There have been recent posts on pairing issues with the Move (in a second instance) which came down to just understanding how the Move works. In both instances the user was trying to pair the Move to a second device. Once the Move is paired to a device it remembers that device automatically. So it you first paired your Move to your cell phone and later want to pair it to an iPad it may not pair; if both devices are in range. Meaning it will pair to the cell phone and ignore the iPad.The solution is to turn off the BT on the cell phone which will force the Move to recognize in this case the iPad and pair with it. After the successful pairing with the iPad you may turn the BT back on for the iPhone. The Move going forward will always pair first with the last device it was paired to if both devices are in range. If the last device is not in range it will select the next remembered device. You might say that that logic might be problematic in a household with multiple devices pairing to the M
Can someone please confirm the following points,I am confused with coments on the subject.I am currently using Amazon music unlimited on my system.(a play 5 and two play ones in stereo grouped to kitchen and living room.)If I upgrade to Amazon hd, will the higher quality stream take affect.Do I need to delete and reinstate the Amazon music service from the Sonos app.Confirmation would be much appreciated.
My main phone broke recently so as a stop gap till I can afford a new one I have gone back to using my old HTC desire of about 8 years vintage. This runs a lowly version 2 of android. I also have a sightly newer tablet that runs v4. The sonos app wont work on these devices it says it isn't compatible and that I should upgrade my operating system. This is obviously not possible. How can I operate my sonos with these older devices. It is currently sitting there dead as I cant use it. Is there an older version of the sonos app that I can download to use on these devices even if it doesn't have all the modern functionality so at least I can turn the system on and off an select something to play? Thanks. Keith.
Playing my CDs via Sonos Connect has been problematic ever since I bought it 2 weeks ago. First it would not work and then one day it did work. Although the Sonos app on my iPhone SE showed the CD player running, there was no sound - Sometimes! On one occasion it was playing my CD and suddenly went silent even though the app still showed it playing. Next I re-installed the Sonos app on my iPhone SE but it did not fix the fault. Then I installed the app on my wife's iPhone SE and it would not work on that device either. My son installed the Sonos app on his Samsung Galaxy S8 and it worked perfectly. I also installed the app on our iPad and that also worked perfectly. Clearly there is an issue (conflict?) between the latest Sonos app and the latest iOS on the iPhone SE. I can live with using the iPad but would prefer to use my iPhone to control my Sonos system. I wonder if anyone knows of a fix? Chris
This is really frustrating. I have a Sonos One, a Connect hooked to the main stereo and 2 Play 5s. Usually, I control things by yelling at Alexa but today I was in the kitchen and grabbed my iPad. Searched for Stan Getz, found the album and pushed play. As the music started on the Play 5 closest to me, I saw a popup saying 'some of your devices are hooked to a wifi extender and may not play correctly.' The message was right; I only had sound out of one of the four devices. I checked the app, all 4 devices were selected but no sound out of 3 of them. I moved the volume sliders up and down, nothing. The iPad was hooked to the main wireless network, so is everything else. The only reason I even have an extender is because I have a cable TiVo that must have an ethernet connection to update the guide. Yeah, I don't get that, either. At any rate, I updated all the software, shut the iPad off, tried to start music with Alexa, tried from my iPhone and my desktop. Only one Play 5 would play.
Im frustrated with my Sonos system! I always have to restart my router, restart my phone and then open the Sonos app in order to get the app to recognize the WI-FI and allow me to control the sound. I've called into customer service but they couldn't help correct the problem except to elude it's my internet provider's issue, however all my streaming services work and so do my other apps when I use my WiFi. It's a Sonos issue and they won't recognize it. We either need to hardwire or be able to use Bluetooth.
The discussion about export, import, backup and sharing playlists is at least 6 years old and diverse in requested functionality. In the 6 years I use SONOS this topic continues to pop up... There are lots of threads, questions, answers and frustrations on the theme, often asking different functionality. There are also 3rd party tips and tricks to be found in the forums but none of them is really easy - or they simply don't work anymore. . I know from my ICT experience import and export is very difficult and tricky functionality. So I can imagine SONOS stays away from import/export functionality to avoid trouble. So decided to put the question another way. What I ask in this request is a VERY BASIC function: just make it possible to make a plain text file from a playlist, just holding the songname, artist and album title as they are displayed while playing. Either as a pop-up or as a small file to desktop or set destination. PLEASE support this question as much as possible: lots of
The kids can control our tv through their playstation, and sometimes do so by accident even. We have 1 network and don't plan on getting an extra one just because of a super basic feature which should be a very fundamental thing... I was planning on buying all the extra speakers, surround sound and subwoofer too, but no chance now. It's 2020, and like many other people are saying also, even coffee machines have password protection on wifi's... Interesting to see that this basic request has been an issue for hundreds of people using Sonos hardware I've seen on here alone, beyond 2006 ! Sono's make a lot of money.. please listen to your consumers in future. It really isn't much to ask.
3 minutes ago I see I'm not the only one with this problem - the latest update seems to have caused the app to consume more battery than the screen, even with notifications and lock screen off! I've had no choice but to uninstall the app as killing it, clearing cache etc, none of the usual things fixes it.
Like many users, we use Sonos in two different houses. We have two NAS's of music that I'm planning on keeping synchronized with RSYNC. What doesn't sync or cant get exported are Sonos Playlists. It would be great to be able to ad-hoc export them and then to import them as well. Using the UPnP interface, I've noted a Java program that can export playlists, but importing them is a bit troublesome. It would be great to have this feature.
