My Living room is 20’ x 20’ and I’m planing to setup the home theater system in the room with all Sonos speakers during my remodeling. I will be using it for watching movies, but also for our family parties. Can someone recommend what would be the ideal setup (not worrying about the cost)?I was thinking to start with Arch Sub Two CeilingWill adding two One SL (one on each side of the Arc) be better or is it too much and not necessary? How about adding two more Ceiling speakers (total of 4 ceiling+ Arc + Sub). Obviously I don’t want to spend more if I don’t have to, but if adding more speakers will make a significant difference, I don’t mind adding more. I will have two ceiling speakers in bedroom, dining room and patio as well. Thanks in advance.
I’ve got new home theatre system set up - consisting of an Arc, 2x One SLs and a Sub (gen 3) - and wondering whether to go wired network (i.e Ethernet cable the Arc only) or fully wireless? My router (Netgear Orbi) is very close all the above devices and has a very strong connection/WiFi throughput - download speeds at approximately 100mbps. All devices are all within a 9 square metre room, with no line-of-sight blockages.I understand that all three devices can only connect to the router via 2.4GHz, but if the Arc was to be Ethernet-connected, it on-communicates to the rear speakers/sub via its own 5GHz network. So I’m weighing up two positives:All three devices are connected wirelessly to the router’s very strong WiFi network, albeit at 2.4Ghz (please correct me if any of this is not correct); Arc is cabled up via Ethernet (to a router that has strong download speeds/thoroughput) and then transmit that to the rest via its own 5GHz network (which would be subject to less interference?)An
Hey! Recently upgraded my setup to a Sonos Arc, pairing it with a couple of IKEA bookshelf-speakers. Worked like a charm with the feintech, atleast on the chromecast ultra - full atmos experience. On the PC, not so much. I get little to no sound on the rears, dispite the sonos app showing an atmos input. The sound on the arc is alot thinner aswell - playing the same song through spotify connect etc. When trying the test in windows i get full sound on all channels. Anyone got any ideas?
So I recently got an Apple TV and was looking forward to air playing to my sonos arc. The issue I’m having is that the arc audio keeps cutting out. It will be fine for anything from 5-30 minutes and then either the arc completely loses sound, or audio goes in and out. I then have to go into airplaybsettings on Appletv and switch audio input to tv speaker and tben back to air lay and after a few times of doing this audio comes back. I have no audio cutout issues using airplay with normal audio from my iPhone.I’ve been reading the issue with the 14.6 firmware. Since I only this week set up my Apple TV I am not sure if my issue is the 14.6 issue or something else. Also sonos seems to have acknowledged the issue but now said there is no issue at all so I’m not sure what is going on with my set up.
I was having issues with my Apple tv And arc so I decided to try wiring my arc with Ethernet. Upon doing some googling I found out if I wire the arc it creates its own sonos wireless network to connect the other sonos speakers with instead of relying on my wifi network. the question I have is in this case do all sonos speakers now use the new sonos wifi created by the arc, or is it that if a sonos is out of reach of the sonos wifi it will still connect to my home wifi ? The reason I ask is that the arc is in my living room, with two ones nearby. No issues there. But I have 3 other ones that are quite far away and I cant imagine them having a stable enough wireless connection to the arc for me to use airplay without issues. would appreciate some guidance on this. When I go into sonos app and into system info I see all of them now on WM:0
Hi, have noticed since moving the Sub Gen3 closer to my seating position, that between audio there is a low pulsing/ticking noise. It’s very consistent and from all devices running into my TV (PS5, Xbox, PC). It does not happen when streaming from the Sonos App.I have tried literally every setting in the Sound section on the TV, to no avail, even switching to regular ARC instead of EARC.My setup is Arc + Sub Gen3 + 2x Sonos Five’s. The ticking sound only comes from the sub.Wondering if anyone else has noticed or experienced this?
Dear All, I recently bought a Sonos Beam Gen 2 and its connected to my Hisense TV via HDMI ARC. On the Sonos S2 App, its showing the Audio-in as Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 and the same on ‘Now Playing’ screen as well. Once done watching I used to switch off only the TV and Sonos will be left ON all the time (as there is no ON/OFF button on the device). And afterwards if I switch on my TV then the Audio-in on S2 app is showing as just Dolby Digital 5.1 instead of Dolby Digital Plus 5.1. The issue is solved once I restart my Sonos device or by unplugging/plugging the hdmi cable. Please suggest or guide me through any other solution if available.
