I bought all my Sonos products so that I would have the simplicity of using my iPhone to play the tracks I had bought on iTunes through my Sonos in most of the rooms in my home. I could just take my phone out of my pocket and control my music. Apparently, no longer. You are now writing this off “because it’s unreliable”! It’s never been unreliable! You’ve just removed the ‘raison d’être’ for Sonos. A very expensive mistake for many customise myself.
Hi there! Just setup my new Sonos Move, love it. Like all of the rest of my Sonos speakers (Beam and Ones) that I previously added successfully to the Home App (by adding New accessory - I do not have a code = I wait wait, it would discover and I could add). This process does not happen with my new Move. I have updated my iOS software to 13.1 and the new Home App, but it does not seem find the Move, and I have the Move successfully connected to my home wifi network. Would appreciate any ideas or help, thank you!
It's been several years that I have asked Sonos about adding a 12 Volt DC Trigger or Changing the Standby Light or Standby Voltage so that End Users with External Amplifiers can have a reliable method of turning on and off the external amplifier when not in use. Niles makes devices that can measure lights on devices that trigger the amp but Sonos light doesn't change enough when it's in Standby mode. Same thing with Xantech, SpeakerCraft, Furman and other companies that make similar control devices! I know I am not alone with this request, maybe if there is enough discussion here in the forum we can collectively get results!
So, here's what I'd like to be able to do: When I'm streaming a movie/TV show to my TV via Chromecast, the audio plays through my crappy built-in TV speakers. I would like the audio to be played through my lovely Sonos One stereo pair instead. How would I go about doing that? Thanks in advance! Daniel
Very interested in the Move speaker. I will buy when it comes with HomeKit / Siri. Any idea when that will be?!
Hello, all. I am curious if anyone has ever tried to use Qlab with Sonos speakers or app? I would like to be able to program some basic sound cue functions to play over 1 or 2 speakers using Qlab. Essentially looking to pre-program a volume fad up and fad out time, but need to trigger the action myself. Anyone have experience with this? Thank you!
How do I turn it off if I am not at home?
Sonos! What did you do?!?! When is this going to be fixed? Hi, I have 2x Sonos One in the kitchen. I am looking to buy a Ring Doorbell and add an Echo Show 5 to the kitchen which would replace an echo dot that is used as a bluetooth input only wired into a Sonos Connect. The only use I see for the Echo Show is to display the Ring Doorbell camera (and to act as the bluetooth input currently fulfilled by the Echo Dot it will replace). I understand that I need to ask Alexa to display the door camera, i.e. the show does not automatically display the camera when the doorbell is rung. As per the Echo Dot the show would have the microphone turned off. Can I ask Alexa to display the doorbell camera on the show via the Sonos Ones? Thank you
Does anyone know if there is a way to trigger Sonos to switch on shuffle? I have a load of bedtime songs in a Spotify playlist and am using the new IFTTT integration triggered from a Smartthings simulated switch to launch the playlist but it would be great if I could get different songs every night
I have a sonos one and want to use the light feature, do I just buy a Philips hue bulb and sync it to the sonos? Or do I need something besides that. Never had anything like this before, and I'm a bit of a techno phobe
Ok, it's annoying that that every time you break apart a stereo pair and re-join them (e.g., to use one speaker temporarily as a portable elsewhere in the house), you have to re-do all the settings, including the room audio settings and the voice assistant settings (for the Sonos One). Looks like Sonos has had outstanding requests to restore settings easily "on the list" for at least 6 years. Or one could easily work around this issue by having a mono mode setting - guess what, also "on the list" for at least 6 years. But worst of all is that every time I separate the stereo pair or re-join it, all the 3rd-party services I use with Sonos, like IFTTT, Home Assistant, and Olisto think that the old speakers are gone and I have new speakers. I have to delete and re-establish the account link, then re-create all the applets and automations that I use to work around other silly bugs and limitations with Sonos services. It's an impractical amount of work for a quick temporary speaker move.
I am using SmartThings and Webcore to automate a few things in my house. Before the latest firmware update I was able to use the status of my Sonos speakers in Webcore (eg "backyard switch is on") so that I could change the color of some interior lights (to remind me that music is on outside) and keep the smartlock on the door from automatically locking (we go in and out a lot to keep up with the demands of our 2 year old son). Sounds like the firmware update broke SmartThings/WebCore's ability to work with Sonos. I read that Sonos decided to change the xml schema in the zone data, which prevents SmartThings from identifying groups and players properly. Is there anyway I can downgrade firmware so that everything works again? I have no plans on using Google Assistant so Im ok losing "features" if this is possible. Thanks in advance!
I wonder when the update for, the support of Google Assistant, the Danish version is up to go, at the date.
