Hello fellow Sonos fans, Although I am a huge fan of Sonos, there is a problem that's bothering me. I know I'm not the first person to ask for 5GHz support on Sonos speakers, but I hope this time we can engage in a constructive discussion. I also hope for Sonos employees to get involved. What feature am I asking for? The possibility to connect 5GHz compatible Sonos Speakers directly to 5GHz wi-fi. Before anyone rushes to come up with any reason why this is not Sonos' strategy, let me tell you a few things. I'm a network engineer, specialized in wi-fi. I live in a crowded area in the centre of a reasonably big city. My 50 sq m apartment only has 2 rooms. The spectrum is crowded with wi-fi networks, certainly in 2.4GHz but also 5GHz has a few channels that should probably be avoided. Therefore I only use 5GHz wi-fi for my main devices and even have 2 accesspoints. There is a 2.4GHz network present for devices like printers etc. Let's just say wi-fi is excellent in my home. Everything
This screen is frozen and wont respond. I can only add songs or albums to my library play function stopped working 2 days ago. Nothing will play through my sonos app.
Yesterday Sonos removed “from this device” function from my apple iPhone. From their previous communications I knew this was coming but hoped that they would leave it as an option, even as a somewhat flawed option. I am aware of the workaround fixes, they do not fit my needs. I have a NAS, my library there contains thousands of additional music files that are not on my phone. I do not wish to hear most of them on a regular rotation nor do I wish to search thought them everytime I would like to hear a particular song or artist. Additionally, the “from this device” was great for the Speakers in my children’s rooms as there is material on my NAS library that is not suitable for them, but they could play freely from their devices, on which I manage the content. There will be people who respond that say this is just one minor feature, but the number of threads on this topic indicate that the use of this feature is widespread throughout the customer base. There will be people who respond
Hello. Can i add more Than 2 speakers to the same room?
So I upgraded my sonos controller on macos 10.10 because it wouldn't let me go ahead without doing that and now I get the message "The Software on this device is outdated.... blah blah blah." If I understand this correctly, I need to throw out my perfectly working 17" MBP and buy a new one because the economy needs a boost? Can you check if you can also somehow disable my sonos speakers so I have to buy new ones too? Or is that too much to ask? Snark aside: how do I get my music playing now given that I will not be upgrading either my laptop or my mobile?
what can I replace it with? SONOS has been down for almost a year over this, the installer I used says SONOS no longer works with apple products. what have other people done to get the system working again, its an extensive installation with amps, speakers throughout out the home. maybe there is some after market software that can restore the use of older IPADS? the weird thing is it works off my iPhone, but i want to use the in wall IPADS again. any suggestions much appreciated, I did search the topic and its seems there are only pissed off customers and no solutions. I need a solution. Many thanks in advance.
Hi folks, I have three first gen Play 5’s and a Bridge in my Sonos system. I understand that the Sonos controller will soon not work from my iPad with my Sonos system and that for AirPlay to work from my iPad I need compatible speakers, which first gen Play 5’s are not. My question is : Can I purchase one compatible Sonos speaker and playback on my iPad using AirPlay and how my 3 existing first gen Play 5’s in with it? Cheers. David
Hello, A couple of weeks ago I gave a party at home for my friends. Ofcourse I used Sonos as my entertainment system. But because all my friends are connected to the home wifi they also can controll the music. So every 10 seconds a new song is putt on. And I find this very anoying. So I thaught it would be nice if there was a "Party Mode" so that only one device is autorised to controll the music. It would be a nice feature for the next update.
I have searched and this type of functionality is not only frequently brought up here but frankly is long overdue. We have 12 Zones and really need a way to set a scene/preset where we can tap "Pool Party" for example and a saved grouping and volume level is automatically loaded - ideally would like to be able to specify a specific playlist or station play as well. This seems to be a pretty simple add to the controller app. I am really questioning why this feature does not exist.
