Just got myself a Beam to go with my two Play 1s as rears.I think I have it working ok apart from the fact that when I select a 5.1 stream from the Netflix app on my Shield there is no sound. If I select an ordinary stream it plays fine.Any idea what I need to do.?Connections are via hdmi.
I read that I can combine 2 Play:1 as a stereo pair. If I had 4 Play:1 can I create 4 stereo pairs, meaning each Play:1 appears in 2 stereo pairs? Or can each speaker just be part of a single configuration? Can I add the same sub to each of these 4 configurations? Probably I later choose to by a playbase and want to combine it with the sub and 2 Play:1 to a 5.1 system. Is this possible while retaining the stereo configurations? BR. - nieroster
Hsa anyone ever bought sonos item from this website? The prices seem awful low..don't know if they are fake overseas copies or what. Any thoughts are appreciated
Last Black Friday I bought the Best Buy Connect:Amp + Sonance Outdoor Speaker bundle. Like many, I would like to watch tv/movies in addition to listening to music outdoors. I know the new Amp handles this specifically. And I realize that the Connect:Amp is not well suited to receive audio from a TV (no HDMI in, just two RCA in jacks) and those who have tried experience a lag, however I’m wondering if anyone has tried something like this HDMI to HDMI + Audio (SPDIF + RCA Stereo) Audio Extractor Converter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BIQER0E/ I’m thinking of sticking a Fire Stick or running an HDMI from my laptop into it, and splitting the video to HDMI to an outdoor monitor or projector and the audio to RCA into the Connect:AMP (outdoor speakers). Thank you in advance for your help.
Long time lurker (thanks for all of the random help over the years), first time poster here. I've had a Sonos system for quite some time, and have both a 3.1 setup using the Playbar, and a 5.0 setup using the Beam. My Playbar and sub are connected to my 'main' living room television, a Sony XBR900E (65 inch) via optical. The Beam and 2 satellite Play 1s are connected to a TCL 6 Series in my basement via HDMI. I've also got various other Sonos speakers throughout my house, so I'm familiar and comfortable with the system. A few other setup related notes: - Verizon FiOS, gigabit service, no cable or satellite for TV (all apps/internet) - Sony TV is set to output Dolby Digital - Sony TV also has an Xbox One, Fire TV, Apple TV 4K, and Nintendo Switch hooked up to it, all via HDMI - Apple TV 4K is also set to output Dolby Digital at all times - No special settings for the Beam/TCL TV, aside from turning on CEC controls My issue is as follows: - When using the Sony TV/Playbar
Just simply introducing myself to the community. I was a Bose Soundtouch user up until a couple of months ago. The Bose system was simply unstable. Constant reconnecting speakers, bluetooth sync delays, and their going to another platform altogether was the last straw, so sold everything on ebay and bought a 5.1 Sonos (Beam, sub, (2) play 1's) for our vacation house, and a beam, sub, (2) 1's, and (2) 5's for our main house, as well as a Connect for my home theater system in the basement. Everything works great and I have been really happy with this over the Bose Soundtouch. I would say the sound is comparable between both products, however, I think Sonos does better with mid frequencies and overall sounds "fuller" compared to Bose, at least as it relates to music.
I am pleased to announce a huge update to my Alexa skill for Sonos, "My Speaker". It allows you to do many things that the standard Sonos skill does not, such as playing your local Library, or Favorites, or Playlists, or services including Apple Music. It also allows access to normal Sonos groups (you can add and remove speakers by voice), and play things Everywhere. it does require a companion app (now available for iOS as well as Windows), and is only compatible with US Amazon accounts (not my fault). Setup is simple: no need to change the names of any speakers or anything, just say "Alexa, open My Speaker", login using your Sonos account, then install and run the companion app. If you have any support questions please PM or email me, this forum is NOT the place for support questions for my skill.