Hi there,I recently bought a Beam Gen 2. Setup went fine and came to run Trueplay. Halfway through the “Trueplay where you sit” part it comes up with an error message saying “Lost speaker” and that one of my speakers can’t be heard. The crazy thing is that there’s no sub or surrounds connected, nor have I tried to connect any. So if it’s lost a speaker, I can only imagine it’s referring to one of the drivers in the Beam itself? For sanity, I reset it a few times and tried again. Made sure it was running the latest firmware etc. Hardwired it to my router (not that it should matter). None made a difference. The few things I noticed as rather suspect:The bit where it listens to the background noise just jumps to the next step when you hit Continue. It doesn’t listen for 5-10 seconds like it does with my other Sonos kit When I tried a 5.1 test file, the left channel was weirdly muffled. I suspect this is the real issue. I ran a diagnostic, the number being 1552656763. Help appreciated! :-)
Until very recently, I had no problems with the sound from my Beam. Then starting a week ago, I couldn’t change the sound volume, or mute the sound. (The on-screen sound volume bar showed volume increasing or decreasing, but no actual sound volume change occurred.) Today, the on-screen sound volume indicator shows that the sound is muted, and I cannot unmute, or increase volume. I can get sound from the TV speakers, and the on-screen sound volume indicator works. I tried (1) cycling the Beam off and on, and (2) switching the TV sound output between TV and Beam.Any suggestions?
I bought used Sonos Beam (gen 1). Previous owner said it worked correctly. I mounted the device at home, pressed and hold the special “infinity” button until short sound received, to delete all the settings . Unfortunately it did not help. Sonos app on my IPhone does not find my Sonos Beam. So I cannot tune it, cannot use air play and voice management. Thank God it connects to TV via HDMI ARC well enough and TV sound plays on Beam correctly.
In my living room, I have a Sonos Arc with a Sub and 2 xPlay:1 for surround. Recently I’ve noticed that the system appears to loss the bass. The sub is still part of the Living Room when I look in the Sonos app. If I turn the Sub off in the Sub Audio option, then I can hear the bass increase as it’s now coming from the Arc.I’ve taken some diagnostics, hopefully someone can take a look and tell me if they can see an issue.Diagnostic: 2074324410When this happened yesterday, I had to remove the sub from the room and add it back in to fix it. Is there a quicker way to resolve it while I await a response from Sonos?
Hi all I have just purchased 2 sonos one speakers to go with my sonos beam that I use for my TV. The beam added in the app straight away. When I try to add the sonos ones it just doesn't show when it's searching for devices. However, I factors reset all 3 devices and discovered that I can add the beam and the speakers won't be discoverable or if I add the speakers then it won't be able to see that there is beam aswell. They are not set as a stereo pair. They are all on the same network. Can anyone help..pulling my hair out
Hello, I have tried all possible troubleshooting, but I have just updated my Sonos ecosystem to version 11.4 and now 3 of my units keep disappearing. i have managed to have the 3 back online, but they just disappeared again. I have never experienced it before, but just after updating units, it started to happen.it seems that after power down power up the router, solves temporarily. But I do have 2 units wired to the router and WM shows 0Please, I really need support
Sign of the times… I’m considering powering down (off at the plug) my Sonos devices overnight to save some pennies. Would this be damaging to them at all? Connected devices sometimes don’t like having the plug pulled regularly. Any loss of settings, or wearing over time? Thanks,Matt
Need some help or ideas here. since a view days I see the following.Turn on TV and sound go to ARc as expectedTurn off TV and sound stops as expected but when I tell in app to play some music (Spotify or so) System telling the it’s still sitting on TV audio (TV is off!) As I also use Home Assistant I can see the ARC in mode playing while TV is off and nothing else is streaming at that time.Spotted the issue asks (turn on radio) button in Home Assistant stopped working which makes sense when TV is playing ( TV is still off)Had a longer chat with German Sonos Helpdesk today and they came back to tell me „That’s the standard“I told it can’t be standard as also the ARC don’t go to sleep (power safe) anymore even nothing is playing. This is also monitored by Home Assistant. ideas, help, anything?
