I upgraded my iOS and macOS clients to S2, which then upgraded my Play 1, Play 3, Play 5 (Gen 2) and Beam. Now, I can no longer play music on more than one Sonos device. When I attempt to, I get the “cannot connect to device. Try again later.” Error message. This was clearly an S2 upgrade related problem. Help!
Hi, we have a Sonos Play 3 in my daughters bedroom which we use to help her sleep playing lullabies etc, however we have been told about Moshi Sleep app. it does not play via Sonos but can via airplay it seems. However none of my equipment is that recent to allow it. If I were to upgrade to a newer component or speaker would this then work through airplay does anyone know. Ideally throughout our Sonos system? thanks in advance. john
Hi. I’m not clear whether Sonos 2 high resolution quality software will be available to Play 5 (2nd gen) and play are. I know both these speakers are compatible with new Sonos 2 but it hasn’t been explained to my knowledge if high resolution will only be possible on the newer speakers. In short, will I have to upgrade my speakers to the brand new version of play 5 and playbar to avail of the full value of the new Sonos software? Thanks
My S1 system will no longer connect to my Windows 10 laptop, but does continue to connect to my Windows 10 desktop and Samsung S8+ (Android) phone. Can you help me get the laptop reconnected?
Like many other Tidal hifi subscribers, I was super excited to learn about S2’s support of CD quality streaming, and was hoping to build a whole-house system around it (currently just have a One for a bedroom). However, being able to actually find the music you want to listen to is paramount to enjoying the app, and in this respect Sonos integration with Tidal has gone backwards from what was already a rather lackluster effort (and the reason I’ve not invested in a full Sonos system). Not only is there no way to do simple things like changing the sort order of my Tidal favorite albums to “by artist” (something that has been requested going back YEARS), but now the app now doesn’t even include the the name of the artist in the list! Are we supposed to memorize what album goes to an artist, in a list sorted arbitrarily shuffled by date added? I’m sure the canned “its entirely dictated by Tidal API” yada yada response will be forthcoming, but that is not acceptable. Other services
will a beam + gen 1 connect amp and a sub still work together as a 5.1 after the changes in may? i can’t tell based off the article if it’s just grouping the speakers that won’t work or if using a connect amp as surrounds with a beam or playbar won’t work as well.
Since Google Play Music is going away, I want to suggest that Google Podcasts be made available to Sonos so I can continue to listen to my podcasts easily. Google say that the new YouTube Music replacement for Google Play will not have podcast capability. Thanks
Ive just updated to the new S2 app and wanted to share some of my thoughts and hope to hear other peoples opinions since updating. Positives: Sound quality seems to of improved following the update, I’ve tested home cinema and music and there seems to be an improvement in clarity, seems richer. I don’t know if this is my ears playing tricks on me but I’m as happy as ever with the excellent sound quality. App opening, search and general usability/navigation seems faster. Room groups is a good feature and welcomed although I would love to see this working with Alexa so I can summon a group change via voice! Is this coming? Not so Positives: The update process is very cumbersome and should be completely automated, instead your community is left faffing about trying to work out what order to update things. I was stuck being told my system wasn’t compatible for s2 for some time with no clear instruction of what to do to update! All the hype and the chance to reinvent the UI and
I have a ZP100. I was able to control from my iPhone and Android devices using the S1 app. Those devices no longer work and the S1 App doesn't let me "Connect to an existing system". In fact, the buttons that are illustrated in the app do not match those of the ZP100, but I have completed updates in the past that required holding in the correct sequence and I attempted that sequence with no luck. When I Iog into the Sonos site, my device is connected. So I downloaded the Windows app and I am able to connect and play as normal. Up until a few days ago, I was also able to play using the Android device and a week ago the IOS device. Now I am limited to just the windows app. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I’m working from home during the Covid season. Wondering Sonos speaker (w/ microphone) can be used to pair with my PC via bluetooth and support Microsoft Teams meeting? I saw Sonos Move has microphone associated with it. Anyone ever used the speaker that way? Thanks much.
So I just had the update to the app yesterday but now get the message “unable to connect to Sonos”, I know this is not correct as removed the speakers and was able to re apply them to the app but then they were unable to connect again. Speaker and phone on same wifi, speaker work with good assistant so clearly have wifi but the app after the update doesn't work. Have tried both the S! and S2 app as well. Clearly seems to be a app issue or a server issue but no information seems to be available online? Speakers are Sonos One.
I want to stream music from my media server to my sonos Play:1 devices via upnp, but I can't figure out if it's possible or how to do it. I've checked the "Show UPnP Server" option in the app settings, but I can't find any other reference. Until recently, I had been sharing my music library via samba, but I've found this highly unreliable and would like to move away from it.I do not use Plex and I do not want to.
