We have a gen 1 ZonePlayer 5 (Play5). We have not used it for several years as a result of moving. I’m trying to set it up now, but it’s not connecting to the app (iphone or macbook). We do not have any other Sonos products. I have tried with the Play5 wired to the router (which is also the modem - VIsionNet Model M505+). I did a factory reset on the speaker, and the light just flashes green. My iphone and macbook are connected to the same wireless network. I’ve followed all the advice I can find online, but nothing works. Please help!
Sorry, this turned into an essay but I wanted to get everything covered. Some background -I have an issue in that I live in a large(ish) concrete block of apartments in the business centre of large city and our flat is over three floors. The block is put together like an Escher painting so most rooms are surrounded on 2 or 3 sides but somebody else's apartment. One floor is one on side of the block and the other two are on the opposite side. The top floor is the master bedroom suite and this is where we having most issues. Our current Sonos system is throughout the flat. We have 6 Play:1s (alls in a pairs), a pair of Ones (Gen 1), a port and an AMP (upgraded as part of the deal that Sonos offered from older generations. i’m currently running S2 and it’s automatically updating currently to 12.2.1 according to the app) As you can imagine the interference is a nightmare both from the neighbours but also from the surrounding public wifi services and it would fairly standard to see 12 oth
I am going to buy either a Move or a Five as my first Sonos speaker. but eventually plan on having several. It appears that both will allow me to set up my Dot or Mini with my Spotify account so that I can just say to the Dot or Mini play x and the music will come from my Sonos speaker (i.e., the Sonos will be my default speaker). Am I correct in this?I also would like the Dot or Mini to respond through my Sonos speaker for all responses. For example, if I ask what the temperature is, it would respond through the Sonos speaker. It appears neither the Dot nor the Mini will do that, but it is hard to be sure from reading/viewing reviews. Will all responses for the Dot or Mini be able to come from the Sonos speaker?Given those criteria which would do what I want, the Dot or the Mini? Am I correct in assuming that both the Move and the Five would work the same via WiFi?
Does anyone have an opinion on why I should upgrade my current Play:5 (Gen 2) speakers to the current Sonos Five?
With an update today (now version 12.2 - build 61182310) the Mac desktop app has lost a lot of shortcuts that used to be present if you right clicked the Dock icon - like Mute/Play/Stop. They were really useful to not have to find the app itself when you needed a quick action. Are they missing because of a bug or a deliberate choice to reduce functionality?
I just received and opened my Sonos Arc and noticed that there is a masking tape on the right side of the speaker that’s tucked in the speaker cover. I pulled the tape and some of it is still left in the between the speaker cover. Is this normal? Is there a way to open the side cover to remove the tape.
My Sonos system worked perfectly with Google Play but I have recently had to transfer to You Tube Music. My library appears for albums & artists but the Songs section just gives an error message and is empty. I want to be able to shuffle my library but can’t without Songs
First, what is NAS? Should I buy NAS or another external drive? I am currently using my music library on my Mac which is 11 years old.Latelyu II’ve been having issues with Sonos not able to see my Library (on my Mac). Or it wont update the most recent music I’ve added to my Mac Music Library. I currently have 2 external drive hooked to the Mac. 500G and 1TB. I am about to purchase a PC. Yes I am going back to a PC instead of buying another Mac. I only use the computer for photos & music (to play on my Sonos). So I dont need to spend the $$$ on a new Mac. PC should be okay for photos and music. So when I get my new PC (iBuyPower PC) I want to buy a 3 or 4TB external drive (for music/photos). Can I have Sonos play my music files from both PC and external drive or NAS?
I have a system with one connect and three connect:amps, no sound plays from the connect. I have them grouped, with audio coming via line-in on one of the units. Which unit the line in is hooked up to (connect or one of the connect:Amps) has no effect on the problem. The connect line out is hooked up to a receiver. I’ve hooked another source up to the receiver’s line in and it plays fine. If I have the line in hooked up to the connect, all units grouped, I get sound out of the connect:amps but nothing seems to be coming from the connect line out. The Sonos app shows them all playing and volume is turned up. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong with this setup? Thanks!!
I want to add 2 of my play1 to my playbar and sub. I can see my 2 sets of play1 and when I try to make the setup I just get a message that I should check that the speakers is turned on and is in the same WiFi system.. what to do? I have rebooted both the router and all speakers.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I’m fed up with updating most times I want to listen to a song, I have to update/ log In/ do some *** which stops me from just listening to a tune, I’ve spent a fair amount of cash on Sonos as I love how it sounds, however, if you could just make it so it just works until I decide to update, etc, it would be ace, say I get home from a do/night out, I don’t want to have to log in, update, subscribe, whatever… I just want to put some tunes on. Why oh why shouldn’t this be easy, please oh please focus on the music, not the politics of the Sonos brand, that’s why I love ya, not the feedback generation. *Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the community guidelines.*
Hey guys does anybody have a Sonos optical adaptor they don’t need ? Or sell ? I’m in need of one so my Xbox series x will play sound through my Sonos sound system , unfortunately the new Xbox have got rid of the optical connections , can anyone help me please
hi, i need some help please. i have a PlayBar, Sub and 2 Play 1’s connected to my Panasonc TV (last of the Plasma’s). i haven’t used the surround function for some time, now i can’t get them to play what is oon the TV, Play Bar works fine. i have removed them and reconnected, but still no joy. i have been scouring the forum and closest I could get was a suggestion that TV output needs to be Dolby, mine only has option of stereo, no Dolby. I don’t understand why they used to work fine but no longer do.
