Hi guys. I just purchased two Play 1's to go with my Beam. The Beam is connected to a 2016 Samsung vis HDMI Arc. I'm not sure if Im getting surround sound. While watching "normal" tv on occasions/intermittently the rears don't come on. Plus I was expecting a huge difference with the new set up. Here is my current setting on the TV HDMI Audio Format = Bitstream Audio Format= PCM (The other option is DTS Neo 2.5. Dolby Digital is greyed out) Checked on the Sonos Controller and the Beam's Audio in is Stereo, but The Play 1's doesn't indicate any Audio in (Should it?) Do I need to change the settings on my Samsung? Your help will be muchly appreciated. Cheers
So when I walked outside after two days of torrential down pours. We live in Pennsylvania and we were hit with the residual effects of hurricane Florence . I walked outside and saw my play three was left outside during all this rain . It was even plugged in. Well maybe the The play 3 is an outdoor speaker because I plugged it in and it worked and it sounds as good ever! Phew . maybe I got lucky Ir perhaps this is the first time they ever tested one of the speakers outside in the rain
Everywhere I read, it says that when placed in horizontal orientation, the inside tweeters are disabled to maintain stereo separation. My two stereo paired play 5s disable the outside and keep playing from the middle and inside. This seems backwards to me. I have them located in two alcoves on either side of my fireplace, so they are firing into the side of my fireplace. I would like the outside active, like I've read about, as they would have a better chance of bouncing off the room's walls and help fill the space. I love them and how they sound, but this contradiction from what I've read and what I am experiencing is confusing. I tried unpairing and re-pairing and I get the same thing. Any insight would be appreciated.
My mother ordered 4 Sonos One's, and since I own a couple Play:1s and a Play:3, I thought I'd do a simple side by side comparison of the 3. Simple setup, all 3 of them side by side, and ran Trueplay on all 3. Played a variety of songs from orchestra to rock. I'm no audio expert, but here's a couple things I noticed about the sound quality. This may not be a surprise to a lot of people! :) 1. Play:3 obviously had more bass due to the extra driver. 2. Play:1 has more bass than the Sonos One 3. Sonos One sounds clearer/sharper than the Play:1 and Play:3 4. Play:1 and Play:3 sound clarity were very close, Play:1 maybe slightly better in some cases. This is a side by side comparison and I probably wouldn't have known the difference otherwise (besides the bass in the Play:3.) Overall, they all sound great to me!!
Just went to Best Buy today, and the Play 3 has been REMOVED from the new Sonos display--just a Play 1, Play 5, and the new ONE. The guy told me it's still for sale, but it's being discontinued. Anybody else heard this? Is it going to be replaced with another Play 3 type "middle of the road" speaker, I wonder?
I have a sonos setup consisting of playbar, sub, and play5's version 2. I also have a set of meridian dsp8000 active speakers that I would like to integrate into the sonos system. Can this be done by using the connect and running it directly into the dsp8000 speakers?
So i've just noticed something on sonos own shop. The fact that i cannot find Play:3 anywhere means they've removed the product from sale and would mean an updated version is coming i believe. Are we getting a Play:3 Gen 2 before christmas? Discuss.
Hey there, Looking for a bit of info regarding the new Sonos ONE with Alexa. I currently have my Sonos PLAY 1's mounted on brackets in the corners of my living room for surround sound. Will the Sonos ONE be able to mount on the same wall bracket or will there be a different way to mount it? Thanks for any replies. Cheers, Alan
Hi, I was just wondering if it would be safe to set the 'Line In source level' to 10 with an iPhone connected and turning it up to fairly high volumes. Would this damage the speaker? The speaker I would be using is a Sonos Play 5 1st gen. Thanks
Anyone else thinking up of a bunch of uses of a smaller, less-expensive Sub? Especially zones with in-ceiling speakers or a modest Playbar setup. Nothing drastically different on overall design, just smaller and costing $500...
It all started with my sonos one not playing anymore... after multiple times trying to fix decided do disable the skill... worked for that one. However other speakers stopped working. I have 2 sonos1 speakers that were perfectly paired. One of them simply stopped. Tried even factory reset with the two sonos 1 players but pairing sinply doesn't work. Have now only one of them playing... please advise what else has to be done...
