not enough space. So I guess that question has been answered. A real shame, as backwards-compatibility was often the reason given for not increasing the index size. OK, S2 has now hit the streets and the question that’s been on everyone’s lips (well, mine and and maybe a couple of other people!) is… Has the 65K track limit been increased now? Ever since Sonos removed the http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1400/status/tracks_summary screen it’s been impossible for users to see their index size without going through support. I’m currently reindexing mine to see, but it’s kinda tricky to spot missing tracks when the collection is that large!
I’m wondering if there will be desktop controller versions (macOS, Windows) of the S2 app, or just mobile controllers. Has any information been released about this?
Hi, just curious if anyone knows of a way to control the Sonos speaker (e.g. Play 5) volume with a physical hardware volume knob. Like if I am using the Sonos App on my computer, is there any way to control the Sonos volume with a USB device like this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B06XPH7FFJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions!
my tv is from 2019 and for the moment i don't want to change it has hdmi arc support for dd + is available, will i be able to have even compressed atmos ?? Tanks
The ARC looks very interesting. I now have a Boost, Beam with a Sub and 2 Play:1s as rear channels. Is it possible to just replace the Beam with an Arc and keep the same setup?
