IKEA Home Smart app issues and posibilities on Linux

Hi,

my top question is on how do I add my Symfonisks (that I already added to my Sonos app) to the IKEA Home Smart app? I already forgot how I managed add the one I have there and can not find how to replicate my victory. I find that the IKEA app is way more responsive than the Sonos app for some reason and I hope to add another Symfonisk remote to Symfonisk in my other room.

I also would love to know if there are any good resources that perhaps you used to migrate your system from Windows to Linux, I my ultimate goal would be to have my thin client to run Linux store all the FLACs I bought and use jellyfin for movies and stuff.

Thanks for any tips :)

I’d try rebooting the IKEA hub to see if that picks up the Symfonisks that have not yet been added.

In IKEA Home Smart app, click on the circled (+) in the top right, then select Add a product > Sound

Good luck finding additional Symfonisk remotes as they have sold out in many stores and don’t appear to be getting restocked as Sonos and IKEA have now ended their partnership.

open the ikea home smart app, tap the plus button in the top right, tap add a product, tap on Sound and speakers not in the ikea app will be (should be) listed there.

For linux you just create a samba share for your music library and add the share in your controller. Use Google/chatgpt for step by step instructions for your platform.

You can control the music on Linux using Noson https://janbar.github.io/noson-app/ or the Sonos web controller (which sucks and will likely suck for a long timeframe)  https://play.sonos.com

I am sorry for not specifying further, when I tap the + button and the sound category, it prompts me to go to the SONOS app, where I have two more Symfonisks than in my IKEA app.
When I click through, the SONOS app opens on the home screen where business is as usual (if it ever loads), I would have expected some pop-up like “You were sent here from the IKEA app, continue setup?” but I got nothing
