Advanced setups

Hello! I'm looking for some advice on some Bose 191 ceiling speakers that I inherited after moving into a new house. I believe these speakers are all 8ohms. Here is my dilemma that I've tried to search through this community but I can't find the right answer with my setup. I have 3 ceiling speakers downstairs (2 in living room and 1 in dining room but all three are fairly close to each other in the same level). I also have 3 ceiling speakers upstairs (2 in the master bedroom and 1 in the master bathroom...again pretty close to I don't need these two areas separated). My first thought (and was my preferred choice) was to create 2 zones with 2 Connect Amps....one zone downstairs with 3 Bose speakers and one zone upstairs with the other 3 speakers. Reading online, it looks like that sound wouldn't be great with this setup but I could be wrong. After reading that 3 speakers may not work well, is my other option to create 4 zones with 4 Connect Amps (could be pricey here). That w

I have a rather complex network and over 20 sonos devices. I had everything working just fine for a while but about a week ago i replaced a PtMP radio in my network setup and have since lost two of my Connect amps. they show up on my client list on my router and i can ping them without any problems. (They are hard wired to a switch that is uplinked to a PtP bridge). However they weren't showing up in my sonos app. Ive tried resetting them and re-adding them to my setup but every time i try i get an error saying the connection failed. Any ideas?

Hi, i have a samsung ks9000 and i have 2 options on the hdmi audi format which is pcm and bitsream and they both play in 5.1. Can someone please tell me which is the recommemed setting for the playbar and my 5.1 set up as i cant tell the difference. The audio format is set to dolby digital. Thanks

Hello, I would like to connect my Smart TV Samsung (UE49KS7090) to a pair of Bang & Olufsen Beolab 12-3 to use the speakers to listen to the TV. Would the Sonos Connect help to manage this connection? In addition, I would like to have the possibility to listen to music from my phone. Would I need an Airport Express in this case? And, can it be connected to the same Sonos Connect? Or, is the Sonos Connect already giving me the possibility to listen to music from my phone with the Beolab speakers? Thank you very much.

Hoping someone can help with this as it has become very frustrating. My sonos, for whatever reason, wants to connect to my guest network (which has a password prompt at a login page). I'd prefer it to use my non-guest network (2.5 GHz b/g) so I can just provide the password directly in the setup. Whenever I go to advanced settings --> wireless setup it shows that "Sonos will be set up on: mynetwork-guest". I click "Use another network". In the net screen I am allowed to select a new network, so I select "mynetwork" (which appears in the list, and is the network I WANT to use). When I select it and hit "Use this Network" the next screen still says "Sonos will be set up on mynetwork-guest". It seems to not recognize at all that i'm changing the network. It does this no matter what network I choose. Why is this important? Because since I can't provide sonos with the network password (given it forces you to a login page), Sonos never actually connects to the wifi network. A

I recently purchased a PLAY:5. I live in Fort Campbell, and the only internet available to me is through proxy networks (like Boingo) hardwired in the barracks. Is there any way for me to use my PLAY:5? If not, what would I need in order to utilize it?

We often have trouble with wifi connectivity in our kitchen, and we purchased a range extender (amped AC1200) to improve performance. So far, it seems to help quite a bit when surfing the web in the kitchen. We have also experienced occasional problems with playing through the sonos system in the kitchen, and nearly always when trying to listen to sonos on the back porch, just outside the kitchen. Can we also use this device to communicate between the sonos bridge and a speaker? (I am assuming this is not possible, because the device creates a second network, which the sonos speaker would not recognize.) If not, is there another solution for improving connectivity between the bridge and a speaker? Thank you. EDIT: Having read a related thread that came up after posting this, I see that the appropriate sonos product for this problem is a BOOST. I would still like to use the amped range extender with our sonos system if this is possible. Thank you for any advice you can provide.

Making some networking changes in the house, and looking for opinions. At the moment I have one consumer router/AP/switch, and I have Sonos players on Sonos net. Some of the players are wired and some get their wireless from a Sonos Boost. Of course the Sonos net and the wifi are on different channels. The wifi coverage in the house is terrible, half the house is very weak. The Sonos is working fine. I’m planning on getting Ubiquity router, switches, and a couple of access points. The question is should I keep the Sonos on Sonos net, and use two wifi access points? Or should I run the Sonos on wifi, ditch the Bridge, and use two or three AP? Fwiw, my main player is a Play-5 II, three feet from the Bridge. I have a Connect on wired Ethernet, which is usually turned off. I have a Play-5 downstairs that I use from time to time. To get good Sonos wireless to the downstairs I turn on the Connect so it can relay the signal. Opinions?

