Advanced setups

Excuse my naivete, but still learning the Sonos system. Confused on licensing with media services. We have several groups of rooms. Does each group require a separate license? For instance, in Soundtrack Player (business version of Spotify) you license each zone. Does a zone correspond to a room in Sonos?

I have 2 Sonos Play 1 , 1 Play 3 and 1 Connect devices at home.These 4 are all connected with ethernet cables to my main router (Asus AX88U)I also have Asus Aimesh connected to this router but I believe this is not related to my question. Today I realized a performance issue on my router and digged a bit.Since I could not stop the problem by rebooting router and mesh devices I disconnected ethernet devices one by one.Eventually the problem was solved when I disconnected one gigabit switch.This switch has 4 wired clients on it, one of which is a Sonos Play 1. After disconnecting the switch from my main router, the performance issue was solved.But even with its uplink disconnected, I was still able to reach the devices on the switch.I could play music on the Sonos device (which is normal because when it lost wired connection, it probably swithced to Sonosnet)But I was also able to reach the other devic

I was advised by Sonos, that my new ARC does not support a blue tooth connection to my Apple pro ear buds. However my new LG OLED does support them, while my Sonos ARC will not.  What solutions are available (other than returning the ARC), to me? Thank you.  

I have a new NAS on my network and it uses Samba 4.I get the highly informative ( ) error code of ‘900’ when trying to add it.I see threads and questions going back 4 years in this community asking for better Samba support from Sonos. The stock repsonses are simple promises to pass on the question to development teams.I don’t know how difficult it would be to add support for more modern Samba implementations but I do see there is a demand for it.What is wrong at Sonos that you ignore your users so readily and don’t even provide an explanation as to why you refuse to implement this apparently simple request?Your stock response seems to be to let the thread go until people stop reading it and then close it with a weak excuse.What sort of company are you?That said, I expect someone to respond with a weak answer

I want to use a new Sonos amp to power two in-ceiling speakers.The speakers are now fed through a LeGrand system. And the LeGrand panel has the speakers connecting to the LeGrand source through an Ethernet cable.The Sonos uses hookups for speaker wires.How do I convert or modify the existing Ethernet ends into speaker wires?

I have a client with fairly large system spread out over 2 structures. There is a mixture of wired/wireless Sonos devices throughout both structures, all on the same network. I have a managed network and it all works perfectly. He is now adding a pavilion 400-500ft away and wants Sonos available there. I am beaming WiFi to the pavilion from the nearest structure. My question is, will a Sonos Five or Sonos Move connect to the network via WiFi and function properly within the app? It will not be able to communicate via Sonos Mesh with the other players/speakers as it will be too far away, and there will be no wired option available. I tried this in the past at a very large home and couldn’t get it to work and ending up wiring it there.thanks for reading

HiI see lots of older posts  and threads about Sonos and Mesh setup. Have they now all been resolved ? I want to buy a Linksys Velop 4 node system, and will use that as my only WiFi - (Replacing my 1 AP now, I don’t use the Router built in WiFi)  but I want to know if it will work out of the box? I don’t wnat to have to go messing with settings to get specific channels setup, or not to use the bridge were the WiFi system decides what band/channel to use. So I just want plug and play really. Has anyone any experence of what works for them? I have a TP-Link in AP mode today, but have had to turn off the Bridge as Sonos dissapears, and I don’t want to invest in Linksys unless I know it works?Or would I be Better off buying some AP’s and setting up a controler, and selecting the same 2.4Ghz channel (1,6,11 or whatever) on all teh AP’s and a seperate 5Ghz for my faster stuff?  What have others done here? Hello. I am trying to find a way to connect Sonos beam with 2 different output devices (one TV and one projector). They won’t be playing at the same time, just want to switch between on or other.My main issue with this setup is that the main source of input in both of these is a PC and I have only 1 HDMI cable running to the projector (it is ceiling mounted and the cable is inside the walls. I know I can use an HDMI splitter to give signal to both TV and projector, but can’t find out how to get the Beam to run with this.

Dear All I’m new to this sound engineering or speaker specifications.  But im enjoying this Sonos products Connect: Amp with pair of B&W M1 passive speakers and a Yamaha active subwoofer connected. I also have a Play1 device. I have been thinking of adding another pair of passive speakers to the Connect Amp.  I have read in forums and document that a 8Ohm speaker will be supporting for this setup.  But i wanted to know what difference will it make if I add another pair in the rear of my living room. Will I get a surround experience or just the replica of the FL&FR speakers.   Please help me understand and provide your suggestions.  I’m expecting a surround speaker environment.  Is it achievable.  ? Thank you.Ashok Chennai.

My setup for daily use is Arc with LG C9 which works great. I would occasionally like to use my BenQ W2000 projector for movies and gaming. Movies would use Apple TV 4K as source and gaming would happen with PC or consoles such as Nintendo Switch or PS5. With these I would like the audio to go to Arc and video to the projector. Ideally I could keep these source systems permanently connected to LG C9 as well via splitter or switch so that I wouldn’t need unplug and plug devices when using the projector. Is there a switch or a splitter that would keep the audio quality as good as the original source (e.g. Atmos)? From video point of view the W2000 is capable only for 1920x1080 but in case I would upgrade that at some point it would be nice if the video would also be of original quality.Any advice would be appreciated!

Alright, here’s a new one: I recently moved and am getting set up in a new house, with a new network name, but all the same Sonos gear. Ideally I’d love for everything to reconnect EXACTLY AS IT WAS… including Sonos playlists! Obviously my Sonos account is still active, and I still have all of the speakers (and the Boost and Sub) - I just want to know if there’s anything special I need to do in reconnecting to preserve everything that I already had! Bonus points if anyone can confirm the Samsung remote control IR blaster will still work with the Playbar, haha Thanks!