HiI have Arc, a sub and two play 3s as a surround system in the main room. In the last 24 hours the play 3s and the sub have stopped outputting surround sound. I deleted the play 3s and reset them up and all worked for about 10 mins then after I used trueplay the surround sound stopped again. The sub and the play 3s still show in the app and in the system.Would appreciate any help.Josh
Hey there!I have a Sonos Sub Gen 3 (dates from 18/09) that doesn't works anymore.I already unplugged it, try another socket, but nothing changes. I shows no light, no sign of life.Does Sonos have some repair center in USA or another solution to make my 5.1 system complete again? Thanks!
Bought a Sonos Arc today and came home to set it up. Went through the setup instructions provided by GuitarSuperstar here:The setup went smoothly except that the “Select HDMI Input Audio Format” option is greyed out and I can’t change it to ‘Bitstream’ as instructed - it’s still set at ‘PCM’. Not sure where to go with this. :-/
Set up:LG C1 OLED using eARC and Pass Through Sonos Beam (Gen 2) Sonos SLs (set up as surrounds) Apple TV 4K 2021 (sound output Auto, Atmos ON) Xbox Series X (using Dolby Atmos for Home Theater)TL;DR - If you have both the Xbox Series X w/ Atmos enabled turned ON and the Apple TV 4K w/Atmos also turned ON (both on separate HDMI inputs), when you try to watch Apple TV content that comes in with Multichannel PCM 7.1 (e.g. Bob’s Burgers on Hulu), there is no sound output from the apple tv when playing the actual content. Interestingly, the navigational audio from apple tv (boop, boop, boop) works when navigating the menus (e.g. browsing Hulu), but as soon as you try to play content (e.g. start an episode of Bob’s Burgers) it will have no sound output 100% of the time.To make it even weirder, while pausing Bob’s Burgers, if you unplug the HDMI cable from apple tv multiple times you can on occasion get audio to work altho the audio channels are then incorrect - the vocals come thru the rear
Recently got the Sonos Beam (Gen2). Bit annoyed that it requires an app to setup. An app that demands to know my location otherwise refuses to load. But anyway…I setup the speaker, plugged in a mix of cables to get my TV connectedBeam > HDMI (included) > Optical adapter (included) > Aux converter (my own) > TVEverything worked great. We were watching TV and I deleted the app.Next day, I turn on the TV and there is no sound. The Beam has a solid white light and if I press the Play button it flashes orange. I re-downloaded the app, turned the speaker off and on, wiggled some of the cables… not sure what i did but it started working again. If I press the Play button it goes from a White light to a Green light, muting or unmuting the sound. All seems well. I deleted the app again… I don’t want it.Next day. I turn on the TV and there is no sound. We’re back to White/Orange lights. What am I doing wrong here? I just want to plug my TV into this speaker and have sound. Do I have to
Hi All,Really could do with your help, have given up multiple times, but want to give it one last try before i ditch the Beam (1st gen).I’ve got an Optoma P2 Projector, which has HDMI and Optical Output. The P2 support Dolby Digital 2.0 (HDMI ARC and Optical Output support Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus pass through). We stream from the Google Chromecast to the P2 projector, but have never (for 2 years) been able to get audio to the Sonos Beam and have had to settle for the projector speakers.I’ve tried an audio extractor (Input = Chrome Cast HDMI, Output = HDMI video to P2 and Optical to Beam via the supplied HDMI to Optical cable) but haven’t had any luck.Have also tried routing the audio from the P2 project direct into the Beam, I’ve noticed the optical output on both the extractor and the P2 have the red light, but am perplexed why I am not getting any sound. Is there something within the Projector, the Speakers or Chromecast I’ve missed?
I’ve read a lot of posts regarding similar issues to mine but none identical. I have a classic Sonos surround set-up with the Beam, run from a Samsung TV on HDMI ARC, which works perfectly most of the time. However when viewing advert supported channels e.g. My5 and 4OD I get a loud buzzing from the Beam right channel toward the end of the advert sequence or when the programme restarts. It’s like there is a change in the audio coding used by the ads which triggers it and the only way to stop it is by power cycling the Beam. I submitted a diagnostics report hoping for some advice: 691378500.