I am trying to upgrade to the S2 app and cannot get past the terms of use. I view and scroll all the way down but there is not accept or way to acknowledge I agree with them.
Hi Guys, My system is currently fully operational on S2. I have no legacy products on the system at all. However When I login to my account on Sonos.com it show under my product two legacy devices. A Sonos controller and a Sonos Bridge. I no longer have these devices. How can I remove them from the list? Thanks in advance STeve
As of today I can't get the S1 Controlder app to work even though Android 6 should still work? All was working OK yesterday ? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling?
Interestingly, I use Roon for my main hifi and as a byproduct use it with my Sonos setup. i have upgraded to S2, but out of curiously today plugged in my old Five and it works perfectly with Roon! So controlling both S1 and S2 with the same app, can even group zones….. why can’t Sonos app do this?
I play music using my iphone from my itunes app via airplay through my Sonos One speakers. When I am done playing music using my Sonos speakers. I turn off the music. However when I now just want the music to come out of my phone and not the Sonos speakers, they will not disconnect. I try to disconnect from Sonos but it will not let me. I have to turn off my phone in order to disconnect. I called Sonos already and they were not able to help me. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I’m wondering if I can control the volume of my Sonos Port with IKEA SYMFONISK external volume control? I’m also curious to know whether the play/pause function works too? I stream my music using Apple Music and through AirPlay (I don’t open up Sonos App to play my music) https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/symfonisk-sound-remote-white-20370482/
Can the desktop controller be updated to use with S2?
So I’ve tried playing hi-res (ALAC) files on Amp and Move after the S2 upgrade. Files up to 24/48 play back fine. 24/96 and 24/192 bizarrely play back in super-slow-mo; sounds like manually turning an LP very slowly. Under S1, these files just wouldn’t play at all. Hi-res still plays back fine using Roon, but everything is still being downsampled to 16/48. Makes me wonder if the hardware actually supports 24-bit or if Sonos if just truncating the lower 8 bits. Anyway, was hoping for native hi-res support but I’m happy to continue using Roon. I prefer the interface anyway.
The new Sonos S2 for iPhone and iPad is a complete retrograde step, stick with the old one if you can. I have had a Sonos system, 4 x Sonos 1, 1 x Sonos 3 and a Sonos sound bar for a number of years, without issue, however since upgrading the apps on my iphone and ipad, I have experienced serious connection issues, and frequently have to go to connect to the system using my Macbook Air in order to change station, or simply connect to the Sonos system. This is especially frustrating when I have to move from wherever I’m listening to the radio in the house, to the study in order to connect to and retune the system. This never happened with the old app. Before I get the usual advice about reconnecting my Sonos system to my network, the Sonos system has been completely re-installed several times, currently set to hardwired from my master speaker to the main router, and my Wifi signal strength around my home is in the region of 50Mbytes. Plus the issues only began following the upgrade, no
I have a Sonos system in which all components are on the one network. There are twelve Sonos units (Beam, Connect:Amps and Ones), and two of the Connect:Amps are legacy gen 1s. I would like to make one floor of my house S1 including the old gen 1 Connect:Amps, and one floor S2 with the remaining units. Can I have two Sonos systems - one S1 and one S2 - all on the same network? If so, are there any specific concerns, or ways that I need to set this up to make it work well? Thank you Cal
If you’re on the fence about upgrading to S2, my humble advice to you: DON’T do it! Not a mature platform. It’s slow, buggy, unstable, and should never have been released in in the condition it is in. It has transformed me from a huge Sonos fan to having zero faith and appreciation for the technology. Oh, and by the way, there really is NO additional value over S1. So there’s ZERO reason to make that move--stick with the mature option and adopt in a year or two when S2 sucks a little less--hoping that day comes sooner.
With S2 we have some improvements regarding hi-res support. I was really hoping for Tidal MQA support. Now, I am not wedded to Tidal but I do like it and would love for it be supported. Is there any chance of that happening in a new S2 world? Thanks BW.
I have three iOS devices that I use (or used to use) the Sonos app on.An old iPad running 10.3.4 (highest it’ll go to)An iPhone 6s running 12.4.7and an iPhone 5 running 10.3.4 (highest it’ll go to)All were quite happily working the speakers, the iPad was running a beta version and although it said the iOS was no longer supported and I should upgrade, it worked fine.I made the mistake of upgrading to Sonos S2 on the iPhone, assumed it was just a new version as before but it’s rendered the iPad and iPhone 5 unusable. Downloaded the latest version the older devices supported but they now say they’re incompatible and I need to put a later iOS on there (which of course I can’t do).I saw something about downgrading to Sonos S1 but after installing S1 on the iPhone 5 (last compatible version) it says it can’t be used and exits. What are the options?Am I stuck with only being able to control it with the iPhone 6s until Sonos decides I can’t use that either?Buying new iDevices just to control S
