What to get

Dear Sonos, At this moment i own a pair of Sonos One speakers which i really love and use almost daily. I want to upgrade to a 5.1 surround set. But im really afraid Sonos will release a new Subwoofer and maybe also surround speakers. Ofcourse i understand why Sonos won't publicly anounce it now but spending +/- €1600 euros now (Full set as i will keep the Ones extra) and see new products this year wont be cool.. Hence my question is, is it "safe" to spend alot of money now, while the sub is getting kinda old.. Also i think the current sub is overkill and too expensive for its function in my house. Hello, I am considering replacing my old classic amplifier+CD+bluetoothReceiver with a Sonos Amp. Since it will be connected to my turntable, it shoul be great. However, apparently I won't be able to listen to my LPs using my headphones, am I right?

I have been away from the forum for a while, but am still looking forward to getting a SONOS. :) I have a question about the digital output and the SONOS volume control. HOw do they interact? I plan for an outboard DAC, and I would like to connect it straight to an amplifer without any kind of preamp if I can get away with it.....is this recommended? Or does the volume control effect the digital signal adversely?

Hi I would like to buy an avr hi-fi 5.1 for my livingroom, where I would connect apple tv, nvidia shield, console and pc, but at the same time, I would like to have the various speakers at home powered by my sonos amp, playing audio from apple tv, nvidia shield or pc. How should i connect all my sonos amp to avr? whereas all the HDMI port will be used by the various devices. Or do you recommend creating a 5.1 system with sonos? at the same time how would I connect the various devices to sonos beam? Thx so much at everyone for help

I was thinking of upgrading my old surround system. I would like some nice quality and also a very minimal and "clean" setup. I was thinking about buying the new sonos amp, then a pair of the kef q350 as the front speakers and a pair of sonos ones as rear speakers. Then later on possibly a sub, was thinking of the REL T7i. But in a year or so. Would this setup be worth it or what do you audiophiles think?

I purchased a Sonos Play 5 (gen 1) some days ago that I am going to set up in my parents home. they do not need much so this is why I went for the gen 1, since its much cheaper. I also have a Sonos connect (ZP100) that im going to connect to their receiver and use the speakers that already is plugged into it.This setup is going to be on 2 different floors. The wireless wifi is ok. but the question is this, do I need a Sonos bridge and what difference would it do with/without?Thanks allot for answers to my little problem :D:D Moderator Edit: We no longer recommend the use of a Bridge under any circumstances - a modern router’s WiFi will serve you better. 

I have a feeling I already know the answer but looking for reason to change my mind. I have a pair of PSB Image B5 bookshelf speakers (orig $400 pair) that are doing nothing. I am thinking about getting the amp to drive them. The alternative would be a single Play:5 (for the same money). I really love the sound of the PSB's with the exception of weak bass, which I expect the Play:5 to have more of. But I've never really heard a Play:5 in a "proper" environment to really hear what they sound like. If I'm trading a bit more bass for less clarity and detail I won't do it. I'm leaning towards the amp.

I currently have a Sonos Beam set up of course as the sound bar for my TV. I also have an Audio Technica turntable with a built in pre-amp. Basically, I have two questions: 1.) Would a Sonos Connect or ZP90 (I've seen some used for cheaper) allow me to play my turntable on the Beam? I've read somewhere that the Beam isn't compatible with the Connect or ZP90 so I wanted to see if that was accurate information. I can't afford a Play5 so I'm trying to see if this option would work? 2.) I also hope within the year to purchase a couple of Sonos One speakers to link with the Beam for surround sound. Will I have any issues with the Connect or Zp90 working the turntable (and surround sound) once I expand? Is there anything else I should be aware of? I'm new to Sonos and new to comprehensive audio equipment in general, so I appreciate the help.

Gentlemen please help. PI bought 2 Play:1’s some weeks ago only to discover that these are not the same speakers as the Ones 😢 I love their sound but still I feel err fooled. Only solution is just sell 1 play:1 and replace it with a One? I can then stream to both my Play:1 and One as a stereo pair? Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t want to fall into a wrong buy again 😉 Also,does the play;1 (used as channel L stereo) sound exactly the same as the One gen2 (channel R stereo). If not it would be impossible to use the play1 and One gen2 as a stereo pair. Thanks 🙂

Already have Play:3 within the space in question, just curious if Play:5 would be justifiable. In short, TSF is about 450 for the room, which is more a rectangle than a square. Dilemma (if you want to call it that) is I'd like to own the flagship Play:5 if for no other reason than to have the best technology available from Sonos, but not sure the room will be sufficient enough space for it. It's a lower level Michigan basement, where a Play:3 is presently on its own "room" assignment as a stand alone option. Currently, the sound is quite awesome but it does take the 3 being a little bit on the louder side to fill the space acoustically. I know a 5 would do that at low volume, but feel it's unlikely the 5 would ever be used in this space at anything beyond 1/3 its maximum output. As such, does it even make sense to entertain the 5? Does the lowest 1/3 of its capacity produce a different enough image than the 3 at moderate to mid-range? Would it make more sense to leave well enough alone

I've ordered a Bluetooth turntable which I was going to connect to an Echo connected to the line-in on my Play 5 which is in another room. Is this also possible as an alternative to Bluetooth? If I'm housing the turntable near my TV which has a Beam connected to it, as the turntable also has a built-in pre amp, could I connect to my TV with an RCA cable and would that then pass the sound back out to my beam via the hdmi arc? I suspect the latter option is not possible but if not, are there any options for a wired connection through my TV? Cheers

Can I set my Play1 to alao be my windows PC speaker?

