Hi there,I have a Sonos system with gen1 Beam and a Sub that I use for my TV. I’d like to get rid of the TV and get a projector instead. What do I need to know to ensure that the connection between my devices (the projector, the Beam, and--I assume--my Mocbook Pro, which will probably be the most used source of the audio/video). Are there going to be lag issues? Are there certain types of connectivity that I need to make sure the projector includes? Thanks!
I am unable to control the volume using the receiver. I am using 2 ERA100 speakers and 1 Sonos Ray. I have an RCA going from Sonos Line Out to the receiver SA-CD/CD IN. II have created a Group in the app with the 3 speakers and have the Line set as Fixed in the app. All components connected to wifi. Am I missing something that might cause this not to work?
With the introduction of the Amp Multi and the lack of any hdmi input or atmos support, I thought it might be an interesting conversation to consider why that decision was made. I personally would have liked to seen hdmi input, whether that brings atmos or not, but I can see some reasons why.The primary reason is essentially that home theatre is just not then intended reason the device was made. It’s for whole home audio.Adding hdmi and atmos would be features that many users don’t want and don’t want to pay for. Additional features and use cases like this lead to increased possibility for bugs/issues to occur. The amp multi is designed to be primarily be in a rack far away from a TV, requiring a long hdmi cable. This is 8 channels, or 4 stereo pairs. Home audio setups are usually odd numbered, with a center channel. So either a center channel is missing, or one of the audio channels would be unused. Amp multi is 125W per channel, which is probably overkill for many of the channels
been using Sonos for years and suddenly, 1 week ago, I was not able to update my Music Library (usb connected to the Router as a NAS).Sonos App says “//XXX.XXX.XXX.X/MP3_Router’ is no longer available. The device storing your music files may not be turned on, or the path may have changed.”nothing changed, Router, network, settings…..any idea what it could be?
I know this is a long shot, but is there any chance that Sonos could develop a simple app for WearOS? It wouldn’t even have to be full featured: simple play/pause/ffwd/rew controls would be great. We had a simulacrum of this with the old Sonos app, which correctly registered as a media player with Android so it could be controlled from the notification shade and the lockscreen, which meant it could also be controlled by the watch, but this has been gone ever since the new app came out.
DR radiostationer kan afspilles via Tunein på Sonos S1 anlæg ! Moderator Edit - Translation by Google:DR radio stations can be played via Tunein on Sonos S1 systems!
Preface: My networking skills are not what I’d like them to be. I’ve been referencing the Sonos STP document and Sonos Networking Best Practices guide to try and resolve the issue below. Two questions:With two (of 14) Sonos devices connected to ethernet should SonosNet be split across those two devices? Isn’t that why the Matrix reports some STP blocking and some forwarding? If yes to #1, I need help configuring STP to work that way. Before:After moving to a larger house three years ago and SonosNet was not working great, Sonos tech support instructed me to connect a second Sonos device to ethernet which resolved the network issues. My previous topology was:Managed switch with STP enabled Port 5 → to “dumb” switch → Soundbar Port 6 → to another “dumb” switch → Amp This worked, but unfortunately I don’t remember if or how my 14 Sonos devices were split across those. The Issue: Last week I replaced the dumb switch connected to the Soundbar above with a managed switch. The remaining “dum
Hi everyone, I’m having trouble getting my Sonos Ray to detect the optical signal from my Samsung TV and I’m hoping someone might have seen this before.TV model: Samsung UA65HU8500Soundbar: Sonos RayConnection: Optical (TOSLINK)What’s happeningDuring TV setup in the Sonos app, I keep getting the message “No signal detected.”The TV speakers turn off when I select Audio Out, so the TV is definitely switching to external audio. What I’ve already tried• TV Sound Output set to Audio Out• Digital Audio Output Format set to PCM• TV speakers mute correctly when Audio Out is selected• Optical cable fully seated on both ends• Tried all four orientations of the optical plug on the Ray• Ray’s optical port glows red• The optical cable tip shows red light when unplugged from the Ray, so the TV is sending signal• Ray is online in the Sonos app and works for streaming• Repeated setup multiple times, including skipping the step and retryingThe issueEven though the TV is sending optical signal (confirme
