What about an option for maximum volume on startup? I often enjoy my Sonos at high volume. However, when using it the next time a neighbour-friendly volume level by default would be helpful.
Hi guys, I have 3 Play:1’s in my livingroom. Two of them were paired and also set up with trueplay for some time now. Today I bought an extra Play:1 to fill a part of the living room where the sounds was less intense. Obviously I can’t make a pair with three of them. But can I do trueplay on them so the sound of the three speakers join well together? How can I do this for all of them? Thanks in advance !! Vincent
Currently we have a Playbar, Sub and two Play 3's for the surround in our main living area. It's a large space, the Playbar has always served us well but looking at upgrading. We have just moved and will not be mounting the TV at this new place. Wondering wether to purchase a Beam because it's newer and will be fine or the Playbase?
Hi, I really want to get a couple of sonos systems, but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy them in Hong Kong. Most of the audio & video dealers I have talked to claim there is no agent in Hong Kong. Is that true? Does that mean I cannot buy a Sonos system in Hong Kong? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
I have a Play:5 in the kitchen, a Play:1 in the office and the 5.1 setup in the living room (Playbar, Sub and Play:3 satellites). I like to start the day playing radio at a specific volume on all zones, and depending on what I did the day before, I need to manually group zones and adjust volume for all zones, which is quite cumbersome. It would be great to save a preset that does this automatically and even starts playing the radio station I want, or playlist, or artist etc. It could also just be a preset that just adjust volume for some/all zones without affecting currently playing music. Or it could be stopping music on all zones that might not be grouped. On Android there's a 3rd party app called Macronos that enables something similar to what I want, but we need to have it better and on all controllers.
Hi all, I'm currently orientating on purchasing a 5.1 system with the new Sonos Beam, two Sonos One's and a Sonos Sub. Now my guestion is, should I wait with the Sub? Out of these items the Sub will be the biggest investment, yet the one not supporting HDMI ARC and voice recognition. It would be a pity to have a '2018 system' running with an out of date Sub within the near future, limiting the possibilities of the overall system. Of course Sonos will not share their roadmap.... Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
Sonos was recently modified to allow broadcasting via WIFI without a Bridge or Boost. This is a great option. I would suggest a further, related enhancement. In large homes it is common to have 2 or more access points to provide strong WIFI throughout the house. The current deployment of Sonos over WIFI works with multiple access points on the same subnet only if you use the same SSID for all access points. While there are some advantages to using the same SSID for "roaming" it is often found that many phones and laptops do not automatically switch to the stronger signal of the closest access point if they can still get a signal (albeit weak) from the further access point they originally connected to. To address this many of us use different SSIDs (still on same subnet) so users can manually connect to the stronger signal if desired when moving around the house. Unfortunately the current Sonos iphone software will not find you system if you ch
As sonos have not (yet) released an upgrade path from the playbar for HT, I’ve decided to look for an alternative, but hopefully one which will still integrate in some way with the overall Sonos system to enable whole house music. Ideally I’d like to get something like an Onlyo device that will work well with Sonos. Current Requirements: I have an old HD TV, but it still works fine and has a great picture so the receiver needa to be able to connect and oresent the image to a Pioneer KRP-600m. Sonos Connect Apple TV 4k Playstation 3 Freeview Tuner In the future I may upgrade to a 4k TV, once 85” OLEDs or similar at the high end drop a little in price.i will eventually add a 4k disk player and additional speakers for full Atmos support. Initially I plan a simpler 5.1 - ideally with wireless surrounds and/or sub. But I’m prepared to go wired if there are not compatible reliable and quality option. I’ll add a Sonos connect to enable the integration with the rest
If i buy the sonos beam does anyone have a suggestions to how i can use my playbase in other parts of my house
Why does the PlayBar not support Dolby Digital Plus decoding? Is this a hardware vs software issue? It pains my soul to have to go into the Netflix audio settings and select stereo output when I'm sitting here with this glorious PlayBar that should be capable of delivering the beauty of full blown surround. Is it possible to do some sort of a software update that would enable the decoding of DD+ from Netflix via the Roku (which is sending the signal as a passthrough)?
Hi all, I recently (stupidly?) brought an Apple TV 4K to replace my Nvidia Shield. 5.1 seems to work fine with built in apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime. The problem is it won’t play 5.1 audio through to my Sonos setup when using Kodi. It worked fine before on the Shield. It’s practically the same setup. Does anyone with a similar setup have issues or the right settings they could share? Thanks, Mark
The Play 5 constantly cuts in and out when grouped with TV Sonos Playbar. Is there a simple fix for this? The play 5 when grouped with any other speakers (primarily Play1) there is no issue.
When using the pre-outs of the ZonePlayer into a receiver or Pre/pro, and then having that unit process the signal in any way that requires digitizing the input, there is obviously a slight delay. Using the speaker outputs of the zoneplayer in an area close by results in the dreaded "echo" effect. Most receivers (newer/better) have adjustable delay, but it doesn't do any good in this case, as the signal is already delayed too much. If the zoneplayer had a programmable / adjustable delay for the speaker output only, you could utilize the built in amplifier (which is actually quite good, by my ears.) This would be a VERY usefull addition. - Thanks Chris
As you may have heard, Sonos just unveiled a new soundbar. It is about half the size of the current PlayBar. I'm sure there is a market for it and it will do great, but for me this is the wrong direction.
When will we get a new Playbar?! Perhaps in 2018?!
