Will SONOS be adding Airplay 2 capability for the PLAY 1 speaker?
Hello All, Recently i update my Sonos as 5.1 by adding a PlayBase with my Existing Sub and 2 Sonos One, plus i have a Play5 too, the new setup works great for movies with 5.1 content, but i lost lot of volume and bass while listing music, my main usage is listing music (mostly), for music a Sub and two Sonos One is a best combination i think , but i cant use that setting any more, since Sonos App wont allow us to use Same Sets Speakers with Diff Groups, i know we can do this " set the surrounds to Full for music in the Settings > Room Settings > (room name) > Surround Settings menu. " still its not the same effect we use to get the with 2 Sonos One with One Sub, Since my profession is software development, i know its not that hard to implement in Software rather buying more speakers for a small apartment like mine.
I have my entire music library - 35,000+ songs on shuffle in my queue. Is there any way to save my place? It's kind of a pain to scroll down so many songs after going away from it.
Hi all, I have released a Sonos controller for the web browser. It’s still in development, but I think you’ll really enjoy it. Merry Christmas! Check it out here: https://github.com/Villarrealized/sonos-web
Hello: I have a desktop computer, use Google Chrome browser and Windows 7. I have the Sonos app located on my desktop. I download individual songs and put them into a folder located on my desktop as well and use VLC Media Player to play the songs. I have created a number of playlists within my Sonos app but find that the songs, when playing my playlists, play at different volumes, some songs louder than others. As a result I often have to adjust the volume on the Play1 speaker because a song plays either too loud or too low. I have gone into the tools, preferences, audio and filter section of my VLC Media Player and checked off "volume normalizer" but that has not made a difference. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to solve this volume issue so that the playback songs within my Sonos playlists play at equal volume, thereby eliminating me having to either turn the volume up or down depending on whether a song is too loud or not loud enough during playback? Appreciate any help in this m
Since the iPhone app and Play:1 were last updated, the iPhone app now takes longer to find the Play initially. Then, if I want to pause or resume playing, I get a message saying the app can't find the Sonos device and I have to try again two or three times. Similarly, if I try to change or mute/unmute the volume using the iPhone app, this can take up to around 15 seconds to happen. Note that this had been working perfectly since I got the Play:1 at the start of the year - it's just been in the past few weeks that this annoying behaviour has started happening. As far as I'm aware, nothing environmental has changed (ie WiFi is the same router which hasn't been rebooted for a few months) The phone is an iPhone 7 running the current iOS update with app version 10.3, build 51166240. The Play:1 has the same build version as the iOs app, hardware version 1.20.1.6-2 and is connected over WiFi to my home network on the same net as the phone uses.
I have a semi open-plan living area with Soundbar, Sub and 2 x Play1 speakers (set to surround) in the living section, then 1 x Play1 in the kitchen area which also contributes to the overall surround sound. When I change the volume on the Sonos app I can group all three speakers to change at the same time but when I use my TV remote it only changes the living area speakers and not the kitchen one, creating an imbalance of sound. Is there any way of setting up the 3 x Play1 speakers as an overall surround (rather than just two, left and right)?
Hello, I'm in the process of building a Sonos iPhone app with Swift using the Sonos API but have hit a stumbling block. I would like to detect a state / volume / metadata change on my app when someone uses a different app or the hardware buttons. I believe that subscribing to events is the way forward. I have copied in the reference link below. Subscribe—Subscribe to group namespaces to receive events when states change, such as changes to volume or playback status. https://developer.sonos.com/build/direct-control/connect/ I send a HTTP POST to the subscription path as described and get a 200 ok response back but have no idea what to do next. I've been using Xcode and testing with Postman. The callback url is registered on the developer site and OAuth token is verified. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul
Here is an observation that I do not how to fix. I have 4 Sonos Play:1 speakers and a Sonos Boost that is hard wired to my router. I have the Sonos app installed on my PC, iPhones, and iPads. If I decide to listen to Pandora stations, I have no issues with the songs skipping. But...when I play songs from a playlist on my phone, I seldom get a song to finish before randomly skipping to another. The only saving grace is when I play songs from my PC Sonos app. When I play songs from my PC they NEVER skip. At first I thought it was just my iPhone that was doing this, but I used my iPad and it did the same thing. So, the question is, is this an Apple problem or a Sonos problem. Either way, it appears that the only ones concerned about this are those that are affected by the constant random skipping. I'm leaning towards this being a Sonos problem because the same song playlists on my iPhone do not skip at all when I am using Blue tooth on my car stereo. So, in closing, has anyone else h
I am using an iPhone 7 running iOS 12.3.1 and Sonos app 10.3. When I select Room Settings within the Settings menu, I receive the spinning wheel suggesting a wait is required and nothing appears for me to select. I went to my Mac desktop controller and noticed that the full Room Settings menu has been removed and I can only change EQ. I want to change the location of a speaker and need to rename it and run Trueplay. Is there a known bug in 10.3?
I created a Playlist but when a song is playing that I want to add and I tap : I don't get "ADD TO PLAYLIST " or any indication of being able to add it anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Is there a way to get a Sonos controller widget into the Notification Center on iOS for volume and play/pause/skip/back controls? This would avoid having to always open the sonos app and would be so awesome!
