HiSince 2013 I have been a happy Sonos user - until the amateurish app update May 2024. Luckily I had automatic AppStore and Sonos system updates switched off by then and have managed to stay on the S2 app (gold), which for me worked perfectly. However, last week, in my naivety I took the plunge and upgraded my app + system to latest versions. Now indexing my local library (living on a Synology NAS) takes forever - if it works at all. If I use the Windows app (gold), it works like a charm - as fast as the older S2 (gold) app used to.Since 2013 I never had an issue indexing my local library, but that seems to have been destroyed by the new app/system updates.Does anybody experince the same when local library indexing, and can anybody explain why this is happening?I could downgrade to S1 as all my speakers are S1 compatible - but then I’d have to remain from buying new Sonos units as they will not be compatible with S1, to avoid 2 systems.
I have four Play 3 units bought some years ago. I have one attached to my ADSL gateway and it works OK as do the other three.I now want to use one in my workshop, I have a new, different 5G internet there from TMobile that works fine. What must I do to be able to use one of the Play 3 devices in my workshop and my other WiFi network? Is it true that one MUST connect it to the gateway via ethernet in order to do this? I use the Windows desktop app to control Sonos.
I’m moving to a new house and trying to figure out the best placement for my Era 300 speakers in the living room. I have an arc ultra, 2 era 300s, and a gen 4 sub. I attached a drawing of the current setup. My options for the Era 300s is on a console table that will go behind the couch, but the issue is cord management since there is not an outlet super close to the center of the room. It would be doable, but not ideal. The second is mount them by the light behind the couch on the vaulted ceiling that you can see in the picture. There’s an electrical plate there you can’t see in the picture and there’s one mirrored on the other side of the room that you can’t see. I’ve read that once you get a certain distance from the ceiling you’ll need to invert the speaker. The third option is the add 2 outlet by each vents seen in the picture and mount them there. Let me know what you think and if you need more info or pictures.

Since July 2nd I cannot listen to any YLE stations in My Tuner radio. I can, however, listen to commercial radio stations and for instance Swedish Radio stations. If I choose one of the YLE stations, the system starts to search , but after a while it says the connection to My Tuner radio was cut off.Wonder , if YLE again made some technical changes? ( Have written to YLE, but not received any reply yet).
This has happened to me a couple times, and manually recreating the playlists is quite a chore. Here is a github repo that explains why this happens, and has code to create a new working playlist from the old broken one.Moderator edit: Link removed. Search Github for “sonos-playlist-rebuild”
Hi community,Today I'm mad about why Sonos does not supports Wi-Fi extensors, not by this, I already know the reasons. But after making another network for only Sonos devices with wifi 4 (not 5, 6 and not even 7) after randomly it disconnected and tried several times (more than 10 times) to re-connect to this optimal network for Sonos and got nothing after 2 hours. I only now access to my devices that are wired because I try to connect them wirelessly and it does not appear, I re-established all my devices, reboot all my wifi, and my phone and nothing happened, I try and try, I uninstalled the app and installed it again and nothing, even it got worse, now the app can't find my devices (before was only the internet problem).I think it could be an app problem, my S23 got updated today but then I tried in another S23 without update and it is the same, in my PC (Win11, up to date) and nothing. I don’t know what to do, I've tried everything, usually I don't need help to do things, even diffi
My cable remote wont function when my sonos Ray device is plugged in, is there a work around?i cant change channels with the remote until i disconnect my sonos ray device
Moving to a new place and planning my TV surround setup. I already have the Arc Ultra, but I'm looking to add at least two rear speakers. Space is pretty tight in the new layout. Does the layout in my attached drawing look reasonable for good sound?
I just got a Sonos and have it hooked up to a port which plays through my tower speakers and then also one other speaker in the house. When I went to go turn it off, I turned off my Morantz system Which the port runs to, but the speaker itself just kept playing music. How do you turn it off for good versus just pausing it I also couldn’t close out of the app
I relocated back to Australia from UK and having difficulty connecting my beam to my TV. Both products were purchased in the UK, appreciate help from somebody
Since I downloaded Sonos 2 for a new device my older soundbar does not work.
Saludos.
Hello,I am currently abroad and have an urgent issue with my Sonos system at home.A Sonos alarm appears to have been triggered unexpectedly, and according to my neighbor it has been ringing continuously for a long time. The system is located in Barcelona, while I am currently in another country and cannot physically access the speakers.I have tried using the Sonos app remotely but have not found a way to disable the alarm or stop playback. Unfortunately, my neighbor does not have access to my apartment. My questions are:Is there any way to disable or delete a Sonos alarm remotely when you are not connected to the same local network? Is there any way to stop playback remotely through the Sonos app, web app, or Sonos account? Are there any emergency options available in situations like this?Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as the alarm is disturbing my neighbors and I am unable to return home for several days.Thank you in advance.
Sonos is the worst company had Sonos ones and roam threw them all out too buggy app is trash I switched 3 years ago from my current system but it has never worked properly always had issues felt bad throwing away because of how expensive everything was but after 3 years and countless frustration I have finally decided to throw out the system and it was the best decision I ever made.
