I just bought a new ARC to replace my PLAYBAR. My LG tv has an AC port but not an EAC port. Will ATMOS work when plugged to the AC port, or do I need to buy a new TV to enjoy ATMOS. All my viewing is done through my new Apple TV.  Many thanks for help/advice.

Do you mean ARC instead of AC, and EARC instead of EAC?  If so, you can get Atmos from Dolby Digital+ from some ARC equipped TV’s, but they have to support Atmos over DD+.  DD+ is used by almost all streaming services.

Many thanks, JG. You are correct. Idid mean ARC and EARC. My 2018 vintage LG OLED tv has ARC but no EARC. If ARC doesn't support Dolby Atmos, I have read you can buy a small converter (HD Fury 4K Arcana) that might save me from buying a new 65” LG. Any thoughts? Many thanks, JG

There are quite a few audio extractors these days that will provide Atmos audio to your Sonos Arc. Here are a few links to perhaps help get your research started…

There are others too, besides the examples shown above, so it’s worth exploring further before choosing to buy.

Note that for streaming content, 99% is still in Dolby Digital Plus, which is carried by ARC. it’s only Apple TV and some games and Blu-ray players that require the full eARC connection that you might get with those above devices.

It really depends on where you’re getting your (still small amount of) Atmos content.
