This is a long read - if you’re impatient or don’t have time to read this, just read the title again, and there’s your Cliff’s Notes. I’ve owned the complete Sonos Playbar 5.1 HT for at least 5 years now. I found limitations quickly: no DTS, no HDMI, no expansion beyond 5.1, less-than-great stereo music performance (to my ears).I also was not a fan of one particular Sonos app update that forced everyone to enter an email address to continue using the system.I figured out a way around the account problem without giving up any personal info, I dealt with the DTS problem by ignoring it, I lived with the optical limitation, and I stopped worrying about using the HT for music - I decided to put together a really great analog system for my very large music collection. Many, many people joined my concerns about the Playbar HT. To all of us, Sonos appeared to be limiting itself to apartment-dwellers who stream everything, and us home theater enthusiasts who wanted to hear the sound coming off
I regularly leave my Move on its base and cant get the contacts to light the charging light meaning I regularly cant use it and would happily chuck it away if it hadnt cost my wife so much money
Hi there. My system includes one Sonos Amp + two Play:1 as LS/RS in Living Room, two Play:3 as stereo pair in Bedroom.Since I have just clean installed Windows 10 on my PC, I need to reinstall Sonos Controller (SonosDesktopController121.exe). Everything works fine, the app finds my existing system, but after that it keeps shutting down within seconds. Every time I start the app it shuts down again. I haven’t had time to do anything with the Controller yet.I have tried an older version (SonosDesktopController1205.exe) but the symtom remains unchanged. My Android app still works fine on both Samsung phones.Any help would be much appreciated.
About two years ago I requested an option for the Android widget to support transparency. The option is available on all my other Android widgets and I would think a standard practice encouraged by Google. Because the SONOS widget does not support transparency, it sticks out like a sore thumb. This is an easy modification. Android provides the basic UI support functionality (second image below) - the OS may also handle the transparency logic too. All you need to do is enable it. I requested this again about 11 months ago. This is pretty easy to do and yet it remains a deficiency to this day. Here, I’ll help you guys out a little.https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6562962/transparent-widget-backgroundhttps://developer.android.com/guide/topics/appwidgetsTwo screen shots below. The first shows the SONOS app widget being downright obnoxiously ugly on my home screen. The second shows how well-designed app widgets handle transparency and other widget related settings.
I have two Play 1 speakers. I connect to these using the controller app installed on my Android phone, and my partner does the same on her iOS phone. Both of us are only able to use the app maybe 50% of the time since we frequently can’t connect to the system. At the top of the app the message is “Unable to connect to Sonos”.This happens anywhere in the house, I can be standing on my porch or next to the Wi-Fi router and Sonos speaker but it makes no difference. This has happened for years, I have tried resolving this multiple times on calls with Sonos tech support, but the issue remains. How likely is it that I just have a pair of lemon speakers? If not then why can’t Sonos help me work this out? When the connection is established/kept then everything works like a dream, so it seems that the issue is getting an initial handshake/connection.Thanks in advance for any helpful comments or suggestions.
Hello, I am planning to buy a 77-inch lg oled cx television. Has anyone had problems with this model? atmos is heard without problems? what I watch the most is Netflix, amazon and Hbo. It is a strong investment and I don't know whether to wait for the 2021 model. Thanks for the help
I have recently (6mths) purchased a Beam, hooked up to a Sony Bravia TV. By either HDMI or Optical sound is behind the picture. While your app allows adjustment to delay the audio, what we need is the option to push it ahead. This is something I am aware of that is an issue, my neighbours also have it, and I have seen other complaints on Twitter yet you won’t fix it. Why? I have another thread and issue with your devices and the S1 controller , this is the final straw. I have completely lost faith in your company, I’ve been a customer since Gen 1 of the Play 5, nearly 10 years - it used to be superb, now it appears you simply don’t care, disgusting really given the cost of the equipment. My parents have invested in a Bose equivalent which just works, as do friends Alexas at a quarter of the cost. Not on. Fix it.
Hi Everyone, I’ve seen a number of people reporting intermittent sound cut outs when using BBC iPlayer with Sonos Arc.I have the same issue and two questionsHas anybody fixed the problem, and Is it actually worth speaking to Sonos to get it fixed. Many thanks Marc
The sound intermittently but regularly ( every minute or so) cuts out whilst using the Arc. Is there a fix for this?
My Play 5 no longer 'remembers' the last last content it played after being inactive. It defaults back to line-in.Line-in is connected to a set top box.My other Sonos kit always presents its most recent content to resume playing after being inactive.Any ideas out there that will make 5he play 5 behave?I'm on S2.
