hi there I tried to set up a pair of Play:1's and a single Play:3 in the same room (kitchen), but I didn't manage to do so. Is that even possible? Everytime I tried to add the Play:3 as a new player, it kept ending up in the old room it was in before. And just changing the rooms name of the play:3 to kitchen wouldn't work either.

I recently gifted a Play 1 to a friend. She told me that she was not very computer confident,so I installed in for her. She has a new iPhone, but her laptop is old (7 years). I attempted to install the Sonos controller on the laptop (windows XP) I downloaded and installed the Sonos app and attempted to hook up the play 1 speaker. However, the program didn’t “see” the speaker when I hit the stop & + button. I tried several times to no avail. I then tried to install the Sonos app on the iPhone, that took a while but was eventually successful. The app functioned fine. I wanted to give Sonos access to her music library, but her music was only on her laptop. After her iPhone installation, I again tried to install Sonos on her laptop. This time the laptop “found” the speaker immediately. But the music library settings was ‘grayed out’ and I am unable to get access to her music library. I just purchased the Play:1 to listen to music without turning my TV on. I use a Mac mini as an HTPC for all my media I was hoping this device would be able to use my iTunes library from my iPhone however I soon realized that the music needs to be stored on the iPhone. What good is this if my only choices are to cherry pick songs to store on my Phone for playback or running the risk of using all my phones space to store over 50,000 songs just to use this device. I hope I'm missing something and the community is able to help because at this point the speaker is useless. Sorry if I'm coming off vexed I'm just irritated. I was hoping after hardwiring (ethernet) the speaker I assumed I was able to play from my iTunes iOS app or at best be able to play ALL my music from iTunes without using every bit of space on my phone. The speaker is beautiful and is well made. I want to like it but maybe Bluetooth is the better option. Thank you for help in advance.

Sub placement

I'm new to the world of SONOS, so please bear with me. I purchased the soundbar, 2 One's and SUB to create the so-called 5.1. After readfing the forums i'm starting to understand that DTS is not possible without workarounds. I have an LG 4K TV that is set to output Dolby Digital, an optical cable straight from the TV to the soundbar. XBOX one. I have managed to get Star Wars BluRay to churn out 5.1 from the XBOX One which does sound awesome, but when I play my MKV's from my NAS via the XBOX one, they only play in stereo, or no sound at all. Has anyone managed to find a way around this. I think the MKV's maybe decoded to DTS. I have also tried via Kodi, but again only playing in Stereo or not at all. Any help is greatly appreciated

My SONOS set up includes 6 rooms (3 with stereo pairs) which also includes a CONNECT that is plugged directly into my router. I then run a line in to my TV to be able to listen to it on my SONOS system. (predominantly in the living room) A certain times the audio suffers the stuttering and drop outs when watching the TV (everything works perfectly when streaming music to any room) I have purchase a BOOST to sort this issue out once and for all, but I was wondering if anyone can let me if i need to plug both the BOOST & CONNECT into my router? Or does the BOOST go into the router and the CONNECT plugs into the BOOST.... thanks

Hi, earlier in the year I bought a Sonos PlayBar to go with my new new Panasonic TV. I was thinking of adding a couple of Play:1's as rear speakers but have a couple of questions. My PlayBar is connected to the router via Ethernet cable and to the TV using the optical connection. - The manual for the TV states the optical connection supports Dolby Digital so will the Play:1's work properly in that setup? - The I am assuming that the Play:1's will connect fine to the network, i.e. I do not need any additional kit like the CONNECT. I may get a SUB at a latter date but my lounge is not massive so I am not sure I need the SUB right now. Thanks Andy

On MAC desktop, playing music from Pandora or Amazon (haven't tried other sources) when new tune starts playing a popup with artist and tune name info appears on top of whatever else am working on. It is distracting and often annoying when am doing work. Is there a way to disable or stop this from happening? If not, hope Sonos will consider building-in that option. thanks-

I use my AV Reciever as a switch for all my devices (computer, Satellite, Cable TV, etc) and it is connected to the TV. Since yesterday I had a couple of speakers connected to the AV reciever. I want to get the sound of the different HDMI components to listent through the connect and the others sonos speakers. So far I only could do it using the Phones connection, using a jack/RCA cable, but it generate interferences and stop every now and then. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have been using my three Sonos Play:1s quite happily now for well over a year, but now I have bought a new Play:1 and when trying to add it, I'm told "Your Sonos controller must be updated before you can add and set up Sonos products". I recall getting an email saying that the latest version of the Sonos Controller would not be compatible with Windows XP, which I'm still using on the machine where the Sonos controller is used. Does this mean that I will be forced to update to a version of the controller that is not compatible with my OS, thus rendering my entire system unusable? Before anyone says it, I am not interested in updating to a newer version of Windows at the moment. It's an enormous amount of work and there is no compelling reason for it. The OS is just background infrastructure in my view, not a toy. It should be meddled with as little as possible.

