Hello there. I’ve got a Sonos One updated to S2. I was thinking about getting a Tidal sub for the sound quality. I know there was talk of S2 including the new ability for Sonos speakers to play high fidelity streams. Has that now happened? If I play a Tidal HiFi account through my Sonos One will I get the HiFi quality stream? Is that now live ? Thanks for any help.
I know this is a minor thing, but I’m bugged by the long name under the new S1 icon on iOS. One of the things I love most about Sonos products is the clean look, so the new ...’s on my home screen are a peeve. If it says S1 on the icon, no need to say it underneath as well. Anyone else?
I download the S2 app, I did he installation and the I execute the app. I enter in the app, but I can not to do anything. The next picture shows the screen with the “use condition” but I cant to go the next step into the sonos setup. What is wrong???
I am trying to figure out which of my Sonos products are not compatible with S2. I downloaded the S2 app, but it tells me it found products on my network that are not compatible with S2. I’ve looked at the compatibility page, and it appears all my products should be compatible with S2 - I have a number of Play1’s, Play5’s (2nd gen), playbars and subs. My full product list is below. Which one(s) is not compatible? I have reviewed several discussions on this, but have not found an answer (at least the one I hope to find, lol). The Sonos Port does see my Asset UPnP server and I can select individual tracks to play. I can also add tracks individually to the queue, but am looking for a way to add the entire album to the queue at once. Selecting each song and then “Add to End of Queue” is a bit tedious. So is there a way to add the entire album at once? This function is available on another streamer I have (Moon MIND) so It seems it would also be available on the Sonos.
I’ve had trouble with the Music Library in the past with S1 (since the latest Mac OS update). I finally got it to work by turning off the firewall and giving privledge to the Sonos controller (Security & Privacy) for the disk access. Now….I noticed there is only S1 Apps available to choose. And there is something called SonosLibraryServer but no S2. The S2 app installed OK and works on other services but not my own music library (iTunes). At any rate, I had to turn off the firewall again and although the S2 controller found all the music files and lists them, I get an error when it tries to play them (file not found). I’m going to keep fiddling’ but if somebody knows the secret...please ring in.
Updated speakers and iOS devices to S2, but no sign of an S2 app yet for Mac OS - clicking the download links on the web site still take you to the S1 version, and no way in the app on Mac OS to update
Hi there, I've never posted here before so please bear with me. How can I stop S1 to S2 update? I don't want S2 based on the negative reviews and my understanding was I could stick with S1. I have a play 1 and play 3 bought around 2013 and 2011 so I assume they are legacy. I am using Android 10 on a Sony Xperia xz2. When I start S1 it prompts me to update to S2. It's done this for a few days. I seemed to be able to stop this prompt by shutting down and restarting the app but this no longer works. I am stuck on this prompt screen and can't get past it. s1 was working just fine for my system. So I would like to stay with S1 but the prompt shows compatibility issues. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
Hello, everyone. I have a houseful of Play:1 speakers (stereo paired) and a Play:5 (1st Gen). After all these years, I am finally subscribing to a music service instead of using my own library of mp3’s stored on a hard disk. I currently have Amazon Unlimited and have an Alexa, so it is great to just say “Alexa, play the album XXX in the living room,” and it starts playing. But I’m fully embedded in the Apple ecosystem (desktop, laptop, iPads, iPhone, AirPods, AppleTVs). So I would really like to use Apple Music and Siri. Yes, I bought a pair of HomePods, but they are not nearly as good as a pair of Play:1’s. (I’m about to write a scathing review of HomePods everywhere I can to dissuade people from buying them.) I have a trial membership with Apple Music right now. I’ve activated it on the Sonos App. So I can use the App to manually play music through Sonos. However, I would like to be able to use my voice: “Hey Siri, play XXX in the living room.” I know that the Sonos One has voice co
I am trying to install the S2 App on a Samsung Galaxy S9, But it will not install. I get to the User agreement. Then there is no icon to accept terms.
Whilst I understand that my Sonos Play 3 (first gen) doesn’t support Apple Air Play, why is it possible to stream Spotify music on my Play 3 directly from the Spotify iPhone app, yet it’s not possible to stream directly from my Apple Music app?
When I try to upgrade to the Sonos 2 app on my Macbook Air (using Mojave), it downloads and then when it tries to install, I get a failed message every time. Any ideas?
I don’t know that the way S2 handles room selection is ideal. (The following is all based on having S2 set to ask me what speakers/rooms to play on after “a while.”) When I select something to play, the speaker/room selection card pops up and asks where I want to start playing my selection. I have a Play:1 in the kitchen and a pair of Play:5s + Sub in our living room, all grouped as my “Main Floor” and another pair set up as my “Upstairs.” If I was previously listening to music using Main Floor, the card still has those 2 speaker sets individually selected, but it does not seem to remember that those 2 speakers are also a group. (Main Floor shows as unselected.) Things are further compounded if I go to select Upstairs. It simply adds my upstairs pair to the 2 “ungrouped” speakers that were previously playing. On top of that, if I truly did want to play music across all 4 speaker sets, that would actually be my entire Sonos set-up (thus, “Everywhere”) except Everywhere does not get ac
I just want to experience Dolby Atmos on Sonos Arc. I have disconnected Arc from TV Downloaded Tidal and subscribed HiFi plan I found “Dolby Atmos” playlist created by Tidal and played few songs I do not see anything on S2 app to indicate that whether it's playing “Atmos” or not. What would be the easiest way to experience Dolby Atmos on Sonos Arc?
