Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

Hi and thanks for the help. I'm on the verge of procuring an old record console from the 60's but want to make sure I can connect it to my system. I know the unit has RCA jacks labeled "tape in" and "tape out", and no headphone jack. Like consoles of it's time, it has two speakers, a radio, and the turntable. My Sonos system consists of a Playbar and Sub, 5 in-ceiling speakers with Connect:Amps attached, and a loose play 5 that I put in the most applicable room at the time. I think my solution is a Connect (not a Connect:amp) which when attached with RCA cables to the RCA in/out jacks on the connect will allow music streaming on my Sonos system to play through the console speakers and also allow vinyl playing on the console to play through the console speakers and the rest of my Sonos speakers. Am I right? I need a plug and play solution. Just want to make sure I'm doing this right before I sink a bunch of money into this.
According to Google world wide there are 466 million people with a hearing disabling, there is a wider 360 million worldwide suffer from Tinnitus (ringing/buzzing in ears)a lot of these people will have some sort of hearing aid, head phones, what a missed opportunity from Sonos not providing a app to Connect these people. And if thats not enough, what about the people that just want to sit alone with there head phones on & listen to sonos music. A big sales opportunity missed
Now that AirPlay 2 is available, we're slowly going through the process of upgrading our Play:1 speakers to Ones (well, except for those being used as surrounds - because, well you know, speaker stands). Anyway, the interior of our house is predominantly white, and so most of our Sonos components are white too. The Play:1 has a white case, but a nice complementary silver speaker grille, while the One is all white, which is nice too. We have a number of Play:5 Gen 1s as well, which also have a white case and a silver grille. Eventually we'd like to upgrade those too...however, lets face it Sonos, the white ones really aren't white are they - they're black with a tiny bit of white trim, because when you look at them from the front or even slightly side on, what is most visible is that big black grille. So, as the title asks, will Sonos produce an actually WHITE Play:5 Gen 2? Or will we have to wait for the Gen 3 (Sonos Two?), which I suppose will also have a micro
No happy that now I have to unlock my phone when my alarm goes off just to snooze or stop it, it’s absolute ridiculous, worst update so far ?
Hi there. Im migrating to Australia end of the yr from uk. Any ideas on whether i can purchase australian power cables for my sonos setup. Thanks in advance
Is the Dual XPR84D 2/1 High Performance Power MOSFET Class D 1000w Amplifier any good? I just bought an open box one for $55 dollars on Ebay.
I recently purchased a Sonos Connect. Previously I had used an Apple Airport Extreme to stream music from my macbook pro to my audio system. When I went to plug in the TOSlink, it was "too small" for the input plug. I could almost turn the TOSlink connector around in the slot. All 3 TOSlink cables I have have 2 "bumps" opposite one another. I have attached a picture with arrows pointing to the bumps, thinking it might help. The digital input on the Connect looks more like what some on the interweb have described as being D-shaped. What am I missing here? In other words, why won't my TOSlink cables work in the Sonos Coneect? Thank!!
With the new BEAM talking all about "sound", don't you think it's time Sonos, to add .wav and hi-res file playback capability to your products? If all you're concerned about is streaming, and there's no regard for people with higher quality files, then let's dispense with the Sound Quality invested in BEAM per the email solicit I just received which is shown below. Hey, I think Sonos is a decent product (despite the two plus years of constant drop-out problems, not totally figured out yet), but come on, let's get real. If you can't get Wave and Hi-Res files as part of the system, then really all you care about is streaming and Alexis and that's where your product is, and will continue to go. Giving up support for the dock (which can play wave through a classic iPod if it's docked), is inexcusable - especially if you don't support it in the last iPods sold (which you can still get in 120GB model from Apple as of July 2018) in not being able to play wave. Just one man's opinion who c
Hi. I got a new samsung tv with samsung connect. I read in this forum that you need a digital to analogue converter, which I got(think you call it a DAC). So from the tv I connected a optical cable from the ”optical audio out” to the ”optical in” in the converter. From the converter I put the red and white cable to the connect amp. I change the source for the sound to optical on the tv but no sound! What more can i do? Can i change some line-settings on the Sonosapp or something? Please help /Niklas
Hello, I'm creating zones in a new house I'm building and need some clarification. I understand that I can wire 4 speakers (8 ohms each) to 1 Connect:Amp, but typically this would be 2 left-channel speakers and 2 right-channel speakers. Can I still connect 4 speakers to the Connect:Amp if each speaker is a stereo (2 channel) speaker? Each speaker will have inputs for both the left and right channels, playing both channels through one speaker. Each speaker will still be just 8 ohms, but back at the Connect:Amp there will be 4 wires on each post instead of just 2. Thanks!
I have 2 SONOS BOOSTS, 1 in the Study wired to my router, the other, wireless up high in the kitchen. I have 4 play 5’s Gen 1 and 2 around the house. Looking at my matrix the Kitchen BOOST is doing nothing. Am I interpreting the matrix correctly?
I have recently purchased the CONNECT:AMP and this might sound like a daft question, but I want to know what I can use the Ethernet ports on the back of the CONNECT:AMP for? The obvious answer would be to connect it to the wireless router, but I wondered if you can do more with the Ethernet ports, and why Two ports specifically? I have looked online and also through the little booklet that came with the system to get a better idea of how I can connect it up, but it doesn't really explain fully, I've tried connecting it to my Apple TV, but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks Lee
If wiring two Klipsch awr650 speakers to one connect amp, do I wire the speakers in series? The speakers have both left and right channel built in. I can wire them to act as single channel, but they will be about 60’ apart. Each speaker has 4 conductor cable.
