I have two tower speakers (Polk Audio Monitor 70 II series) that I want to connect to the sonos system. The two options are direct from a Sonos Connect AMP (55W/channel), vs with Sonos Connect wired to a standard amp/receiver. Do you think the Sonos Connect AMP is powerful enough to power these big speakers? I'd honestly like to get rid of the amp...
I am going to keep this short and sweet. I have been a long time Sonos enjoyer and proponent. I bought my first SonosZP100 and speaker back in what must have been early 2005. I expanded my collection to fill the house and constlantly bore my friends with my lyricals. I just sold my last speaker a playbar. You probably won't miss me as a customer. You have loads of happy satisfied customers. When you make a commitment to serving those who use Android and Google Home Assistant services as well as you service Apple and Amazon, I will come back. Until then I am having to live with my principles and a series of Google Homes, Max , Mini and others.
I may have set something up wrong, but really disappointed in the sound from Beam for listening to music. Thought I'd replace a Play 3 in the family room where the TV is with the Beam. Sound from the TV is pretty good on Beam, but not really hearing much separation in limited listening so far. However, sound when playing music is clearly not as good as from my Play 3 in the same room - really feel I'd be taking a step backwards by using Beam for music and now becomes a more expensive sound bar. Is there some different type of setup or designation for music listening vs TV?
Hi, I’ve just realised that one of my of Play:1s isn’t working. No sound or control. I’ve trying unplugging and no white light on boot. I’ve tried the cable and socket of the other play:1 in the pair and nothing. It’s dead. How can I get support from Sonos? It’s years old so out of warranty? Have I any other options but to by a new one? Thanks Darren
I have four Play Ones, two Threes and a connect with a turntable/phono stage linked to it purely to play vinyl on Sonos. One of the Play Ones has an intermittent low beep. It may be one beep or two together and is happening at random times. It happens regardless of whether music is playing. This speaker is part of a stereo pair. The other speaker doesn't make the noise. I have restarted it without success. I do not have any Amazon Alexa products. I say this as the forum only seems to have this sort of query in relation to Sonos Ones with Alexa.
Hi guys. I have a Playbar sub and 2 x play 1 in lounge. And 2 x play 1 in kitchen. Since having all this installed and setup I have noticed my WIFI is a lot slower is this because of the Sonos and if so is it worth getting a Sonos boost to help resolve the issue Thanks in advace
Had the same issue as lots of people trying to get Samsung to link to my new Beam with no luck. Read loads of solutions but finally unplugging everything from the TV except the aerial, switching off everything at the plug, plugged the Beam back into the HDMI Arc and switched the plugs back on. It had a think about it for a minute and then hey presto it worked, the sound suddenly came out the Beam. If in doubt, switch it all off and on again!
Hi all, after just mounting the playbar on the wall under the tv I noticed the sonos book that says "to preserve audio quality, ensure the connector panel faces away from the tv". Does this have to do with the sonos from part being either at the top or the bottom as long as the cords are leaving at the back of the playbar into the wall? Right now I have the cords coming out of the top (optical, ethernet etc) of the playbar which because it is under the tv would mean it is facing TOWARDS the tv (ie the silver part of the unit is at the top ). I did this because it looked better because you could see the cords more when they came from the bottom (AWAY) from the tv. Does this matter much or is it overstated? Don't see how it would make a difference even though it says it on the playbar booklet
When Sonos alarm wakes me, I really really really want to be able to snooze either from an iOS notification or watchOS notification ... .please.
My Beam recognized my TV immediately when the replacement cable was installed
So far I only own the Sonos One. I plan on buying a soundbar, but not sure if I should get the playbar, or the new beam. If I get the beam, I will eventually add two play 1's as rears I think. If i get the playbar, I plan on just having that. This will be for my family room, which is approx 250 square feet. SO my question is which would sound better for both the tv and music? the beam with the play 1 rears, or the playbar? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Sonos Beam, the smart, compact soundbar for your TV is now available. We've collected some of the best resources for Beam in the thread here so that it'll help you find the answers you might be looking for. You can also find good information about Sonos home theater on our Home Theater Megathread. Learn more about Beam on our announcement post here and on the shop at Sonos.com. This thread will help clear up most issues you might see with CEC and HDMI, which Beam uses to send commands to your TV such as “Turn on the TV” and “Turn off the TV.” Beam also follows commands such as “Turn it up” and “Mute,” applying them to the TV volume. See our Beam setup and basics page here or our article on setting up the Beam for more information. To use these commands, Beam must be connected to your TV’s HDMI-ARC input, and your TV needs to have HDMI-CEC enabled. HDMI-CEC is sometimes referred to as: Samsung: Anynet+ LG: SimpLink Sony: Bravia Link Phillips: EasyLink Panasonic: Vie
How do I switch back to TV input after listening to music. Currently I,m having to turn the TV off and back on to resume TV input.
