Do you have any plans to bring the Sonos controller app for the Windows desktop to the Microsoft Store? I prefer to install software on Windows only from the store, where I'm somewhat guaranteed a better experience than a stand-alone installer - e.g. the app will be nicely sandboxed to not slow down my system, I'll get automatic updates whenever you release any, I'll get notifications/live tiles if you'd like to offer those, etc. Now that Spotify is in the store, it would be great to have Sonos there too. Please note: I'm referring to your existing desktop app - not a mobile app for Windows phone or anything like that. Many thanks!
I have 2 Roku Premier Plus boxes. The first is hooked to my Marantz receiver which distributes the HDMI signal to the TV. I have a Harmony remote to control the volume for all devices even though I need to use the sonos remote or app to pick the music. I accidentally picked up the Roku remote while streaming Netflix and pushed the volume button on the side and the volume went up and down on the Marantz receiver. I'm pretty sure that is new with the latest Roku update but maybe it's been there the entire time? Anyway, I went up to my bedroom where I have a Playbar and Sonos Sub and ran the firmware update on that Roku box in hopes that it would also control the volume. It did not. That set up doesn't have an amp, the HDMI from my Roku goes into the TV and my HDMI from my DircTV goes into the TV and then an audio out goes to the soundbar. The Dirctv remote knows to send an IR signal to the Playbar to control volume but the Roku does not have IR. Does anyone know if there is a way
This seems like a no brainer to me. DJ Apps on the iPad are great, but sound output is limited, you have to be cabled. I Believe if this was a reality i would have already bought 2 more play 5 to replace my wired amp & speaker set up. Streaming the output from these apps to a multi room event would be a match made in heaven, its what Sonos set out to do isnt it? Then think of the commercial application, bars, clubs, open ipad night... THATS A FREEBIE BUT IM AVAILABLE FOR CONSULTATION 😉 Thank you & please support this idea. Matt ...and why not any laptop app come to mention, Logic, gargeband, reason, ableton etc etc - This could be big.
Given that Google Assistant is coming, I was wondering if supporting Cortana on the One is on the books? 🙂
New feature request. Would be nice addition to the alarms function if instead of just being able to have grouped rooms included in the alarm, being able to select which rooms to group for the alarm. In my scenario, I have certain rooms that are grouped at night for a bedtime alarm that begins a certain playlist. In the morning, I would like to have an alarm that plays a morning playlist in a list of grouped rooms that are not necessarily the same as the bedtime alarm. Now those rooms have to be already grouped in order for an alarm to work. I want to be able to specify which rooms should be grouped when the alarm is executed, even if they are not currently grouped.
Hey there, does Sonos have any kind of (non-physical) theft protection? Since I registered all my speakers with my Sonos account, this could be possible. Are there any plans for this? I'm thinking of something like the activation lock that Apple provides for their devices (see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201365)? Kind regards, Klaas.
Will the Connect products be functional with AirPlay2?
Is there a way to airplay from Sonos One to other airplay2 compatible devices? For example stream a radio station via the Sonos app to both Sonos One and HomePod. I can do it if source is airplay from iPhone, but then phone needs to stay connected.
Is there a way to prevent another user from over riding what is playing already from my phone? For example, if I am playing music from my phone and my son logs into the app on the ipad it automatically starts his music even though it was originally started from my phone.
I have my play5 line input connected to my bedroom tv. I usually have the tv on in the morning and play music in the evening. Is there any way I can resume playing the queue where it previously left off? I see that I can show the queue from now playing when the line input was selected, but I have to manually scroll through the queue and find where I think it left off and select the song. It would be nice to just hit a resume button or simlar command. The fact that the queue is still intact with the whole playlist I had selected of several thousand songs, it seems it would be easy to remember where it stopped playing.
Hi Guys, a recent Sonos update seems to have stopped one of our Android tablets from running. I have factory reset the tablet and re-installed the Sonos App but it still doesn't. Any ideas how to get it working again? Many thanks!
Hi I seem to have to constantly update the various controllers that we have in our house (which is a little frustrating), but now I find that all my playlists and 'Sonos favourites' are missing. Please can you tell me how to restore these. Thanks.
Tried searching for "Vista 6.4" but could not find a relevant discussion (eg via Beta) My main desktop PC runs Vista (still supported by MS, of course) Works fine for me not intending to change it for around a year or so I'm in the middle of big house upgrade that will include wired ethernet and a Sonos system; have 10 Sonos units currently set up under 6.3 & ready to deploy around the new house when it is finished Have several android 4.2+ tablets with 6.3 app installed for local room control. Got the "Sonos 6.4 is coming. Here’s what you need to know." official email yesterday: Seems I will be able to cope with the tablet app change, but am saddened that a my OS, still fully supported by MS, is being trashed by Sonos. So my question is: Is my best bet to just resist 6.4 updates until later when I've changed my PC, or will I be able to retain the lost PC functionality via the tablets?
Lone Sonos One speaker paired properly with Playbar and Sony TV. Later, for some forgotten reason, I repeated the setup and added a "room" with another name -- but it's just a duplicate of the original room. But now, when I attempt to cast media to my television, Sonos defaults to this second "room" I created by mistake and only plays audio -- no television video. The simple fix would be to delete this added "room." But how? I see no delete option...
