Smart home integrations

Hi,I’ve noticed that the Sonos app can show when my Sonos Ace headphones are connected to my Beam soundbar. However, this connection status doesn’t seem to be exposed in the Sonos API, which would make it usable in Home Assistant or other integrations.If the app can already report features like night mode, speech enhancement, and surround state, I don’t see why the API couldn’t treat the Ace connection as a sensor. Similar to how battery devices report their battery status, the Beam could report “Ace connected” or “Ace disconnected.”This would be useful for automations, such as adjusting playback zones or sending notifications based on the headphones' status. Are there any plans to expose this data in the API, or has this feature already been considered?Thanks.

I know it has been raised before (some years ago) and there were some good arguments against doing it. But as the market is evolving this topic probably is regaining importance again. I just found myself in the position to buy a thread border router and now had to add the first Apple homepod mini to my Sonos mix. I would have gone for a Sonos speaker, or even better would have appreciated it if I could have updated my existent Sonos system to support thread. But as the landscape is right now, I had no other choice.As most customers will probably have multiple Sonos speakers around the house, turning them into thread border routers would make sure my thread network will work immediately across the whole building. It would honestly boost the value of my Sonos system. I am not sure if an upgrade is technically possible, I have not checked all the details of thread. Sonos can support many third party smart home environments by supporting the Wyoming Protocol. This would allow Sonos products to act as the microphone/speaker for wake words and more for the most popular open source smart home ecosystem: Home Assistant. Other smart home ecosystems could also then add support for Sonos.There are not currently many good wifi connected speaker/microphones and Sonos would be de-facto the best in class product in this area. I imagine many people looking to automate their homes would purchase your products to use as their home assistant interfaces as there seems like only 1 other alternative available at the moment: ESP32-S3-BOX  (which is not very good)

Why is my Echo dot playing on my Sonos speaker when I tell it to play a song? I haven’t done this on purpose. As an example, I say to Alexa, Play Kenny G, and it starts to play on my Sonos speaker in the other room. How do i stop this and have it play on the Echo dot?

I own 12 Sonos products in my system and love the hardware.  The interface, however, is lacking.  There are three tv sound bars including ann arc, arc ultra, and play bar.  They work fine as soundbars driven by the optical cable on my tv’s.  But since the app update some time ago, none of the other items work.  It’s all software issues, but without a,way to use the speakers, what’s the point?  It may be time to rethink my approach to audio in my home.  RIP Sonos.

I have a new projector that uses the Google TV Stick and it’s Google Home services.  Is it possible to connect my Sonos devices to the projector?  I know I can connect one through Bluetooth, but I would like to connect the Google Home/TV Stick to the Sonos App so I can use my Sonos system.  Does anyone know how to do this?

I have my own app working and can access some upnp services.  Can play, pause, adjust volume so far.  But the zonegrouptopology return method not allowed.  Tried both post and get.  Also having same issue with browse.  Any help would be appreciated. 

Hi. I have a project that involve some mods. I want to use a old radio cabinet, take out all of the components and install a sonos One speaker. But I want the lights in the cabinet to be activated when I choose the speaker. Is there anyone that know if thats possible? 

Hi,I receive an incomplete list of Favorites with the Sonos API “getFavorites”-command.Concretely, playlists from Amazon Music which I added to Favorites in the app are missing while playlists from Spotify added in the same way are returned by the API.In the Sonos app both are listed next to each other. By using the http-API I get both types of playlists, but Amazon Music playlists are of type “shortcut” and Spotify playlists of type “instantPlay”. Hi,I am using the local API via a module in the home automation system Symcon (in my understanding not relevant for the question) and experience an unexpected behaviour for Amazon Music playlist Sonos favorites.Adding the Sonos favorites for Amazon Music and e.g. Spotify playlists in the Sonos app in the same way leads to different results when browsing the ContentDirectoryService for Sonos favorites(FV:2).For Spotify playlist the “res” element is delivered so that the playlist can be played via the API.For Amazon Music playlists the “res” element is returned empty, therefore no possibility to initiate the playback.Additional difference is that the Amazon Music playlists are listed with r:type “shortcut”, while the Spotify playlists are listed as r:type “instantPlay”.Via the Sonos App both type of playlists look and behave in the same way.Does someone have an idea what could be the reason for the different behaviour and what I can do

Trying to connect Amp to Apple HomeKit. HomeKit no longer allows you to add an accessory that isn’t discoverable. It use to give you a list of gives compatible devices where you would find the Sonos products. You now need a manufacturer “Setup Code”. What is this code for Sonos and where can I find it?  

