Today we are introducing the most extensive app redesign ever, creating an unprecedented streaming experience that allows listeners to organize their favorite playlists, stations, albums and more from over 100 services on one customizable Home screen.

Home Screen

The new Home screen provides faster access to Sonos system controls with one easy swipe up, making tab to tab jumping a thing of the past. As a leader in sound experience that’s focused on creating a better way to listen, Sonos intentionally redesigned the app on a modern software platform for an easier, faster and better experience that can support more rapid innovation.

The reimagined app supports all existing S2 products and will be available globally through a software update for the S2 mobile app.

100+ streaming services, one Home screen

The redesigned Sonos app prioritizes a listening experience that’s human - allowing you to bring your true favorites front and center and giving you more control to make your streaming experience your own.

  • Get into your music (and off the app) faster: No need to tap between tabs — the new Home screen serves up all your favorite content and controls, all in one place. Quickly jump back into your recently played, browse libraries and recommendations from your preferred services, and fill your home with music and all the sounds you love.
  • Customize and curate: Enjoy unparalleled curation by designing your Home screen to reflect how you listen. Pin rows of your favorite content and services; then move, edit, or rearrange them to your liking.
  • Search every streaming library: Look for an artist, song, podcast, or audiobook across all your preferred streaming apps at once via an easy-to-use search bar that’s always available right on your Home screen.
  • Elevated system control: Swipe up from the bottom of your Home screen to seamlessly control your entire system and access a visual overview of what’s playing on each of your products, quickly group speakers, and dial in on the perfect volume from anywhere in the app.

Accessible from any modern web browser, a brand new web app allows listeners the same seamless system control as the mobile app.

The new Web App

The Web App will be available alongside the redesigned mobile app on May 7, 2024.

This app is a downgrade, very disappointing. You need to give customers an option to go back to the prior version, as this new version is buggy and missing core features. I am surprised at how poorly this app was rolled out, seems C-level was more focused on the investor meeting today than the app and current customers.

Did anyone signed up to the Beta programme get to test the new app? It's an absolute ********.

From a design / navigation perspective I like this App update. But yes, many things need to be fixed or added back in, like the Que issues. Also, can we please get lock screen controls and compatibility with the dynamic island?! These are must haves and a huge reason I will not use the Sonos app.

This is whack.  Can’t search NAS library.  Help agent just told me you can’t even manage a local library and there’s nothing you can do to fix it right now.

Amazing that this was released with no warning that many features would go dark.

This is a terrible update. Pandora radio modes are gone. There were options to play deep less familiar cuts, or explore a wider range of related artists. These are core functions of Pandora.

Please advise on rollback to previous version.

Please advise on rollback to previous version.

No roll back possible. If you have other devices with S2 app on it this still works. But turn off updates ASAP in the devices with S2

A new UI With less functionality. That’s not an upgrade. I have my music library stored on a NAS, which is hard to find in this new version. it seems targeted at services versus a local music library. The queue does not show what’s playing next. It is not useful. I will not upgrade my other devices.

How do I make a Sonos playlist, on the new interface?

The only route is to use something like apk mirror.   Apple users are stuffed if they've updated.

With the new app what have you been messing around with Sonos Radio HD? As for classical music? Two radios out of three are missing : Full Symphony and Quiet Classical!!
To find them you have to go through the search engines and add them as favorites otherwise they are in the mist of nowhere.

Let me remind you that this a subscription service and we shouldn’t be paying for a downgraded service!!!! Please fix this asap (and add more classical music Sonos radio stations  please!)

Another matter:
I live in France : why haven’t you added BBC Sounds as a full service as you have done recently with Radio France?

Here's a new one

All the shiny new features to make it look like an online streaming service may be good for people who use those things, but I have a music library and I just want to play my own music. The features to do this seem to have completely gone:

  • When I browse, I can’t queue an album or track to play next, only replace what is playing - this is the main way everyone here uses Sonos so will be a disaster
  • I have a LOAD of playlists on My SONOS but most of them now seem empty
  • I can’t find a way to make a new playlist so I can’t even use that to simulate Play-next/Queue
  • My Music Library keeps vanishing from the UI, and doesn’t show up in search results so I can only access it via Browse, when it’s there

What is going on? How has Sonos let this happen?

I agree with those who would like to hear from Sonos at this point.

A apology, an explanation (what was the thinking behind releasing an app that downgraded functionality?) and a statement explaining they are replacing the new app with the previous one until  the new one is fit for purpose would be appropriate.

Anyone found out how to refresh the music library using the new app?

If this is not possible, is there a way of reverting to the previous app?

In y favorites, all the icons have no pictures apart from ‘BBC World Service’.  Anyone having similar experience?  Is there a way of fixing this?

There is a new app update, 80.00.04, just released to further update the new app. But I’ve no idea what it has done as it hasn’t sorted any of the gripes I had with the update.

Sadly no. Using that version.  Someone must clearly not like his company in the app development team.  They have just shot their own company on the foot.  To release an incomplete and buggy product after so much publicity sounds like a deliberate act.

My app now looks completely broken, with no graphics for any of my favourites.  Did anyone really test this?  If so, they should be asked to justify their positions.

Any idea how to fix this?

Where has the timers function gone??????

Just been updated to the new updated app from sonos

First impression…...IT’S RUBBISH

Timer functions is now totaly lost….…

Spent a fortune on speakers for this!!!!! why

Bring back s2

Is it just me or the app keeps crashing after the update. I needed to remove the app and download it again. I just saw there was a new small update so I updated the app. It crashed again so I needed to remove the app and download it all over again.

It happens both on my iPhone 13 Pro and iPad Mini 6

Anyone know how to fix this?  No songs listed for playlist.

I think they pushed the beta version not production. All the bugs are intact.

Any idea how to fix this?

You need to wait until the software's out of Beta. May work then.

As I have said in my previous posts this is such a radical change to the function of the Sonos system that the opportunity to stay at S2 level should be offered and this App becomes S3.

Remember were you came from Sonos - a system that played music (very well) from a local library of ripped (owned) music with a core of users who spent a lot of money on multiple speaker systems - not just a Roam, Move or a set of headphones.

I have a friend who has just bought a ARC, SUB, ERA 200 X2 and an ERA 100. I have advised him to put his Retailer on notice to expect the whole lot back for a refund if this App situation is not rectified.