I have 2 houses.............. I have 2 complete Sonos systems.............. (Day 1) I am moving a pair of (1s) speakers to house 2 from house 1............no help from your web info on my laptop, or apple app on my phone !!!!!!!!! (Day 2) I have messed up my house 2 by adding only one off my (1) speakers from house 1 by pairing it to the wrong speaker in house 2. I am trying to add a new room for my new pair but you have no info on how to do that. Now I am going to start to delete speakers to try again. Customer requesting new speaker size, smaller than play:1
Saw this in a previous string. My Play1 won’t stream music from my phone playlists with the buffering warning. In-wall speakers connected to amps work fine. My diagnostic number is 1855546344
Muffled sound comes in and out. Sent problem in 1189429322.
After updating to the latest firmware my Sonos Connect:Amp does not respons to the line in. It plays fine from the network. I have tried several sources and cables plugged into the line in.
Hi, Does anyone know how I can de-register (or de-couple) a Sonos One (with Alexa) from my Sonos account, so it can be registered with a new owner? To explain: I had a Sonos One and registered it to my Sonos account, and with the Alexa App. I have given it to my son and he would now like to add it to his own Sonos Account and set it up with Alexa on his own Amazon account. I've managed to decouple it from Amazon no problem, but can't find out how to do this in my Sonos account. One last point: The Sonos One is now in a different country (Netherlands) where my son is attending uni. Any ideas?
Message says not room enough for new playlist, replace. Well, I want to delete a very large one. How?
My Sonos system keeps skipping songs halfway through. I have read several comments from others and their troubleshooting ideas. Have tried it all. No luck. I've submitted a diagnostic # 2017805003. Please help!!!
Hi, I've had my Plabase + 2 Play:1 set up in surround mode for a year + without any issue. Everything on WiFi setup. The PlayBase has had a wired connection since i got it, but when I got the Play:1s I switched to WiFi as I did not want to add cables to the surrond speakers. A while ago I noticed that there was no longer any sound from the Play:1s. I tried to remove the surround, and re-add it. But it gives me an error. It goes through the set-up, I press the buttons on the speakers to add them to the surround. I get notified this: "Preparing the speakers in this room to work together. This may take a minute." I can play anything on the Play:1s on their own, but I can not add them to the PlayBase as surround speakers. It goes through the set, I press the buttons, and comes to: "Preparing the speakers in this room to work together. This may take a minute." Then I get: "Setup problem There was a problem preparing your speakers. Please check your network c
May I know, the meaning of the number that appears behind the "WM: " indication in the "About My Sonos System" dialog? I discover mine seemingly displays random number & the number changes depending on the number of devices that are powered on. For example: When my PlayBar isn't powered on, my system shows: Associated ZP: 192.168.1.120 --------------------------------- PLAY:1: Kitchen Hardware Version: 1.8.3.7-2 IP Address: 192.168.1.118 WM: 1 OTP: --------------------------------- PLAY:1: Living Room (LS) Hardware Version: 1.8.3.7-1 IP Address: 192.168.1.104 WM: 1 OTP: --------------------------------- PLAY:1: Living Room (RS) Hardware Version: 1.8.3.7-1 IP Address: 192.168.1.105 WM: 1 OTP: --------------------------------- SUB: Living Room Hardware Version: 1.8.2.5-2 IP Address: 192.168.1.109 WM: 1 OTP: --------------------------------- PLAY:3: Master Bedroom Hardware Version: 1.8.1.2-1 IP Address: 192.168.1.121 WM: 1 OTP: -------------------
My cat has a habit of turning the sonos on in the middle of the night by stepping on the buttons. A friend has the same problem and solved it by taping the cap from a medicine bottle over the buttons. This is an ugly and inconvenient solution. It would be great if the sonos had a true "off" setting.
My Play:1 is connected Via Ethernet to my laptop via firewire. I use SonoAir to be able to use it as an output for my MAC, allowing me to use it for youtube, etc. I make music and i have been able to make it work as an output in logic pro x audio settings. But there is that delay of some seconds which is annoying but i work around it. The quality is amazing for this speaker and a good innovation, Make it better by fixing this issue for all play:1 owners. And all future Sonos products. IM looking for a better way to get no delay to keep making good music. Im aware of buying an amp, which i will just not this second. what if...
I am a beta tester for apple and cannot retune my speaker now. Help??