Hi everyone, We are at home Sonos users we have 4 play:1 and a sonos connect. They are both used by my husband and I who have different uses: He uses sonos for music and use only spotify which work absolutely fine for him; Me: I barely uses spotify, my main use of sonos are for podcasts (for which I use the pocketcast app and it works well) and audiobooks and this where I have a problem with Sonos. Let me explain, when I listen to an audiobook (well they can very lengthy (50 hours say)) I lose my position in the audiobook everytime my husband later in the day take over the sonos to play a song on Spotify. This is so frustrating, this is my only complaint but it’s a huge one because this why I use Sonos. Is there any way to “bookmark” where you are at in file and come back to it if spotify has been used? Is there an app ? I have testing adding my audio files to google play and no luck I can’t keep my position on audio file, my nas is connected to to sonos and again no luck.
I'm using my Sonos since last Thursday, and it all work very great. However, I've got a small problem including my Last.FM music service. I added my Last.FM account on thursday, and it started "double scrobbling" all the songs that I listen to. I remember that since a couple of months Last.FM-account is connected to your Spotify-account, so I realised that I probably don't need to add the Last.FM service on my Sonos. However, when I turned Last.FM on my Sonos "off", it stopped scrobbling at all. When I turn it back on it starts double scrobbling again. Anyone got any idea how to fix this?
The new MacBook Pro from 2018 utilises a touch bar to replace buttons and it also adds the possibility of controlling the music from the keyboard. It would be great to be able to use controls via the touch bar similar to Spotify to control Sonos. Can this be implemented
Hi all, What Android tablet would you recommend for use with sonos app? Do you think the Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab would be OK to use? Thanks for all input! Regards Edvardsen
I was wondering, if I bought a Sony walkman that runs Android and install the Sonos app, will the hard buttons like play/forward/reverse and volume works to control Sonos?
Apparently this is a popular request so I’m adding my voice. I have multiple speakers in one room (Play 5 and a stereo pair of One). I want to assign them all to the same room (permanent group). This should be fairly easy (like Apple Home or Phillips Hue) to have different names for the speaker but assign them all to the same room/group.
Please support keyboard shortcuts in the macOS controller app Given that the app is the currently playing media application: Spacebar: toggle play/pause Cmd + Up/Down arrow: increase/decrease volume Cmd + Left/Right: Previous/Next track Mac's media playback buttons should also work as expected
I've been using Sonos with an old MacBook Pro with reasonable success for the last 4 years or so. Suddenly the Sonos player on the Mac can't run unless I update it. I can't update it unless I update the Mac's operating system. I can't update the operating system on this particular MacBook Pro because it's too old. Why can't I simply run the previous version of Sonos? I'm not going to buy a new Mac just so my 2 Sonos speakers can work. That's insane. Any thoughts?
Halfway through my trueplay tuning while walking around the room, the app stops and reports a “lost speaker.” I can’t finish the tuning repeatedly. My sub and playbase are both functioning. Any ideas? I’m on iPhone X and iOS 11.4. Thanks
Why does SONOS force me to do updates? Nearly EVERY update I do fails and I spend about 1 hour then, re-booting, routers, Wi-Fi, my 11 Sonos components. It's a lie that this takes 2-3 minutes. It may do when it works with 1-2 components but not with more (shall we say) fully invested customers. I tried this morning, and it failed. I do NOT need to do this update - I do not want, and will not buy a Beam, so please leave me alone please to enjoy Sonos. SONOS's arrogant update policies are driving me away from Sonos. Even Apple doesn't force people to update. I cannot control Sonos currently from my devices (only the Computer). Stop it. I am the customer, and I bought a working product. It's not working now on my devices due to SONO's stupid and arrogant policy. I used to love Sonos, and, when it works it's great, BUT, I would only recommend Sonos now to anyone who is prepared to be forced to update software AND to suffer the consequences of failures if there is an upgrade.
I have a Galaxy s10 Plus that cannot connect to an existing Sonos system. I can only control Sonos thru a hardwired desktop PC. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app., it just cannot find the system. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I have been a beta tester for MacOS 10.15 (Catalaina). I didn't ever notice that it did not run with Sonos. When will you have a compatible version of the Mac app??
hi all, is it possible to implement some sort of "parent controls" where speakers can be restricted from being used? so examples are: if someone pushes play everywhere and that turns on a speaker in a room where someone is trying to sleep. so maybe some time limits scheduled so that speaker can't be used during night time etc kids have their own speaker in their room, but only have rights to control that speaker not the whole house. parents have control over the whole system. disabling play everywhere so other people's music cannot be overridden by someone pushing play everywhere. locking speakers to a controller. someone is listening to music in a room and only their phone or computer can change the music in that room. i think there are plenty of uses for setting rights and permissions over sonos speakers and controllers but i can't seem to find any implementation in the sonos app. am i looking in the wrong place or is this not a feature? thanks
Hi there, I recently got a Sonos Play. However, I was really disappointed to see that the app is very slow and takes a while to stream my spotify songs. How do I overcome this?
I have thre differnt AndroidTV devices two complettly stock version and one from China that is rooted. On the two std ones the Sonos App is not available in the Google Playstore, the store claim the devices isn´t compatible, but the Rooted Chinese one works. Could you please open up for Android TV in you appregistration.
