i can't seem to find any instructions online anywhere to give me directions on how to import a Sonos playlist to Apple Music. I want to try and use it with CarPlay but I'm struggling find out how at the moment!
I updated to the most recent release for Android, v9.0.1. At first, it was laggy, then would freeze up and crash. When I say "at first", I mean after the first 5 minutes of use. Now it crashes immediately on opening and I can't even submit a diagnostic report because it just keeps crashing! Tried reinstalling but to no avail.
I have had two Play 1 speakers working since 2016.We recently had to change router and now the controller app version 9.2.1 (on a Samsung SM-T310) won't work as the app states "The software on this device is outdated.......", and won't go any further in letting me try to re-connect the system. The Android version is 4.4.2 and the notes for version 9.2.1 shows it works on Android version 4.4. Does anyone, particularly Sonos, know what is going on here? Can I get a software version that works with Android 4.4.2 as this tablet won't update to anything newer? Help!!!!
Updated to 9.2 but now the "manage" options are greyed out. I can't find any of my imported playlists. I am running a iMac OS X 10.10.5. I can't find any related resolutions so looking for help. Submitted diagnostics # 1769237365.
I installed Wine on Mint 19 without problems. Then installed the Win Desktop Controller .... all I see is a nice black Sonos flash fixed permanently on screen. Have to reboot to clear. Any gurus with some tips out there?
When you are on the same wireless network as my sonos play:1 device, you have all access to the device. Download the app, add device, and you are in. You can even DLNA push whatever you want to the device, provided you are on the same network. Is there a way to add a password or to lock down some services?
Hi, Whenever I use the "shuffle" feature, it always "shuffles" in the same order. Is there any way to have it shuffle the order differently? I thought it would be a random shuffle but on my system it is not random at all - always the same order. (Or maybe I am incredibly lucky and should play the lottery?). Is there a way to either mix up the shuffle order, or to have it actually shuffle in a different random order each time I choose the shuffle option? Thanks! Juggernaut
how can I prevent Sonos app [only] on my android mobile from going to sleep?
I need to update my music library and the whole manage menu is greyed out. MacOS 10.10.5 Please let me know how to get that functionality enabled.
This is since a fairly new update. Every now and then the hardware controls of Sonos on my iPad Mini 2 stops working and it happens even when there are no other Apps active on the iPad. Sonos is running all by itself. It usually happens if I pick up the iPad efter a while and wake it. Then for a short moment the iOS "Volume" icon (kind of half transparent with small quadratic dots indicating volume) appears and after that hardware control of Sonos cease to work. My only "solution" so far seems to be to restart Sonos. Then it works again, for a while. I would say this happens maybe one time out of five so it's pretty annoying. Is this specific to iPad/iPad Mini 2 or is it a general bug?
Here is a tutorial to install Sonos on ubuntu using Wine, PlayonLinux and Samba (for the music library). I/ Install the Sonos Controller The first thing to do is to install Wine and PlayonLinux so your computer can use Windows software. Open a terminal (ctrl+alt+t) and copy/paste the following line by line. sudo apt-get install wine sudo apt-get install playonlinux Then download the latest version of the Sonos Controller for Windows. Start PlayonLinux and click on "install a program". A new window opens. Select "Install a non listed program" (at the bottom). If it is the first time you use PlayonLinux you may not have this option. Then close the window and re-open it. Select "install in a new virtual drive". Name the drive however you want (but "sonos" seems a logical choice). Untick the boxes that may be ticked and choose "32-bit installation". Browse to the sonos controller you downloaded and click "next". The installer starts. Install the software (leave everything as it is)
Availability of App
Just added a Sonos Sub to my system and due to my setup (some wireless speaker setup and some hardwired speakers) the subwoofer would work better if it had separate speaker controls (like the other Sonos speakers). Is it possible this option will be available in a future update? I can't imagine that I'm the only person out there that this is a problem for.
