I have just installed a new computer. Moved my music to a new drive. Upon adding the folder to my Sonos controller on the PC I have a "Updating Music Library - Please Wait" message. It's been stuck there for a few hours now. I am on a windows 8.1 desktop computer.
I recently replaced a 5.1 system with a Beam and was a bit underwhelmed. I added two play 1 speakers and the difference is amazing. Both with music and tv, i feel like i am in an envelope of sound. Great clarity at all volume levels. I wish there was a cheaper alternative for a sub. That would be a nice addition
I still have to turn down the volume when watching movies on Netflix at certain parts of the movie. I have a Beam with 2 x Play 1 surrounds. This happens on the Beam with or without the Play 1's as surrounds. When the volume is adjusted so that voices are easily heard, sound effects, explosions, or music in the movie are way too loud. I have to turn down the volume, then turn it back up to hear voices in the next scene. This happens in all sorts of movies, not just action movies. The main reason I bought the beam was to stop having to do this. I have run Trueplay, loudness Off, bass at -2 to -5. Night Sound On and Off. I have tried speech enhancement, but it makes the voices sound funny and doesn't help with the loudness issue. With Night sound on, it improves the loudness of sound effects compared to voices, but not enough. I have submitted a diagnostic, 180293187, if someone would be kind enough to check it and see if my Beam is functioning correctly?
Hi, I have a pair of Play:5s (1st gen) and use them mainly to listen to classical music. While this works well for chamber and solo music, it fails miserably for bigger orchestral pieces like concertos or symphonies. The sound of symphony orchestra is flat, with no low end and everything mixed up together. Timpani are weak and if there are too many brass instruments the sound breaks completely even though I do not listen at high volumes. I have switched to lossless CD quality from MP3 and while there seems to be an improvement here, the general impression remains average. I have the feeling (no science behind this statement) that symphony orchestra provides to many sounds (“channels”) and my poor Play:5s are unable to process all this wealth. So as much as I like Sonos experience I’m disappointed with the sound quality for symphony music – the speakers I have do not seem to be the right choice for the task. But here comes my question: Is there a way to improve here without
Hi All We’re in the process of updating our kitchen/living/diner area and we are installing 6x ceiling mounted speakers (the area is around 80m2). I’m just trying to work out what Sonos equipment I need to achieve the following: • 2 ‘zones’ – 1 zone that will serve 4 ceiling speakers, the other zone will serve 2 ceiling speakers • Zone 1 (TV Zone) – QLED TV with Sonos soundbar & 2x ceiling speakers • Zone 2 (Music Zone) – 1x turntable, PC & Smart devices • The ability to connect the 2 ‘zones’ so the same music can be output across both ‘zones’ I already have 6x Dali Phantom E60 ceiling speakers. The equipment I’m thinking of purchasing is listed below: • 2x New Sonos AMP – Available February • 1x Sonos Playbar • 1x Samsung 65” QLED TV - QE65Q9FNATXXU Can I connect the Sonos Playbar and 2x ceiling speakers directly to AMP1 and then connect the TV to AMP1 via HDMI-ARC? Is that the only I would need between the TV and AMP? With AMP2 I plan to purchase 2-way speaker

A Sonos user would like to have a smaller version of the SUB, in size and power. What do you think about it?
A couple of "hands-on" reviews of the new Beam mention a slight audio lag in the video demos of the product. The demonstrators said it could be addressed by adjusting the controls with the app. In reading more about audio lag and lip sync issues with Sonos soundbars, it seems that the one sure way to eliminate the lag is by switching from Dolby Digital to PCM stereo. If I'm going to use the Beam on its own without a sub or rear speakers, will I lose much by doing this switch? In other words, with this simple set up is PCM stereo enough to provide high quality sound from an Apple TV 4K connected to a TV with the Beam connected to the TV through an HDMI ARC port?
Please provide Trueplay support for Samsung phones, otherwise your company is missing out another 50% potential customers (or existing customers). https://www.idc.com/promo/smartphone-market-share/vendor
My initial setup went fine and the Beam worked as advertised. The setup was temporary while the Pro Wall Set-up was being finished. After mounting the TV, and the Beam along with a DVD Blue Ray the audio playback went from ARC/HDMI to television thru the Beam (and no Dolby & Atmos etc) Sonos App would not resolve to getting a good CEC (Samsung AnyNet) connection. The steps in the following URL worked: https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/enabling-cec-on-your-tv-for-beam-6810049/index1.html#post16251595 resolved the issue. My hunch is the BlueRay was hogging the connection.... Part 2: Yesterday I believed I had solved the issue....today I turned on the television and immediately could tell the sound was not right. Checking the Sonos app the Media Room did not show as active. The television set-up under Room Settings showed no CEC connection. The BlueRay player was connected yesterday and today I have disconnected it in attempt to reset as per above link.