È possibile duplicare il surround posteriore aggiungendo altri 2 prodotti nel mio caso ho già 2 play 5 con altri 2 play 5 casomai tramite aux visto che tramite l app non è possibile? Qualcuno ci ha provato?
I have 2 sonos play 1, a beam sound bar, and recently purchased an amp to connect my turntable to my current system. How do I connect my turntable/amp to my existing sonos speakers and play bar?
So here is what I have and I am having a heck of time getting this to work the way I want - So I am remodeling my home and I am retiring my focal 9xx speakers. I wanted wireless - here is what I have - xboxps4appletvfiretv directvall connecting to a AVR Dennon the connecting to a Plasma with ARC. What I was hoping to do was connect Sonos up to ARC of rcv’er then take hdmi out to TV, therefore letting sonos drive sound.. I was using HDMI cables for all this.. NOT working yes I understand the rcv’er now is nothing more than a hdmi switch.. Here is the bigger problem - rcv’er and all connecting to it live in the basement while tv lives upstairs… So what am i missing???
Hello I am thinking of getting the new Sonos amp to get the sound from my main tv Sky, Dvd etc coming through my main amplifier which are in different roomsI currently just use a old Sonos Connect wired to my main Cambridge Audio CXA81 amplifier, Nas Drive and router which are all together in the room next door, this new Sonos amp would just be connected to my TV in the other room but be wirelessly linked to the old connect Can I please ask? Would the new Sonos Amp need to be connected to my router via Ethernet cable or just Wi-Fi as this is not in the same room as the Cambridge amp? If it does work How would I get the tv sound through the Cambridge amp, by grouping it to one of the rooms which I already have on the connect linked to my Cambridge or buy using line in function on the Sonos app ? Would the new Sonos Amp be classed as its own room or zone and would I then then be able to use it as my main player for my entire music library including hi-res files the connect does not sup
Is it normal for Sonos users to need to go to the audio settings in Apple TV and turn on change format to Dolby Digital 5.1 in order to get 5.1 audio to a Sonos system? I have two Sonos setups: Amp and my own speakers, and another with Beam. I have an Apple TV 4k (latest gen) but when playing 5.1 content (netflix and plex) both systems only get stereo audio, unless I turn on change format by going to Settings > Video and Audio > Audio Format and turn on Change Format and then choose Dolby Digital 5.1 routerloginJust curious why this? So far I am not seeing an audio delay, which is great, but curious why I end up in stereo unless I force it, is is the Sonos system not hand routerlogin ling this or is it my Apple TV not understanding Sonos?issue solved!!
Will the Sonos beam work with my HDTV which has an optical input and can I stream music from Spotify that will play on the beam as well as my series 3 Sonos?
Just installed new Beam after having play5 for 8 yrs, the sound quality is only as good as the tv speakers. I removed all my P5 stuff installed S2 app and started from scratch trying all settings on tv and beam but still as bad, any ideas. Tia. Mc
I am looking for guidance on how to connect my 1byone Turntable to my Sonos 5.1 system. My sonos consist of 2 Sonos One SLs, One Beam, One 3rd Gen Sub. Here is a link to the vinyl player: https://1byone.com/1byone-bluetooth-turntable-hi-fi-system-with-36-watt-bookshelf-speakers-vinyl-record-player-with-magnetic-cartridge.htmlThe turntable comes with 2, 18W passive bookshelf speakers that I would like to keep (they look pretty). It also has an AUX output (RCA) is on the back of the turntable as well. What would be the best way to connect this to my sonos system with keeping the two bookshelf speakers? Amp or Port?
I have a client with a macintosh receiver MA6200 and a ELAN preamp controller for six zones with B&W speakers, but he has to walk between rooms when he wants to up / down the volume or change the music, etc.So he is asking me for a solution that allows him to manipulate volume, source and zone selection from any room of his house, of course he loves his macintouch a nd does not want to change it.1.-Do you have any ideas on how can I resolve this request wit SONOS AMP or SONOS PORT.2.- Is there a way to use the same set of speakers for the Macintosh and SONOS AMP, so I can give him the option to use his old system or SONOS.(he said SONOS does not handle the same sound quality)Thank you in advance
Hi all, which tv is most compatible with dolby atmos and the passthrough to the sonos arc. i now have a Samsung ue55f6670 and this one isn’t able to passtrough a 5.1 signal from another device. Atmos? Haha no that eighter..only the internal netflix app will give a 5.1 signal to the Arc(thats the highest quality that it can do). I spoke to Samsung's technical department and they indicate that there is no guarantee that Netflix will transmit the atmos signal on Samsung TVs. there are not the correct agreements between Samsung and Netflix for this. LG does have the atmos support and for almost all other surround sound codecs. I would like to have some advice here on which TV to buy to get (at least hearing dolby atmos) such a good and comprehensive system.
I need to position my Boost further away from the current power socket. Has anyone found an extension cable or longer power supply for a Sonos Boost please? I have tried the usual Amazon/EBay searches but not yet found anything suitable?
I just went through a laborious several hours of setting up a separate S1 system of 3 legacy Play: 5 (gen 1) and 1 Connect. I had to set all 4 devices to factory since I couldn’t upgrade S1 to get the Removal tool. The I set up the new S1 network under my wife’s email since it wouldn’t allow me to use my existing email which was in use with S2. Everytime I open the S2 Controller app it tries to link to the S1 devices and asks me to remove these in order to use S2. How do I get S2 controller to link to a system that is under a different email account