I have spend about 24 hours searching online for a TV compatible to support my playbar with dolby digital 5.1 Losing my mind!! Support sent me outdated list of TV then a list of vendors. I want to online purchase. I like to get 65" or larger smart TV to use the dolby digital 5.1 surround sound. Help

Currently have the beam and 1 play 5 gen 2 . Toying with idea to sell the play 5 and get the sub. Would love views of the experts on here.

Hi Guys, I currently have the old sonos amp zp120 I think it is in my office. I've then got my pc speakers connected to the pc. I originally bought the zp120 many years ago to plug the pc into however there was too much of a delay. I'm wondering with the new sonos amp being able to be used for TV whether it is now suitable for the pc thus getting rid of having two sets of speakers in one room! Any ideas? Thanks

Will adding a sonos boost help me ? I have beam + x2 play 1's in living room, x1 play 1 in hallway, x1 play one in dining room, x1 sonos 1 in the bedroom upstairs. Beam is connected via ethernet cable to a powerline adaptor in the living room (so effectively hardwired to my router if I understand that correctly). All my speakers are showing status WM 0. My broadband connection into my house is fairly poor, (getting around 2.5 - 4 Mbps) plus my house has quite a lot of thick stone walls which impairs wifi range (hence the powerline adaptor). My sonos speakers are placed such that they should all be in range of at least one other speaker in the network however. I get quite a lot of dropout of music and often difficulty grouping speakers together. Does it matter which order the speakers were added to the network ? Would adding a sonos boost enhance reliability or does having the beam wired in effectively achieve the same thing ?

What would be better? A Beam or a pair of Sonos ones? Looking for music in a double car garage. Mostly pop / hi-hop type music. THANKS

Hi everyone. I am permanently installing two Gen 1 Play 5's in my room. I want to mount them on the wall. The best wall bracket for my purpose is the Flexson tilt and swivel but they appear to be discontinued and out of stock everywhere, irrespective of what websites claim! 1 Does anyone know where I can get some of these in black? 2 Does anyone know of an alternative, probably generic, wall bracket that will work brilliantly? There is a bracket from Cavus but this only has swivel, not tilt. Tilt would be the more important feature in my installation. I hope someone else has battled with this and look forward to inspiration :-) Cheers Andy

I am slowly working on getting my House outfitted with Sonos Speakers. I currently the the Beam and that works fine for my Current Usage. I thinking about what to do for the Rear Surrounds. I now there are essentially 3 of the smaller speakers which I am thinking will be fine for my particular setup. I am just getting thoughts on if there would be any reason for me to get the Sonos:One (Gen1 or Gen2) over the Play:1. Since this will primarily be for surround sound usage and some music, whenever it gets to that point when I can get my family to actually use that aspect of them more commonly.

Hey. My setup today: Kitchen: two stereo paired Play 1 Living room: Beam Daugthers room: Play 1 My question is. We often listen at low volumes, but I really need more bass in the living room. But I think the Sub is expensive “just” to get more bass. Is the SUB worth it, when we for the most of the time only listen to low volumed music and television. Do you got the Beam and SUB, and what is your opinion about the sound at low volume, or is it first when you crank it up, that you feel the bass. Can you even feel the bass in your body?

Hi, I want to improve my tv sound and living room stereo. I have a pair of Bose 201 bookshelf speakers and I’m considering either buying the Sonos amp for the Bose speakers with a Sonos sub or simply a Sonos playbar with a sonos sub. Sound quality is the main goal. What would you recommend?

Hi Guys. I have a 30' x 30' deck plus double that in garden and have been moving a pair or play 3's outside when needed but now need something better. I debated a bean under the eve but it wouldnt last I think and the mrs doesnt want white or large speakers on the wall ruling out the new Sonance ones ... what would you recommend? a) keep using the 3's b) old or new Amp + standard speakers BOSE 251 Yamaha AW592 Dayton Audio IO655 Monitor Audio Climate 50 c) old or new Amp + smaller speakers Polk Satellite 30's TIC GS5 d) old or new Amp + flowerbed speakers Niles GS4 (as much cheaper than bose ones)

I have an approx 32x16 covered porch that I would like to use sonos on--want to attach to wall so they don't "walk" off to other places 🙂 They would be pretty well protected but there is the occasional blowing rain. Any one else have this? And what setup would you recommend? Thanks!
