We really enjoying playing our TV through the Sonos sound bar/base and grouping in other Rooms so that we can hear what's happening on the TV while wondering the house - especially the kitchen. We'd like a way to "lock" a Group's volume levels together to behave like a master level, keeping them relative to one another and being able to bring them all up/down when using the TV remote or adjusting the volume on any of the Grouped Sonos speakers. Currently, when I use the TV remote to bring the Playbase volume down the Play5 speaker in the kitchen keeps blaring away making it impossible to talk between rooms. Conversely, while in the kitchen, I'd like the volume button on the TV Grouped Play5 to behave like a master volume slider again so I can lower the entire zone to make it possible to talk to family in the other room. The only way today I know to do this now is to open the app on my phone which is really inconvenient especially as I roam the house. So not sure if there i
I have had a sonos setup for years. Today I get a message on my controller telling me to “finish setting up my sonos account” to CONTINUE using my system. Help me understand why I paid thousands for this system, spent a large number of hours dealing with issues (setup and otherwise) only to be told I HAVE to log into the sonos servers to keep using my system. I’m not updating until I get clarity.
Just purchased Playbar and Panasonic tcp65st60. Cannot disable tv's internal speakers. Volume adjustments on remote affect tv speakers. Frustated because I like the sound produced by the Playbar. Any suggestions? Thank you.
I just talked to support about how we can not set up a Sonos using a desktop application anymore. Why was this decision made? It seriously handicaps our ability to deploy systems to our customers. We deal with commercial customers who do not have wireless access to the networks that sonos is on, as well as residential customers with vlans separating the WIFI from the audio/video devices. Most of our customers will never even use the mobile sonos app as they will be operating their A/V systems from Crestron touch panels. Combined with the inability to set static addresses, sonos just continues to indicate that they don't want the business of the commercial and high end integrator. If sonos only wants to be selling to end users then that's fine otherwise they need to stop making things more difficult for integrator.
I allways browse by artist and then their albums in ordor of when they came out. Suddenly I have to scroll down a couple of hunderd albums because every album the artist appears on is shown by release date aswell. Can you please revert to the previous way of album listing when the appear on albums where below the original artist releases? It is verry anoying and i have had to swich to the spotify app, I prefere the sonos app but I am not going to scroll through a list of hunderds of albums for that one I wanted but couldnt remember the name of.
I was thinking about buying an amp(newest model) and 2 sonos ones. But my question is if I can build a 4.1 system. Using the amp and 2 passive speakers as the front speakers and the sonos ones as the rear speakers. Will this work?
I have my Sonos controller on several iOS devices but after the most recent Sonos update I cannot start the Sonos Controller on my iPad with iOS 9.3.5. (it's an older iPad and iOS 9.3.5 is the most recent iOS for that device). I can start Sonos controller on my iPhone iOS 11.0.3 and then the iPad with iOS 9.3.5. picks that up and I can then continue to use the iPad with Sonos controller to choose music and so on. Not a huge thing and I have a work around but something is not working as it should, the Sonos 8.1 Software release notes say iOS 9 and higher. Can you let me know how to fix the problem?
Not ideal but after Trueplay tuning it really fills the whole area with sound & the 5.1 really shines.
ENHANCED PLAYLIST MANAGEMENT SUGGESTION: Provide a means to better manage user generated playlists. Functions such as sorting, duplicate finding, copying and merging user created playlists would be of real value. Maybe even provide a way to do this organization and editing without having to have a playlist in use. Just combining two playlists and identifying duplicates would be very helpful when assembling and updating a list of favorite songs for a particular listener, event, artist or genre.
Hello, I just bought a Sonos Connect (July 14, 2019) to connect to my Marantz SR6011 Receiver. It works fine from a functional perspective. However, the sound quality is not very good. It lacks the richness and quality that I would expect. I'm using high quality and expensive Bowers and Wilkens speakers so it has nothing to do with my system. I used optical output from the Sonos Connect and attached it to the TV/Audio optical input of the receiver. There's a CD optical input on the receiver as well, but I would imagine there's no difference in quality. I updated the SW on the Sonos. Please provide any advice or is this the best that Sonos could do? Thank you in advance for any guidance or words of wisdom.
