Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

So.. after being FORCED to update the app my system is now completely unusable. EVERY TIME I start the app it tells me I need to update. An update which, by the way, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY EQUIPMENT I HAVE!! I cannot access the account because the app only allows me to reset the password. This is on EVERY handset I have. So.. I cannot log in on any of my Android devices. My entire music library is now not playable on any of my speakers. WTF have you done!!?? What idiot thought this update was a good idea? YTF do you have to FORCE users to update an app that was working perfectly well when the update DOES NOT APPLY? Well done. You have now rendered my system entirely useless.
I would like to be able to quickly switch from a few "configurations" of speakers. That would allow me, for example, to easily group the living room, dining room and kitchen, then ungroup them to play the TV in living room (and avoid echo sound). Saving the volume as well would be very useful too: When sitting in one room, I must re-tweak the volume of each speaker of the apartment to get a great sound in that room. Is that possible? If not how do I request this? 😛
I have tired all the "solutions" I found here (Manage --> Update Music Library Now as well as deleting music folder and relinking from the settings tab). Neither is working. My playlists show up, but they are "older" versions (newly added music is not showing up). For example, I have a playlist titled "Love it". In iTunes it contains 499 songs currently. I tried both updating and also deleting/relinking the entire music folder but the "Love it" playlist still contains the old number of songs that were in that playlist (434). It's like the music files are not truly being removed from Sonos when I delete the folder from the library and then link to it again. I just verified that my iTunes Music Library XML file has a current date and there is only one iTunes Music Library XML file in my music folder. A search in Sonos for songs I know are new (they are showing in iTunes on the "Love it" playlist and should have been added) are still not showing up. I run Sonos off my PC and my mus
Looks interesting. Wonder if it properly supports stereo pairs? Also, can it use Siri to search Music? http://www.thegarageinnovation.com/suono/index.html
I've gotten notifications for several updates in the past few weeks. I have a Sonos at home and at work, and this is making for a ton of work because I have to do double the work. Is it possible to consolidate multiple updates into one release? The other issue is, in certain instances, I have to reconnect to my sonos (i.e. press the volume up & mute). Not sure what's going on. I love my sonos speakers, but these updates are killing me.
Since I downloaded the recent updates my system has become unusable. Is anyone else having the same issues?
Please consider the following suggestions for the next release: 1.) Add a Search function within the "Queue" to enable us to search for a track, artist, or album without having to scroll up and down to find the song we want to play and without having to re-add the song to the queue, thus creating duplicates. 2.) Related to suggestion #1 above, if we do add a track that's already existing in the Queue, it would be nice if Sonos tells us that it already exists in the queue to prevent duplicates and give us an option to play it now or play it next instead without having to add it to the queue again. 3.) When selecting "Replace Queue" from the drop down list, it would be nice if Sonos reverts back to the old design where it did not automatically start playing the songs in the queue. That's what "Play Now" and "Play Next" are for. Thank you!
Is it possible for Sonos to use Testflight to allow testing of beta controller software by IOS users? There is a limit of 2000 testers, but I'm sure this could be managed. I'd like to contribute to beta testing for IOS devices and I'm sure others would too. Cheers, Peter.
Hi all, Since installing 9.1 on my system, I've been having an issue with the app whilst listening to music. If say I've got the current track screen up and then take focus away from the app and go back, the current song screen is totally blank. I've got to tap something else in the app and go back for it to "refresh" the details. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Hi, I can play my sonos system through the app on my phone, but my PC controller says it can't connect to the system "Sorry we can't connect to Sonos". I checked and both PC and phone are on the same network. How can i get the PC controller to work?
I have some music apps which have playlist, albums which I listen more than a radio station. Also i want to watch YouTube video and listen to them through sonos speaker. Pls advise
Will the Homepod show up in the Sonos App itself as a speaker to select? It didn't for me and I'm wondering if this is due to an error on my end?
It would be very useful to have Sonos remember playback position for audiobook files. This is a setting in iTunes. Why can't this be implemented in Sonos? Supposedly this is implemented for aa files, but not all audiobooks are aa files, I have many in mp3, m4a and m4b format. If this can be done for aa, why not the other formats?