When will Sonos and Spotify work together to remedy this issue? Am able to play any other service fine without interruption. Only Spotify gives, "cannot play track..."
I bought the new beam last month and took delivery yesterday. I have other sonos products and have set up many times. After setting up the beam I was so disappointed when the ARC HDMI did not stay connected and causes a constant switching between TV & external speaker. I spent about 2 hours on the phone with sonos support to no avail. Can anyone help?
Hey guys I have a projector Epson EH-TW5400, and two play:5's, and two play:1's. I am looking to buy the sonos Beam, and use it as the center, and use the two play:1's to create a 5.0 surroundsound setup. The projector will be in the back of the room, and the beam will be in the front of the room. The projector does not support HDMI ARC. I was considering to use the Optoma WHD200 Wireless HDMI system to connect the projector and Beam wirelessly, but since my projector doesn't support HDMI-ARC this doesn't seem to be possible. Alternatively, would it be possible to connect my Chromecast, AppleTV and PS4 to a hometheater receiver, using HDMI-IN, and then using HDMI-OUT from the reciever to send the audio/video signal to two differen't sources, being the Beam, and the projector, or how would I do this ideally? I was thinking with the Beam on the market, there should surely be a way to do this, but I'm probably overlooking the obvious. - I'm not interested in buying a diffe
The new app (Android) is asking me to register my speakers by signing into an account with an email address that is not one I recognize. I have my own Sonos account, but it won't let me sign in with it. What gives?
Hi, Im hoping that the sonos beam will allow me to replace my amplified and traditional speakers. This drawing (https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/12Y8KqqgHE8X2PZT_s-RhgXUTrWUDC8R34FKBGHyx5uA/edit) represents my current setup and what I hope I can achieve with the Beam. Effectively I want to get rid of my amp and pump the sound from any device connected to the TV over HDMI (via a HDMI switch) out to the Beam and the Sonos speakers I already have. Any thoughts on whether this is possible with the beam? thanks in advance.
New to the Sonos world so this is my first purchase to replace an aging Yamaha AV receiver and floorstanders, the wife is happy with the extra space she now has! Bought from John Lewis with the benefit of the 2 year warranty. Very impressed so far, was a breeze to setup. Using HDMI ARC and we can control the volume of the Sky Q box. Alexa works well, we can also replace our Echo Dot in the living room which is handy. Seems to work fairly seamlessly, the downside is I now want the rears and the sub :) Thanks
I have a Pilates studio that offers group, instructor-led classes. I am told that the Shure Mic Fitness Headset Microphone (Shure BLX14/SM31-H9 Wireless System with SM31FH Fitness Headset Microphone, H9) can be set up to play over our Sonos wireless speakers. I am told I may need another part because the Sure Mic needs to plug into something (it has an XLR Mic cable connection). What do I need in order to make this work? Thank you very much!
I've not been successful picking up a Dolby Digital signal through the HDMI ARC link of my TV. By using the HDMI optical adapter and connecting Beam direct to my Sky Q box, I'm now picking up Dolby Digital 2.0. By doing this I lose the ARC functionality but are there any noticeable differences of listening to Dolby Digital 2.0 through my Beam versus stereo? No plans at this stage to add more Sonos to TV set-up.
Hello, Setting up Sonos for the first time and the app says it needs to check for updates before launching. Once pressed it won’t stop ‘checking for updates’, it does it for hours with no changes. We haven’t been able to use the speakers. I’ve updated my phone, uninstalled the app several times and even tried it on a another phone but the same thing happens.
Hi there, just installed my new playbar. When not emitting music / sound (so when it is powered on but idle) the playbar is emitting a high pitch noise. It's just about audible - but as it is so high in pitch it is very annoying and means I have to turn the power off. What can I do.
Hi, Today happened what I dreaded for some time. I was forced to update my Sonos systems and now both my iPad 1 tablets will not work with Sonos anymore. We have them wall-mounted so we can control music all over the place. I am very disappointed to say the least. We had planned to buy some more Sonos systems but the announcement at the beginning of this year stopped us. I hate companies that don't give me control over what is mine. Sonos nor Apple own the gear at my home, I do. Paul
Hello, I just connected my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable and my Pro-Ject Phono Box MM pre-amp to my Sonos Connect (ZP90) and am wondering which line-in level I should use. I read the support article that lists voltages: 2.2V - Level 1 2.0V - Level 2 1.8V - Level 3 1.6V - Level 4 1.4V - Level 5 1.2V - Level 6 1.1V - Level 7 1.0V - Level 8 0.8V - Level 9 0.6V - Level 10 But the problem is that the documented voltage output for my pre-amp doesn't look like the same format as the Sonos documentation. My pre-amps documentation says: "Output voltage typically: 500mV/1kHz at 5mV/1kHz". Can somebody translate that to the listed Sonos voltages for recommended line-in according to their referenced principle of gain staging? Thanks!
