Smart home integrations

I have Sonos Setup at our new Retail place we are working on. There are total 10 speakers (combination of Era 300 + Sonos 5 + Sub + Beam). I have been researching on how to setup for Fire Alarm automation - When Fire Alarm goes off Speakers should mute or stop. We tested killing the internet which does not pass the test as it takes sometime for buffered music to stop. I have been reading about Home Assistant setup but nothing very clear.  Wondering if someone has the setup and can advise how did they achieve it?

Any news on Sonos adopting the Matter standard?

Hi, I have a few play:1 and a beam along with Spotify subscription. Can anyone recommend an open source home automation (and code?) to automatically play my Sonos with Spotify in the morning, then off in the evening?Bonus would be to eventually have it turn off if my phone or zoom rings, or when I leave the house. I also have an old echo dot I could hook up if necessary, but not sure I’m cool with Amazon listening to everything.Or, an automatic one tap solution. 

Now that Amazon is discontinuing its privacy setting (as of March 28, 2025) and will be sending all commands to its cloud servers, are there any plans to bring Apple HomeKit / Siri to voice enabled speakers?  I have multiple echo devices that I’ll be unplugging before this goes live. But I also have two voice enabled Sonos speakers (Arc Ultra & Era 100). I don’t want to migrate to Google, because they’re likely to follow Amazon’s lead on the privacy front. I enjoy the convenience of controlling lights & music by voice, but not having everything sent to Amazon servers.  

Hello,A few days ago, I noticed that my Sonos speakers were "unresponsive" in the Home app when I was away from home.After trying several things (rebooting, removing and re-adding the speaker in HomeKit) without success, I reset all the speakers to factory settings. It took some time, but it worked.But this morning, I updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 18.2.1, and the problem came back! My Sonos speakers are once again unresponsive in the Home app. Please note that I am not at home, so I can't check if it works when I'm on the same network. In any case, do you know a way to fix the issue without resetting the speakers again?Thanks for help.

I’m running Google Home, with both Nest Mini (2nd Gen) and Nest Hub (2nd Gen) devices, and a Sonos system comprised Sonos Ones and Sonos Fives.I have added “Works with Google” to the Google Home for Sonos, and set my Sonos speakers as the default speaker for each of my Google Home devices. This worked perfectly to allow me to play music from Spotify and control it using voice commands to Google.In the last few months, it’s stopped working.If I ask a Nest Mini (2nd Gen) device to play music, it works as expected, playing on Sonos as it always has.If I ask a Next Hub (2nd Gen) device to play music, Google responds and says it’s playing on Sonos, but nothing actually plays. If I start music playing on Sonos from my phone and then ask a Nest Hub what’s playing, it can tell me - so it’s as if Google can get information from Sonos, but not give it commands.I’ve tried Sonos support and didn’t resolve the issue. It had me factory reset the speakers, remove Sonos from Google Home and reset ever

I am writing an arduino IDE Esp8266 sketch to monitor the play status of a Sonos speaker and trigger an outlet. With SOAP responses, I can easily monitor the avTransport service using the getTransportInfo to get the currentTransportState.  But, if the speaker is grouped, that output is always “playing.” My idea is to identify the group coordinator IP and then use that device’s currentTransportState when the speaker is grouped. My issue is that when I group the speaker, the ZoneGroup Coordinator is defaulting to the same device every time… even when that device is not a part of the playing group. I assume it must have the lowest or first UUID, or something.  is there another way that I can monitor the play/pause status of a grouped speaker that is not the coordinator?  I know I’m missing something.  specs:I am using the S1 app with a variety of zp90, zp120, and play3. It’s an older system.  all thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. 

Hello Sonos Team,I recently found out that Denon has integrated Siri into their smart speakers if you already have a HomePod or HomePod mini at home. You can see the details here: Denon SupportI think this is a great feature and would love to see the same integration on Sonos speakers. How can I connect my google doorbell 2nd gen wired to a google speaker so it works as an indoor chime?

I have 4 Sonos Ports in my set up, all Ethernet wired to my network. I use my phone to play music to them, usually uttering “Siri play some music in the Backyard” (Backyard is the name of a port, in the room “Backyard” of my Apple Home set up). I also have tried picking a port in the output selector. In both of these scenarios, I see about 25% of the time, that Siri will say “OK” or the route is changed successfully in the picker, but then nothing is rendered on the speakers, even though the Apple Music playhead is moving as if nothing is wrong. I have checked my amp, my network, etc. and everything is fine.Interestingly, to recover, all I need is to turn off that route in the picker, and then selected it again, and immediately music is rendered. This leads me to believe it is an iOS issue, but I cant confirm. Has anyone else experienced this? It has been going on ever since I’ve had the ports, ~2 years or so.Since it isn’t 100% repeatable, it is slow to debug. I think it has something

Hi,I am programming an Extron control processor with touch screen in order to control my Sonos Connect. Most of the functions are easy to implement, but I would like to learn more about queues, next in queue and how to make that visible on the touch screen.I am using Extron IPCP Pro250 processor with Sono_42_3829_v1_1_2 driver obtained from the Extron Device Driver Library. Thanks JJ

I contacted Sonos a couple of weeks ago and they said they had a work around for this issue.  This issue was not been resolved. I have had techicians out to deal with my Control4 and they could not figure it out why it is not working having done what Sonos told them to do.Any one else still having this issue?  Resolutions?  I have been told to remove Sonos from Control 4 but this would also eliminate Sportify.

