I would like to be able to right click on a song/songs and go to open with, and have the files go directly to the Sonos controller and play. Itunes, windows media and many other player do it.
I've been a Sonos customer for almost 4 years now. I started with a Sonos Connect:Amp and loved it so much, I continued adding components (2x Play:5, 3x Play:3, and a Sub - have been considering 2x Play:1 and a Playbar). Additionally, in boasting about the simplicity and stability of Sonos, many of my friends and colleagues have also added Sonos to their life. Unfortunately, over the past year - each update causes more problems. It's to the point now where I dread updates and delay updating itself until I'm no longer able to run my system without updating. I'm not sure what you guys are doing - but I'm getting really tired of resetting my entire system, fiddling with switching router brands, and struggling through non-responsive music services every time you feel like making some incremental update to a system that worked pretty much flawlessly 4 years ago. Sonos definitely seems to have lost touch with the user friendliness that sold me as a customer. I'm really hoping you get
I love the Group feature of Sonos but having to use a PC/Tablet/Phone to set up a group or add/remove devices from a Group is a bit overkill. Would it be possible to add the Group feature to the play/pause button using a "long press"? At the moment a "single press" of the play/pause button will start/stop the music stream and a "double press" will skip to the next track. Could a "long press" be used to put the speaker into "Group mode".or add it to an existing group. So, if you "long press" the button on the first speaker it goes into "Group mode" and then if you "long press" the button on another speaker it joins the first one in a group. Then you could "long press" the button on another speaker to add it to the group etc etc. To remove a speaker from the group you simply "single press" the button, which would also stop the stream. If you wanted to play a single speaker without adding it to a group you simply "single press" the button, as now. I would find this incredibly us
So I ranted here: https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/its-2016-make-playbar-gen-2-for-dts-fix-aux-for-play-5-gen-2-6735204/index2.html about 2016 issues. This was on top of what I saw from other people. Well, it's now the day. It's a massive ebay sale along with Alexa. I bought 4 google home's, 2 x Sony (HT-ST9 - with google cast built in), 3 audiocast dongles, dumped apple music in favor of sonos, and it all work's. It's truly multi-home. I created zones and now my google home projects music where I want it, how I want it, in overlapping zones if required. The last insult was the release of the playbase with optical only support. Just had to post to let you know that I would follow up on this. Sony is embracing updating their tech through software with google home (shocking, but you might as well trade spots with them). Best of luck and good luck!
I have a couple of new Sonos One speakers, and love the sound. The bass is great but not overwhelming even at low volumes. At near peak volume though, the bass gets lost a bit, and the sound overall isn’t very well balanced for my taste. I decided to step up to a play 3 hoping that the bass would be at least equivalent at low volumes, and more consistent through peak volume. Even comparing a single Sonos One speaker to a single play 3, I was very disappointed with the bass performance of the play 3. To my ears, it doesn’t get nearly as deep as the Sonos One, and I can hardly hear the bass at all (other than “punchy” bass) until l push the play 3 past 50% volume. I do think the play 3 sounds “better” overall at high volumes especially, but I love my bass, and can’t seem to get enough of it from the play 3 at any volume or eq setting. Has anyone else had a similar issue, or did I maybe get a lemon play 3?
Music stops randomly-- 5-10 min. goes on pause.
We currently have SONOS in several rooms in the house, all for music listening only. We're looking to swap out the DefTech we have for our home theater but are not sure if the PlayBar or PlayBase is a better choice in a room with 16' cathedral ceilings? TV sits on a media console and is NOT wall mountable.
I've been a loyal customer for a number of years now, enjoying the experience and telling everyone how great you are. But, this joyride has come to an end. Why? Your decision to require Internet access in order to function, and to prevent functionality until all components have been "updated." This decision no doubt is so you can continually improve my listening experience, either through the speakers or through the app. While I appreciate your earnestness to try to please me, you've turned needy. I need you to play my music from any source. That's it. Nothing more. Yet you insist on updating. And you get cranky when you can't reach the internet. So much so you refuse to function completely -- obstructing the enjoyment of my music library. This amounts to nothing more than abuse. Therefore, I'm leaving you. It's been fun -- we've shared a lot of good times together. I'm going to miss you. But it's not me -- it's you.
I love my new #SonosOne but it would be even better if it had a USB charging port and if it supported Drop In. I realize the charging port is not a software add🆒, so no upgrade path there. Is there a timeline for adding support for drop in?
Hi, Just received my Playbase and I have it hooked with my two Play 1 speakers for surround sound. I bought Chromecast Audio so I could integrate Playbase with my Google Home, but there doesn't seem to be a line-in. I thought Playbase was able to integrate with Home. Maybe I was wrong. If not, does anyone know how to integrate Playbase with Google Home? Thanks, Kenny
Is there a a way to disable the LED lights on a wired SONOS component? I have multiple wired SONOS components on the house and the ones located in the bedrooms need to have the LED light disabled. It is amazing how such a small LED can light up a dark room.
So I have looked around but didn’t find the answer anywhere... When I save a playlist as a favourite (because I want to select it with the Xpress remote that I got as a replacement for my CR100) the same playlist now shows up TWICE under “My Sonos” in the iOS app. I can delete the favourite, then the original playlist stays on there. If I delete the “real” playlist, both entries disappear... I am sure this is not how this is supposed to work, as all my favourite playlists are showing up two times on the My Sonos screen. I have looked but have not found any way to switch the iOS app to just showing favourites or only playlists on the My Sonos screen. Am I doing something wrong?
