I would like to see an additional option in advanced settings to "Prevent Updates". This would be used by people who have a significant investment in older controllers or some other reason not to use the latest firmware and want to prevent an accidental upgrade. The key difference for this setting from just unchecking the "Automatically check for updates" box are as follows: - The new option will remove the "Update Now" button from showing on any controller. - The new option will cause zone players or controllers that may have required repair to take on the current system firmware revision when added back to the system rather than forcing an update to the latest firmware version. (Note this is not the same as rolling back firmware which Sonos says it will not support) -The new option will block any third party app or controller from initiating an update unless you go into advanced options and explicitly turn off the "Prevent Updates" flag.
I have a pair of old Play:1. I would like to spray paint the grill white - with the same color as the speaker. What is the color code for the white color ?
Can i make a stereo pair with a Sonos play 1 and Sonos play 3. I already have a play 1 mounted in a room and want to buy another Sonos but as apposed to getting another play 1 I think a play 3 would be better but only if I can create a stereo pair with them, I know you can't pair a 5 & a 3 but can you pair a 3 & a 1 ???
I want to uninstall my sonos app in my android to be able to download a sonos app in US play store using VPN for me to be able to get a version of sonos app where voice service for alexa can be set up. May I ask how I could reset my sonos one to factory settings for me to do the download of a US sonos app. my current sonos app form plays store have no alexa in voice service.
I have been reading the tropic of music skipping and my system also does its fair share of skipping. Seems like in the last year is when the problem started popping up, most likely after a software update. I have had my speakers over 6 year and never once did the problems like this pop up. When I look at the feed back, its never a Sonos software problem! (Its either a wifi or electrical interference problem) My music skips so I did the following 1, Played music only from my music library (iPad and iMac) skips 2, Played music from Pandora skips 3, Played music from Pandora with one speaker five feet from router skips 4, Change speakers and placed the other one five feet from router skips 5, Changed channels on my system skips 6, Changed channel on my wifi skips More people would be here if they listened and took notice.
When I am listening to Pandora or Songza the song will cut off randomly in the middle and jump to the next track. This has happened with my iTunes library as well, but far less frequently. Biggest problem is Pandora. Diagnostic confirmaton # is 3437289. Thanks for your help.
Can Sonos speakers connect to a Google home mini (after Google assistant is supported) like they can with other sonos speakers? For example, the way sonos speakers can play the same music in separate rooms on multiple sonos speakers, can he same be done with a sonos speaker and a Google home mini?
I have a old Play 3 that is connected with a Bridge. One month ago I bought an other Play3. This one didnt need a bridge at all. Do you know what the difference is between the old ones and the new ones. Is it a hardware change or is it a software change? If its a software change, is it enough with an normal update?
I was wondering if there's an easy way to show off some of my Sonos system to a family member in THEIR home. I'd love to be able to take a couple of my Play 1's to my family Xmas for the day, next month. I actually tried to use one of my Play 1's for a neighborhood Halloween party at my next door neighbor's house two weeks ago. I thought I could just connect to my neighbor's WIFI network, and even installed the Sonos app on his phone, but it wasn't worth the trouble in terms of being asked to set up a new account, etc... Has anyone else done this?
I recently purchased a bunch of Sonos speakers. For my living room I ended up using a configuration of 2 Play 5 gen 2. For the dining room I'm using 2 x One. When listening to the Play 5s, I'm getting the impression that the sound signature is sort of muffled. The speakers I used previously was a set of Genelec 8020. I find that the sound character of the Play 5s are much more colored. It helps a lot when I up the Treble, but I really prefer not meddling with EQ-settings. Listening to the Ones, I don't get the same impression of color in the sound. Have anyone else experienced something similar?
Hi everyone, Hi Sonos, I've recently purchased my first Sonos speaker, a Sonos One, and I'm very happy with it! The way I use it is very mobile: I bring it with me from a desk space in the living room to the bedroom and also to another room upstairs that I like to work in sometimes. With a laptop and wi-fi everywhere, I like to hang out wherever I feel best at the moment and I take my Sonos One with me. Now since I frequently switch between these 3 places with my speaker, it would be great to have easy access to loading whatever Trueplay Tuning profile was created in a given room instead of having to go through the procedure of creating a new one every time. I also noticed that they often come out slightly different and I keep finding myself wishing I could go back to the one I had yesterday, for example. Therefore I think it would be very nice to have the ability to store and reload different Trueplay Tunings. Thank you 🙂
Aside from playing Audio/music,what else can HomePod do? I found some information in https://devicebase.net/en/product/apple-homepod-speaker/99990090 . However,I want to get additional input about the product. Thank you in advance.
Is it possible to connect a speaker model One with another speaker model Play:1 to create a stereo system?