We built our house with a media/data/com room. I currently have a Sonos Port hard-wired to my router and connected to my whole home stereo receiver inside the media room. In another room I have two sonos (Play 1) speakers that play music from the Port, also in the same room as the speakers I have a tv that is connected to my home wireless network. What is the easiest way, (or is it possible) to play my TV sound wirelessly through the speakers in the same room? Running a separate cable from the TV to the Sonos-Port is not an option. Thanks! Ronnie
Why am I hearing commercials listening to Spotify premium on Sonos?
Since S2 became available and Sonos abandoned users of its legacy equipment (which still works perfectly) connecting to my system from my iPhone or Mac is now a nightmare. It can take up to 20 minutes of turning the phones WiFi on and off and closing and restarting the app before it will allow control of the system. It also happens to my wife, and her phone. Other times it works first time. This is frustrating in the extreme having spent thousands of pounds on speakers that are effectively useless when it won’t connect, often when you just want to quickly play something. This is completely unacceptable, it all used to work perfectly. I have 3x Play 1, 1x Play 3, a Beam and a Gen 1 Play 5 which I am not willing to junk to be able to use the S2 app, nor trade in with an insult of a discount to upgrade it. Your Twitter team have ignored all support requests from me (as someone with over 30k followers and a blue tick) and I am aware that I am not the only person affected by this. It simpl
I recently setup a Sonos One at my in-laws. Had some issues with the setup initially but worked through it. I got the speaker to start using Apple airplay successfully. I got the music to start playing, paused it, disconnected airplay to show the in-law how to use it. Went to go select the speaker again through airplay and could not connect again. Now the speaker is no longer being seen on airplay. The speaker is seen in the sonos app, but not in the airplay. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
My soundbar drops out every few minutes for a second or so. It's very frustrating. Been doing it for a number of weeks now. Can anyone give me any ideas to fix it. Thank you.
I have a Beam connected to my TV. When I listen to music on YouTube I like to improve the quality of the sound by connecting the Beam to my Play 5s and sub. I turn down the volume on the lower quality Beam and listen through the other speakers. The strange thing is when doing that the Roku remote control stops working. I can still hear what’s playing but I can’t manipulate the YouTube experience or even turn off the TV. Any ideas why the use of the Play 5s and sub would disable the TV remote?
How do I add songs to a spotify playlist while using spotify radio on sonos?
Hello Sonos community,Please forgive me if this question has been covered already. I haven’t found an answer that covers my needs.I have the following setup: one Play:1 in bedroom, another one in bathroom, and a stereo pair of Play:3 in the living room. I’m very satisfied by this setup for a while but i wish to use AirPlay now.I understand i have 2 options:Replace at least one speaker per room that is AirPlay2-capable Add a Sonos Port to this setupOption 1 is costly just for AirPlay, at least 1k€ since i would have to buy at least two Play One and one Play:5Option 2 would cost half of it but i understand the Port will only allow one stream to one room or group at a timeCould you please help me confirm my analysis or point any option i forgot? Thanks
Just got the Sonos Arc and conveniently, also received the firmware update on my Sony X900H enabling eARC capability. I’m a little lost as to what settings I should change on the TV to maximize the Arc. Can anyone advise? Thanks!
I have used ExpressVPN for years with no issues with my Sonos system & ability to connect form my Mac.After changing to NordVPN I cannot connect to Mac desktop controller. It is fine if I turn VPN off. As I never had this issue before, can anyone offer any advice. I live in the UK & use VPN for security, not for bypassing anything. Thanks
Now with the arc in the now playing screen you can only see if there is an atmos signal or not. you can go al the way into system settings and see there wwhat signal is playing (stereo, dolby digital, dolby digital + etc), would love to just be able to see what signal is coming in on the now playing app. thanx
Hello, just got sub hen 3, I started playing music and noticed buzzing around climatic parts or heavy bass. Is this normal for this model, or do I need to change my sound settings to make sure it doesn’t rattle or buzz during movies or music?
Hi,I’ve got a saved Sonos Playlist. I can’t tell or remember, where I got the song from. (Mixcloud, Sonos or ?)Just wanted a buddy to hear the song and there’s no way to do this? Thanks!
I can barely hear the Atmos effects on the Sonos Arc compared to my Samsung N850 Atmos soundbar. Any way to make the upfiring drivers louder?
The Sonos iOS app supports multiple end user accounts for a single music service. In my case my spouse and I each have an Apple Music account (let’s call them A1 and A2) and the app can easily switch between A1 and A2. My problem (and I suspect this is a bug) is that the selection of A1 or A2 isn’t always sticky (and it should be!)I own two separate Sonos systems, in two different locations, which share a single household ID. When I move between locations, the account selection is *always* reset to A1, even if it was previously A2 in both locations. In other words, it’s sticky in the app until I switch locations. In practise, since the reset is often not noticed, this means that A1’s and A2’s recently played lists and preferences etc get mixed up by Apple Music, defeating much of the user personalization that Apple Music tries to provide. So, Sonos, is this a bug, a limitation, or WAD? (I’m running S2.)Thanks.