So I have hooked up the new Amp and given it a thorough listening. I am impressed. My prior setup was B&W 683 Floorstanders into a Audiolabs MDAC Pre/DAC to a Bryston 3B-ST Amp. My streamer of choice was a RPi3B+ running PiCorePlayer and the Squeezelite software attached via USB to the MDAC. I was a longtime Spotify user but I recently switched to using Apple Music while my wife still uses Spotify. Spotify had a squeezebox plugin so it worked well (though the Spotify Connect implementation was flaky at times). I also have over 1000 CDs ripped to ALAC on a home server. This was a great sounding setup but I found the airplay unreliable and no native Apple Music support (other than airplay) with Squeezebox so I have been looking at other options. Since native apple music support is limited to Sonos, it was an easy choice, I just had to choose what to get. I considered just getting the Connect and adding it into the existing system via optical to the DAC but decided to ta
Hi All, I’m planning on building a carbon copy of the below false wall to house a fireplace & 65” tv. The beam needs to fit somewhere onto / into this and I therefore have a few options for the placement of my beam which form the centre of my 5.1 set up. 1) Beam attached to wall above fire but below tv – not preferred as I don’t particularly want anything ‘sticking out’ of the wall. Also unsure of how much heat will be rising up from the fire so probably not practical anyway 2) Beam placed into its own small recess – problem then being that the side firing speakers will be slightly obstructed unless the recess is made larger which may then look not quite right 3) TV recess extended downwards slightly to accommodate the beam under the TV; shouldn’t have any issues with obstructing the side firing speakers then. Just wondered if anyone has anything similar and what options / advice can be offered. I’ll only get one shot at building it so want to get it right first time! Tha
Hey everyone, I am currently getting my house built and I am having it wired up for 1 set of in-wall, 2 sets of in-ceiling, and 1 set of outdoor speakers. My question is, how many Sonos amps should I run? Also with this set up could I run my playbar as a center channel?
Well, it's been 6 years and was already looking forward to the ceiling speakers, something I had been waiting for a loong time. I would have gotten a Beam if it hadn't had a listening device on it. I never minded the software glitches, since it happens and as long as they are worked out eventually, then it's cool. But your last trick is definitely the sign that Sonos has become the kind of shady company a customer wants to avoid. I updated the Sonos controller on my phone and guess what? I can no longer use the Sonos product unless I update my OPERATING SYSTEM (ie if I replace my phone). Basically, Sonos is telling me that I am not good enough to use the product that I BOUGHT. Just go buy a new phone you poor bastard. Well talk about a totally unnecessary move. The product worked fine 5 minutes ago and if I miss on the updates then too bad, but DISABLING the product? I don't have enough F words to throw at you for such a move. Sorry Sonos, but if you think you're too good for me
This update is crap. HELP
don't install if you still want to use third party apps like python-soco or home-assistant
Hi, I currently have a very nice 2.1 receiver with 2 paradigm stereo speakers and a powered subwoofer. My problem is listening to movies the dialogue gets lost when listening at lower volumes. I'm thinking of incorporating a Sonos Beam as a center channel by adding hooking up my normal stereo to a Sonos Connect and throwing a beam under my TV. Anybody have any thoughts on opinions on whether this will solve my problem. I also wondering if you can actually configure or tell sonos the the beam is supposed to be a center channel in a configuration like this, or if that even matters. And just to clarify, it doesn't have to act as a center in the pure definition sense of a 5.1 surround, the main goal is to get more clarity in the dialogue.
I want to replace my Sonos system
Sooooooo frustrated. I run a Mac on an OS older than 10.11. I control Sonos from it and am constantly adjusting music, pausing, etc. throughout my work day. I can NOT upgrade the OS on the Mac without a humongous hassle because of app compatibility for various other apps I run on the Mac. I just accepted the latest Sonos controller update from my iphone because I was prompted and now of course the desktop controller won't work, because I understand that Sonos Software 10.1 requires Mac OS 10.11. So am I just stuck? Is there absolutely no way to control Sonos from my Mac other than upgrading its OS? Are there any workarounds at all to get me control back. Or am I really stuck either upgrading the Mac OS or using my phone only to control the music? If I DO have to only use my phone (because I am NOT upgrading my Mac OS), are there any tricks for fast easy access to the Sonos controller on it. For example, if I am listening to music and the iphone actually rings, how can
I have found the new updated controller to be extremely difficult to use. I.e switching room to room, locating playlists in pandora, changing volume in 1 zone, switching stations from pandora to spotify, searching for old pandora stations, searching for new pandora stations, downloading spotify stations to listen to later offline. I could go on but it wouldnt solve the problem. The last ios based controller was extremely user friendly. Very simple and quick to find all the settings. It was highly intuitive. I dont find any of these to be true on the latest update. Is there any way to revert back to the simplified interface? If not would it be possible to have a future uodate that can bring back many of the easier to use functions? Its so annoying and difficult to use that were discussing getting rid of sonos and going back to our old setup.