I already have a Sonos Connect, and is searching for a pair of active (amplified) in ceiling speakers to save me from buying a Sonos Connect AMP. I have found some relatively cheap and recommended bluetooth ceiling speakers, and would like to find out if these could be compatible with the Sonos Connect without any additional needs. The Bluetooth option itself is not a required option, it is more the solution of having the ability to integrate the ceiling speakers with the Sonos Connect which is the goal. 1. Pyle PDICBT852RD This is a 2-way 8" bluetooth ceiling speaker sold in a pair, whereas 1 speaker is active and 1 is passive. It is also said to be compatible with home theather (i.e. possible to integrate). Then it also should be possible to connect the speakers to Sonos Connect? 2.Monocor SPE-230BT Same as above, this is said to be an active in ceiling speaker sold in pair, whereas 1 is active and 1 is passive.
I can't reauthorise my spotify account. I have tried switching off, resetting controller but still won't work. I can log into my spotify app with facebook
I would need a possibility to save behind some preset buttons as bookmarks level of volume and Music Sources for different rooms. For example I could have a "TV set" for listening to TV in two rooms at certain volume level. Then preset button "Radio" could put a certain radio channel to every Play:5 except those in children's rooms.
Sort this app out, need to stop it changing phone volume when you change speaker volume
Hello, Already owner of a Play-5 I am currently following with interest the arrival of the playbar. I have 1 question regarding the Ethernet connection of the PlayBar. I could see there are 2 ports and in the specifications it is mentioned : 'A single Ethernet port can connect PLAYBAR to a wired home network. A second Ethernet port can be used to share wireless control.' My Play-5 is currently connected with Eternet to the router. If I would buy a playbar, it would take the place of the Play-5. the Play-5 would then be moved to another room. So will the Playbar act as the Play-5 that means be the entry point to the router to then connect other components ? Thanks for your feedback. Regards, Régis
Hi- I currently have the 5.1 home theater system connected to a Samsung. I only use it to watch blue ray movies and cable via DirectTV. The Samsung does not pass 5.1 audio, so I got the Monoprice 4X1 HDMI device. Both the DirectTV cable box and the blue ray player are connected to the Monoprice via HDMI. The Monoprice output line goes to the TV and the digital optic output line from the Monoprice goes directly to the Sonos playbar. I get 5.1 when watching movies and when watching HD channels via DirectTV such as college/pro football. I was just planning on doing the same exact setup with my new 60-inch Sony KDL60W630B/2 until I realized that the Sony can pass through 5.1. I just want to make sure I am correctly conceptualizing this before I set up the system: with the new Sony I can directly attach the blue ray player and cable box to the TV via HDMI and run the digital optic cable from the TV to the playbar. I should get 5.1 when watching blue rays and cable tv (on HD channels) wit
If you install the anymote app and add it as a skill in Alexa, you can use it to do voice Command over your Sonos. This appears to work the best when compared to alternatives. See the link below for anymote in the Play Store. I set mine up relatively quick today and it immediately worked. You may have to pay $6.99 for the full version. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.remotefairy4
Hello, I have set up my Playbase and it it works great with my Sony TV. During the setup process the Playbase recognized my remote and everything works as desired with one exception. When I change the volume with the remote the TV displays a message that the volume is fixed while the Playbase adjusts its volume. Based on a search of this site, it appears that most people just set the TV volume back to variable to stop the message from being displayed. With this setup, I would guess that when you adjust the volume via the remote that both the TV and the Playbase are changing their respective volumes simultaneously. So, I would like to leave the TV set to fixed but still turn the message off. I realize this is a not a Sonos problem but wondered if someone had encountered this issue and found a solution that turned the message off via a method other than changing the TV volume to variable. Your assistance is appreciated. Chris
I’m getting tired of the forced updates to use my product. Additionally, I tried to add a new player to my existing 5 player system yesterday and I can’t do it without the mandatory sonos account! I paid north of $300 and it’s a brick until I create an account. I now forced to update my desktop app - something I never use - and can’t because of an error and am told I’ve got to do a full reinstall because the version on the desktop is out of sync with the versions on my players. This because SONOS forced the crap updates on me. This is on top of the last two weeks of fooling around with a system that won’t stay connected because the players got out of sync between a bridge and the WiFi. I’m about done. This sucks. What do I do to get this up without a forced account and more mandatory updates?
Can't believe Sonos have made so many mistakes with the latest update. I seem to recall that all previous updates appeared to improve the functionality of Sonos, but not this one. Did you guys not have the common sense to test the update with real people, rather than sitting in your ivory tower thinking that what you had done was great ? Do you not realise that people have made a significant investment in your products and don't deserve to be mucked about. My issues are: 1) Room Functionality - it took me 30 minutes to realise how multi-room now works. So frustrating 2) Changing between EVERYWHERE and back to distinct rooms doesn't work. I just recently put on my music to all 5speakers in my house (2 in one room and 3 in another) so I could prepare a bit of food in the kitchen. It worked fine until I then wanted to go back to my den and only have 2 speakers working. The controller would not allow me to swtich off the other 3 speakers. It is a glitch !!!!
I am having difficulty getting Sonos to play certain .wav files. I have linked the windows media library and that works fine, but some files won't play.
Playbar and sub worked with existing TV for 2-3 years (maybe more). Now the 'media room' is gone from the controller as are the Playbar and Sub. When I unplug/replug Playbar and sub the connect right up with white light but can't be seen via controller on iOS or Windows (so I can control the volume). I submitted diagnostics with confirmation number is: 8303812.
Boy, would I sure like Sonos capable headphones! Sure, I could setup a Connect and a headphone amp or some wireless headphone set, but I'd like to wear them around the house in a range no wireless or cable would reach. It can't be that tough to build a set of wireless SONOS headphones.
