Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

Why for the love of god are you still require users to use SMBv1 voor NAS Support? This is unacceptable from a security standpoint and your responsability as a company towards your end users. Closing topics like below one is not a solution to your flaud implementation for NAS/Samba support. https://en.community.sonos.com/setting-up-sonos-228990/sonos-support-for-smb-2-0-protocol-6739642/index9.html What is Sonos gonna do to properly support NAS/Samba.
Whats the Eta for SMB v2 and 3 ?This is why I was worried of spending this kind of money on 1 vender. Vender lock in, and apparently security is irelevant.I waited years to buy sonos, because I knew stuff like this would happen with vendor lock in….I just want ot map a Network share from a NAS. Its not magic….
Hello community, while not meant as rant, I need to voice my disappointment.Sonos requires SMBv1 since a long time now, to be able to use shared music “folders” on a local network. Requests to update are voiced from the community since years now (just search the forum for SMBv1 and error 900).SMBv1 is considered not secure anymore, and one will hardly find any software that still requires that old protocol version - save Sonos.I mitigated the issue for some time now, by isolating the network share (and the related data) into a dedicated hardware, to not expose more important files on a common file server to potential risks. No longer. This ends my journey with Sonos - as they left me with the impression, that the security of my home environment is of no interest to them. It’s sad, as I liked their product…Greetings… and good bye!
Is there a way to copy sonos playlist from S1 setup to S2? I am running a dual setup in my house and I have playlists from S1 that I would like to bring over to S2.
For as long as I’ve been using Sonos, I’ve never been able to shuffle songs on Apple Music. It’s really frustrating. Not sure if it’s an Apple issue or a Sonos issue or both. Please fix this. :) I’d be so happy.
Is there anyway to play Apple Music from the Apple Music app to my SONOS group as is possible with Tidal? What I think I know is that Air Play is available to SONOS ONE but not when they are linked up in my group?Any advice on how to do it or for work arounds would be gratefully received.
I’m annoyed EXTREMELY with the Sonos insistence that I use the mobile app to add products etc. I don’t have any password info on my mobile - they’re ALL on my laptop. So even time I have to reset something and then add back an existing product I have to find my Sonos password and enter it manually (it’s automatic on the laptop). It is annoying in the extreme.Rant over (for now).Fortunately I’m a customer for more than 10 years, so I’m not giving up the benefits of Sonos over this. A newer one might not be so forgiving.
I can see that this has been requested in the past but then the posts seem to die a death with no sign of the feature being implemented in the app so...again...why can't we set an alarm to play on a specific group of speakers rather than only having the option to "include grouped rooms"? Use case: I have speakers in a bedroom, kitchen and living room. In the evening I often want to listen to music in the kitchen or bedroom while someone is watching TV in the living room so I ungroup my speakers. In the morning I want my alarm to play a radio station or play list on all speakers throughout the house. As it stands, unless I remember to re-group my speakers before going to sleep for the night the alarm will only play in the bedroom. Why can't I have a set of ticket boxes to select exactly what speakers to play the alarm on? The only possible reason to not have this feature that I can think of is that it could cause confusion or frustration if an alarm interrupts a speaker that is alread
I upgraded to the Sonos S2 app on my Mac awhile ago and notice that the Sonos S1 Controller is still in my Applications folder. Will dragging the S1 app to my Trash completely remove it or are there additional steps to make sure any related files are removed from my system?
Hi there, since the Mac mini has no optical out I was wondering if someone can guide me what usb dac or other converter should I buy in order to get the best out of my Mac mini. Want to use the playbar with a 5.1 setup in my home office. (Mac to playbar+Sub+2play1) thanks for your tips!
Just a friendly reminder to Sonos to work on getting compatibility with Google Podcasts
Recently, the reminder that “It’s time to update” is not going away and stays on top of the screen. I get it. Sonos is becoming impatient. Fine. I will do it. But here is a sincere recommendation for the folks at Sonos:Every month I checked if there was a new meaningful release of the app. 8 months long I have been reading the same release note on the iOS AppStore: “Performance enhancements and improved reliability.” Of course, I checked the Sonos website and know about the changes in hi-res and WiFi 5 GHz. But the AppStore is your image, your business card.Sonos, this is so lazy. Take an example from other apps, whose release notes on AppStore are fun to read, which give you the feeling that there is a creative team behind the software, selling quality of life, not some generic software. Besides, reading these same release notes without end in sight gives me the feeling that S2 is ultra-buggy.This is just my thought. Don't know if other customers even read the release notes. But think
I have installed Sonos Desktop Controller 1124 (Sonos.exe version 6.0.0.34230) on a Windows 10 Pro host.Clicking the application results in the grey dialog box “Sonos” opening, and then nothing happens. I have waited 5 minutes. Looking in Task Manager the Sonos.exe is using no resources (it appears to be waiting?).I am able to use the Sonos Android Controller S1 with the same Sonos system.I am able to use Spotify with the same Sonos system.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Desktop Controller. What gives?
