Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

I have an already existing turntable set up of a Fluance RT 82 (which doesn’t have a built in phono preamp) > Phono In of a Sony STR-DH190 amp > speaker wire to passive speakers. The family room is next to my set up is going to have ceiling speakers installed with a Sonos amp (primarily used for TV sound).I’d like to be able to sometimes listen to my wired set up as described through my wired speakers and other times, play my turntable through my sonos amp in the family room.l’ve read there are a few options (using a port, a Connect G2, or a Bluetooth transmitter + Roam), but I’m not sure how all the connections work and in what order and how to change the output to toggle between the hardwired output and the Sonos. I do see on my amp, input 4 has both IN and OUT, but I don’t see how to switch between the speaker terminal out and the input 4 out.And if all of this is possible, any guidance of pros/cons between the port/connect G2/BT+Roam options would be appreciated. Thanks!
I have a home theater with the arc, 2 ones, and a sub. I had the setup for a few months and haven't heard sound coming from the sub. The sub is connected, the white light is on on the sub, and I've set the sub level to +15. What am I missing here? Is there a way to test the sub to produce a sound?
Can anyone recommend a method to "add" records played on the Carbon Stream to my Sonos music library? Thanks,Mike
Hello! I have a Sonos Port connected to a Denon AVR. Every time I switch the output to variable volume it jumps back to fixed, can you please help me?
I have bought the Connect:Amp a few years back and, after a short lived connection success, I have not been able to connect anymore despite numerous factory resets of the Connect:Amp, and re-installs of the IOS App.Any clue? Can the Connect:Amp be connected only via mobile phone? Is there any alternative, independent controller that can be shared by the family?Thank you.
I have a preamp. Put in a Sonos Amp connected to two Sonos 5s for surrounds. I have a RCA out for a 2nd sub and want to connect the Sonos Sub to it. I had hoped the Amps sub connect was an in, it is not. Anyone have any ideas on how to connect a sub out to an Amp or Port to get it to the Sub
Just wanted to share a solution. Had problems regarding the sync between my Sonos Connect, connected with a Beoplay A9, and my other Sonos (arc, Sonas SL). The sound on the A9 came out 1-2 sec later then from the rest. The solution: Open the Bang & Olufsen app Tap the "Settings" icon in the upper-right corner Tap: Settings Tap "Products" Tap your Beoplay A9 4th Gen Tap "Configure" Tap "Sound" Select Line-in and tick "Disable Delay" Note: If the delay is disabled, you cannot distribute sound from the Line-in input in a Beolink Multiroom setup.Everything went in perfect sync after that.
Does anyone know if there is a Bluetooth CD player that would be compatible with the Sonos beam? Thank you for any information you can give.
Hi AllI have a weird issue that has just started, I have three Sonos items, Sonos SL in my office and bedroom, then a sonos port connected to a multiroom system. The three are setup on the app as separate rooms, i could play music through Sonos Radio or Spotify to any individual room, now the issue i have is if i slect the port on its own i get a cannot connect or cannot add to queue error dependant on if it is radio or spotify. If i select either of the other two SL speakers they work fine, I can then add port as an additional source and it also plays….I power cycled the three speakers, Sonos would not then play on anything, I reset my router, uninstalled the apps on my phone, reinstalled the apps still the same.Factory reset the SL speakers and I am now back to the speakers working fine but the port still not working standalone, the port will also not factory reset….i get a flashing amber/ white but not green, it returns to white, I have also disabled the wifi and hardwired the port an
I moved into a house that had 5 ZP120s wired to different ceiling speakers throughout the house. I talked to a pro installer and he said I had to replace all of them to get the speakers to work. I would really like to avoid that, at least for now. Should I be able to use those existing amps? Do I need to reset them and use the S1 app? Are there any guides for making use of inherited/second hand Sonos equipment? I’ve seen some confusing information about whether those devices are still viable or not. Thanks!
Bought a Port to connnect my old music system to my Sonos speakers that I uses to stream music (2x Play 1s, 2x Play 5s and 2x Moves). I cant figure out what connnections to make between the Porrt and the back of the HK. I have now spent about 1.5 hours reading numerrous things on-line and within this community, but can’t fuigure it out. I want to at least play vinyl from my old turntable, old CD player, and old casssette deck, all of which have RCA plug-in jacks on the back of the HK (There are actully 2 sets of Tape Mon jackson on the back). The back of the HK also has Aux jacks, Main In jacks, Pre Out jacks, and Sub Out jacks. I do not plan to wire any apeakers to the HK, Just want it to stream music from the foregoing devices to my Sonos speakers. Thanks
Hi!Would it be possible to play a musical instrument (for example guitar) through any of the Sonos products with line-in input, and not having latency issues? I’m looking at Five speaker, line-in sounds tempting, but how many ms latency does it have? I believe 12ms is a rule of thumb acceptable for live performance. It’s for practice purpose. Era 300 will probably have usb-c line in, so that would probably be even more latency, right?
Hello allExcuse me if I don’t have all the terms correct, but I’m not very techie! I’ve searched this forum, but can’t find an answer that helps meI have a small system (2x Play 1 and a Play 5 (1st Gen)) and use S1 controller all connected to wifi. Recently the Play 5 has been dropping out so I just bought a second hand bridge for £2 to see if I could use this to boost the signal for the Play 5.I’ve connected the bridge OK but I don’t know how/if I need to ‘move’ the Play 5 off wifi and onto the SonosNet to get the possible benefit. I presume that the 2 x Play 1’s will just stay on the wifi as they are not compatible with the bridge? I’m assuming its possible to have all these products within one controller even if they are not on the ‘same’ wifi?I can’t even find any instructions for the bridge online - does it stay hardwired and sat near the router? Thanks in advance for any guidanceBrucie
A friend has asked for my help updating their sound system. They have built in speakers for a home theater in two rooms. Sonos “was” out of the question as a Sonos Amp only powers one pair, so many would have been required. The new AV receivers that advertise “works with sonos” would be a good solution.Question: Are there any receivers/amps that do not require a Sonos Patch? In working up various systems, the Patch dramatically adds to the cost. I.E. are there any that have the “complete works” built in?
