I have an old LG TV from 2013 55LM5850 which I have connected to a Beam with the optical attachment that came with the Beam. I also have a sub mini and Play 1’s as rears. No matter what I do I can only get PCM stereo on anything including movies that I know have Dolby 5.1. Am I SOL because of the age of my TV or is there something I can do. I read somewhere about an adaptor of some sort may help or a change in the TV via service menu which I have no idea how to get to. Any help here at all or do I just need a new TV. I want to keep the old one as it’s 3D and I have a bunch of 3D Blu rays that we still like to watch.
I saw a number of other couch against the wall posts but they were too specific to others situations, so here’s mine. I have a movie room with the Arc, Sub and 2 One SLs. Our couch is against the rear wall and can’t be moved forward. I’m considering upgrading the One SLs with two Era 300s for atmos surround. Our ceilings are low (about 8’) and the Arc sits on a media console pulled to the front edge. The couch does have a healthy width back and arm rests so we do get pushed forward a bit but not enough to have the speakers actually behind us. i have the One SLs mounted ear height over each arm rest and angled towards the center of the couch/slightly down and they sound good. They’re mounted to the drywall with the Midlite mounts with in wall hidden cable system. Would you recommend mounting the Era 300s with wall mounts near the same place but just have them square and level to the front of the room? One issue is they need to be stud mounted, so the right speaker (right when lookin
Feature Request: different surround levels for spatial audio vs stereo When listening to atmos content via Apple Music, I feel the need to turn up the surround music slider. It is then too loud on the surrounds when a traditional stereo track comes on. I have the surrounds set to full. I’d like there to be separate volume sliders for Spatial Audio surrounds and stereo audio surrounds, just like tv vs music, but a subcategory within music.
I posted a while back about my Arc cutting out for about a second periodically. Research suggests my Samsung Q80T might be the culprit. In the last week or so the odd second has become a much more frequent 4 to 6 seconds.Time to call it in I think. Anyone else experiencing this?
So I have a Beam Gen 2 hooked up to an LG G2. 4K Fire Stick in HDMI 1, Beam in HDMI 2 (e-Arc), PS5 in HDMI 3 and Nintendo Switch in HDMI 4.If I have the Fire Stick set to “best audio possible” I lose surround audio on the Switch (stereo works fine) and I lose 5.1 Blu Ray audio on the PS5 (game and menu audio not affected). If I set the Fire Stick to PCM I get audio on Blu Rays and surround on Switch, but I lose the surround on Switch if the PS5 is on the main menu or playing a game, but not if it’s playing a 5.1 Blu Ray…I think it has something to do with Atmos, as the Fire Stick is constantly on and constantly trying to put out Atmos if it can when on the “best possible” setting and the PS5 puts out Atmos on the menu and in games, but not on Blu Rays that don’t have an Atmos track. It’s like if the Beam is putting out Atmos on one input, that’s the only kind of audio it can put out in any other input other than standard stereo?it’s not a huge issue, there’s not a lot of Atmos content
Hello,I just bought an Arc. It got me thinking about how I can build a surround system, so I found out about the Amp. I’d love to run this setup: Arc - no Ethernet, connected to a (slightly older) TV via HDMI-ARC Amp - no Ethernet, powering: 2 matched Denon bookshelf speakers 1 third party sub1. Is this possible?2. Assuming I can run the diagnostics on either an Android or an iOS device, can I get Trueplay tuning in this setup? Thanks,~alex
Just got my Arc and did a temporary setup last night with it sitting on a box below TV. Am looking to do a permanent wall mount soon. The Sonos guidelines state pretty clearly (and in multiple locations) that the Arc should be placed/mounted “at least” 4 inches from the bottom of the TV.Why 4 inches? Is this for thermal reasons? Or sonic quality reasons? Or something else? TVs are not CRT any longer so couldn’t be for the old-school image EM disruption reason, LOL. Is it to provide ample space for the upward-firing Atmos speakers? I’d like to mount the Arc to the wall below the TV, but closer than 4 inches between top of Arc and bottom of TV. If this is truly a naughty no-no, I will have to move my TV up higher on the wall, which I don’t want to do for viewing purposes, and also because it’s a pain - already mounted in place for years with lag screws and a precisely located cut-out in the wall for cables, etc.The only reason I can think of that would give me pause is if it’s a the
I bought an ‘immersive set’ through a black Friday deal and I am delighted with my beam sound bar & mini-sub. However I haven’t opened the Era100s yet as surrounds as i thought I would try my old gen 2 Play:1s first. I didn’t know these could be used until after ordering - bad research!it seems the surround set up leaves the Era 100s rather ‘dumb’ - and the sound quality improvements over the play’s just isn’t material in this arrangement. Would folks agree? It seems like a waste. I’m tempted to pass on the Era’s.
Got the Arc, Sub3, and a pair of Era 300's with Sanus stands for Black Friday. Looking for suggestions on best placement. Unfortunately I won't be able to get 'ideal seating' with the room layout. Any other suggestions besides the attached photo? TV is 65" LG C9 wallmounted.Unfortunately I can’t change the furniture layout just because of the door, openings, and windows. I am open to returning the 300’s though if I won’t get much of a benefit without ideal placement.