I have just read that Sonos is dropping the “on this iPhone” feature. This is deeply concerning to me because it will effectively render my two Sonos Play 1’s useless. I don’t subscribe to a subscription service because I like to own my music and support my local record store. Not being able to play from a phone will be so inconvenient. I don’t want to power up my laptop every time I want to listen to music throughout the house. Does anyone know how to get around this problem?
My Sonos kepts disconnecting from Spotify from all devices. From my MAC laptop it asked me to upgrade but I keep getting a Error 1100, which is not listed in the FAQ's. I can not seem to solve the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks, Steve
We really enjoying playing our TV through the Sonos sound bar/base and grouping in other Rooms so that we can hear what's happening on the TV while wondering the house - especially the kitchen. We'd like a way to "lock" a Group's volume levels together to behave like a master level, keeping them relative to one another and being able to bring them all up/down when using the TV remote or adjusting the volume on any of the Grouped Sonos speakers. Currently, when I use the TV remote to bring the Playbase volume down the Play5 speaker in the kitchen keeps blaring away making it impossible to talk between rooms. Conversely, while in the kitchen, I'd like the volume button on the TV Grouped Play5 to behave like a master volume slider again so I can lower the entire zone to make it possible to talk to family in the other room. The only way today I know to do this now is to open the app on my phone which is really inconvenient especially as I roam the house. So not sure if there i
I have had a sonos setup for years. Today I get a message on my controller telling me to “finish setting up my sonos account” to CONTINUE using my system. Help me understand why I paid thousands for this system, spent a large number of hours dealing with issues (setup and otherwise) only to be told I HAVE to log into the sonos servers to keep using my system. I’m not updating until I get clarity.
I just talked to support about how we can not set up a Sonos using a desktop application anymore. Why was this decision made? It seriously handicaps our ability to deploy systems to our customers. We deal with commercial customers who do not have wireless access to the networks that sonos is on, as well as residential customers with vlans separating the WIFI from the audio/video devices. Most of our customers will never even use the mobile sonos app as they will be operating their A/V systems from Crestron touch panels. Combined with the inability to set static addresses, sonos just continues to indicate that they don't want the business of the commercial and high end integrator. If sonos only wants to be selling to end users then that's fine otherwise they need to stop making things more difficult for integrator.
I allways browse by artist and then their albums in ordor of when they came out. Suddenly I have to scroll down a couple of hunderd albums because every album the artist appears on is shown by release date aswell. Can you please revert to the previous way of album listing when the appear on albums where below the original artist releases? It is verry anoying and i have had to swich to the spotify app, I prefere the sonos app but I am not going to scroll through a list of hunderds of albums for that one I wanted but couldnt remember the name of.
The icon is missing from the top of the screen in the notification area on a galaxy S8 that means I have to open the app to pause, go to next track etc Until yesterday, swiping down from the top of the screen would show a mini Sonos with the album cover, pause, next track Running One UI version 1.0, Android version 9 In Sonos settings, all the following are ON: Show notifications, Show lock screen controls, Allow vol on home screen, show app shortcuts. How do I get it back?
I have my Sonos controller on several iOS devices but after the most recent Sonos update I cannot start the Sonos Controller on my iPad with iOS 9.3.5. (it's an older iPad and iOS 9.3.5 is the most recent iOS for that device). I can start Sonos controller on my iPhone iOS 11.0.3 and then the iPad with iOS 9.3.5. picks that up and I can then continue to use the iPad with Sonos controller to choose music and so on. Not a huge thing and I have a work around but something is not working as it should, the Sonos 8.1 Software release notes say iOS 9 and higher. Can you let me know how to fix the problem?
ENHANCED PLAYLIST MANAGEMENT SUGGESTION: Provide a means to better manage user generated playlists. Functions such as sorting, duplicate finding, copying and merging user created playlists would be of real value. Maybe even provide a way to do this organization and editing without having to have a playlist in use. Just combining two playlists and identifying duplicates would be very helpful when assembling and updating a list of favorite songs for a particular listener, event, artist or genre.
my Sonos app wont run on the mac - message software is outdated
Hi. I'm probably missing something simple here so apologies in advance but im trying to link Amazon Music to my Sonos System but can't find it listed in "Add Music Services". This is not an Amazon prime streaming account but the basic music that I've bought and downloaded. The Amazon music app is installed and working fine. I'm going to around in circles trying to use the online guides so any assistance great fully received.
My paired Play 5's and sub have a good sound but the small drivers need assistance of tone controls or loudness filter when listening at contrasting volumes. When raising Play 5's volume from around 40/50% to higher, the bass treble boost feels too much, I got the impression that it is either on of off. Navigating multiple menus to manually switch off the loudness filter is awkward. There have been earlier posts with people stating that it is variable relative to volume. Approx 6 months before this post, I presented this as a question, to which a Sonos rep stated that loudness is not dynamic, they offered to forward the suggestion of linking loudness and volume to development. I searched for info on how Sonos crossovers etc work but found very little. Before I get the SPL meter and test tones out, can anyone can provide some juicy links to independent tests which demonstrate any differences at various volumes and filter settings?
Greetings to the developer. Could you tell us what's new in the updated 10.3? Thank you
