Controllers and Music services

Hi! Just set up a new CONNECT to my existing home audio system, installed the app on my Mac, iPad Pro, iPhone X, and am able to play music from the Mac and iPad, but the iPhone X (current iOS) does not want to allow access to the iTunes library on the phone. In the app, I use the 'Browse' button, and select 'On this iPhone', and then am prompted to 'Grant Permission' which takes me the phone's system settings,specifically the SONOS app settings, and all toggle switches are green (on), except 'Cellular Data' is off to conserve data usage. When I switch back to the the SONOS app, there is no change in access to the music library on the iPhone. I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, I've synced with my Mac, and still no change. Any thoughts?

I have recently purchased a Kindle Fire 7 - the first of these devices that I've owned. When loading the Sonos software initially, I found it on the Amazon app store, and it worked fine. I didn't know how to lock off updates (which are locked off on all my other devices) so it autoupdated to 8.5. I've changed all the other devices to 8.5, but no matter what I do the update marker still shows on the Kindle Fire version. I've de-installed and re-installed, I've now found out how to stop auto updates on the Kindle, but nothing seems to make any difference - it still shows as an available update. It seems to be running the latest version. I've also enabled the external store option, but it doesn't make any difference. It does get into a logic loop, if I take the update option - if I click update now, then it says that 'sonos app needs updating'. Click update then I get 'continue to the amazon appstore'. Cancel goes back to 'sonos app needs updating'.'Continue' takes me to the appst

Using apple iPad 11.2.6, I installed the sonos app, its asking for an update which takes me to the AppStore which takes me back to the app and so on. App Store not showing any update but app isn’t working without an update.

I want the finest Chrome extension for Sonos known to man. I want it here, and I want it now.

I have a couple of Sonos speakers (actually, two sets, in each of two houses). If someone else comes over and has the Sonos app, he/she will presumably be able to connect to my speakers. Will that person see his or her music? I guess what I'm asking is: is the music list a property of the account, or of the hardware? If it's a property of the account, as I assume it is, where is it stored? (If it's in the cloud, on the Sonos servers, does that mean I can't play music if my external internet is down?)

Hey Ryan - I see a controller update was released for iOS today but the release notes are generic. “Every update delivers upgrades and improvements...” Usually you guys are good about putting details in release notes. Please tell me this isn’t the beginning of Facebook-style release notes. From a user perspective, updates to the controller mean updating the speakers, which is inconvenient (more for some than others). Providing a reason for updating let’s us know the purpose for the inconvenience and probably results in more positive sentiment. Thanks.

It’s installed, but I can find no information on what is in the release. Any ideas?

I have been selling sonos for several years now as a good distributed audio option. But the New UI is so bad Im having second thoughts on new jobs. It took me 15 minutes to figure out how to change rooms without having to select one room in the group and unselect the other. It still takes more clicks through menus to do the same things now. I have had endless calls from clients with the same problems or problems finding their playlists etc. Im actually looking into selling the DTS Play-fi systems instead because of this.

After i installed the latest update i can no longer connect to Sonos. Tried all the steps with no luck.

I have a Sonos Connect and am controlling it with Android 5.0.1 phone. I have yet to get this working for me. The cast icon shows up intermittently and when it does, if selected, pops up a screen that says finding devices and just sits there. I have signed in and out and restarted both Pandora and Sonos with no luck. Any hints what to try to get this working?

Is it possible to reduce the maximum attainable volume, making each increment of movement of the volume slider smaller to allow finer control of the volume?

Can you please let me know when will sonos play be upgraded to support Chromecast? Will such upgrade be applied and supported on already purchased sonos play 1 devices?

I’m getting access is denied on certain albums on my iPad, but others work correctly.

Seems like an easy question. However, I can't clear a song (while on the controller) in the queue because the clear queue tab is grayed out. I think it's Tidal track from one of my kids phone. At the top where the pause, backward and forward buttons are there should be the possibility to add a Stop button and a clear song button. Has anyone ran across this? Thanks Darryl

Updates by cell based internet connection

I originally put down an intermittent failure of the Sonos controller app to connect to my PLAY:1 to wifi issues and (while not happy) just lived with occasionally not being able to play. I have recently moved the PLAY:1 right next to my wifi router and have been working next to it for the last couple of weeks. Generally all good, but occasionally the Sonos controller will report "Sorry, we can't connect to Sonos". I have the app installed on two iphones and both report the same issue. However, if I press the Play button on top of the PLAY:1 the player works just fine (streaming the last radio station I was listening to) - I can pause and restart the stream no problem at all, but bother phones report no connection. Having previously been round the loop of switching off/on wifi, restarting/resetting router, re-installing controllers, physically connecting the PLAY:1 to thr router - all to no avail - the 'no connection' issue just reoccurs ran

Hi there, Loving my new Sonos play1, it works seamlessly with my iPhone, mac etc and means no faffing around. And most importantly, it sounds amazing. The OSX software is good, however it really needs to be updated for retina displays - it is quite badly fuzzy on my MacBook and just takes away from the glossiness the system has... I imagine this is going to be reported more now that the new iMacs are retina as well. Also, just a note that it really needs to access Spotify radio. Playlists are great, but I often list using the former.

I have two systems. One installed at my company, the second just installed at our house. We have adult teenagers and see a need for two things. 1) A password to prevent unauthorized changes to the settings – very important! 2) A volume limiter, so the teenagers do not play too loud – either to disturb neighbors or blow out speakers. Solutions. We already turned down settings on amp (episode) to its lowest level, Still too loud. Any suggestions to enable lockout or lower settings?

Coming from Winamp, I have to say there are a few small things that I find make a big difference in the control of my music. The one I'd like to mention here is "Stop after current" which does exactly what it says. That's a nice feature to have if I'm on my way out or just don't want the rest of the queue to kick in. As an aside, the queue resuming after I've picked a single song to play is actually really nice, IMO, but if I just didn't want it one time and I figure 'oh i'll just clear the queue and this will be the last track' but it stopped my music immediately. I don't really get that, I must say. The thing currently playing isn't IN a queue so why would it be dropped too? Like if you were waiting for a teller at a bank... when you're at the teller you're not also queued up, right?

I am new to the Sonos world and am currently testing out a Sonos Play:1 before deciding whether to fully jump in with their system. If Sonos adds Chromecast support to its speakers such that various Sonos rooms become castable destinations natively from Android apps that are compatible with Chromecast, would this require a hardware or a software update? If it is a software update, I would have hope that this could be added to existing Sonos speakers and then I can go ahead and expand my system. If a hardware update is needed, I may hold off on purchasing speakers until this feature is added. I recognize that Chromecast compatibility has been discussed at length in these forums, but I have not seen an answer to this question yet.

Since the Alexa upgrade it does not appear possible to access the Sonos Support Info (track count etc). If there is a new way to get at this info can you please point me in the right direction? Or, if the info is no longer accessible, can it please be reinstated asap?

Why do I have to go to the Sonos App Store each time I open Sonos????

Title says it. some posts seem to indicate that's how autoplay works (or doesn't). After the signal that triggered autoplay goes away, why doesn't it revert to what it was playing before? maybe with a configurable timeout? This seems like such a big oversight...

I’ve just bought a pair of One’s & am enjoying them as my dining room set up in stereo. I find the sound acceptable for casual listening. I’ve got a classic Nad 3020 amp & monitor audio Rs1’s in the living room. I love the sound of this set up. Is hooking up a connect to these a better option than say buying a Play 5? Sound quality is very important to me but I’m not running audiophile quality equipment. How does the connect sound? Any input appreciated.