Since S1 launch, cannot get two of my four speakers to update. Play 3 is connected via ethernet, fine One Play 1 is updated, another 2 x Play 1 will not update. So far have tried bringing all to same room, connecting them to ethernet, resetting speakers and adding them back into Sonos as new products. Still failing to update, and as such can’t be grouped now with other speakers. Also tried installing S2 app but as soon as it realises 2 speakers need an update it tries again and fails. Error codes usually 30 and 1001 Internet isn’t the problem
Hi, I am new to the Sonos world and I have a Beam setup with my TV which works fine. I have a large music collection on my PC and I’m experimeneting with how to play MP3's on my Beam. I've installed the Windows desktop client and I’ve created a playlist but I cannot figure out at all how to add tracks to the playlist. I have gotten music to play but only by right clicking a file and clicking “Play to > Sonos Beam Media Renderer”. This opens another player which sends the music to the other player which sends it to the Beam. Could somebody please talk me through how to add MP3’s stored on my PC into a playlist or if I can play MP3’s without using the rendere? I will confess to still be using Windows 7. It’s on my to do list for the next couple of weeks. Not sure if that has an impact of any of the above. Thanks.
I updated to the S1 controller today and now it launches, shows the interface (including my speakers, playlist, queue), and after 3 or so seconds the app crashes. The attached is the error from the Application Log. I of course rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled, ran sfc to confirm all system files are good, confirmed I’m up to date on windows updates, and I even removed the Sonos settings from %appdata%, and nothing helped. I have very little running on my machine, and the old controller did work. Googling around leads me to believe this error is within the app rather than the system (or .NET subsystem).
Can you share the intended release date and intended fixes in 12.1? Given the software usually drops 1x/month and the latest release was 6/8/20, I’m hoping there will be a new software drop soon that addresses many of the compatibility issues people are seeing with the new Arc (LPCM, AppleTV, eARC pass-through). @Ryan S Here are some of the issues I’m referring to (people with brand new eARC TVs that are having issues due to the single HDMI on the back of the Arc with other streaming devices): https://en.community.sonos.com/ask-a-question-228987/appletv-4k-lg-65nano91ana-sonos-arc-no-atmos-6844329 https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/lg-c9-and-sonos-arc-6842322 https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/atmos-apple-tv-4k-working-for-netflix-not-for-itunes-movies-6842776 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251459688?page=1
I’m being told that I need to upgrade my app to Sonos 2 but can’t get past the Terms of Use page?
Can I receive Times Radio ?
Does anyone know if there is a way to essentially add a paging function to an existing system, perhaps via a script? My client owns a business and uses several SONOS speakers tied together as multiple zones playing the same content throughout he store. He wants to be able to play background music (ie: Pandora) but add the functionality of something like pushing a mic button and announcing over the “PA”, then seamlessly returning to the original source. It is possible to add a PORT for the source but that would require one select the alternate “line-in’ source then reselect the original but that's’s less than ideal. A custom scrip that performs these functions would work as the base software lacks (AFAIK) the functionality to do anything but manual switching. Thanks!
Three years ago I initiated a thread called, “Sonos support for Hi Res Audio” and was entertained then by some of the rationalizations and, arguably, programmed responses as to why Sonos did not support Hi Res Audio. Today, I read from Sonos that in June of 2020, “Sonos S2 will enable higher resolution audio technologies for music and home theater.” WHAT? Did Sonos cave to the marketing pressures? Or is it more likely that they were controlling the narrative 3 years ago to buy time until their HW and SW Platforms were ready to roll out Hi Res Audio? I suspect this is the real story AND applaud Sonos for managing their customers until they were ready for a major platform release as these things take quite awhile (about 3-4 years) to develop, integrate and test. As I wrote then, to the astonishment and backlash from some in that forum, there were people (one called me a Unicorn) who could discern the difference in digitized formats. Perhaps, three years ago there were m
Not a huge issue, but I notice that album art display on the “My Sonos” part of the Sonos app (S2) is inconsistent. For example, under Albums, some albums show with no album art, but when you tap the album to display the tracks, the album art shows along with the track list. Even more odd, in the Songs list on My Sonos, album art shows on some songs, but not others, but from the SAME album. Further, the songs that are missing album art on the Songs list, ALL show up with album art in a Playlist. And ALL songs/albums with missing art on “My Sonos”, display the album art correctly in the “now playing” screen when it is actually playing. So the problem seems to be primarily with the main screen on “My Sonos” (where you see the lists of recently played, stations, albums, etc.). This behavior seems wildly inconsistent. Is there anything I can do about this? Am I missing a setting somewhere?
I have a Play 1 and Play 3 and this morning the S1 app said my system is no longer compatible and I would need to upgrade to S2. My understanding from the Sonos website is that I don’t have to upgrade but it seems that is wrong. I’m basically stuck on one playlist because it won’t let me access the controls. Do I have to upgrade or do I have other options?
