Hi there guys I would like some information on how to set up a multi-room setup for a Sonos system. I am looking at having around 10 zones in total. I just wanted some advice on on what power amps to use in ceiling speakers. And also if we can connect up to 10 zones on one Sonos system with 10 power amps.
I use my Google Music library, but unlike on Google, where I can just view all songs from a genre, in Sonos I can only view each album from that genre, and then from there I can drill down further to see the one or two songs I have from that album, before backing out of the album, and going into each individual one to see the rest of the songs. It makes no sense, and makes it virtually impossible to create a queue or playlist by genre, unless you have an extreme amount of time and patience. Hint for Sonos if they decide to actually help on this issue (doubtful): Google also breaks it down by album, but the first "album" is actually just a "see all" folder, that shows every single song from that genre or artist. That way you can access all the songs together, without having to click in and out of every album.
When I search for an artist on Google Play and then go into the "My Library" section it only shows the albums. There is no option for showing all the tracks by the artist in the library. This is particularly frustrating when searching for an artist that appears on 1 or more multi-artist compilations. When you go into each compilation album it shows all of the tracks on the album (by other artists as well) and it is very difficult to find the track by the searched artist on the multi-artist compilation. Please add an "All" option that shows all of the tracks. The functionality should be the same as searching for an artist in the local (indexed) library. Currently I can't easily search for an artist on Google Play and add all of the tracks by that artist that are in my library. This should only take a few clicks. Please add the Google Play "Auto Playlists" as well. There is currently no way of playing the "Thumbs Up" playlist which is very frust
I say random, because they are questions about configuration and setup that I wouldn't, and I'm not sure there is a good reason to set it up this way. Still, in hopes of better understanding the product. Question 1: The primary way of connecting the beam to the tv as an audio source is by the TV's hdmi arc. If you're tv doesn't have arc, or you just don't want to use it and optical isn't an option, can you use hdmi directly from the source? For example, you have hdmi out from a cable box to a splitter, which then sends hdmi to your tv, and then to the beam. The beam would receive audio and video, not the same as arc, but the video is there. Assuming the audio codec used is something Sonos can work with, would this setup work? You clearly would lose control of turning the tv on and off and other ARC functions, but would you get audio still? Not recommending this at all, and I doubt there would be a good reason to ever use this. Just wondering if the Beam can possibly ta
Is there any way I can control the level of the sub without going to settings?
I just got a new Playbase since the wifi module broke on my old one. I noticed that my new Playbase have two indicator lights, one on top and one subtle on the front behind the cover. This made me curious and I wonder if there are any other minor changes between the batches?
Dear Experts, I have just purchased this wireless projector: http://www.brookstone.com/pd/200-lumen-wireless-mobile-smart-projector/318023p.html?autosuggest=true This can easily be paired with bluetooth speakers, but not so easy with Sonos. I have play1, playOne, playbar and the sub and I would like to be able to get the sound from this projector to the Sonos system. What extra equipment will I need? The projector as and audio output, USB and and HDMI port. Thanks you for helpful advice!
Hi. I have recently purchased two Sonos Ones to go with my playbase to add surround sound to the tv sound. I set them up a week ago adding them to my playbase and sub in the same room but when I set the tv sound on through the app they don’t omit any sound at all. All the tv sound comes from the playbase. When I play music it comes from all speakers. I had two play 5 in the same room (recently purchased) to try to solve this problem but that didn’t work either but the play 5’s would play music with the playbase. I’ve searched the app room settings and tried adjusting everything to no avail. I’m not new to sonos as I have the same set up downstairs with a playbar and tv sound comes from all speakers but I can’t get the same result upstairs. The surrounds aren’t doing anything except when music is playing. It’s doing my head in.
I love my SONOS system. I live in a log home and SONOS is a perfect solution to enjoying great audio without worrying about wires. That said, I have two rooms with a home theater (Playbar, Sub, 2 Play 1s), plus a mix of Play 3s throughout my house. Do anyone know of a way around having to regroup all my speakers after watching TV? It is annoying that when you turn the TV/Home Theater system off, I have to regroup everything when I want to listen to music throughout the house. I like using the home theater speakers when listening to music throughout the house.