How can I synchronize the volume of my Sonos Ace headphones with the TV volume? I want the TV volume to also decrease when I unplug them and lower the volume on my headphones. Currently, when I unplug them, they don't return to their previous volume levels; instead, the TV defaults to volume level 15, and the Ace to volume level 60. This happens every time I switch between them. It's a problem because the whole point of using headphones is not to disturb people nearby, and if you're using them at night, you don't want to disturb people who are sleeping. Now, when you play the sound back, the TV volume is too high for that time of night. Sonos should find a solution.
Sonos S1 Music Library Restoration Guide (Zero-Trust & VLANs)This guide provides the technical blueprint for connecting a legacy Sonos S1 speaker system to a modern storage backend (e.g., TrueNAS) across segmented network VLANs.The ChallengeSonos S1 systems rely on SMBv1 and NetBIOS, both of which are deprecated and insecure. Modern NAS systems (TrueNAS, Synology) often disable these protocols by default. Furthermore, cross-VLAN communication for Sonos is notoriously difficult due to its reliance on discovery and specific "ghost ports" used during the library registration process.Architecture OverviewTo maintain security while supporting legacy hardware, we use a Raspberry Pi SMB Proxy:TrueNAS exports the music library via NFSv4 (Secure/Modern). Raspberry Pi mounts the NFS share and re-exports it via Samba (SMBv1). Sonos Speakers connect only to the Pi on a dedicated "Legacy" VLAN.1. Raspberry Pi Proxy ConfigurationOptimized NFS Mount (/etc/fstab)To prevent the Pi from hanging duri
Using the Ace headphones, while using TV swap, it is noticeable 2.0 stereo source sound better with spatial audio off, and multi channel (dolby/atmos) sounds a lot better with spatial audio on. yet it is a hassle to switch that manually every time based on my source. hence it would be amazing if sonos would do that automatically. like auto choose opt-in.
I’m looking for some help here or if anyone else is having this issue.I just moved into a new house. I’ve got a new Wi-Fi network and a bunch of speakers that I’m trying to add back to the system. Sonos recognizes a few of them when I go through the network system to update my network. I have several play threes and play ones that aren’t showing up. When I go to add speaker or component, I get a pop-up message saying that my app needs to be updated. However, when I go to the system settings at showing, I’m on the latest version of the app and there’s no updates. When I go to add speaker and clip on the pop-up that says update app, it sends me to a random website that I’ve attached a photo to here. Testflight.apple.com I’ve been on chat with Sonos support for over an hour and then are unable to diagnose anything. My iPhone 16 is on the latest software version, I’ve uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, and I’ve reset my network in the app. Nothing seems to be working. Let me know if a
Hi. I’m curious if anyone out there has any current experience successfully installing the Sonos Controller in a Linux based OS, specifically Zorin. I say “current” because almost every thing I’ve found on this subject is from some years ago, so just looking for something hopefully a bit more current.I have an old W10 laptop converted to Zorin OS, Zorin because it’s the most Windows like, they say. When it was running W10 I could run the Sonos Controller and I play music through our Sonos ARC. I’d like to be able to do that with Zorin if possible. With the Zorin OS I’ve been able to a point in the installation process where it almost completes the installation but but fails with the following: Any thoughts, comments or questions would be appreciated. Thank you.
After downloading the newest software update this past week, I tried TruPlay again and the initial test tone from my main seating position is no longer there. It only has the room walking calibration method. Called tech support and they are now aware this is the case on iOS iPhone. Anyone else have this problem?
Let’s have this discussion as more of your clients have big theaters you know the arc has limits. The 2 subs have limits. Why would a thread get booted that means progress. Sonos will not fill all our needs. Don’t believe that and they know that. No one thought 2 subs was a possibility. Guess what? Move forward. I want 2 Arcs and 4 subs. I will wait. I come from a pro audio environment. I watch a lot of concert & festival content. High dbl. Sonos will eventually give us options. I have believe.

The initial test tone used to work and still works with new software update on my Arc Ultra.
Hi all,I'm looking for feedback from users who regularly manage playlists rather than simply play music.I've been running a Sonos system for many years and, after the 2024 disastrous app launch, I stayed on the older S2 app and avoided firmware updates because playlist editing and queue management were critical to how I use Sonos. My system currently consists of:3 x Play:3 Play:5 Gen 2 Amp RoamMy music comes from:Amazon Music YouTube Music iBroadcastI often create Sonos playlists containing tracks from multiple services and regularly:Add and remove tracks Reorder playlists Edit queues Save queues back to playlistsI also make heavy use of the desktop controller because I find playlist management on a large screen much easier than on my Android phone. The reason I'm reconsidering upgrading is that without upgrading, I can’t run the desktop application on on my Windows 11 PC without updating the system. For anyone who manages Sonos in a similar way:How good is playlist editing in the current
Hi everyone,I've mostly been using a headset for gaming on my PS5, but I'm thinking about switching to my Sonos setup for single-player games when I don't need voice chat. For those of you who game with Sonos:Which Sonos speakers or soundbar are you using? Have you noticed any audio delay or lip-sync issues while gaming? Are there any settings that improve responsiveness or overall sound quality? Do you switch back to a headset for competitive games, or is the Sonos setup good enough for most situations?I mainly play story-driven games, so I'm looking for the most immersive experience rather than a competitive advantage. I'd be interested to hear what has worked well for others.