We might finally get a new one. Including HDMI 2.1. The guy who posted the topic on reddit soon deleted it after it was posted possibly because he actually wasnt allowed to post it? If you click on his profile you'll find posts where he do everything in his power to make the post "less likely" and told people it was false. I think he fucked up revealing sensitive information. (since Sonos is too private about their releases and upcoming stuff) Rumoured source: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:PMYMBHFS8QoJ:https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/7vm79v/leak_the_next_sonos_sound_bar_will_have_hdmi/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=dk https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1517993468
So, had the sonos 5.1 (2 x play1 + playbar + sub). Now i have the heos 5.1 (2 x heos 3 + heos bar(the big one) + heos sub). Thought id share my experience. Round 1: app interface Sonos clear winner (there was a update some time back, that put the two apps on par for a periode, but now that sonos ended their absurd app-experiment, and are back to a user friendly app, sonos steamrolls heos). Sonos is so far ahead that i connected a sonos connect to the heos speakers, so that the heos speakers act as part of the sonos eco system. Heos is NOT wife-friendly! I would almost go as far as to say Heos is wife-hostile! Round 2: Esthetic/Looks Sonos clear winner, heos looks like sh*t in comparisson. This goes for all heos products, except the sub, where heos is more discrete. The heos soundbar, and the heos 3´s look horrible. Any time we have guests over we put the heos 3 speakers in a drawer. Round 3: music sound: Close, but heos seems to have an advantage when exclusi
Hi guys. Could you please help me set up a solution for my bedroom audio? I am purchasing a tv projector and would like to find a sonos solution to listen to audio from the projector, and also audio streamed from spotify. I wanted to have two speakers working as stereo and have a subwoofer as well. Unfortunately, sonos soundbar or soundbase are not an option because there is no room to fit them. A regular receiver would be a solution, but I would rather go with some sonos solution. I though that maybe sonos connect:amp could work, linking the projector to two play1 speakers (maybe play 3 or 5), and then I could add a subwoofer grouped to the speakers. Do you think this solution seems reasonable? And possible? Thanks so much!
Hi. I actually enlisted all my Sonos for sale, as I think Sonos isn't up to date and actually doesn't have the visions to be (for us surround users) updated, only for multiroom purpose. BUT, now s14 is in the horizon which is rumored to have hdmi. For at start I think its nice, since I will be able to control Sonos sound on my Apple TV remote app. In this scenario, it would be nice and some kind of a must if this S14 has at least one hdmi input.I use all my hdmi inputs on my old b6 and would have to skip one unit in order to make place for at Sonos soundbar with hdmi. I think many Sonos users use all of their hdmi inputs on tv as its kind of the thoughts - the tv is the hub. BUT isn't this against Sonos´s "bulletproof" philosophy?. im thinking on handshake issues, personally I could think Sonos only supports sound on hdmi, in order to avoid handshake issues. Well it may have a hdmi 2.1 socket which have the capacity to potentially fix many of these hdmi issues. Which brings me t
Hi. I know this is not possible as it is today, since Sonos doesn't have HDMI. But will it be possible with airplay 2 support or apple HomeKit? Today I have only streaming services and therefor my Apple TV is my only source. The remote is hooked nice and easy up with my Sonos 5.1 system. BUT a mayor missout for me, is the possibility to control the volume within the Apple TV app. My hope is, that with the arrival of airplay 2, Sonos sound can be controlled with Apple TV remote. It is the only missing link for a complete minimalistic setup.
I am led to believe iOS 11.4 will be released later today allowing Airplay 2 support; assuming Sonos will also release an update to allow this function soon?
I've had a single Play 1 for about 8 months now and despite it frustrating the hell out of me, I'm very eager to expand the system. I'm not an audiophile (in a sense that I have a terrible technical understanding of sound), but I'm a fanatic of awesome sound with perfect base and like it much louder than most. The Play 1 has been a tease! I also think the Echo is really cool but the sound quality does not make my ears happy. On a budget my first thought was a Play 5 and Echo Dot ($550). I want to see what that Play 5 feels like at all volumes...something tells me if I bought it I'd have a very hard time returning it. I also really like the Line-n feature because it would allow me to play my old school Ipod through it directly, bypassing that horrific app. Without question, my Ipod sounds way better than any of my iPhones ever have (both using auxiliary input in my car...no idea how it would sound with Play 5). The ability to have Alexa using a Dot really seemed to tip the sc
Any word on a possible second generation Playbar in 2018 or 2019? Seems like it is past due for a facelift if it wants to compete in today's home theater market. Thoughts?
Hi Sonos and Sonos Community members, I’ve had a playbase for a few months and there is one thing is really annoying and destroying the user experience. I’ve seen a lot of threads about this problem: - When music is streamed, the Playbase volume is okay at around 10-15% for a good audio experience - When audio is from the Optical input (i.e. TV / games console / blu-ray player) the volume needs to be at least 50% - It doesn’t matter what brand TV is used, the user experience is less than satisfactory, especially far a £700 product So far there has been no solid resolution, even with re-routing audio connections or using separate DACs. Simple fix: Add a ‘level’ option for the optical input, the same as there is for the ‘aux’ input for the Play:5 Okay...it’s probably not as simple as the statement and may need some software development time, but come on Sonos, listen to your customers...
I have a turntable plugged in to a Sonos Connect that's running a pair of bookshelf powered speakers. I love it because I can play the record throughout the whole house. The only thing that bothers me with this setup is that if I stream something to the speakers where the turntable is, and then try to play a record. I have to go to the Sonos app and change the input to line-in. I wish it would change automatically like it does on the playbar when you turn on the tv, but is does not. But I was checking out the Wrensilva console that Sonos is selling, and it has an input selector where you can manually change the input of the speaker between line-in and streaming as well as a volume knob. Is there a third party device that would give you this kind of functionality?... and while we're on the subject, is there a physical control that would allow you to group zones?
