Currently we have a Playbar, Sub and two Play 3's for the surround in our main living area. It's a large space, the Playbar has always served us well but looking at upgrading. We have just moved and will not be mounting the TV at this new place. Wondering wether to purchase a Beam because it's newer and will be fine or the Playbase?

Playbase is apparently the better sounding of the two, but has not got Alexa built in.

Two key concerns you need to address. How badly do you want to integrate smart features into your HT setup. If you really want that you can only get that from the Beam. The next question then is at what cost because clearly at the size difference their will be some loss of power if you go that way. But I think the best thing for you then to do is a sound comparison for yourself. So my advice is to explore getting the Beam but make the choice on a side by side comparison of the sound with the Playbase.