Is it possible to setup two different Sonos networks within the same house? The reason for this is so my son can only see and control his Play 1 and not my Play5?

I am looking for the best way to connect my B&O Beolab 6000 active speakers and a sub to the Sonos system. My current situation is the Beolab´s connected with rca cables to the Sonos connect, since the connect AMP dont have the audio outputs. The problem is how I can connect a subwoofer in this system. The connect only have the coax output, but the connect AMP has the subwoofer output. Is there a way I can connect the sub in the coax output with a sort of converter? Maybe i can connect the subwoofer into the same rca output as the speakers with a sort of rca splitter?

i am planning to buy Sonos play 5, only issue is i don't have broadband at home, i normally tether using my phone if i need internet, can anyone suggest best way to utilise sonos play 5 100% without forking out 30-40£ a month for internet service which i will hardly use.

I have a Sonos Connect which I'm trying to connect to my Samsung tv UN55ES8000 to use the TV's speakers to play music from the Sonos Connect. I've found a lot of documentation on how to connect the TV to use Sonos speakers to play sound from the TV but nothing on how to use the built in TV speakers to play music from the Sonos Connect. What I've tried 1. using the RCA to RCA on the TV 2. using an RCA to 3.5mm Stereo Male connected to the DVI audio IN port Expecting I was expecting to be able to choose Component or the DVI as an input source and hear the audio I'm playing on the Sonos connect.

The new "endorsed" Control4 drivers are complete garbage. From the face of it, they have lost a TON of functionality from the original "hacked" drivers. Apparently the people who hacked the old API knew more than SONOS engineers about their own stuff... We had full ability to use all inputs across the system, we had the ability (through some creative logic) use multiple Connect:'s into a matrix to allow more than one stream at a time... We had the ability to add a Pandora station, for instance. Now, the new driver. I can't see anything but the "top 50". Sonos limits it's "Sonos Favorites" list to 50 entries across all services combined! It seems like there are more than 50 services available. So 1 from each? Not only that but I can't even use logic "if sonos1 is playing then..." because there are no conditionals. I can't have more than one into a matrix anyways because the system is incapable of starting more than 1 stream reliably with shared paths. IE 2 Connect:'s into

I just bought an LG TV and am trying to link it up to my PLAYBAR. There seem to be good tutorials on exactly this on this forum, however they are not helping as I can't seem to find 'Room Settings' in my iOS or Mac Sonos apps. Example instructions from Sonos: "Sonos app for Mac: Select Sonos > Preferences. Click Room Settings and choose the room the PLAYBAR or PLAYBASE is located in from the drop-down. Click the TV Setup tab. Click Remote Control Setup. Follow the in-app instructions to configure your new remote to control the PLAYBAR or PLAYBASE." See attached screenshot for what I see under Preferences, only date and time settings. Similar issues with iOS app, I can only go as far as 'Settings' but there are no 'Room Settings' there. Thanks

I got my PS4 and PC coonected to my LG TV via HDMI and the TV connected to the Playbar + two Play1s. I got 5.1 passthrough to work on my TV with my PS4 (the Sonos app verifies the 5.1 signal), but I'm struggling with my PC. As far as I can see the problem is with Windows not with Sonos or my TV. The PC detects the TV with Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) as stereo which it is, but it can't "see" the Sonos system so no other options are available than stereo in Windows sound settings. This is a common problem, nothing new here. When connecting a surround receiver between the PC and TV the soundcard detects multiple channels from the receiver, so there're suddenly multiple options in Windows sound settings (stereo, 5.1, 7.2 etc.). As far as I know you can't force an 5.1 output via HDMI. Is it possible to use speakers attached to Sonos Connect Wireless for front surround speakers with a Sonos Sound bar?

So I just bought a house and it has a couple of in-ceiling and outdoor speakers. The prior owner has some older (from 2003) Niles volume control knobs installed, and left a Niles MVC-HUB4 unit. The unit looks like this: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/299674/Niles-Mvchub4.html#manual I think I can figure out how to hook the Niles unit back up, since there are groups of 4 wires and groups of 2 wires.... but how can I connect this to a Connect:AMP? The Niles unit has a 4-wire block that says "Input from amp", but I'm not sure how to wire that to the Sonos. Thanks in advance!

I have the whole Sonos home theater at home and love it! I'm thinking about buying some additional speakers for the cabin where there in NO internet.... like none. Questions: Will a play 1 or 3 work without internet? If I set up on my home network and take it off site to another location can I manually plug my phone into it and use it as a Bluetooth speaker?