I’m looking to enhance my smart home setup by integrating my Sonos speakers with other smart devices. What are the best methods or tools for achieving seamless automation between Sonos and various smart home systems? Any tips on compatibility, configuration, or specific devices that work particularly well with Sonos would be greatly appreciated!

i want to listen to my own Music downloaded on Music app on my iPhone. and I want to hear it from my loudspeakers set up to my Sonos Connect. Once that was possible but Sonos closed that. can you make that possible again ?

Sonos customer service tried to help me today (for crappy app problems with the speaker!). Now two of our other smart devices won’t connect to our Network.  Does anyone gave a guess of what the Sonos rep might have done,  so i can undo it?

I have a ZP100 (very retro I know) 🤣 which is in a standard Alexa Group (NOT a speaker Group) with an Alexa Echo deviceIt’s set up WIRELESSLY to play all music through the external speakers connected to the ZP100 rather than the Echo.So Alexa’s spoken responses to any questions we have are routed through the Echo which is as I expectIf our request is radio/Sonos related the resulting music is played through ZP100 and external speaker again as expected.If we issue a voice command to the Echo while the ZP100 is actively playing “Ducking” occurs for the duration of the interaction again as expected, so far so good!The one thing that is puzzling me is that when our Ring Doorbell is triggered the alert on the Echo plays the “Someone's at the Door” alert that we’ve set up but no ducking occurs on the ZP100 which makes the option to “Answer Front door” voice command that we may choose to issue just a little more complicated because of the background noise

I have a new Homey Pro I can not get it to pair with Sonos. Do I need a hub or some other item to connect?  any help will be appreciated. I am a novice it this. 

I live in Italy and here Android users are much more that the Android users that are in the USA…Personally all my family have an Android device, like Google Pixels, and all the house have integration with Google Assistant and Google Home. We are a Google Family.We bought a Sonos Move for have a portable speaker with a gorgeous sound, and I can confirm that it have, but we hear the lack of the Google Chromecast built-in integration.In fact the Chromecast built-in feature is a great opportunity for Sonos, we think, because in this way Sonos Speakers can appear in Media controls of Google Home and so can be controlled by all the people that live in the house. Also Chromecast built-in have plenty of integration with some services that made things really easy.So, we decide that for now Sonos for us it can be only the Sonos Move or the Sonos Roam that have also the Bluetooth, because we need it for limiting the lack of the Chromecast built-in functionality. But

Are there any connectivity issues with Orbi mesh 754?  Thinking of replacing my system. 

Is it just me but the latest Sonos release is nothing but painful when it comes to integrations with anything other than Sonos. I have noticed integration with Alexa not behaving consistently or at all, and integrations with Samsung smartthings also failing and not reliable. This is pretty much made Sonos integration with Alexa routines and with smartthings routines pointless. Is anyone else experiencing the same issues? Anyone with any workarounds?

Is there a way of connecting a Sonos Era 300 to ring with a third Gen Ring doorbell works on some of my other devices but not my Era 300s?

My desktop app has failed to update - the help page says delete it and re-download - can anyone tell me where to download this from pleas as cannot find any links at all?Has anyone else had the same issue? 

How do I set up Sonos in my apple homekit?I could do this in the old app but cannot find how to in the new one. 

Hi guys,I have some similar needs for a PA system, but I simply need to broadcast my voice message to the Sonos Amp. Delaying a bit of time to broadcast the notification is not a problem.Are there currently any Apps on PC or Phone that can do this? If so, please suggest it to me.I found the Sonofy app but haven't seen many reviews about this app.