Can someone tell me what are the possibilities when you integrate Sonos speakers in the Smartthings app. Is it more than volume? Can you choose music, playlists, Spotify?

Is there a simple, straightforward guide to adding Sonos to the HomeKit to automate playing music when you walk in the door? I’ve looked at the other topics and can’t find what I’m looking for. Each issue seems to be different. I have been using Alexa simply because I used to have an echo in each room when they first came out, before Sonos voice control. BF has convinced me to switch to HomeKit since we are apple for everything else.We set up an automation for coming home and Hue lights worked perfectly, but the Sonos have not been reliably turning on. I did get some music in the living room one day, but can’t get any others to do anything. Is there something in the Sonos app I need to update first? I see the speakers in HomeKit. I saw something about a Homebridge when I did a search online, but didn’t see anyone mention that here. 

Is SONOS compatible with Apple Smart Home 

Hi,I’ve noticed that the Sonos app can show when my Sonos Ace headphones are connected to my Beam soundbar. However, this connection status doesn’t seem to be exposed in the Sonos API, which would make it usable in Home Assistant or other integrations.If the app can already report features like night mode, speech enhancement, and surround state, I don’t see why the API couldn’t treat the Ace connection as a sensor. Similar to how battery devices report their battery status, the Beam could report “Ace connected” or “Ace disconnected.”This would be useful for automations, such as adjusting playback zones or sending notifications based on the headphones' status. Are there any plans to expose this data in the API, or has this feature already been considered?Thanks.

I know it has been raised before (some years ago) and there were some good arguments against doing it. But as the market is evolving this topic probably is regaining importance again. I just found myself in the position to buy a thread border router and now had to add the first Apple homepod mini to my Sonos mix. I would have gone for a Sonos speaker, or even better would have appreciated it if I could have updated my existent Sonos system to support thread. But as the landscape is right now, I had no other choice.As most customers will probably have multiple Sonos speakers around the house, turning them into thread border routers would make sure my thread network will work immediately across the whole building. It would honestly boost the value of my Sonos system. I am not sure if an upgrade is technically possible, I have not checked all the details of thread. Sonos can support many third party smart home environments by supporting the Wyoming Protocol. This would allow Sonos products to act as the microphone/speaker for wake words and more for the most popular open source smart home ecosystem: Home Assistant. Other smart home ecosystems could also then add support for Sonos.There are not currently many good wifi connected speaker/microphones and Sonos would be de-facto the best in class product in this area. I imagine many people looking to automate their homes would purchase your products to use as their home assistant interfaces as there seems like only 1 other alternative available at the moment: ESP32-S3-BOX  (which is not very good)

Why is my Echo dot playing on my Sonos speaker when I tell it to play a song? I haven’t done this on purpose. As an example, I say to Alexa, Play Kenny G, and it starts to play on my Sonos speaker in the other room. How do i stop this and have it play on the Echo dot?

I own 12 Sonos products in my system and love the hardware.  The interface, however, is lacking.  There are three tv sound bars including ann arc, arc ultra, and play bar.  They work fine as soundbars driven by the optical cable on my tv’s.  But since the app update some time ago, none of the other items work.  It’s all software issues, but without a,way to use the speakers, what’s the point?  It may be time to rethink my approach to audio in my home.  RIP Sonos.

I have a new projector that uses the Google TV Stick and it’s Google Home services.  Is it possible to connect my Sonos devices to the projector?  I know I can connect one through Bluetooth, but I would like to connect the Google Home/TV Stick to the Sonos App so I can use my Sonos system.  Does anyone know how to do this?

I have my own app working and can access some upnp services.  Can play, pause, adjust volume so far.  But the zonegrouptopology return method not allowed.  Tried both post and get.  Also having same issue with browse.  Any help would be appreciated. 

Hi. I have a project that involve some mods. I want to use a old radio cabinet, take out all of the components and install a sonos One speaker. But I want the lights in the cabinet to be activated when I choose the speaker. Is there anyone that know if thats possible? 

Hi,I receive an incomplete list of Favorites with the Sonos API “getFavorites”-command.Concretely, playlists from Amazon Music which I added to Favorites in the app are missing while playlists from Spotify added in the same way are returned by the API.In the Sonos app both are listed next to each other. By using the http-API I get both types of playlists, but Amazon Music playlists are of type “shortcut” and Spotify playlists of type “instantPlay”. Hi,I am using the local API via a module in the home automation system Symcon (in my understanding not relevant for the question) and experience an unexpected behaviour for Amazon Music playlist Sonos favorites.Adding the Sonos favorites for Amazon Music and e.g. Spotify playlists in the Sonos app in the same way leads to different results when browsing the ContentDirectoryService for Sonos favorites(FV:2).For Spotify playlist the “res” element is delivered so that the playlist can be played via the API.For Amazon Music playlists the “res” element is returned empty, therefore no possibility to initiate the playback.Additional difference is that the Amazon Music playlists are listed with r:type “shortcut”, while the Spotify playlists are listed as r:type “instantPlay”.Via the Sonos App both type of playlists look and behave in the same way.Does someone have an idea what could be the reason for the different behaviour and what I can do to get the Amazon Music playlists working?Thanks ver