Has anyone had an issue of the L bracket on the Sanus Mount WSSBM1-B2 blocking the Beam’s IR sensor? When I attach the Sonos Beam to the L bracket using the 2 supplied screws, the Remote control does not communicate with the Beam b/c the metal plate covers the bottom of the IR sensor. The only way I can get it to work is to remove one screw and rotate the Beam on the bracket 15 degrees so that the bottom of the Beam’s IR sensor is exposed. It looks goofy but at least the remote works. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem and was able to come up with any better solutions.
Hi there. I'm about to buy my first Sonos speakers and am wondering about the best setup for my L-shaped living/kitchen area. It's not a huge space so I don't want to go overboard, but still want the best sound possible for up to around EUR 1.000. I have Amazon Echo already so don't need integrated Alexa. If possible, I'd like to hook it up to the TV too. I was thinking about: i) One Play 5 ii) Two Play 3s (set up in stereo for the living, area) plus a Play 1 for the kitchen area iii) One sub plus three Play 1s; two set up in stereo in the living area and the third one for the kitchen area Which option is better ? Or is there a different, better configuration that I've not considered ? Thanks so much for your comments.
My paired Play 5's and sub have a good sound but the small drivers need assistance of tone controls or loudness filter when listening at contrasting volumes. When raising Play 5's volume from around 40/50% to higher, the bass treble boost feels too much, I got the impression that it is either on of off. Navigating multiple menus to manually switch off the loudness filter is awkward. There have been earlier posts with people stating that it is variable relative to volume. Approx 6 months before this post, I presented this as a question, to which a Sonos rep stated that loudness is not dynamic, they offered to forward the suggestion of linking loudness and volume to development. I searched for info on how Sonos crossovers etc work but found very little. Before I get the SPL meter and test tones out, can anyone can provide some juicy links to independent tests which demonstrate any differences at various volumes and filter settings?
Wife is about to kill me, so so let's try my question again, because i didn't phrase it correctly the first time round :) I don't think i can be the only one here who loved the concept of SONOS 5.1 (1 playbar, 1 sub, 2 ancillaries). I use, like many others, MKVs with ac3 or DTS as my main source of entertainment. (or more to the point, my wife does :D) So, if you assume that: - I do not wish to sell my sonos setup - I do not wish to sell my tv (LG OLED65B7V) - I am *very happy* to source any hardware to create a compatible source What should I do in order to get the rear speakers to ever work? Whatever I tried, i always end up with the sonos app telling me i'm pushing 'stereo' to it, even though Im clearly not. I tried: - Kodi on shield set to 'passthrough' - set to 'ac3' (only, with dts compatible decoder disabled, as its my understanding that sonos doesn't support dts) - etc So, clearly, it's 'not working'. QUESTION: How many of you have been able to enjo
My older Samsung UN65H7150 tv randomly drops audio to my 5.1 Playbar, Sub & 2 Ones via optical out. My Setup: TV: Samsung UN65H7150 Media Player: Nvidia Shield TV via Arc HDMI I tried an HDMI Extractor from Best Buy (Insignia- NS-HZ340) but could not get audio from the HDMI ports to the extractor. I had to connect the extractor from the Nvidia Shield TV then grab the optical from there but I feel like the sound quality doesn't sound as good as when i'm connected directly to the tv's optical. Spent hours reading through the forums here & haven't found a good solution. Any help is appreciated.
I am in the process of reviewing and purchasing a whole home mesh Wifi system. What does/doesn’t work with Sonos? Anyone have a suggestion or successful install?
