Think twice before you install the new SONOS app as at least the following features are no longer available (temporarily or permanently):Sleeptimer has disappeared completely. Either you sleep the entire night with music on or you wake up to switch off the music… Quite defeats the purpose. Alarms: creating and editing an alarm is no longer possible. You can only toggle an existing alarm on and off. Local music library: make sure you don’t remove it as it is no longer possible to add a local music library stored on a NAS or shared device. Also the search doesn’t work on the local library any longer; it only searches the online music services. Sonos seems to have finally let down its initial user population that made Sonos big before music streaming services existed…Either this is a deliberate choice by Sonos to reduce the functionality or someone validated a pre-beta release for production to meet some preset deadlines… In any case, don’t upgrade if you need these features.
Fixed for me using 80.04.04 on my iPad:Sonos Favorites now shows all of my Favorites not just the first 18 items. It now behaves just like the new Sonos web app. Thank you.Still an issue for me:Selecting the Plex Service still “occasionally” times out on the first attempt before returning anything. It generally works on the 2nd attempt. Sonos can you please increase the timeout when waiting for the Plex response. The old Sonos 16.1 app on my iPhone and the new Sonos web app doesn’t have this problem, just the new Sonos IOS app.I am still choosing to use SonoPad for local music library playback, mainly because the new Sonos app still doesn’t support the A-Z positioning for Artists and Albums which makes it unusable with a large music library containing a lot of Artists/Albums to manually scroll through . Once this issue is fixed, I hope to start using the new Sonos app for everything again.Ross.
I have a few recurring issues with google voice and my Sonos ones. Either when I ask to play a radio station the response is OK playing xxx radio station. Sorry I can’t find what you asked for. Or sometimes when I ask to play artist name I get Sorry I can’t do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices. And sometimes this commands work… wondering if Alexa might be more helpful? We use Google WiFi and have a WiFi point in the neighbouring room to one of the Sonos ones and I wondered if this might cause something funky to happen as I don’t think this was a problem until I upgraded the WiFi points and now have one which is voice enabled. Can anyone help? Please!
Hey All,I work in an office with 30 people who all use Wi-Fi. We have 7 Sonos speakers set up throughout the office: 6 Era 300s and 1 Arc.Very often, when we try to group the Sonos together, we get the message “unable to connect, try again later.” Only one speaker will connect and the others wont.Is there a way to fix this issue?
Older Play 1 and PlayBar wont connect and register since latest app release 80.00.20.The latest release is a shambles and there is no acceptable reason its so full of errors. The developer/manager needs firing. The old Sonos 1 app now tells me to go to Sonos 2 App, which tells me I might have to downgrade my units but thats not working atm.I have a PlayBar and a Play 1 that now wont register and connect since latest updates to Android app. When is this going to be fixed.BTW I am network engineer and my Ethernet and Wifi network is working correctly.Users shouldn't need to constantly restart or power off/on my router, this is shoddy app coding. If I cat get this fixed will be looking for a refund
It’s now July - no fixes to the system / app update. May I suggest a fix?…. get rid of the CEO.
So after getting the app update yesterday my Sonos system is now destroyed. The new app does not work - could not play anything, would not connect to my music library. Tried resetting the app - this did not work. Have just reset the entire system, reset teh speakers and now it is even worse as I cannot re-connect the speakers! Waht the f*** is going on?Please can you revert to the app that was working perfectrly well on Tuesday? I now have 2 speakers that I may as well throw in the bin.Can anyone recommend another decent speaker system as I fear Sonos has just shot itself in the foot...
Hi all,in light of the app update disaster and similar issues I’ve discovered that my two Sonos One speakers can’t be operated via my controller on my laptop (Win 11), but they work fine via my phone using a rolled-back version of Sonos 2 software. This is what I get:However, both are shown as connected on my Virgin Media router dashboard. I haven’t changed the router or the network name. All was working fine until the latest update. For clarity here’s what I have done:Turned the router off - three timesRebooted laptop - three timesPlugged Sonos One to router - twice. Didn’t show.Uninstalled the S2 controller - twice. Still can’t access the system.Rebooted my NAS drive with my music library on it - three timesRolled back to V16 of the S2 app on my phone and got access to my library and alarms.Ranted and raved about the poor quality of Sonos’s approach to this whole thing - still going. Any solutions appreciated. Thanks
Struggling with the new app since it was first available . As a SONOS user for many years with several SONOS products , this app does not reflect in any way the great system I’ve enjoyed for so many years . The app is awful . The room controls and volume settings simply don’t work . I am unable to get sound from the TV to my surround sound ( playbar plus sub plus two play 1’s) . The apply button on the volumes is a bewildering feature does anybody know what it actually does ? On my system it stops the sound completely :-( SONOS favorites list gone . I’ve given up trying and now just use the TV speakers . And yes, I’ve unplugged everything a million times and reset a million times etc . Please , please give me back the old app .