Just bought the Playbar, and my tv only has digital coaxial out. So I bought a converter, hoping it would solve the issue temporarily, while I shop for a new television. https://www.amazon.com/ROOFULL-Optical-Converter-Bi-Directional-Repeater/dp/B01N32C5GT/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1528946684&sr=8-3&keywords=digital+coaxial+to+optical+converter Have this television: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/416044/Panasonic-Tc-L42u5.html#manual I set up the converter and I don’t get any red light from the output wire. When I try the same wire into my PS4, I’m in business. Don’t really know what to try next. Any help is greatly appreciated. Phil
I just got my new Play 5 and SUB setup! So far the system is incredible. I was trying to choose between a Play 5 pair, or a single Play 5 with a SUB and I do NOT regret my decision to get the SUB. I have an open floor plan in my home and wanted something to fill the space with rich sound. Several threads said that a stereo pair of Play 5s would be the way to go... but I've tried a few speakers in my space and none of them really had the "depth" that I was looking for. The Sonos SUB fills my desire perfectly! It's so rich. I may eventually get that second Play 5 to really fill the space, but I have no regrets. :D I noticed a few topics saying that Trueplay really scaled back the SUB, and while I agree that Trueplay did make the sound a bit 'lean'... what it did beautifully was balance the sound in my space and eliminate boomy "hotspots". All I did was bump up the bass a bit in the EQ and also bumped up the SUB level a touch to fill the room.
I have just board a second-hand WD100, because I want to use an old IPhone 4 as a controller /charger (that always is switched on) No I realize that my Sonos system won’t recognize the WD100. Searching google, and this forum, tells me just to add it as a Play 1 or a Bridge, but apparently none of those solutions are working anymore (properly due to a later sonos software update) Are there any way still to use my WD100? Heard something about that a sonos technician could help me downloading an old software version - e.g to my bridge, so I could update my WD100 (with no LAN cable connection) to the newest software. (this has already been reset to “factory settings” (Ending up going back to newest software on the bridge) Looking forward for an answer (And hope you understand my lousy English:P)
I just bought the TCL 6 sERIES 4K TV, and I want to dive into the Sonos community. I listened to both the Playbar and Playbase both with the SUB, and I really like the sound of the Bar over the Base. The Beam just seems to small for me, I want big loud music into my 12x14 rectangular living room. Will there be any setup or playback issues with this TV or setup?
I have found there is no "history" link or button in Sonos. Although Sonos is fantastic and next to miraculous in so many respects, not having a way to replay a track or retrieve a search is a real shortcoming. Once a number has been played one must re-do the search for the track or the album all over again. Has anyone found a way around this. I would like to petition Sonos to provide a "history" feature.
Is there a known issue with this combination - Trueplay just makes the sound so thin - the mid range and bass become non-existent. The non Trueplay setting is a bit muddy but its SO much fuller and warmer. I can't believe that the Trueplay settings are correct - it pretty much takes the SUB out of the mix entirely. I've tried with a number of devices and maybe the answer will be don't use Trueplay but I just cannot believe that the results I am getting with these speakers are in any way what is intended. Thanks
Is there a way to password protect the room settings? I use Sonos in a shared space on a shared network and someone constantly fiddles with the EQ and loudness settings. I would love to be able to lock these with a pin or password.
Hi - I need some help/advice what is needed to make my home theater setup wireless. I currently connect my SKY Q, Xbox and PS4 to my Pioneer AMP and then my AMP to the TV via HDMI. I still want to connect my devices to my AMP, but i would like to have Sonos wireless speakers. The problem i have is i don't understand how the sound then goes from the Pioneer AMP to the Sonos speakers. Is this even possible? If so what do i need to be looking at to allow this to happen? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
My workplace uses Sonos throughout the whole floor. It's sometimes hit or miss in it's connectivity to the speakers we have, which is is something I'm working to fix (either by adding additional boosters or finding different placements). Another thing that seems to be an issue is that we can't lock down the system to prevent others from changing anything. I've noticed that if there are many people accessing Sonos from their devices it glitches or freezes. We've considered adding it to a hidden network, but there are certain people that still need access to it with ease. Password/pin protecting rooms and/or the system would make things every easy for me. Opinions? Advise? Anything is welcome.
