Hello everyone... My name is Alan Graham and I'm a writer/Sonos enthusiast. I've started a blog over at http://worldofsonos.com so that I could get a Sonos user community going. I hope to see the site develop into a place where not only I, but many of you can share everything Sonos...from great ideas, problems solved, and even profiles of other solutions. So bookmark the site. Big news coming tomorrow...btw. Alan
Echo Plus seems like it dose so much more and is $50.00 cheaper,am I missing something?
Hi, im from chicago. I have many customers asking me about sonos. how I can become a sonos dealer and start selling this product to mu customers ?
There are rumours of an Amazon Echo 2 being released soon, It'll be a very interesting time with all of these new 'Smart Speakers' being launched. The Apple Homepod, the new Sonos speaker with built-in voice mics and the Echo 2 will all be competing to become the speaker of choice for those customers looking for a great sounding smart speaker. Pricing will be critical, as although there are millions of people who are prepared to pay a premium for Apple products, mainly to keep everything within the Apple ecosystem, I'd imagine Amazon will have to undercut them significantly and Sonos will probably be somewhere in the middle if they release a new Play 1 style speaker with built-in mics. The only issue that Sonos have is that they don't have their own voice control system, but will rely on Alexa, and Alexa already has a huge userbase, helped by Amazon using their affordable Echo dots as a trojan horse and 'converting' them to Alexa users before either Apple or Sonos have their o
Lately I've noticed more problems with Sonos. Maybe this isn't all on them, but if the problem comes from equipment that I bought from them then they own it, whether they like it or not. We've had our system I guess about 2 years now. When I first got the system I felt like the company had personality, there were people there -- not just bots. They didn't feel like just another tech company with products that aren't made to last. They didn't feel like they were only going to be around until someone up the food chain buys them. I felt good about our investment. Today, not so much. Sonos feels like a tech company I've put way too much faith in, that I'm now way too dependent on. I think they know that. Tech support is average at best. Today I was on hold for 20 minutes, then got dropped. I didn't bother calling back. I submitted a case, hopefully I'll get a reply. The fact that I'm writing this bothers me. I've been in tech since 1989 and I hate what's happened to the bu
I have seen many news articles that mention that the Sonos announcement is today but none of them mention a time. Is this something we can watch like Apple or Google events?
Interesting product, but as with all of these types of soundbar I'd really want to listen to it before making a decision. http://www.yarra3dx.com/
@ Sonos' Marketing Department - the Sonos blog is great (as are the more detailed articles in the 'Get Inspired' section), we want more 🙂 I'd like to urge Sonos to be more active with the blog posts - more frequency please. Everything that you're doing with the content is good, we just want more of it 😉 Thanks in advance!
Within the period and terms and condition for "the 15 year anniversary - 15% of discount", I bought the Sonos Play-Base and applied it to the discount cash back site. A day later I also bought the Sonos SUB, but it was not possible for me to apply another system to the same cash back discount site. Concerning the terms and conditions it should be possible to sign in 3 times a Sonos product per household within the cash back period. What is the solution Sonos offers to sign in another (2nd) product within this Sonos 15 year anniversary - 15% cash back period?
Is there a portable speaker on the market that works with Sonos. For example, I would like to be able to use my Bose SoundLink Mini on my deck and have it connected to my Sonos system on an as needed basis, verses plugging my Sonos Play:1 into an outlet each time.
ok, not really. But no company has eternal life. Sonos doesn't have it neither. So, let's use our imagination and imagine that Sonos goes bankrupt (doesn't matter if it is likely or not). Q: What will happen to our speakers? I presume we won't see any software updates coming (assuming Sonos won't open source it). But what else will happen? Background: reason I'm asking is that I strongly dislike the risk of being reliant on a company to have my speakers to work and I'm not sure whether this is the case with Sonos. I don't want to buy a "Revolv smart home hub" when I could have bought a pair of speakers that could last decades, barring technical failures. What's your take on whether Sonos speakers need Sonos-the-company to exist or not? Gijs p.s. I realise that if the company disappears and new services emerge afterwards that they probably won't be supported either
Hi, I recently bought a Soundbar and the company I bought it off of said that it qualifies fro the "15 Years For Us, 15% Off For You" promotion I received an e-mail for. They said there is a facility on the website to claim back th 15% but I can't find it. Can you help?