I have asked this question before but didn’t get an answer. when my Roam runs out of battery and I plug it in it won’t turn on for like 15min. is this a flawed design or my speaker is malfunctioning? thabk you
As an avid Sonos fanboy, I am crushed. For the first time in my long Sonos relationship, thanks the new Ace headphones, I have experienced a terrible user experience from their products.Initially, I was forgiving with the lack of Android support at launch (I have an iPad and my wife has an iPhone), but it became immediately clear that Sonos has shipped a half-baked product. Frustratingly, the hardware has built-in-in functionally for many features, but the software cannot fully support them.I was mostly excited with the touch pass feature between my Arc and Ace headphones. This was the killer feature that I was waiting for. Dolby Atmos and head tracking? Sign me up! After spending a solid hour just making the handshake happen between the Arc and the Ace, I still could not get this feature to work, either with the content key or through the app. By the end of the night, I was left with a fancy pair of Bluetooth headphones. Before heading to bed, defeated, I logged into my Sonos account
Some feedbackI am very unhappy with the latest App update. Why is the alarm clock symbol missing from the homepage? It now takes too many steps to get to this page. The app is very clunky, takes ages to group rooms. it has real difficulty switching from Sonos radio to Spotify and back. It is nowhere near what the system was like for the last ten years. If Sonos started outwith an App that’s this poorly thought out and non-user friendly, it would have flopped. Please go back to a user-friendly format
To the engineers and developers who worked on this project, I am sorry, this is a major fail. I imagine you all in a conference room working in your little scrum teams with your white boards littered with notes. But the one note which was missed was the #1 requirement of end users of all music related apps, that is they MUST be user friendly. Quick and easy access to the features. My advice too quickly right the ship, is to focus the majority of your efforts in creating an easy option for users to revert to the previous version within the app. Those who are ok with the new version can stay put. The sooner you accomplish this the sooner this fire goes out!
Well, ever since the NEW APP came out, my pair of Roam Speakers would cut in and out when grouped to my Beam...ONLY when listening to anything from the TV Source. It was suggested that my wireless system could be the issue. Never understood this as I would never have issues when grouped, listening to audio from the Sonos Controler.Now...now my Roam Speakers are useless. Utterly Useless. I started losing volume on the Roams when grouped yesterday, again with my Beam and again while listening via the TV Source. I can set the volume and then leave the App, only to have the volume level drop from 60 to 0. It started slowly but NOW I am unable to group my Roam speakers due to this zero volume level thing going on now constantly. They are not useless...not too bad as book ends…I specifically purchased the Roam believing I could group these to my existing system to listen to both TV Source Audio along with other audio sources.I find that this system is glitchy at best with a downright poor cus
Hey everyone,Has anyone had issues with grouping room audio on the new update of the Sonos app. I start playing audio in one room and then when I go to the drop down and add a room, I get a message saying ‘unable to connect, try again later’. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution? This along with other delays and issues have been happening since the app updated.
I have the sonos app downloaded on two iPhones and an iPad. Out of the blue one of the iPhones says it does not recognize an existing Sonos system, but the other iPhone and iPad work fine. Try to connect the iPhone and I can’t find anything, wants me to reset my router. this is absolutely stupid, because it worked literally two hours ago. What could go wrong? What kind of a glitch in the software creates this glitch, how ridiculous!!
After an update yesterday, I get no TV sound from either of two Sonos Playbases in my house. The Playbases can still play streaming radio stations as well as content from my networked media library. It is only TV sound that does not work. I tried resetting and reinstalling one of the Playbases, but it did not correct the situation. I’m pretty sure the problem is from the update because both Playbases were affected at the same time. Does anyone have a similar problem or know a way to restore the TV sound to the Playbases?
Many movies use the center Chanel for dialog. AMP currently has no support for a physical center channel speaker. My work around is to use a gen 2 sound bar as a separate system in the same room with the amp connected to the ARC channel and the soundbar using optical output from the TV. This works well most of the time but sometimes develops an echo. Can you provide a software fix to sync two systems in the same room or allow the amp stream to a center channel. My current setup is also great for music as my older Sonos Faber LR speakers don’t have the top end clarity of the Sonos speakers. The AMP is a great product that could be marketed for home theater applications if iit has a way to support a physical center channel by coupling a second system better and you could sell more hardware.
HiI’m not sure if this is related to recent app or system updates, but have recently noticed a change in Speech enhancement function on my Arc.Whilst watching Doctor Who on BBC iPlayer I noticed the speech was very quiet. I checked the speech enhancement setting in the app and it was switched off. It was switched back on and the sound improved a bit.The next night the same issue occurred.Previously after the setting was switched on, it remained activated. Now it seems to disable itself and needs to be manually turned on each evening. Is anyone else having similar problems .
The current update does not function on either one of our Motorola G7 phones. Hangs on splash screen, eventually pops a program not responding wait or close message. Selecting wait will finally open the program. Have restarted phones, uninstalled-reinstalled, cleared caches. No joy. Android 11 OS. Also the Mac version won’t function on my iPad, but that is a separate issue. Requiring iOS 16 is stupid. My iPad will not accept that operating system so I have a virtually bricked system on all devices.A quick search shows that I am far from the only one having this or similar problems. This is entirely unsatisfactory.
I just purchased Sonos move2 how can I register for the warranty thanks
When I play at 80-100% of the volume level, sonos reduce the volume when the drops come. I don’t understand why and how can I deactivate this?
Just bought my first Sonos Ray , installed the app(s2) get to the part were Ray is to connect to my Bt hub but refuses as app needs updated. I have tried but app not updating, no connection it says. How do I get around this problem?Old man aged 68! Help,
It looks to me like the new app was actually designed and built for IOS. Corners of surfaces/views are far to rounded, theres no navigation drawer, no toolbar, no bottom, sheet, snackbar, floating action button etc standard UI components that Android users are use to. Anyone else on Android feel this way? Also some of the design choices are weird, the mini player/now playing screen bottom corners are rounded they should be straightned out so they blend in to the navigation bar, and why the mix of circles and square images looks awful to me especially in grids.
I can't connect sonos ray and sonos sub mini together