Stumbled across odd behaviour, wonder if anyone else has seen this. I have 4 Sonos units, and everything up to date at v9.0.1. All my Sonos boxes are on and playing music. My iOS controller thinks I have 4 Sonos zones. My windows 10 desktop thinks I have 4 zones. My other windows 10 desktop thinks I have only 2 zones (but play/pause controls all the zones, even the ones it doesn't know about). I got into this situation by briefly switching off a Sonos box. I have gone through switching off everything, re-booting the router followed by turning on each zone. I reset the confused desktop controller app instance. I even reinstalled it, and it still sees a very different Sonos network from the one in my house. I assume it's not firewall-related as the controller app can control the Sonos. Any ideas for how to fix things?
Hi, I can see my Sonos play 1 in the airplay device list on my iPhone. However Play 5 gen 2 is not visible in the device list. The Airplay 5 is installed wireless, just as the Play 1, and working. All speakers have the version 9 firmware. Play 1 is also visible in home app, play 5 is not. Does anyone else has this problem?
Sonos is a great wireless High Fidelity system. I own 9 units, representing almost every type of component they make, and have been enjoying music and radio feeds all along... until... Rev 5.0. Hate to say it, but they finally reached the "Peter Principal" of Product Design... now it has 99 number redial, 64 microwave settings and print the size of a cheap fortune cookie. All the while I just needed to reach my 6 closest friends, nuke a hotdog and find out what I needed to be doing "in bed" later tonight. I can no longer make my hearty recommendation to my fellow AARP members because they lost their easy-to-use edge with their hard to read, hard to navigate interface. The problem is not with the user, the issue is with the designers that are 20-somethings and still able to read the fine print on the bottom of the tequila bottle and have the manual dexterity and memory imbedded in youth. C'mon... am I alone in the woods on this one? Evidently, I'm told, that they prefer to
I want to have one desginated sonos controller that I can use to store all my music on and play music via compitable sonos apps (spotify etc) what is the best Tablet/Ipad to buy
I have a Play5 connected to my Samsung TV via line in...... The sound cuts out if the volume is turned down very low via the TV. Cant have the TV volume below 4..... Normal volume returns when I turn the TV up again. I can work around this by leaving the TV volume High, and then turning the SONOS volume down to the level I want No problems with cut outs at low volume when streaming music.. I'm not a electronic wiz, but I'm thinking that the TV pumps out less current or voltage through the audio line out at low volume. And that the SONOS line in needs a specific current or voltage for it to detect audio is being played....Please correct me.... Is there a way for me to get SONOS to play the audio from my TV at very low volume????? Cheers
Hi all, I am struggling to find pieces of classical music in the Sonos app using my Apple Music account. For example, if I want to find Saint Saens Organ Symphony played by Jonathan Scott, what do I search for? Do I search for artist, track, album etc? Maybe someone can find it and let me know how they did it! Maybe this actual recording isn't in Apple Music, but how would I know this? It seems to me that classical music is not well catered for by Sonos/Apple Music, but may be I am just using it wrong. Thanks.
63741391 diagnostics I keep getting this message when I try to complete the prompted update. I’ve rebooted each speaker, Connect Amp, Bridge, modem and router. I’ve had the same setup for years and nothing has recently changed. Please help!
I had to update the Sonos Android app from 9.0 to 9.1 on a Kindle Fire HD 8 Kids edition (OS version 5.6.2.0) as the Sonos app told to do so in order to work. First the update did not really work (not sure if the OS or the app was the culprit). I had to manually uninstall and reinstall it. After some hassle it worked with the parents account. When sharing this app with the kids account it appears on the screen but it does not work / launch anymore. As the app seems to have the need to get more permissions with the update which might be a thing. The question is: did anyone experience this behavior as well? Is it a known issue? Is there a workaround? Any other app that is shared does work properly just not the Sonos one. Thanks for any answers!
I have folder.jpg files for album art in every single album folder. It has worked great so far. Now I have bought a new Synology NAS and have moved all my music folders there, including the folder.jpg files. Still works great. BUT... If I edit any music file in a folder with the NAS utilites, Sonos stops displaying the album art from the folder.jpg file in the folder. Updating the Music Library doesn't help. It doesn't even help if I delete the old folder.jpg file and put a completely new folder.jpg file in the folder. If I once have edited any music file in that folder, Sonos refuses to display the album art in any folder.jpg file from that folder any more. Why?
i bought several speakers but was never told that i had to keep updating software. i am then told i have to keep checking for software updates and it is my fault that my system forces me to update the software. there is a box saying later but that just sends you back to the update screen. Then you have to reset your password, the email comes through but there is no reset button displayed, you have to click around aimlessly until you find it.I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE MY PASSWORD. Customer unservices, we are having problems with our phones today, funny that they have problems every time i phone. To update system took 20 min meaning i missed the programme i wanted to listen to .my old transistor radio possibly didn't sound great but at least it worked every time and didn't need updating.
The usual thumbs up or down icons are no longer on the screen that displays the song that is playing on Pandora. Any ideas how to get them back?