Hi All,I have just gotten a Beam gen 2, and went through the app setup process, and the app just blank not loading anything.the product is working by it self but the app is not working with the systems etc. When I look at my system tab in the app, it’s says my product is ‘not registered’, and then when I click on that and go through the process it says I have to factory reset the product (which I’ve obviously tried already) to no luck. Have tried the following factory reset of Sonos product, reset WiFi uninstalling / updating app new account / setup process for my new product Live chat unfortunately wasn’t helpful Any Help would be appreciated,Cheers
Hello All, I’m looking to mount my Era 300’s upside down, at ceiling height. Before I start ripping my walls apart and drilling holes has anyone already done this that is able to share photos of their Installation? / does anyone have any advise for me before mounting them upside down? Here is a photo of my Era 300’s currently, yes I know they’re not positioned correctly. TIA,Jamie
Hi Sonos Community we have a great room setup - kitchen on one side that faces the TV in living room.i have new Arc soundbar and sub (gen 3) hooked up to the TV. all works well. bought 2 ERA 100 speakers last week to place in kitchen to fill in the sound when watching TV or cooking in the kitchen.first setup i did was add the ERA 100s to the “Living Room/TV” with the Arc and Sub configuration under “System”. the app defaulted to “surround” speaker setup for the ERA 100s. it connected fine but being surround sound setup it only played music or sounds effects from the TV??….no voices or people talking. not the setup i wanted.so i removed the ERA 100s from the “Living Room/TV” config and created a new config called “Kitchen”. ERA speakers work fine and i can add them to the “Living Room/TV” config so they play the TV sound including voices or play music on them while TV on.my questions:~ when i turn on the TV the Arc and Sub play sound from the TV however the ERA 100s in kitchen do no
I have a Panasonic ptar1000u, a ps5, a cable box, and an Xbox series x. I want to be able to hook them all up using the Sonos arc, and be able to get use of Dolby atmos when watching content on my Xbox or ps5. I’ve found so many conflicting experiences online. Just looking for a little help. I thought if I got an av receiver capable of outputting earc I could just hook all my components to it and then hook it to the Sonos arc, but it appears that won’t work. Any suggestions would be awesome, I’d hate to return my new arc.
Hello guys,I have a set of era 100s with a sub mini and am planning to get Beam sound bar to improve the surrounding quality. However, I mainly use projector to watch movies and series. I wonder is it possible to group them a a whole and use the ear 100’s Bluetooth to connect the system where the rest speaker are receiving data through Wi-Fi connection. Or the Beam will become the master device for the group and there is no way to use the Bluetooth on ear 100? If that is the case, would you think the next gen Beam will come with Bluetooth combability? Thanks in advance!
I bought a Beam 2 seven month ago, and the last couple of months the Beam is developing a tinny metalic sound in talking/voice sounds (playing music is still fine, but I think other frequencies are used there, I am sure there is technical / scientific explanation for it). Here is a sound sample example of it:Sonos- donderdag om 19-33.m4aThis is a clip/fragment from youtube: Sonos Era 300 + Arc & Sub: Ultimate Home Audio Experience? - YouTubeSo I found my self more or less forced to buy another new soundbar from Sonos (Why not another brand?; it was black Friday and I already invested in two subs and 2 Sonos surround boxes which are 1500 euro worth, and I hope it is a rare defect) which does not has that problem (and I did not also perceive that distorted effect at other cheap desktop speakers and other (Sonos) speakers, that I possess ).The distortion was less when I placed the sound bar on soft fabric tissues, but unfortunately that did not solve it enough. Anyone an idea what ki
Sent diagnostics # 173009449 When playing music with AirPlay through my Playbase, Gen 3 Subwoofer and 2 Play:1’s I get persistent drops of music and stutters. All the other Sonos models play fine except for this one system/group. Have a Gen 1 Beam plugged in to ethernet with wifi enabled with 2 Play:1’s and it’s just fine. All other Sonos products use Wifi.
I’ve just purchased and set up a Beam Gen 2 to replace an old Samsung 2.1 system that finally began to kick the bucket. Even with just regular stereo content and no sub, it sounds much better with all kinds of media than the old Samsung. I’d love to make use of Dolby formats and even get surround sound set up (my fiancée and I both own Sonos Ones), but it seems my Panasonic TX-50DX750B television might be the weak link. There’s bothersome audio sync issues when playing Dolby Digital 5.1 content via Apple TV 4K or PS5 that aren’t resolved with the Sonos app offset. My TV’s got great picture quality, but only regular ARC, and the audio settings are incredibly limited. There’s not a single use of ‘passthrough’ in any of the menus; the closest option I can find is ‘HDMI Audio Format’. That only offers ‘Auto’, ‘Bitstream’ or ‘PCM’. From my research, it looks like my TV simply doesn’t handle processing DD fast enough for the Beam, and I might have to look into getting something like the HDFu
I just recently bought a Beam Gen 2 and paired it with some One SLs for a 5.0 surround setup. I notice that when I play stereo PCM content from my TV, such as an average YouTube video, it seems to send part of that to the surround speakers with all kinds of gnarly artifacts. To my ears, it sounds like a combination of low bits-per-sample causing quantization error, as well as heavy compression causing a sharp loss in quality. Is there a way to either force it to output full quality stereo to the surrounds, or automatically disable them when playing stereo content only? Or is this simply a bug somewhere in the signal chain? My setup is:Apple TV 4K (3rd gen, 2022) → HDMI → LG CX → HDMI eARC → Sonos Beam Gen 2 + 2x One SL as 5.0 surroundConfiguration:Apple TV:Audio Output: Receiver SpeakersAudio Format: Auto, Atmos Available (Change Format: Off)Audio Mode: AutoLG CX:Sound Out: HDMI ARCHDMI Input Audio Format: BitstreamDigital Sound Out: Pass ThrougheARC: onI submitted diagnostic 1294296816