Hi everyone,I wanted to check if anyone else has run into this kind of situation. Over the weekend, I was at home trying to manage a few things at once and noticed how dependent some everyday tasks have become on apps and cloud access. At the same time, I was having trouble checking my Bank balance because the branch was closed and the app was slow to refresh. What stood out was that I also had trouble using certain features in the Sonos app during that period. Music playback worked locally, but account related sections and some controls were slow or failed to load until the connection stabilized again. It made the whole experience feel fragile when multiple services are slightly degraded rather than fully offline.I am curious how others here handle situations like this. Do you rely on local playback setups or specific Sonos app settings to reduce dependency on real time service access? I am trying to understand how much resilience I can realistically expect from the system during parti
Hi Sonos users,I used to have Play 3 surrounds along with a Beam gen 1 + sub gen 1. I’ve now replaced the play 3’s with era 100 surrounds. I noticed the surrounds didn’t sound as good with the Era 100’s as they did with the Play 3’s. After a bit of reading, I learnt that I should change the digital audio out format on my tv from stereo (uncompressed) to Multichannel (bypass). My TV is a Phillips. This has improved the surround quality from the era 100’s when I’m watching normal channels. However, now when I want to watch Amazon Prime Video, the speakers don’t work unless I change the settings back to stereo (uncompressed). I didn’t have to do this with the Play 3’s. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know why my new set up requires this settings change? Thanks
Screen black outs happen intermittently when Arc connected and running PS5 or BluRay Player. How do I fix it as it was never an issue before? This started suddenly fall of 2025 with no changes to set up. Samsung TV.
Was having trouble giving Sonos S1 access to my iTunes library hosted on TrueNAS Community Edition 25.10.1 (Goldeye) and figured it out with information from this forum and the TrueNAS forum, so posting this to help others that are also struggling.Step 1: Configure the SMB service in TrueNAS to “Enable SMB1 support” and “NTLMv1 Auth”. Security folks will tell you this is insecure, and it is in 2026. Anyhow, let’s continue.Step 2: Create your SMB share in TrueNAS and give it proper permissions (not documented here. If you are using TrueNAS you probably know how to do this already)Step 3: In the SONOS app, add the TrueNAS network share to your music library.Step 4: Wait for music to syncStep 5: Try to play music from your library. You should be able to browse your collection, but when you go to play a file, it will fail with “Unable to play <song file>, access to <network share> denied”Step 6: Go to your shell in TrueNAS and run:cliservice smb update smb_options="unix extensi
Ever since the 2024 update I have had issues with my Sonos system, but not a big enough problem to warrant taking drastic action. But the inability of the system to play a nice selection of Christmas music over the holidays has even had my wife saying the Sonos is a waste of time and money.Hence, it’s time to do something about it.I have had a good read at the comments about “downgrading from S2 to S1. These articles do appear to be, in some cases nearly 12 months old.May I ask if it would be possible for someone to verify my understanding of what is required to “drop” back to the original S1 app functionality. All my devices are S1 compatible as they are typically 5+ years old.All I want is my system to respond as it used to do, play the music I want and not drop speakers for days on end, only to then magically find the speaker again and play some random music. My understanding is: -Download the original S1 app to another device to avoid confusion. Not sure if there is a particular ver
I ran into the exact same issue people outlined in another thread now closed of a similar title. I managed to solve it for €30 and have so far not run into any issues. I used a HDMI splitter where the EDID can be set to tell the UB820 to output multichannel PCM (as it seems the C9 tells it to output stereo). I plugged the UB820 output into the splitter input and then the output of the splitter to the TV (not into the Sonos ARC). I have an LG C9 and Sonos ARC and I'm now getting Dolby atmos with atmos discs and 7.1 LPCM with DTS MA/HD (haven’t tested DTS X yet) discs. No issues with Dolby vision either. I set the splitter not to copy the EDID of the tv (as this is the issue) but set it to the Dolby Atmos/vision/7.1 EDID setting. UB820 set to PCM for DTS (secondary audio to off). C9 set to eARC and pass through. Great solution to the PCM 2.0 issue for 30 quid. This is the splitter -> ROFAVEZCO HDMI 2.0Splitter 4k 60hz 1080p 120hz (EDID 7.1 setting). Available on Amazon UK. Maybe som
Note! This was discussed previously but the request was misunderstood by Sonos staff so I’m creating a new topic.Sonos used to support Last.fm scrobbling (i.e. Track My Music – storing the user’s listening history to the Last.fm service) but this was deprecated in the new app. Please re-enable scrobbling.Info: https://www.last.fm/about/trackmymusic – they even list Sonos on that page :(
Is anybody else experiencing certain Dolby Atmos music tracks where you can barely hear the vocals? I have come across this quite often recently with Dire Straits Sultans of Swing being the most recent. Could this be a Sonos issue with playback of certain songs where the vocals practically disappear? I can't imagine Mark Knopfler approving the release of this song sounding this way. Any thoughts or feedback?
