Awaiting a Port to arrive and I am wondering if anyone has experience with the port and Meridian gear? I would like to know the following.A will the port accept and fully control its output directly from the music app using airplay 2 without opening the Sonos app. If the answer to A is yes. Does it locally control the actual volume in meridian versus digital attenuation? Mod Edit: Corrected typo
I have Sonos speakers in various rooms of the house. Some are used often and others are not. It seems wasteful to keep them plugged in for days/weeks at a time when they are not heavily used. I am looking at plugging some into smart plugs so I can turn them on remotely when I want them and turn them off when not in use.I plan on leaving the speaker connected to the network on all the time, since that is required.Has anyone tried this? Are there any issues I should be concerned about? Thanks,John
I’ve used my Sonos devices with Harmony for many years without any issues until recently.. it appears since the recent update to my Sonos One devices the harmony commands no longer respond. I’ve also noticed that when I open the Sonos app it takes a couple of attempts for it to recognise my speakers - any ideas ?
Any news on Sonos adopting the Matter standard?
So I’ve been trying to google/searched forums and there does not seem to be any clear answers on this topic.Today I have an older surround setup containing one Playbar and 2 Play 1s. I’m looking into making my home smart and have been leaning towards Apple HomeKit. I would like to know before I buy two new Sonos One to make my surround setup compatible, if it will work with apple HomeKit or not? If not, are there any way to make it work correctly? For example keeping my play 1s in the surround and buying 1 Sonos One to get AirPlay to work? I’m very confused and cannot figure out the correct way to make this work. Or am I just better of going for Google’s smart home platform even though I only have apple products at home. Also will Siri work with the Sonos One which I will place in my livingroom for communication and HomePods placed in different locations in the house.
HiHow can I connect my Sonos Beam and the Philips Hue Sync Box so that the sound of the TV comes from Sonos while the Hue light bulps controlled by the Hue Sync Box synchronizes with the picture of the TV? I don’t care about music coming from streaming services like Spotify to sync with the Hue Sync Box. Just want to have the TV picture to be in sync with the Hue lamps. Thanks
See above… Interested in buying a Ray and two Symfonisk speaker and would like to to plug them in some Homekit plugs. Will the setup remember the pairing (I think I‘ve read somewhere, that the answer is yes) and the EQ settings? I know that it‘s not meant to be turned of, but… well, yeah…
With SmartThings Legacy Platform being discontinued at the end of Sept 2022. Will Sonos devices continue to work within the SmartThings setup ?
I noticed that when connecting a Sonos PORT to an outboard amplifier that the volume limit on Fixed output will work while the player is playing audio, but will reset itself to OFF or 100% after the player is stopped and started once again. This is not the correct way to set the volume limit setting when using third party amplification and volume controls. ONLY Using the Pass-through setting, keeps your Volume Limit setting in place thus allowing you to maintain the desired gain output of the Sonos PORT to your outboard amplifier system and not overload the inputs to the outboard gear. I thought this would be very useful info to the right people, as I had chased this issue for a while not knowing if my third party control system (Savant) was causing this to happen or if it was a software issue of some other sort.
Has anyone else who uses the audioClip API noticed that since 14.12 it doesn’t work properly - I’m seeing the requests get posted, but they fail to play over the targeted speaker?
I would like to use a button press in IFTTT to play a sound or certain length of music. I would want it to interrupt anything that is currently playing and then resume after the triggered sound. Here’s the scenario: music is playing in the house, someone presses the smart button. Music pauses and a doorbell chime plays for 8 seconds. Music resumes when the sound finishes. And no, I don’t want to buy a video camera doorbell like ring.
I have two One SL’s and a Roam in my Apple Home, Siri works accordingly but in the home app it shows as not playing, except it is! Please see attached screenshot. Is this expected behaviour? When looking at the studs bar, it shows as none of my Sonos are playing until a long press reveals what actually is playing I have checked this via AirPlay and via the Sonos app. Any insight is greatly welcomed my OCD is going crazy!
At WWDC’21 Apple announced opening up Siri to third party hardware, are there plans to integrate this and make it an option for voice assistant just like Alexa and Google Assistant?
I would love if Sonos allowed me to use them in my home security. I have speakers everywhere it would be an awesome feature if the microphone could detect glass breaking and sound an alarm through the speaker.
Hii have a dual Sonos one gen 2 set up in the kitchen and a Sonos beam with Sonos one gen2’s but cannot workout how to get my Ring doorbell to announce on them.. it works on my standalone Alexa? any instruction would be appreciated charlie
I wish to have an easy to use NAS for playing music onto Sonos, I’ve read lots of articles and it’s confusing me. can anyone recommend a simple NAS that can be used without too much altering of protocols or security settings or other apps
It does not work with Google home. I don’t understand why I need to login into Spotify when I didn’t with the Bose 900, I can’t even play the radio without having to sign up for yet another service. Cannot control the audio through the Google home app, pretty sure it is possible seems purposeful. Cannot connect my laptop to the arc without purchasing additional hardware.Don’t really care about your law suite with Google. A good product and a good community cannot be copied so good luck with law suite but I am not Google so why are you punishing me?
So I have read a lot. I just recently got screwed with Insteon so I am looking at changing everything (yes expensive). This will be getting leak sensors and also switching to Lutron Casseta and switch to home kit and get a HomePod miniWhere it gets a bit muddy i have all older sonos products including the play one with Alexa. I could just keep my music separate with the use of Alexa, spotify and make my home automation on HomeKit. This is still not ideal as I would like to be able to use one interface if I can. Can I use my sonos with Alexa and still use my old speakers and have it work with HomeKit and HomePod mini?I have read various things where you can do it through airplay, if I was to get one of the new Sonos speakers but this is yet another rather large purchase. Can I add all my old sonos speaker into HomeKit and then ask siri to play music for example or just go into spotify and chose my music and have it play on my old speakers while still being able to ask Siri to turn
There have been previous threads addressing voice calls on Sonos; however, it has been two years since any threads regarding voice calls have been open. I think with the addition of the generation 2 Sonos One device that inherently supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa it is time for the development team to take a look at enabling voice calling on the Sonos devices that support Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. I think the community and consumers would react very positively to the addition of that feature, but would also appreciate justification if it is not possible for that feature to be developed at this time.
Wasn’t sure if this would be of interest to anyone, but I recently had a chance to play with and review a VIolet Smartswitch Lite. It’s given me Sonos control at the wall switch as well as Philips Hue control. I’m looking forward to Http requests because then I can wire it into node-red and home-assistant, but if anyone’s interested in my write up it’s below:https://www.thesmarthomebook.com/2021/11/10/violet-smartswitch-lite-review-set-up/
I have Sonos arc at the family room with its wifi password. In addition I have two Sonos Roam in bedroom with different wifi router and password. My question:If I started listening with the arc in the family room, and I want to continue liststening to the same music, how can I do it with different wifi?thxM.
1 lost customer. Sure there are others. I realize losing 1 person as a customer is no big deal. But I'm sure there are others. For the price - really should have most common streaming platforms. Billions of Android users. Lost opportunity. Anyways, just my 2 ¢
I use a Nest Hub to play music on one of my Sonos speakers. I have three speakers on my main floor. I cannot seem to get the the Nest Hub, which uses Google Home, to play on more than one speaker at at time. That forces me to open my phone and then add the other two speakers to the playing speaker. Is there anyway to fix this?