Been starting to see more post about Mesh Wifi system. Google wifi, Netgear Orbi, Asus Lyra, Linksys Velop, TP Link Deco , Samsung Home Connect, and D Link Covr just name a few. They all make the home wifi work way better in most cases, by getting rid of dead zone. And greatly increase the coverage area, especially helpful to large homes. But as I read more on sonos forums, that there are issue at times with the new systems and Sonos. And most of the Mesh wifi kits out there seem to have talking away a lot of useful feature found on a traditional router. Except for D-Link and Asus, you seem really limited to 1 ethernet port on the main puck/unit. And as I have been informed recently sonos works best if it is connected to the main unit with google wifi. So the question is, minus the D-Link and Asus options. Is the lost of some router configuration option ie dual wan ability, lost of USB support and lost of multiple ethernet port in one location, a fair trade off for the i
I've updated my Crestron TSW-760 to the latest firmware (1.002.0016.001) and when I launch the native Sonos app, it wants to check for updates. On the attached screen, I tap "update" and nothing happens.
Beyond frustrated. Tired of calling support, them changing random things and assuring me that it will "work much better now." I can never just open Sonos and play music from my library. Not once. But the solution is never the same! Sometimes resetting the router works, sometimes restarting the software works. Every time I want to turn it on that means 30 minutes of troubleshooting, and half the time I can't fix it and give up. And then it will fix itself and randomly turn itself on 30 minutes later and scare the sh*t out of me (but the software still says it can't connect so all you can do is pull the plug on the speaker). Controller is a PC (sony vaio), connected to wi-fi and plugged into a hard line. Music I want to play is in my library. Have a Sonos Amp and a Play3. There are a couple other things on my wi-fi (2 android phones and an ipad). No major sources of wi-fi interference. Fast internet. Most common error is something like "Cannot clear the queue" or "cannot play song"
First, let me preface by saying, I'm a huge fan of Sonos and Sonance products and have accumulated more of these speakers than I'm willing to admit. I was really excited to hear that Sonos partnered with Sonance to design an outdoor speaker but I'm a bit confused. My intention is not to come off confrontational when I ask this but what's the difference between the new Sonos/Sonance Outdoor Speaker and the original Sonance Mariner 64? They appear to be the exact same speaker with the exact same specs. Is there added hardware which makes it a more Sonos centric product? My understanding is the new Amp identifies these speakers by sending a sine wave to read impedance values at different frequencies so that indicates to me there might not be anything unique about the new Outdoor speaker besides marketing and branding. How does the Amp differentiate between the new Sonos/Sonance Outdoor speaker and an original Sonance Mariner 64? As a loyal customer I need to understand what the advantage
Need someone to validate this setup if possible! I currently have a Sonos Beam (connected to a TV by HDMI arc) and a pair of bluetooth headphones i love. I've been gifted some records - and i'd like to integrate a record player into my setup. My plan: Buy a record player. Connect to a phono preamp (if one isn't already in the record player) Connect that to a Sonos Connect (so the record player can be played through the Beam) Connect a bluetooth transmitter to the Sonos Connect (so i can choose to listen on my headphones instead of the Beam) Will that work? Can i sync the Sonos Connect with the Beam AND connect a bluetooth transmitter? is there a better approach?
I wonder when the update for, the support of Google Assistant, the Danish version is up to go, at the date.
My new tv comes with a list of speaker companies that it pairs with why is sonos not on the list? And what code can I use to program my universal remote manualy?
Hi guys ! I've just ordered a White Beam but I'm a bit concerned about the mesh durability/staining over time, especially after I saw it in the showroom (the sides were really dirty/greyish) but I understand this is not the best environment for it. Are you concerned as well and do you experience stains on your Beam ? How do you/did you clean it ? Do you recommend going for the white or black version to avoid staining and have the best durability ? Here is attached a picture of actual set-up if needed (also we have a cat). Thanks !
Hey, I have a Play 5 connected to my Pro-ject essential III Phono. The problem I now have is that I cant listen music with my headphone. What is the cheapest solution to be able to listen music via headphone? Its a Audio-Technica wired headphone, so no bluetooth. is it possible to use a headphone amplifier and put it in between my turntable and play 5? Will that make it possible to listen my lp's via the headphone?