Can you hard wire one sonos (like connect) and use the other port to feed another Sonos Amp and do the same to feed a Yamaha receiver...( all hard wire)
Hi all, here is my situation: 1. I have Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable connected to an Onyx TX-8160 and two wired speakers. 2. The Onyx receiver is output to a Sonos Connect. 3. I have a Playbar in the same room, and other Sonos throughout the house. I was considering swapping the Onyx with a pre-amp and getting 2 Play 5's that would connect line-in to my turntable, and simultaneously serve as rear's for my Playbar to get 5.1 sound when watching TV (assuming an added sub). I would ditch the wired speakers in this case. However - I was informed by Sonos customer service that the Play 5's could not simultaneously serve as line-in for the turntable and rears (which is insane!), so that idea is kind of shot. So now I am debating whether to ditch analog (receiver + wired) altogether - and instead feed the turntable (+ preamp) into my Connect exclusively, then have the 5.1 setup in that room as one of many rooms I could stream to from the turntable, but wouldn't have any analo
So I ordered a pro-ject essential iii and returned it on July 6. It is now July 19 and I do not have my refund. Sonos received my project and said a credit would be issued within 7 days. It’s now 9 days and 3 phones calls and no one knows why I’m not getting my refund this is totally unacceptable! They are holding my $382 hostage. I have a connect, a sub, playbar and two play ones so you could say I’m a good customer. They take your money when you make a purchase, but don’t issue refunds. I don’t think I can ever do business with Sonos again
Connect digital output in fixed volume mode is not bit-perfect as discussed here. There is a simple limiter applied with a maximum gain decrease of just under 1dB. This cannot be defeated in fixed volume mode. However, in variable volume mode the maximum limiter gain becomes less as the volume slider is decreased from maximum. The limiting disappears completely after 13 taps on the slider. This is shown in this link. The associated volume decrease in the signal is shown here. It is interesting to note that as the volume slider is moved back from maximum, the rate of volume decrease becomes larger at the same 13 tap point. I haven't gone beyond 20 taps to see if there are further changes in volume sensitivity. What are the implications? Prior to version 6 of the software, fixed volume mode provided the cleanest audio path (bit-perfect), but this is now not the case. The cleanest audio path is now obtained by using variable output and setting the volume slider to 13 or more tap
I have four Play Ones, two Threes and a connect with a turntable/phono stage linked to it purely to play vinyl on Sonos. One of the Play Ones has an intermittent low beep. It may be one beep or two together and is happening at random times. It happens regardless of whether music is playing. This speaker is part of a stereo pair. The other speaker doesn't make the noise. I have restarted it without success. I do not have any Amazon Alexa products. I say this as the forum only seems to have this sort of query in relation to Sonos Ones with Alexa.
Hello, I just connected my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable and my Pro-Ject Phono Box MM pre-amp to my Sonos Connect (ZP90) and am wondering which line-in level I should use. I read the support article that lists voltages: 2.2V - Level 1 2.0V - Level 2 1.8V - Level 3 1.6V - Level 4 1.4V - Level 5 1.2V - Level 6 1.1V - Level 7 1.0V - Level 8 0.8V - Level 9 0.6V - Level 10 But the problem is that the documented voltage output for my pre-amp doesn't look like the same format as the Sonos documentation. My pre-amps documentation says: "Output voltage typically: 500mV/1kHz at 5mV/1kHz". Can somebody translate that to the listed Sonos voltages for recommended line-in according to their referenced principle of gain staging? Thanks!
Any plans for Headphones from Sonos. that would be awesome. First of all I like to listen in Headphones as well because sometimes my family doesn't want to listen to Music when I want to. Seconsly I have a Playbar, a sub and 2 Play1 connected to my TV but sometimes when my family are asleep I want to listen to TV in Headphones so I don't disturb them, and this is very bothersome now. Come on Sonos. It's time for some serious Product development.
Hi all, Can anyone recommend good quality outdoor speakers(since sonos doesnt do an outdoor speaker) I understand you can use Connect amp,but I seek advice on an outdoor wireless speaker
I unearthed a Sonos Connect in my master closet and was looking for any recommendations that the user community could provide on powered speakers to use with the Connect.
I just bought a Connect Amp to use with Klipsch AW650 outdoor speakers. I setup the connect amp and it says that it is playing music but there is nothing coming out of he speakers that I wired to the amp. I’ve tried undoing the wires and replugging them in but still nothing. The speakers seem to make noise as I am plugging them in but no music will come out once I have them all set. The speakers are only about 30 ft from the amp and I am using 14 gauge wire. Not sure if I need to use 16 instead or if that might be the issue?
I have a Sonos connect and I need to boost the network I bought a Sonos boost and for some reason it’s not connecting and I cannot increase the Internet Connection. Someone please help???
Thank you in advance. I am beginner at best for going into deep technical aspects of a set up, so please more step-step instructions are better. My current system is a Netgear Docsis 3.1 CM1000, and an ORBI 3000 (1 bottom level, 1 satellite on second floor). All systems have been rebooted and all software/firmware is up to date. I recently purchased 2 play:1s to become familiar prior to my Sonos beam/sub and TV being installed next week. As I've seen others on this forum run into issues with ORBI, as soon as I begin to use ANY other device on my network, everything shuts down. I do not know how to run diagnostics or assign independent IP adresses or anything like that so I;ll need some help! Please help, thanks!