Hi I use 2no play 1 and a play 5. All in separate rooms and I think they are excellent. Recently, I purchased a nest stat and hello door bell to which I received a free google mini. This opened me to the world of voice assistants as I wasn’t ready yet to upgrade to the One or the Beam. I use Apple Music as my steaming service of choice and understand that the google assistant has just been introduced to Sonos in the uk. I have connected my system to the google home app and my speakers appear within each room. I understand that Apple Music is not yet supported through google home (although it is in the assistant) but other streaming services like Spotify are. However I noticed that you can only set google play or YouTube as the default music service. Now I’m not too fussed about selecting music service through an assistant as I quite like the sonos app and seeing what music to play, I think it would be a nuisance to try and remember every artist or song I wanted to play to try and
So after growing tired of waiting for a software update from Bose to use Airplay 2 on their SoundTouch series I finally decided to initiate a move to Sonos (it always bugged me that Sonos doesn't offer Bluetooth, hence the wait). To the point, got the speaker to show up fine in HomeKit. Was very excited about this... only to find out that it's just a useless icon! I can't turn the power on/off (which I can do with the old Bose ST10 via Homebridge. Not optimal, but it does work), and no volume control. Have to say that this was disappointing. As it is now the Sonos ONE speaker is just an icon in HomeKit, it can't really do anything. Use case for power on/off... I have an automation that turns off all the lights in my home when I leave (geofencing), would be great if it could turn off the speaker as well. Are there any plans on making the HomeKit integration actually serve any useful purpose in the near future?
Moderator Note: Google Assistant is now available for use with Sonos. Read here for more information. It's May 2019, no Google Assistant nor update from Sonos Execs on Sonos one. This feels like a failed Kickstarter project.
Ok. I will explain this the best I can. I have a number of different Sonos speakers that appear to not be compatible with Airplay 2. However. The house I have just moved in to has Sonos speakers fitted in the ceiling of every room in the house. If each set of speakers needs a Sonos Amp then the set up will get very expensive. Can an I use any other lower priced amp with these speakers? Is is there anyway I can use my old Sonos speakers on airplay by connecting some kind of device? Thanks!
November 1st 2918 SONOS wrote a blog post, postponing the launch of Google assistant on SONOS one and beam to 2019. No date given. The post ender with this: Stay tuned. We look forward to sharing another update in early 2019! We are now well into April and there is still no word on a launch date. Only new commitments at CES that this will launch in 2019. So what is it going to be SONOS? When exactly will you launch Google assistant, that you promised people more than one and a half year ago, when you started selling the one? Please answer this simple question SONOS. You owe that much after all this time of stalling.
I need a Sonos expert in the Cumming or Alpharetta ga Area. Can someone please recommend someone . I have called to sonos support and been on the phone for up to 2 hours with no satisfaction . Thanks in advance Rory Moderator edit: Removed phone number
I am looking for separate piece of hardware to control my Sonos system. I keep seeing ads for Nuimo. What can you actually do with this device? Is it just play/stop or can you actually select various types of music sources? Also, is there way to hardwire the unit to avoid have to charge it so often? Please let me know. Thanks.
We have been hearing for over a year now regarding the Google Assistant integration. When is this going to happen? The Alexa assistance is horrible.
Dear Sonos mods, A similar question as I am about to ask was marked with ‘best answer’ without that actually giving answer to the question. Therefore, could you please answer the following with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’: I own various Sonos Ones and Beam, and I have a premium Spotify Family subscription. When I ask GA on the first Sonos One to play music and thereafter ask the second Sonos One or Beam to play other music, the music stops on the first Sonos One. Now the obvious question: IS IT POSSIBLE TO START PLAYING DIFFERENT MUSIC ON SECOND DEVICE WITHOUT INTERRUPTING PLAY ON FIRST DEVICE USING GA? If ‘yes’ - expected and great, but HOW?? If ‘no’ - can’t be true and WHY?? thanks for answering 😀
Many other news stories available. Also raises many more questions...but progress! https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/9/18563413/sonos-google-assistant-smart-speakers-coming-next-week
Hi, Will you be providing support for Google Assistant for Sonos speakers other than the Sonos One and Beam? I have a number of non-One/Beam Sonos speakers and several Google Home devices at home and have been hoping since the announcement that Sonos was going to provide Google Assistant support that I would be able to use it on my system. However, without retrofitting the rooms in my house that already have Sonos speakers with new Sonos Ones and Beams this would not be possible. This is because dooing so is simply too expensive and wasteful (e-waste-wise) for somebody that has already invested in a number of your speakers, so I would like to ask if you will provide support for Google Assistant with orders placed through a Google home device for other non-One/non-Beam Sonos speakers.