I am trying to add my music from iTunes on my mac to listen through the sonos system, but the message above keeps coming up. My firewall is not turned on, so i can not adjust anything there. I have tried to delete the library and then retry loading it, but i get that message, once i go past the lock window. On my old mac book pro everything worked fine ( i had to replace this with a new mac book, because of a motherboard failure), but no luck on my new one ?? Please help Steve
I refer to the fact that Sonos just announce, with no thought whatsoever, that they are dropping support for IOS devices. I think this is absolutely disgusting and totally abhorrent. What a way to treat loyal customers. I have Play 1 speakers and the big white box that sits under the tv. I spent a lot of money on this, which , as a pensioner living alone I had to struggle to find. The kit is only just over a year old. It is now going to be useless. Then there is the vast amount I have shelled out buying the music to play on Sonos from ITunes. Well over a grand and you just blithely announce I won’t be able to play this music any more. This is a disgrace. An absolutely diabolical disgrace. I do not play the music in any other way, only on Sonos. My evenings are now going to be distinctly quiet. I needed Sonos to remain sane. What a total waste of money. What absolute swines Sonos are. Your pathetic alternatives are just that - pathetic. Buy some new speakers. Absolute insulting nonsense
I am not sure if this should happen but if i use my iPhone Sonos app to play music I can control that series of tracks with my apple watch. I can change the volume, pause and skip tracks plus i get the track names. I cannot add to the playlist or change the speakers or have access to the library. It does not work with iPads or laptops. It seems that once the iPhone app has been opened then the watch can be used. witch does seem logical. I have an original watch series 0 and an iPhone 5s
I have two Play 1 speakers and a Play 3 speaker. The latest announcement regarding the loss of support for iOS has me wishing I had bought Bose instead. That said however, since I’ve spent all this money how do I continue to be able to play music on my system from my iPhone? If I get additional Sonos One speakers that ARE AirPlay compatible can I connect to them and use THEM as a conduit to have my iPhone play throughout my entire system, AirPlay compatible or not? If not then I guess if I want to continue to play my iPhone through my Sonos system I will have to submit to the financial extortion from Sonos and buy some additional component like the Connect Amp? Aside from selling all of the Sonos equipment and going to Bose, which I am definitely open to and considering, what are my options?
Hello. My name is Ben Smith and I head up Product Management for Experience, Software, and Developer Programs at Sonos. I wanted to get more feedback from you all on your expectations for Shuffling tracks in your queue. I have reviewed the feedback on ask.sonos.com and received e-mails from a few of you (via our CEO John MacFarlane), but I wanted to get a better sense from those of you who use Shuffle, how your really want it to work. When you select shuffle what do you want to happen? What don't you want to happen? Thanks! Ben
Can anyone out there tell me how to transfer my Sonos playlist to my Napster playlist? I’m going crazy trying to do it but I am unsuccessful. Please help!!
Hello. I need my system downgraded to 9.3.1since my Ipad controllers does not work with the latest version !! Please explain how to
I was considering getting a Sonos connect to connect to my AV receiver. The one thing I'd like to be able to do is if I wanted to listen to Sonos through that stereo do I have to power on the equipment selected the input and then I'll have access to playing Sonos through it? I was kind of hoping the Sonos connect could wake up or power on the AV receiver.
I can link my Alexa account with Vodafone and this allows me to make phone calls but only on amazon Alexa devices. My sonos speakers unfortunately do not come up as an option, any plans to get this changed? As I have sonos ones all over the house this would be a great feature to have for me and I can imagine many others too.
Hi - I've just set up a Play 5 Gen 2 and logged in to my Google Home Mini (Assistant) to link it (including my Spotify account), but when I ask to play a song it still plays on the mini, not the Sonos. I've asked it to play in a specific room (kitchen) and only get "Sorry, I can't do that yet" from the assistant. Anyone had this issue before?
Hello everyone! I have sonos vlanned and working well with my Android app from my home network to my iot network. On my iphone app, I seem to have to stay on the IOT network or the app loses the ability to control music that is already playing. It can start new songs, but not pause or stop them. Once the phone gets rebooted, the sonos app loses sight of the system. I setup the sonos originally on Android. I can use both phones at the same time on the same network and only IOS has this issue. On Android I have no problems joining IOT to adopt a new speaker, switching back to home, and the app works smoothly every time. An ideas to get my IOS device working as well as my Android device? Thanks for any help.
Hi, I'm a real Sonos fan, I like the service very much. But unfortunately I think there's one very basic feature missing that would make our life so much easier. I had this situation time and again, I wanna watch a video from my pc or phone, I wanna stream a youtube video or a movie on my pc or phone, or even listen to my voice notes, and I wanna stream it to my Sonos speaker in whatever room I am now. I was looking for solutions here on the community, and while there is some complicated solutions to solve this problem for a computer it's not easy, and I didn't found yet a solution for a phone/tablet. the best solution would be Sonos should add in the desktop and mobile app version a feature: broadcast your device sound to stream all sound from this device to the Sonos speaker of the room you choose, just like a bluetooth speaker. It's ironic actually, that Sonos is investing so much effort to add all streaming services to fit the need of everyone, when this solution will automati
Hello. Right now I'm using the speaker in my baby's room. He needs white noise to fall asleep and remain sleep throughout the night. But after a couple of hours, the speaker just stops. I have to turn it on twice every night. And the baby' sleep it's not great... I can't find a setting to change this. What can I do? Thank you Erick
The instructions for adding a new music source say to "go to the manage function". I can't find that function the mac version of the Sonos controller. What am I missing?
In the last few months I have had issues with the Sonos iPhone app - when searching for a song or artist, the results are only coming from my Music Library - in the past, the Spotify results would also appear. There is nothing wrong with my Spotify account - I can still play songs on my Sonos speakers from the Spotify App but strangely, not from my Sonos app. I see I am not the only one with this issue - but until now I have not seen any solution.
Add a feature so that Sonos can display lyrics for songs - maybe hook into Tunewiki or something similar.
