Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

I'm not referring to the capabilities of casting from Play Music, I'm referring to being able to cast from ANY application that supports casting in general. This would also allow pairing of Google Cast devices with Sonos devices, and open up the ecosystem for Sonos to many more apps and services. In addition, the hardware already exists, as the setup process is identical to non-Sonos devices. This would be a huge boon to me, as I'm an all-out Google person and will be switching to Google Cast devices if support isn't added.
Our two young girls (6 and 😎 love using Sonos, but I'm concerned as to what they have access to, in terms of content, and also settings. It's also quite easy to get lost. We have Sonos through the house, except their bedrooms, for obvious reasons. I think Sonos should consider developing a child friendly app that has certain permissions (for example can only play music from a local NAS, or stream music from Spotify that is child related). Alternatively, and probably easier to develop, a permissioned adult could create fix/locked playlist/s that the Kids App could access and play from, but nothing else. Limits on volume levels would also be a handy feature!
I have the Harmony Ultimate remote that I'm using with my Sonos Playbase which for the most-part works really great! The issue I'm having is when the TV is first turned on there is a delay of several minutes before the volume becomes controllable with the Harmony remote. I've checked and rechecked my connections several times and still have the issue when the TV is first turned on. I get TV sound immediately, but I don't get control of the volume or mute for several minutes. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any information you can pass along.
My main user account that I use to log into my Mac does not have administrative privileges. So every time I start the controller I have to enter my admin user name and password for network access. This is annoying. Is there a way to fix this? PS This problem is at least 5 years old (persisted thru a number of Controller updates and OSX updates/installations). Happens on my my MacPro and MacBook Pro. Thanks for your help Olaf
I have downloaded the sonos controller to my new iPad and the is no crossfade option. I have sonos on my PC and android phone and the crossfade is there. I am using Apple Music.
I have a subscription to Soma FM but only a few of their streams are freely available in Tunein so I have added them to My Radio Stations. However, I would like to see the pic that comes with the url, anyone know how I can add it? I presume there is an underlying database that might be accessed, scuse the pun.....
Hello Sonos community, I have an issue with connecting Sonos speakers directly from the Google Play Music app (not the Sonos app). Sometimes after I connect a Sonos speaker I get the message that music can not be played. I then need to disconnect and connect again (and sometimes do this a third time). Only after this second or third try it works and streaming starts. Do you know this issue and can you help? I am using Samsung Galaxy Tab (Android) and all apps have the latest updates. I have Sonos bridge, Playbar and Play:1. Issue shows up for both speakers. Sonos Net is on channel 6 and router on channel 11. Connecting the speakers with Sonos app e.g. for radio works without issues. Best regards Wolfram
Can I use Sonos from my Chromebook?
I've owned Sonos for several years and it has been a constant pain. Compatability with Audible was a joke, compatability with Spotify was and still is a joke. The newest thing is that Sonos loses connection to players every day, and I have to go through the setup over and over again, for some reason it takes forever to find a player the older gen player - (indicative of Sonos attitude toward its customers.) While the sound on the system is great, everything else fails completely.
iTunes shows a notification when a new track starts. Sonos Controller for Mac could do the same thing, it shouldn't be hard!
Hello all, Hope you don't mind me posting here, I'd love your feedback and hopefully this is a product you'll be interested to talk about. I have Sonos in my home, but found it frustrating to keep unlocking my phone to turn speakers on and off all the time. I have been working hard (on my own) over the last year to create a system which uses radio frequency sensors (£7) to control all of my smart devices. You can check it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1109816630/trajectio-motion-powered-hue-and-sonos-smart-home Would love to hear your feedback.
I got a new router and am having trouble connecting my soundbar. I don't see an advanced settings in my app and really do no want to take the soundbar off of the wall where it is mounted and haul it upstairs where the router is to connect directly. There has got to be an easier way than manually connecting it. Ideas?
I would like to play audio files on my Ubuntu PC to my Sonos system but haven't known how to do it. Have just come across the VLV Media Player (Ubuntu). I believe it could stream media to my Sonos but don't know how to do it. Any suggestions?
I recently bought a new macbook pro and I had sonos installed on my macbook. My macbook pro does not have a disc drive so I need help knowing how to install it on.
My Sonos is reading My Music Library from my WD MyCloud NAS just fine. I have a 'Top Rated' playlist created in iTunes. iTunes itself even reads it from the NAS as opposed to direct from the library on my iMac. I've exported it as an m3u file and imported it into Sonos. Sonos even lists all the tracks. BUT, when I try to play it, Sonos cycles through only finding 1 track to play. I can't export the Playlist within iTunes when the MyCloud is selected as the source; it's greyed out. I can only export the playlist from iTunes when 'This Computer' is selected. Any advice would be appreciated.
keep getting the message "network speed insufficient to maintain playback buffer" when i play music from library on pc, internet radio works fine
The controller works fine full screen but when changing the windows size it does not resize all the elements. Sometimes a minimise and restore sorts it but not others. This has been an issue with v5 and 6. No other apps corrupt like this.
A Sonos user would like to disable the hard buttons on his Sonos devices via the Sonos Controller. For exemple when he is having a party home he want to avoid his friend to modify the volume level or pause the music. What do you think about it?
Hi , iam new here i have just bought a Play 5 - gen1. By any chance are you considering giving preset Equalisers in the app. Just could be good for different genres. I love the product.
I recently updated one of my computers from Mac OS Sierra 10.12.3 to 10.12.4 and all seemed fine until I tried to use the Sonos Controller and it can't see my system - no problem from other computers or iOS devices. Tried all the recommended troubleshooting steps not realizing it might have been the Mac system update. Then today I updated another machine and the Sonos Controller won't work there either. I'm starting to sense a pattern! Has anyone else seen this? Any thoughts? Thank-you. ric
When is The Think With alaxa and sonos comes out?
I have a Sonos playbar configured for surround with dual play:1s and sub plus a standalone play:1 in an alternate room. These are all setup on a wireless network. The wireless network using a Linksys LAPAC1750 access point with a Cisco DPC3827 Docsis Gateway on the frontend. The wireless network is configured with dual band radios on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. These share the same SSID and same WPA2 passphrase. The networks are configured with band steering. Devices with connect to the 5ghz radio are unable to discover the Sonos systems (connected to the 2.4ghz radio). Devices on the 2.4ghz radio and on the wired network are able to discover the Sonos system without issue. How can I allow devices connected to the 5ghz radio to discover the Sonos system?
Copied from another thread, courtesy of jgatie - full question was: "Do you believe digital audio, outside of mastering/production techniques, can be improved by playback resolutions greater than 16/44.1?"
I have Sonos controller apps listed from old computers and tablets that I no longer own. Though I have reformatted those drives and tablets before I got rid of them they still show up in my account. I'm concerned because I know that you can only have a certain number of registered controllers for your account. I would like to clean that list up. How can I remove them from my account Thank you Tony
A linux controller for the Sonos system is really needed. A basic controller shouldn't be that hard to create, so even if the userbase is smaller then for Windows there shouldn't be a cost-reason to not do this. The strength of Sonos is ease-of use, and a user that -for instance- prefers Ubuntu will be left to use his/her phone.
