Can anyone suggest a suitable Toslink cable to fit the port on the Connect. Nothing I've bought fits securely and drops out!

It sounds like you've broken off the dust flap, which also holds the connector in place.

No the flap is fine it's just that the cables won't go in - the metal ends are not long enough...

You are removing the little plastic/rubber cap on the end of the center of the connector? Many TOSLINK cables come with a little nub that protects the end of the optical part of the cable, it has to be removed before inserting into the port on the TV and PLAYBAR.

You can see the little protectors at the end of the cables at this link:

Haha - I have removed the cap so that is not the issue! Does anyone have a Toslink cable they use and can let me know which one?

They're all the same, that's why they use the name TOSLINK. It's a standard. One brand wouldn't be any different than another.

Of course, you may not have a true TOSLINK cable, too. There are some computer cables which look very similar in format, but aren't actually TOSLINK.

You may want to look and see if perhaps someone stuck something in your port, and there's maybe one of those caps/nubs stuck in it. Or swap the cable around, as each end is exactly the same.

Working cables:
Amazon Basics, https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NH11H38/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
A bunch from Monoprice.com including this monster:

You have something broken, or crud in the jack. I'd suggest some well lighted close-up pics e-mailed to Sonos support to get an exchange going on a replacement.