I tried to use the 15 year discount code on the SONOS site at checkout but it did not accept it. Is there a probem
Hi Sonos, Been a Sonos customer since 2006 and my last purchase for additional equipment came in 2013 so when I heard that Sonos were doing 15% off and I didn't get an email/discount code I was very disheartened. Is there anyway that one can be sent to my inbox before the offer ends? Thanks
Am I the only one that finds the new privacy statement disturbing? I cannot recall ever being told when I bought my seven products over a period of time that Sonos had the right to threaten disabling my property if I didn't pass over personal information. Does anyone in the UK know if, by law, they can blackmail consumers in this way, post-purchase?
Does anyone know how to make the sonos system operate with voice commands similar to the Amazon Echo?
There has been a bit of conjecture recently that Sonos could cease trading due to competition, and not catering for the latest and greatest audio formats. If this happened, where would that leave all their existing customers, regarding the Sonos App and the music streaming services? Just asking as I am thinking of a new system, and hope that Sonos will survive the stiff competition.
In light of Sonos' current effort in integrating the Amazon Echo/Alexa system as a control device, I wonder if this announcement might add some opportunity in the future to have it integrated inside the speaker as well. https://9to5mac.com/2017/04/13/amazon-alexa-growth-hardware-software-dev-kit/
Just to play Devil's advocate, having followed the great Alexa debate over the past months, I wonder what could happen if at some time in the near or medium future, another similar product is introduced which may be generally considered superior over the current Amazon offering? Say the wake work of the new product is "Corina", will there then follow months of posts asking "when is Corina coming to Sonos"? What an exciting prospect.
When will Sonos release the Amazon Echo app they have been talking about since August 2016???
Any chance of Sonos introducing an outdoor speaker? Would love to have Sonos in the garden but afraid of the Irish weather killing my sounds!
Tired of waiting for Sonos to incorporate Echo voice control Was promised as early2017 and then postponed to "later this year." I am ready to dump if this company doesn't provide an accurate and reasonable solution in the near term.
Yes, another Alexa topic. I thought about adding this to one of them, but I thought it would get buried and was worthy as a separate point. A couple days again, Amazon setup an integration between Echo and FireTV. That may be a little confusing since both use Alexa, but the idea is that you can give a command to an Echo to perform an action on a FireTv. Here are the basics of the new feature. -Setup requires that you pair a specific named echo device to a specific firetv. I would assume that would typically be where you have both tv and echo in the same room. You can use certain devices that use Alexa, like an fire tablet, app, or another firetv, to control firetv. Makes senses as it would add complications and defeat the main value of the integration. - Basic commands are to search, play, pause, resume, and launch an app. Additionally features are there for the Element TV with firetv built in. - You don't need to denote your command to firetv. In other words, if
After previously posting about a streaming solution to enable Amazon Alexa voice control for my Sonos speakers I've discovered a much simpler solution that works. It requires a Mac, an Echo and an App! It literally takes two minutes to setup and you can play any Amazon Echo compatible music source to your Sonos speakers using your voice. Hope this helps others wanting to control their Sonos speakers with their Amazon Echo 🙂
After seeing the new Siri Home Speaker launch today, one of my chief concerns with my Sonos setup is about future proofing. My curiosity started with my other research in the Sonos forums; I found interesting discussions on the whole DTS/ Dolby 5.1 compatibility as far as the streaming pass through (like Netflix shows with surround sound), as well as physical media (like Blu-Rays, which I rarely use). This got me thinking about whether Sonos would consider patches or firmware updates that allow future compatibility. Soon after, I started thinking about my "smart home" setup. As of today, I have the following devices: Master bedroom - Amazon Echo Dot (which will soon be releasing the Sonos voice-control update), 40" Flat Screen with Chromecast attached Sonos Play 5 Sonos CONNECT Amp attached to vintage Pioneer record player. Not directly related, I also have the Philips Hue Gen 3 in by bedroom, controlled by the Echo Dot. Living room: Acer Projector Playstation 4
