Urgent: How can I disable a Sonos alarm remotely while abroad?

Hello,

I am currently abroad and have an urgent issue with my Sonos system at home.

A Sonos alarm appears to have been triggered unexpectedly, and according to my neighbor it has been ringing continuously for a long time. The system is located in Barcelona, while I am currently in another country and cannot physically access the speakers.

I have tried using the Sonos app remotely but have not found a way to disable the alarm or stop playback. Unfortunately, my neighbor does not have access to my apartment.

My questions are:

  1. Is there any way to disable or delete a Sonos alarm remotely when you are not connected to the same local network?
  2. Is there any way to stop playback remotely through the Sonos app, web app, or Sonos account?
  3. Are there any emergency options available in situations like this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as the alarm is disturbing my neighbors and I am unable to return home for several days.

Thank you in advance.

Supposedly the Sonos Web app allows remote access.  Go here and login using your Sonos credentials:

play.sonos.com

I wonder if Sonos support has access to do that if you call them?

It has access to remote play but it does not control alarms. It is crazy that the app no longer recomgnises any of the speakers when i am not connectedvto the same wifi network. Even my air refreshener which cost me 15eu allows me to do that..

Any idea what their number or email might be?

@christo22222 Lots of people see this as a feature, not a fault.

If lots of people are reporting issues with turning off their alarms when away, then the issue is nuanced and Sonos should work on providing a solution for it. A feature which cannot be controlled/turned off becomes a limitation. For the market value Sonos is claiming to aim for, this should not be a possible route to justify lack of intelligence in their platform. The ammount of open threads on this online suggests there are also tons of people seeing this feature as underwhelmingly executed.

Are you 100% sure its Sonos? Could it be another device in your house?

Two work arounds if it is Sonos making the alarm (chime) sound:

  1. How well do you get on with your neighbour? Could you temporarily change your Sonos password as sonos.com, ask your neighbour to go outside your home, connect to your WiFi and install Sonos App and turn off alarm?
  1. Do you know what time the alarm is set for? As mentioned above, if you go to play.sonos.com a minute or so after alarm sounds, you can mute alarm in room(s).