Hello, Is there a way to automatically clear the queue when you start to play a new song or a new album? I don't always want Sonos to continue playing when my new selected songs or album is finished playing. I thin it would be a great feature.

I bought sonos so I could set it up with my turntables and mixer system, doing away with my wired speakers and offering more flexibility. So far though I haven't had any joy in getting this correct. I did phone in a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't hear back. I have two technics 1210's connected to an Allen and Heath mixer which is then connected to a Cambridge Audio amp, which was then connected to two speakers. I have a Sonos Bridge, Sonos Connect and a play 5. If someone can help with instructions/diagrams on how this should be set up I would be delighted.

In a certain iTunes artist folder, I've got 16 albums, all imported from CDs. 3 were brought in as MP4, the rest WAV. Sonos "sees" the 3 MP4 albums, but not the WAV albums. Any ideas?

I plan on mounting a TV in the open space family area, I already have two in-ceiling speakers that I would like to work in conjunction with the TV. I would also like to purchase the following: - Sonos Playbar that would be mounted below the TV on-wall - Sonos Sub is on the floor to the right of the TV - Use the 2 in-ceiling speakers For all of this to work together, I believe the following setup is needed. - Sonos playbar would need a CAT5 cable to connect directly to a Sonos Connect Amp - Sonos playbar would also have the optical connection to the TV - 2 in-ceiling speakers run speaker wire directly to the Sonos Connect Amp In this setup when I turn on my TV will the in-ceiling speakers automatically be used? I am planning on buying a Playbar, Sub and 2 Play:3's, mainly for use as 5.1 hometheatersystem. I also want to connect my Pioneer DDJ-Ergo-K dj-controller, to the SonosNet, in order to be able to hear my mix trough all Sonosspeakers. How can i do this? I already know that Sonos has the Connect and Connect:Amp, which have an analog input that i can use. If this is really the way to do it, do i use the Connect or the Connect:Amp? I do have 1 doubt; i have found on the internet that when i connect a mixer to the Connect (:Amp), there might be a slight delay. (The music in the headphones is not in sync with the music played trough the speakers, which is not acceptable when mixing). If there will be a delay, i could use a receiver: Connecting the Pioneer dj-controller to the analog input of the receiver, then connecting the receiver with HDMI to my tv, which has the Playbar connected on it. After the last update my mac computer now shows alerts up in the top right of my screen like the low battery type of alert very time Sirius Radio goes to a commercial on, for example, Fox News. Hi everyone, I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair of Play:5s but I have a question about auxiliary inputs with a stereo pair. Forgive my ignorance, since I'm not an owner yet, but when I set up a stereo pair in the app, is the aux input of one speaker pushed to the paired speaker? I'm asking because what I've read tells me that I need an AirPort Express if I want to actually use the Sonos units with AirPlay, and not via the Sonos app... am I right about that, or wrong about everything? I'd ask in a store, but I don't have a stockist nearby, so I'll be ordering online. Thank you very much for your help.

We currently have a Sonos Connect that is connected to our paging system speakers, we have a couple of areas that don't have speakers setup and we would like to place individual Sonos 1's or the like in these areas, but have them grouped with the current third party speakers. Is this possible with the Connect? I'm not concerned about these new Sonos speakers working with the paging announcements, just whether the Connect can have both third party and Sonos devices controlled through it, playing the same music, at the same time. Hopefully that makes sense. Can anyone confirm this for me before I attempt it?

Hey, I got turned on to Sonos a few years back when I went to a couple of parties and they simply ended up being a Sonos party; you know the ones where you take turns in putting a single song and your life thereafter is judged by everyone on the single song you chose! (I still claim that Starship are an awesome group!) Currently I have a single Play 1 (no idea on what generation) which sits in the dining room and will either play there at parties in the winter or will get moved into the garden (though range is an issue) in the summer. Whilst it is suitable for the smaller rooms I do want to build on it. I also have an older (and at the time expensive) separates AV/HiFI home cinema setup that I do not really use. The general idea was to purchase a Play 3 for the dining/garden rooms (ie for the parties) and another Play 1 and a sub for a 2 x play 1 + Sub.