I’ve had a Sonos Playbase connected to my Samsung TV via a digital optical cable for a few years now but the flap on the optical port on the back of the TV has broken off and won’t hold the cable in anymore.  For a while I have been able to keep it working by just taping the cable in place (crude but it worked!) but it is incredibly sensitive and the slightest knock to the cable breaks the connection.  That was annoying but I was managing with it, but it’s now so sensitive I can barely get it to connect at all.  Replacing the port in the TV would be about £250 and given this door flap seems to be a common weakness, I’m not keen to spend that much money.After a lot of searching online, I’ve bought a HDMI audio converter which in theory allows me to connect the optical cable from the Sonos to the converter and then connects from the converter to the HDMI ARC port on my TV.  The TV recognises that it is connected and gives me an additional speaker option to select from the sound

Dear Sonos Team,I have a projector, which leads to a suboptimal speaker setup for the room.  The projector and beam are behind the couch, while the surround speakers (two 3s) are in front of us.  Is it possible to flip the output, such that the main audio comes from the surround speaker (in front of me) and the surround sound comes from the beam.  I don’t want to have wires running up and down and across my minimalistic living room, with a beam floating alone on an empty wall where the projection is. Thanks for your support!

I am remodeling my den and changing out my in-ceiling speakers to Sonos Architectural. My bedroom sits above and I am doing some soundproofing. Part of that entails putting the speakers in enclosures. I am trying to decide if the Sonance Acoustic Enclosure will fit the Sonos Architectural ceiling speakers. Hello,I have a sonos arc and two play 5s in the same room. I have the play fives paired with the arc as surround sound for watching movies. I would like to be able to switch modes from “theater” to “music”. In theater mode the arc would be the main channel speaker with the play fives as surround. In music mode, the play 5s would unpair with the arc and the play 5s would be right/left channel. I’m also thinking of adding a subwoofer and I would like it to switch modes. Is this possible?

I have two Play:5 gen1 speaker. If I get a Sonos One SL, can I group the Five gen1’s to the One SL and use Airplay through the One SL? If yes, is it possible to configure the two Five gen1’s as a stereo pair, and leave the One SL as a single speaker?

Does anyone have experience adding speakers to a product and have it controlled by the Sonos system? 

I have Sonos Amp (Gen 2, old shape) that I want to use to power 2x Bose FreeSpace 360P speakers. I already have a similar setup powering Bose FreeSpace 51, but I cannot get any more of those speakers where I am. Opening the box for the Bose FreeSpace 360P I was surprised by all sorts of wires in there. Can someone help with which wires to connect to what?  

I have a quite old HD tv (Pioneer) that I love and still has lots of legs.  On Installation of the amp, we tried hooking up the tv to the in wall speakers from SONOS and the AMP as well.  What occurred was about a 2 second latency on the relationship between the visual words spoken and the sound occurring which was quite distracting.  The tech moved it to PDM on the settings which had only marginal if any effect. Is there any way to obtain added hardware to narrow/eliminate this issue?   The aesthetic of where the speakers had to be placed really necessitates removing the existing tv speakers (either side of the tv which is wall mounted also) to achieve a more pleasing wall.  

I’ve had my Sonos set up for about a week now. I’ve watched numerous videos showing how to connect the speakers to my WiFi and how to use the app. Recently, I had Definitive Technology surround sound speakers with the Onkyo recover and app. Debated for awhile and made the move to Sonos. What a difference! However, those of you who had issues connecting (bridge mode, powering down speakers and getting frustrated, checking router, app not connecting), yes I’ve been there with these issues all week until now.  I currently have our cable router and we bought the AMPLIFI mesh WiFi unit. When our house was built, they installed all of the wiring in our downstairs closet. I never knew why they did that but I hated it. Although, I’m no expert at all of this so we kept it there. When I installed the Sonos, It would drop my connection from the app all the time. My wife knew I was going to go crazy after disconnecting my old unit with issues and now I can’t get t

Recently built a house with in ceiling speakers that came with the Sonos Amp and I was so excited to pair them with my Arc, Sub, and 2 one SL surrounds however the arc can only support one pair of surrounds. Never did I even think this would become a limitation from Sonos. Anyone know if there are or could be future plans to allow multiple surrounds like the update that made two subs possible?  Sonos please!

For 2+ years I had no issues using Sonos speakers and AirPods off the same devices. All great. I typically play to Sonos using AirPlay rather than the Sonos app.In the last ~1 month, I am getting really annoying behavior where I can’t successfully switch from AirPods to Sonos - I get the spinning wheel of death on the speaker glyph in OSx/iOS. The variation is that it’ll connect, but when I close the AirPods case, it’ll drop the Sonos connection and I can’t re-establish it. When I check the Sonos app, it thinks the speaker is playing the stream but it is actually coming out of my laptop/phone speaker.  The fix is to reboot the speaker. Any ideas?

Hi There,I've been having certain issues with my Sonos system for a while. Random disconnects, speakers not displaying in the app, unable to play songs/add songs to a queue from my phone whilst i'm moving around the house. My existing set up is a Virgin Media Super Hub 3, in router mode and WiFi disabled, connected to the main BT Mesh Node. There are 2 other secondary BT mesh nodes in other rooms in the house. My sonos speakers (Playbar + Play 1 surrounds, Play 3, and Play 5 Gen 1) all connect wirelessly.As such, i'm thinking about transitioning over to SonosNet to see if it can help sort the issues i face.Unfortunately, the router/primary mesh node is located in a place where it makes no sense to have a speaker. As such, i'm wondering whether anyone has successfully tried connecting a Sonos speaker to a secondary wifi node via ethernet, and whether that successfully creates the SonosNet Mesh and allows for a useable system.