My old laptop died today and I was using sonos through that. I have downloaded the app on another laptop which was fine but it cant find the speakers, however I have connected my mobile successfully at the same time. as the new laptop is using the wi-fi already I don't understand why it cant find the speakers?
Do you have any plans to bring the Sonos controller app for the Windows desktop to the Microsoft Store? I prefer to install software on Windows only from the store, where I'm somewhat guaranteed a better experience than a stand-alone installer - e.g. the app will be nicely sandboxed to not slow down my system, I'll get automatic updates whenever you release any, I'll get notifications/live tiles if you'd like to offer those, etc. Now that Spotify is in the store, it would be great to have Sonos there too. Please note: I'm referring to your existing desktop app - not a mobile app for Windows phone or anything like that. Many thanks!
I have 2 Roku Premier Plus boxes. The first is hooked to my Marantz receiver which distributes the HDMI signal to the TV. I have a Harmony remote to control the volume for all devices even though I need to use the sonos remote or app to pick the music. I accidentally picked up the Roku remote while streaming Netflix and pushed the volume button on the side and the volume went up and down on the Marantz receiver. I'm pretty sure that is new with the latest Roku update but maybe it's been there the entire time? Anyway, I went up to my bedroom where I have a Playbar and Sonos Sub and ran the firmware update on that Roku box in hopes that it would also control the volume. It did not. That set up doesn't have an amp, the HDMI from my Roku goes into the TV and my HDMI from my DircTV goes into the TV and then an audio out goes to the soundbar. The Dirctv remote knows to send an IR signal to the Playbar to control volume but the Roku does not have IR. Does anyone know if there is a way
This seems like a no brainer to me. DJ Apps on the iPad are great, but sound output is limited, you have to be cabled. I Believe if this was a reality i would have already bought 2 more play 5 to replace my wired amp & speaker set up. Streaming the output from these apps to a multi room event would be a match made in heaven, its what Sonos set out to do isnt it? Then think of the commercial application, bars, clubs, open ipad night... THATS A FREEBIE BUT IM AVAILABLE FOR CONSULTATION 😉 Thank you & please support this idea. Matt ...and why not any laptop app come to mention, Logic, gargeband, reason, ableton etc etc - This could be big.
Given that Google Assistant is coming, I was wondering if supporting Cortana on the One is on the books? 🙂
New feature request. Would be nice addition to the alarms function if instead of just being able to have grouped rooms included in the alarm, being able to select which rooms to group for the alarm. In my scenario, I have certain rooms that are grouped at night for a bedtime alarm that begins a certain playlist. In the morning, I would like to have an alarm that plays a morning playlist in a list of grouped rooms that are not necessarily the same as the bedtime alarm. Now those rooms have to be already grouped in order for an alarm to work. I want to be able to specify which rooms should be grouped when the alarm is executed, even if they are not currently grouped.
Hey there, does Sonos have any kind of (non-physical) theft protection? Since I registered all my speakers with my Sonos account, this could be possible. Are there any plans for this? I'm thinking of something like the activation lock that Apple provides for their devices (see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201365)? Kind regards, Klaas.
Will the Connect products be functional with AirPlay2?
Is there a way to airplay from Sonos One to other airplay2 compatible devices? For example stream a radio station via the Sonos app to both Sonos One and HomePod. I can do it if source is airplay from iPhone, but then phone needs to stay connected.
Is there a way to prevent another user from over riding what is playing already from my phone? For example, if I am playing music from my phone and my son logs into the app on the ipad it automatically starts his music even though it was originally started from my phone.
I have my play5 line input connected to my bedroom tv. I usually have the tv on in the morning and play music in the evening. Is there any way I can resume playing the queue where it previously left off? I see that I can show the queue from now playing when the line input was selected, but I have to manually scroll through the queue and find where I think it left off and select the song. It would be nice to just hit a resume button or simlar command. The fact that the queue is still intact with the whole playlist I had selected of several thousand songs, it seems it would be easy to remember where it stopped playing.
Hi Guys, a recent Sonos update seems to have stopped one of our Android tablets from running. I have factory reset the tablet and re-installed the Sonos App but it still doesn't. Any ideas how to get it working again? Many thanks!