Hi!, i know that pairing a stereo mode is still imposible with 2 subs, i like a lot the Sound of the sonos sub thats why i bought two, hopefully with an update make this possible !!
I've seen this question a few times, but cannot find a solution and would like my system checked out. I have a Connect, SUB, and three PLAY:5's. The system is set up to have 3 groups, and I run them connected to one another 90% of the time. I have no issues with the services or other inputs, however, my TV and streaming inputs are a hit-or-miss thing. When I last moved, I upgraded my internet signal and speed to be at 100mbps and I have connected the CONNECT with ethernet directly to the modem/router, so that shouldn't be an issue. I have line in coming from either the TV or from the cable box. In both cases, every once in a while, I get a garbled/cutting out of the sound. It recovers, but it is extremely annoying. I have to keep it on Automatic to have a decent watching experience, as if i change compression, the lip sync is terrible. I sent some diagnostics to the support team and have usage data on, so im hoping you can see that information and make an assessment.
When i play songs from my iphone the songs wont play the full way through and instead skip to the next song. Any ideas?
I am hard of hearing and wanted to know if I could listen to the tv through Sonos 5.1 system on wireless headphones whilst other members of my family listen directly through the speakers simultaneously?
I know this is just one of 50 posts on this topic to come, but I was all set to buy a playbar to complete my 5.1 when the the announcement of the beam came. I’ve heard it described as a “Bedroom” or “ Small” Room Sound bar. I’m looking at it for my living room. I just want to make sure I’m considering everything before making a purchase. Beam: advantages are newer product, smart speaker capabilities, AirPlay 2, and HDMI-ARC; disadvantages are (maybe) sound compared to the Playbar? Playbar: advantages are sound; disadvantages are form factor; age of product Am I missing something? As someone whose never owned a sound bar, If I’m not overly concerned with controlling my soundbar with voice or Airplay 2, I guess (1) should I be (haha) or (2) is the Playbar the better option hands down? I guess the tl:dr question is: Does this come down to sound vs. bells and whistles? And if so, are the bells and whistles enough that I should consider rethinking my original plan to ge
This coupon rebate is the most poorly handled customer retention program I have ever witnessed. An email announcing the planned bricking of several hundred dollars of hardware purchased in good faith from the company. Great, thanks for the warning. Too bad you never asked my opinion or gave me the option of keeping it. Then you offer a single coupon for the 1 to N number of CR100s that I have. Not one coupon per device, no, just one. Although I did have to contact support to find this out. It wasn't communicated in the email announcement. So at this point, I was PO'd at this taking more time out of my day. But wait, here is a form to fill out. It requires all of my personal information (that I have in the account that I've had to create for some strange reason) and the individual product serial numbers. The completion of this step generates a third email that requires a verification of my email address, and that takes me to a screen that tells me the link as expired. Friday a fourth e
I have skimmed many of the "What should I buy" answers in this forum, but still don't have a clear picture of what I need. But I do know what I'd like to accomplish. Basically, my wife hated the Advent Legacy II's we bought in 1991 and talked me into Paradigm bookshelf speakers in '06. Now she hates seeing speaker wire string along the floorboard everywhere... So I suspect a Sonos system, of some type, is what I need. Here is what I would like: * Stereo speakers in the living room * Stereo speakers in the family room (two floors away) * A speaker (I'm OK with mono) in the master bath * A speaker (again, mono is OK) on the roof deck 1) I would like to have them all access my component system - an amplifier, Eq, CD player, and turntable. 2) I believe that, by virtue of being Sonos, they'd each be able to access my Sirius and Pandora accounts. 3) I would love to have them access my iTunes library. I am willing to let it sit on a dedicated PC (the entire library isn't on a