Hello I’m having difficulty with my sonos set up I have the beam subsnd two sonos ones +the boost I bought the boost to try to resolve audio drop out from tv It hasn’t worked My tv is LG E7 oled The beam is connected via arc hdmi And tv settings is on hdmi /optical out Setting the sound out is set to pcm as the Dolby atmos is unsupported As the beam drops out frequently I bought the noisy thinking it would help it has not As soon as the beam drops out I’m constantly having to switch sound settings on tv back to hdmi /optical pit because it reverts automatically to internal tv speaker I’m at a loss how to solve this any help with my problem il be grateful to receive Many thanks
Could we please add the ability to adjust the IR repeater to on when in wall mount mode. Newer cable boxes are becoming smaller and smaller allowing mounting of the unit behind the TV. With the PLAYBAR mounted below having the ability to use the IR repeater at this time would be a huge advantage to a cleaner look for the end user.
I had a full sonos system all around the house as my surround sound for 2 TVs. My bridge died and I was forced to move to a boost with its own WiFi well that doesn’t work on the square footage of my house to my investment in sonos is worthless thanks
So got my 5.1 system yesterday with the Sonos Beam. It appears it completely takes over the TV audio. I assumed that I would be able to choose when I wanted to use the Beam. You know for movies and things of that nature but would rather just use the TV speakers for causal listening. However it only seems to have audio with the Beam even when I use the Sony tv remote to change the setting to TV speakers it still outputs through the Beam. This means everything I watch will have the sub and surrounds on as well even though they may not be outputting anything. Any easy way for me to configure when and when not to have the Beam active?
We got a new sofa table built, and have placed the Sonos Play 1's I have as our surround sound speakers paired with the Sonos Beam. However, as you can see we have the wire as an issue. We wanted to buy some base to pull the wire through the front of the speaker, but we are also open to ideas on how to manage the wire. Any ideas? We don't want to drill anything to the table incase we want to use the table later for another room.
Brand new to Sonos, don't own anything of the brand yet. My wife doesn't do streaming, we have ~300 CDs, and she wants a CD Changer/Carousel. We just moved, so I have to rebuild the audio system. Good news is that they still make CD carousels. But I don't really want to invest in another old-school audio system...I'd like to integrate the CD carousel into a Sonos system. What is the best approach? Will a Connect work for this? Or do I need a Connect: Amp? If I want stereo, are two Sonos Ones a good start? thanks for sharing your expertise!
I currently have a pair of CM6 S2s on a Mcintosh c32 and MC2205 with connect. Unfortunately both pieces need to be serviced again (ribbons, caps, ect) and im looking for something with a less upkeep. I love the way the current system sound and was wondering if anyone knows if the new Sonos Amp with the CM6 speakers will sound similar to what iv been listening to. Would 2 play 5s be a significant downgrade or should i give them a go over the amp?
We just moved to a new house, and I can't find a configuration to stream music to Sonos from my NAS. Old farmhouse, thick wall, etc, the usual problems. Currently, almost the only electric gadgets connected are Sonos and the Wifi (an Orbi Mesh system, base with 4 satellites), so not much interference possible. Sonos is on Channel 1, the wireless on 11. The the LAN connection between the two is from one of the Orbi Satellites to a Sonos Bridge, and the NAS connects physically to the same Orbi. (To minimize distance over the air.) Spotify generally plays fine, NAS gets the above message - sometimes every 10 songs, sometimes all the time. My music on the NAS is almost all in FLAC. The diagnostic is 2104916441. I had the music only playing in one room on purpose (thought it might be a grouping issue). Thanks in advance Chris