I bought an ARC at Xmas to finally get decent sound from the TV. (Previously I’d used a cheap DAC to input from the TV to my HiFi system.)I’m toying with the idea of adding a SONOS Port to the HiFi so that the kids can link their iPhones/Pads apps to the HiFi as Spotify is great for background music and this will enable access to internet radio.Would such a system also allow me to play the TV/ARC through the HiFi simultaneously and therefore enable me to augment the bass? If yes, are there any snags/issues that I’d need to consider. Having a good quality vinyl and CD based HiFi ,coupled with a digital media system, sounds like Nirvana, Nevermind the pan-generational benefits within the family (pun intended!) Can it be achieved or am I being Dagenham (3 stops beyond Barking?)
I have a Connect and Connect Amp. Both are connected to different mesh routers in different rooms (using Ethernet). Everything was working fine, until I installed a new mesh router a couple of days ago as the old mesh router was starting to give me problems. Now the app (Sonos S1) is able to find the Connect Amp. But is not able to find the Connect. I’ve tried to use “find missing product”, “add a new product to existing system” in setting, reset the Connect to factory setting, moved the Connect to the same room/router as the Connect Amp with no success. Any suggestion and help would be appreciated. Thanks!Sanjiv
Hello, I have a small issue. We have 3 amps on our system that should control 3 different areas with their own speakers. When we first set up the system the ‘Gym’ amp and speakers were on the app. However after we had some internet issues the ‘Gym’ amp/speakers now just copy whatever is being played on the ‘Reception’ amp/speakers. But as I said, the ‘Gym’ used to be it’s own individual area. It’s as if the ‘Reception’ amp now controls the speakers in the reception and the gym. But the gym should be controllable through it’s own amp. They are not ‘tied’ together (when you get 2 or more amps to play the same), it’s just the the gym has completely gone from the app, but as I said is till playing music!Any suggestions would be very appreciated!Cheers A
https://victrola.com/ Didn’t know if anyone was aware of this but thought I would throw it out there. Not a vinyl guy myself but looks interesting.
So I recently upgraded my old connect to a Sonos Port. The port is connected to my receive and passive 5 speaker system for home theater. I however play music through it plus zone 2 are outdoor speakers. I’ve been toying with the idea of a turntable and would prefer to connect it to the existing port. At least until I get a new 5 (gen 1 currently) but I’m not doin that until I see the Optimo. I assume no issues with this but I could just plug the Line in to the port but still use it with the speakers? Not clear if it can run line in turntable (amp obviously included with turntable) and still power the receiver aspect?
I recently upgraded my S1 Sonos system to S2 (removing two original Play:5 speakers, and adding a half dozen Ikea Symfonisk bookshelf speakers). Everything was, and still is, connected to SonosNet through a Boost wired to my router that I’ve had for some time. Everything works fine after upgrading the app and adding the new speakers, and all is still on SonosNet. To help ensure extended range and prevent dropouts, I purchased a second Boost last week to add wirelessly halfway through the house. However, I cannot get it set up. I plug it in, choose Settings: System: Add Product in the S2 app for Android, make sure Bluetooth is on on my phone, and then wait for the Boost light to turn from white to flashing green (set up) before I press the Bluetooth button on the Boost to make it change to flashing orange (connecting). The S2 app on my phone never recognizes it as it scans for products to add. I’ve tried this multiple times. The original wired boost continues to work (Sonos System Info
I am looking to buy a SONOS Amp and have a couple of questions before taking the plunge…Firstly, I have a record player and CD player. Is there any way to connect both to the SONOS Amp as there is only one line-in connection? Can I get a spliter of some kind.andCan I use wireless headphone with the SONOS Amp?Thank youDMB
Hi There is a feature in Sonos AMP that disable RCA input when no input signal. It lead to an issue using microphone From a mix table as input. Its possible to use RCA input without Autodisabling option ?
Received my Sub Mini yesterday. Installing it was a piece of cake. I connected it to my Playbar. Performed Trueplay. Heard no difference in TV sound, whether speak or music. Toggled Trueplay on and off. Heard a difference in sound of the Playbar, nothing from the Sub Mini. Toggled loudness on and off. Heard a difference in sound of the Playbar, nothing from the Sub Mini. Toggled Sub Mini on and off. No difference. Tried various combinations of these parameters. No difference. Tried all of this at 2 different locations; one underneath the Playbar and one abt. 3 meters away. No difference. Throughout testing bass and treble levels at zero. Then connected it to my 2 grouped Play:1's. Performed Trueplay. Once again: no difference in sound. Performed Trueplay. No difference. Toggled Trueplay on and off. Heard a difference in sound of the Play:1's, nothing from the Sub Mini. Toggled loudness on and off. Heard a difference in sound of the Play:1's, nothing from the Sub Mini. Toggled Sub Mini o
Are them compatible?
Hii know there have been some posts and discussions about connecting B&O speakers to TV via Sonos Port. I am looking for a simpler just strictly connecting Port to B&O Beolab 6000 speakers. And I can stream music from my phone to play on Port and my existing Arc. what cables do I need and what’s the easiest/simplest setup? TIA!