Living in a crowded area with 20 different 2.4GHz wireless networks around is really frustrating with Sonos. I've invested in many speakers and I'm constantly getting queues of podcasts either skipped 2 minutes into each 1hr podcast or the playback stops altogether because of interference... really annoying when you're listening from the shower or busy in the middle of something around the house. I've called Sonos tech support and while they are excellent, the best they could do is have me put my system in Bridge mode which didn't solve the problem. Apparently the speakers I have all do support 5GHz (contrary to what most say) because when you have a Surround setup it uses 5GHz to communicate between the speakers. So PLEASE let me enable 5GHz on all of my other speakers to avoid this interference. If the hardware exists in the speaker, let me use it!!! I understand it won't have the same range with 5GHz but I don't want range anyway. I want flawless playback. I've invested a l
Hi everybody! Was debating should I sell my Play 3 and get two Play 1's. At the end, I bought a used Play 3 🙂 Shippment in a few days. A few questions: Did I make a good choice? Is the Play 3 still a good speaker, compared to newer Play1 and Play5? Really how good do they sound in stereo? How do I trueplay them when in stereo mode? Will the two Play 3's on the opposite corners of my room provide enough power to fill my 50 square metres of open space? (One Play 3 must be turned out pretty loud to do so. I am looking for evenly spread sound across the room.) Thanks Neven
I have a playbar and I had 2 Sonos One speakers as my surrounds. I bought 2 new play 3 speakers today and it seems like they don’t have near as much bass. I went in and turned the bass all the way up. I thought the play 3 was supposed to be better sound quality wise.
Hello. I have 2 Sonos play 5 and for our apartment is more than enough, but I also want to use it for watching tv/movies. My goal is to have a good sound experience and NO lip sync problems. I have this diagram to explain my goal. Is it possible? - Use Sonos Connect to stream the AV-Receiver to all my Sonos Speakers and be able to watch my AppleTV without lip sync problem.
I have a brand new playbar connected to my TV, I only unboxed it today, but I have to admit that when I disconnected my stereo and the playbar took over, I was disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic? My old stereo is a Denon UD-M3, and I have two Celestion F1 70w speakers connected to it. My feeling is that the soundbar is clearer in the high frequencies, but the old stereo has a lot more power. Is there any way to objectively compare these? I know there's a lot of functionality in the Sonos that I'll never get from the old speaker, but I don't feel too clever buying a $700 system to discover it's inferior, or perhaps just marginally better or a bit different. Fortunately I can return the Sonos if I'm unhappy, so I'm not just whining. I'm hoping for some tips to discover where the soundbar excels. 🙂 I have two Play:1s that I had intended to configure for surround, but I may reconsider anyway if the main system is a downgrade. I'm not planning to get the su
Hey, I'm on the fence about jumping into the Sonos community with two Sonos Ones. I'm almost convinced but there's one thing holding me back. Can I use the Sonos ones to play out of my TV, as well as playing music? For example, playing Netflix or Amazon via a Google Chromecast OR screen mirroring to the TV via an Apple TV - can I wirelessly connect the Sonos Ones to play out audio in these scenarios? Thanks! Gully
Hi guys, for no reason at all my play 3 has dropped off my network and now just has a continuos flashing white light, it's no longer recognised as being part of my network? I've tried doing a factory re-set but still no go, just a flashing white light all the time? Any help would be appreciated.
When I group a Connect AMP and Playbar (which is connected to a TV), I can't control the volume using the TV's remote as a group, it only adjusts the volume of the Playbar. This means I have to reset the balance of the speakers within the group every time someone adjusts the volume using the TV remote. Having to adjust the volume on my Connect Amp within the Sonos app is a real pain. Is there a way the group volume can be controlled by the TV remote?
I have 2 x Play 5's and 2 x Play 1's and the system has been running perfectly for the last 6 months. I'm running the Sonos app on a Samsung S3 most of the time and on a pc occasionally. Yesterday I purchased an iPad and in my haste to get that up and running I loaded the app onto that and followed the instructions that came up to update software. All fine and control from the iPad was perfect. However, my S3 is now not working and I'm getting the error message that the operating systems out of date and must be updated. Which I cannot do. I'm assuming the problem is I now have two bits of kit one with an old operating system (Android 4.0) and one with a new one (IOS11). The S3 can't be upgraded but I would like to control Sonos from the S3 but think I'm going to be out of luck unless there is a workaround?
*sigh* C'mon Sonos, you used to be better than this. Your second refreshed play 1 speaker is the super big announcement? After previous big product releases being a refreshed playbar and a refreshed play 5? The surprise being built in microphones which leaked months ago? No noise cancelling headphones or outdoor speakers or portable speakers like users have been requesting for years? Not even a cheap stand alone microphone unit for those who already have Sonos systems and want Alexa or Google Home? You use to be the leaders. Now it seems like you're either resting on existing products (refreshes) or playing catch up (integrating microphones) and giving us nothing new:(
Sonos shower speaker (water proof speaker) would allow another option for listening that would be great.
I just purchased a single Play:5. I have to turn it about 3/4 of the way up to hear it much at all, and at max volume, it is not nearly what one would expect from a speaker of this quality. I have the volume setting all the way up, plus the bass and treble at max. Nothing seems to help. Is there another setting I'm missing? Thank you.