I just wanted to share my findings in this, since I have installed a Sonos system at work where we have a segmented vlan-separated network here, which we have locked down pretty hard. So this is what I have needed to do for opening up for Sonos, and the scenario is the following 4 vlans vlan 3, 4, 5 consists of desktop computers and wireless clients. vlan 6 is a guest network, fully open to internet, but has no regular access to anything else in the office (until now). I put the Sonos players on vlan6, to give them full access to internet. It is behind NAT. From computer/wireless (3-5) networks to vlan6: TCP port 1400 (Sonos control) From vlan 6 TO vlan3-5: TCP port 3400, 3500 (upnp events) UDP port 1900-1905 (upnp discovery returns) Now, the final piece of the puzzle was the multicast used for finding the players. We use a Clavister firewall, which support something they call SAT multiplex rules (other vendors might have similar functionality but call it something different)
Hi Sonos Gurus, When will we have the ability to utilize the Year tag and play albums by year? Regards Gerald
Hi I currently own 2 x ones and plan to purchase a play 5 in the near future. Holding back right now as I find it rather large. Does anyone know if Sonos intend to bring out a gen 2 Play 3 anytime soon? I think the size would be perfect
Sometimes I'm just listening to music, reading a book or surfing the web, and completely forget what time it is. I wish Sonos would lower the music volume and tell me "It's 11PM". That alert could be manually set up, or come from outlook/google calendar, or even come from Google Now/Siri/Cortana
Since upgrading to 9.2 the Sonos app doesn't stay running in the background anymore. Up to 9.2 it has always been there in the notification bar and on the lockscreen, now I have to manually start the app every time I need to do anything with it. It's also a pain in the ass every morning when I want to shut the alarm off. Very frustrating. Anyone knows what has happened?
I am looking to play netflix on my Macbook Pro and listen to the show through the SONOS ONE speaker. Now it doesn't have to be wirelessly, Can I direct connect the LAN network cable into the usb network adapter or lightening adapter into the MBP then into the back of the SONOS ONE and listen to the audio vs using the MBP internal speakers. Seems to be a very expensive speaker with such an antiquated bottle neck forcing the user to NEEDING the SONOS app to use this speaker. I dont ,understand the target audience whom would stricly purchase a speaker and be extremely limited on its use case to only web base radio stations... I wonder if there is a royality or channel direction traffic profits they are gaining by limiting this functionality... For those whom reply with its not ment for that, please tell me then the purpose of limiting the mindset of networking the unit to only radio station web codecs and such vs being able to plant this unit and a few others, turn on HBOGO, yo
Airplay 2 disappears frequently and have to reboot to get it back. Can't connect to new wifi. So I did a factory reset according to the forum. Ask Alexa to play spotify. She said "the device is offline" Reset Alexa. Ask again. "hmm. add skill and ask me to find the device." Seriously? Such a rubbish product.
When a Beam is connected via HDMI arc, how should a PS4 be configured to output surround sound for Blu Ray playback? I can't get an option to output bitstream(mix) on the PS4 Blu Ray app.
Hi Finally decided to order a sonos one but want to get a stand at the same time so its not likely to get damaged Does anyone have any opinions on the flexson vs the sanus stand for the sonus one? What ive read so far seems to suggest that neither are that secure and knowing how clumsy me and the cat are i dont want to risk anything but the best
Sound cuts in and out when playing turntable through Sonos. Have tried changing wireless channel which seems to help temporarily but the problem starts again. Submitted diagnostic. Number 745554617.
According to my app, I'm on version 10.0 and every time I close it just doesn't close for a minute or so before finally crashing.
I’ve tried all the suggestions in here, turned the Dolby off, my tv speakers are off. Switched to PCM. I had to reset the factory settings on my Visio because every time I’d turn TV Speakers to Off, it would automatically switch back to on. I thought this might have something to do with the Fire Stick, but resetting the tv fixed that problem. Ive gone to Browse on the Sonos app and have selected tv, but there is no audio coming out of the Beam when on Fire Stick.
Hi, I am trying to determine on a Beam vs Playbar for my space. Not sure on if my room is small, medium or large. I have attached a pic of my space. As you can see it is open concept with the kitchen and dining area (where I am standing for the pic). The TV is now a new 65" TCL. I will also probably do a pair of Play:1 behind the couch for surround. Thanks!
I recently purchased the Sonos Beam and connected it to my Insignia NS-48d510na15 via Optical input and have had issues with the audio cutting out often throughout the course of a one hour show. I tried connecting via the HDMI-ARC as well and am still having issues with the audio cutting out. In addition I have noticed the sound volume getting louder and quieter while switching shows from time to time (this is the least of my worries right now, but thought would try and document all the current issues). I recently tried playing music through the speakers via airplay and Sonos app and do not notice the sound cutting out, but its harder to tell with music than while watching a show. Lastly, I have tried cleaning the optical cable on the connector side, but not the TV side, I plan on trying that next week when i get the proper tools. Is there any other reasons I may be having issues? Please help. Thank you!
