My Xbox used to play through my Sonos Arc but won’t any longer. I have an HDMI port connected to my tv

The Sonos needs to be connected to the HDMI port on the TV labeled ARC or eARC. The XBox should be connected to any other HDMI port.

That didn’t work for me. I have my Sonos Soundbar connected to my LG tv via HDMI eArc and the Xbox connected to the tv via hdmi. Still don’t hear anything

What signal is your Xbox sending to the TV? Which LG TV do you have? What are the audio settings in it? Which Sonos soundbar do you have?

The XBox needs to be sending a signal that can get through the TV, and one that can be interpreted by the Sonos. CEC needs to be turned on in the TV’s settings, so the Sonos soundbar can tell the TV what types of signals it can accept, and the TV can tell the XBox.

In most cases, this is seamless. However, some TVs struggle with the implementation of CEC, so it’s wise to double check all the settings. Sonos seems to have implemented their CEC compliance properly, unfortunately not all TV manufacturers have, perhaps in an effort to extend functionality for their own equipment. And of course, if CEC is turned off, the ‘computer’ inside the TV can’t read or communicate any of the necessary information back and forth.

And, I should mention cabling….older HDMI cables don’t necessarily carry data back to the Sonos . If you’ve used older HDMI (or too long) cables to connect to the Sonos, it would be receiving any ARC data at all. Always use newer, or Sonos cables.