My Xbox used to play through my Sonos Arc but won’t any longer. I have an HDMI port connected to my tv
The title says it all - why can I not find podcasts via any music streaming service in the Sonos app? I found a lot of comments saying it was Spotify’s code but it is the same for apple music and tidal which leads me to believe it might be something on Sonos’ side? Or did one service just say no to allowing it and the others followed suit? Either way it seems odd and frustrating because it doesn’t allow me to use my Sonos system to its full capability. I have to Spotify connect to a speaker or group, but then if I want to play a song somewhere else in the home, Spotify pauses the podcast and won’t allow two simultaneous things playing. What is the reason behind no podcast support?
I get “operation failed” when I try to like a song on Pandora
The system is Arc - Sub 3 - 300s. While playing a Dolby Atmos playlist I created using Apple Music the sound drops out. When I try to pause I get the message “Unable to pause…”. When I try to clear the queue I get the message “Unable to clear Queue…”. Sent diagnostics. Would not be thrilled about attempting to call. Is that the only way to get results of the diagnostics?
I’ve recently updated my Sonos Move (1 gen)-S2 to latest software. I use it as speaker connecting via Bluetooth to google TV streamer 4K. I have no issue prior to update for 4 years of usage. But after the update, everytime i pause and resume video/music playback, the sounds only come out after 5-7 seconds as reported by other users in this thread. I just want to share that i found solution by downgrading it to S1 via the mobile app in case anyone experiencing the same issue and dont want to accept lame answers “it wasn’t designed for video audio over bluetooth”.
I have seen many conversations one this forum but they have all been closed after being “answered” - in sufficiently. Like others who have posted, I am tech savvy and have been in the IT business for decades. The Sonos app is without question the worst app that I have ever dealt with. It seems that every time that I go to use my system, I have to reset the whole thing. I have 5 components, a playbar, 2 play 1 s, a connect, and a subwoofer to support surround sound 5.1 . Most recently after resetting all components and setting them up, the system does not work at all except that my playbar recognizes the physically connected TV. Forgetting the fact that setup is a pain (it asks for my wifi password once for every component, has multiple “continues”, etc. it simply doesn’t work. I am using an up to date Android on a Samsung and upto date Sonos App and a 2.4Ghz wifi (which required for my older Sonos equipment). It would be nice if the APP told me what it tried to do, how far i
Je possède déjà 4 produits Sonos. Et je souhaite acquérir la Move 2.Mais voilà, Trump, Groenland, droits de douane, intimidations…Dommage, ça attendra.
I have the Arc Ultra but I’m disappointed when I play music Blu-rays with Atmos. I am getting Atmos according to the app but in most cases I’m finding that vocals and drums are very low in the mix and sound echoey. I saw something on social media saying that the audio output on my tv should be set to prioritise pass through. I’ve checked my tv and it is set to auto. Is it worth changing this setting. Before I go mucking about with the tv settings I’m just wondering if this will cure my vocal problems from Blu-rays. Thanks in advance
I’m a die hard Sonos supporter. My system works as it should. However nothing is perfect.I’d like to see Sonos (if possible) do something to improve the microphone sensitivity for voice assistants. I have three Arc Ultra’s and all have difficulty picking up a request when audio is playing. Ironically, my Move 2’s are much more sensitive to picking up a voice command when playing audio.I don’t believe this is an issue where I need to submit a diagnostic. I’m well enough familiar with Sonos to know when an issue is not a glitch but something that may be corrected via a firmware update unless it is hardware based. If hardware then I’ll have to wait for the Arc Ultra Plus 😂.But seriously, hopefully the Moderators can push this as a low-level concern but one that would be most appreciated if addressed.