Sonos support folks on here have stated that the nag message to upgrade to S2 will not be cleared for users with fully-S2-compatible systems, that they want us using S2 so we don’t miss out on useful new features. Here is my system’s use case - 3 Play:3s, 8 or 9 Play:1s. None are set up as stereo pairs. We don’t have Sonos connected to our home theater. We don’t use any voice assistants aside from Siri on our phones. Don’t use Airplay. We use Pandora and Spotify and Amazon Music, and have some audio files on a NAS server. We use a couple of Alarms to start music playing in a few rooms at various times of the day. That’s pretty much it.I would love the ability to schedule grouping/ungrouping at certain times and play music to the new group. I see that asked for quite a bit. So, honest question: what new and exciting features does S2 offer me that would make me want to irreversibly change my system? How will S2 make my particular use case any better than what I can do in S1?
Can anybody tell me how to find specific songs within Playlists? I find that often songs are repeated in Playlists and I want to be able to find if a song is already in a Playlist. Thks
I can’t log into my Tunein Radio Premium service….
I cannot create a new playlist, when i press the edit, there is no option of creating a new playlist, what do i need to do? SO frustrating
When playing an album from my music library, sometimes it doesn't move to next song. The 3 bars next to the song still move up and down to indicate that it is playing, but the song has ended and the timer is on 0.00. If I manually select another song, then the app will still show the original song.
I am quite aware that this topic was asked before. I could find no satisfying answers, some were closed. How can I add my wifes audible account to mine for use with sonos from a tablet? The app enables me to use one and delete the other. My wife has her account on her mobile, mine is on my mobile. It seems that deleting one from the sonos system on the tablet deletes it from the mobile! THANK YOU! stefan
Hi, I have all current gen 2 paired 5 sub which is grouped fine. I just paired 2 Ones which are in another group. Is there a way to group all together and sync? Not used for home theatre, just music. TIA
Can anyone please tell me what was changed in the S2 App update issued on March 2, 2021 and was there any problems regarding the update ( i.e. dropping speakers, glitches, etc)? Thanks in advance for any answers
Hi, apologies if this has already been asked and answered, I could not find it in the forums. We have numerous Sonos products in the house and myself and my daughters have Spotify accounts. What I would like to achieve is as follows:If I set it up so that each person in the family has a Spotify premium account, via a family account, is the the following possible:Person 1 using Spotify account A via device 1 (say laptop) is listening through Sonos app and speaker in the kitchen.Person 2 using Spotify account B via device 2 (say smartphone) is listening via Sonos app and speaker in the basement.Person 3 using Spotify account C via device 3 (say iPad) is listening via Sonos app and speaker in the bedroom. All three of these listening sessions are occurring at exactly the same time. Is that possible or is it that one sonos network can only be actively playing back 1 Spotify account at a time?
All radio program titles have stopped updating. The music currently playing updates correctly but the program doesn't. So when I start Sonos in the morning I see last night's show title but today's tune! This happens on all providers, TuneIn, Radio player etc. It started some time ago on Sonos v1. I updated to v2 but it's the same. If I re select the same station it gets the correct program but never changes.Any ideas appreciated!
Hello,I find often that if I start a new queue say for example on my Macbook (e.g. let’s say Spotify Playlist B having previously played Spotify Playlist A, on another device, say my iPhone, it will show on now playing the correct song but when I go to the queue it will still show Spotify Playlist A as the queue even though B is playing. If I force close app and reopen it then shows playlist B correctly. System is S2, all updated, no connectivity issues as far as I can see.
In the YouTube music app I can instantly create a radio station based on a song or a playlist. As far as I can tell this is not possible in the Sonos app with YouTube Music integration. Can we expect this feature at some point?