I have a Sonos connect in my living hooked up to my AV receiver. If I'm in a different room in my house with my Mac, is there a way to also play the same music through my Mac using the Sonos Controller?
If we post enough messages they might listen. ;) So, for whatever reason I want to stick with 9.1 of the player software. However I have upgraded my PC to 9.2 and now I can't do stuff. Now I appreciate that with iOS and various app stores you can only distribute the latest versions of the controller software. But with PCs and Macs, you should have an archive somewhere of old versions of software. Are you really saying that everyone with a sonos MUST be on the latest versions! Or else! It is such a flexible system that you can't expect everyone to use it in the same way. We don't particularly do streaming so if a particular version is good enough, then why can't we stick with it.
Hi, I am interested in getting Sonos and I am trying to find out if following is possible: I want to project a movie (eg. from windows media player) from my PC using chromecast (I connect it to my projector) and play the sound by using Sonos. Is this combination possible? Thanks a lot!
any one else like to have a snooze button for the Sonos Alarm, ever tried to shut it off when you are not fully awake, have to find a smart device, unlock it, find the app, wait for it to open, find the room and hit the stop button to much effort in the morning. something like what Phillips have done with the remote switch for the HUE Bulbs (sorry for off brand) but they have a programmable button to control the lights, the same would be great for the Sonos system
sonos will play a song if I select it from the library but cannot find server if I use a playlist. This playlist is one that I have used for years.
when setting my sub, what is phase control and where should it be set to 0 or 180
So I try to update and I’m sent to Apple App Store. I select update but then a pop up requests cc info. I don’t use cc’s anymore. Is there another way to update my SONOS, please?
I have been a Sonos user for years and placed my main library on my Netgear ReadyNAS drive. This arrangement has worked great for me until a couple days ago. I loaded Plex on my AppleTV and pointed it to my NAS drive, adding the Plex server to my MacBook. I only wanted to use Plex to view videos while continuing to use Sonos for music files, so I didn’t add my music directory to the Plex server. I didn’t notice until the next day that Sonos could no longer connect to the NAS drive as it had for years. I deleted and renetered the mapping to the drive and folder but it would come back with an error that the username or password were not recognized, even though I can access the NAS drive from other programs using the same credentials. I deleted Plex from everything, rebooted everything to include my router, NAS drive, and computer. Same result. I’m stuck.
Wonder if anyone can help. I use the true play on my 2 x ones and notice when I finish and look at the equaliser, the treble and bass are both set in the middle. I prefer lots of bass and lots of treble and adjust both up. My question is that by adjusting the treble and bass am I throwing out the true play tuning, or does it help even though I’m adjusting the end result (so is there any point using true play tuning in the first place...???) Hope this makes sense!!
The Sonos apps "Search" feature doesn't seem to support free form text. Unless I'm missing something here it's never supported searching for some combination of artist and album/song. Most website Search boxes have supported this basic human interface for many years. For example, try searching for "Narcos soundtrack" or any other intuitive combination of artist and track. Works in google, works in Spotify, works pretty much everywhere except Sonos. Please fix. thanks.
This may seem like a stupid question. We build playlists by playing our library and deciding on songs for our playlists ie. dinner, upbeat, bedtime list etc. Sometimes we hear a song and can't recall if it's in a playlist. We add it to the appropriate list and then go to the list to discern if we have duplicated the song in the list. The problem is we can't organize the playlist alphabetically by song, artist or album. The library comes up alphabetically but not the play lists. Is there away to organize the play lists to identify duplicates?
My reason for buying a multi-room Sonos system was to enjoy my large PC-based music collection throughout the whole house. Removing functionality from the Windows PC controller makes this a lot less enjoyable because now I need to both use my computer and keep a phone or tablet with me all the time. I own 6 Sonos speakers now and was interested in upgrading to newer models, but now I've changed my mind because functionality is being removed for desktop users, rather than improved. Restore and improve desktop functionality or kiss my thousands of dollars' worth of business goodbye forever.
