Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

Connect Amp (older model) has stopped working. Can't stay connected to network and green light is flashing on/off, despite multiple restarts. Any ideas?
Unbelievable that Sonos refuses to listen to their customers and bring out a white player. Why in the world would you buy a black one when all your other Sonos products you bought are white? I refuse to place an ugly black bar in my white interior. It's a white player or none. Don't they read the countless posts on this forum?
I have a number of clients that have installed Sonos in their bars/restaurants. A lot of them wanted us to recess an iPad into a wall (using Sonance mounts) and use the Rhapsody service exactly like a jukebox. The only issue is that the customers would constantly override the existing song by selecting "Play Now". Would you consider adding a "jukebox" setting that would only allow the user to "Add to Queue"? The "Play Now" feature is also an issue at my house when there is a party. Most people do not have the patience to listen to a song picked by another individual. I would love to be able to lock down this behaviour.
I used to be able to control individual volumes of each speaker in a group. It still works on my Android but no longer from my PC (windows)...why?
So i have a bridge, two connect devices and one Play 3. I am thinking about getting a google home and a chrome cast to connect up to my Sonos environment. I would like to have the google home to tell it to play music put have that sound play thru my sonos. I was thinking that i could could connect the chrome cast audio to the input in on a connect device and then use the google home to select what I want to hear but play thru the chrome cast. while i understand that there are rumors that Sonos might work with google or echo.... i really would like to get this setup ... looking to just be able to walk in and say play my music list. Any thoughts on if this would work?
Just been given the basic Amazon Dot for Christmas but can see no way to connect to my Play 1. Any ideas? Pay 1 has no bluetooth and is connected by W-Fi to my PC and internet. Is it possible to use Play 1 with Amazon Dot??
Checked on the status of my order. Status of my delivery is "Processing". How does that relate to delivery status. I paid for next day delivery and it has been 2 days and I fear the speakers haven't been shipped yet.
Good afternoon. New member, seasons greetings to you all. Now here we go, I switched on my study this morning as I do each day. Connect is flashing white LED. Powered off, waited 30sec, powered on & same thing. Powered off & left it while I did some work & tried again about an hour later. All apps; iPad, Phone & Mac can't connect. Tried a factory reset, first attempt Connect went into flashing orange/white. Next attempt same but eventually it started flashing green - progress. Tried to set up on my HTC phone, it went through the motions, stated that it had found a new Connect. Process never completed. Tried setting up on my MacBook, and same thing, gets as far a prompting to press Play/Vol up, App says Connecting please wait etc... spins its wheels forever, all the while the Green LED is flashing. Then eventually throws up a not connected dialog, your product was not found. Tried the whole process o few times now and always ends up the same result. Some technical s
Two nights ago, I had a Playbar, a Play:3, and 3 Play:1s stolen from my apartment. The police are working on the case with the serial numbers provided (yeah right), but I think I read somewhere that perhaps my account info, like Spotify and Google information might be stored in the speakers. Is that accurate? What steps should I take to protect myself?
I own many Sonos speakers and would like to maintain my Sonos ecosystem, but instead of spending nearly $1,000 for the 2nd Gen PLAY:5s I plan to buy high-quality Dynaudio Emit M20 speakers for the same price because the sound is superior. Can the Connect:AMP power the M20s? Anyone have experience with similar speakers? Thanks!
Hi, sorry for reposting. I coundn`t figure out where to delete my other post about this issue, and wanted to post it here instead. I just got a Harman Kardon Onyx studio 3, as a christmas present from work. I currently own a Sonos play 5, sub and play 1. My question; is it possible to connect the Harman Kardon to my sonos setup using a sonos connect? I would think the Harman Kardon has a built in amp. Or should I use a connect AMP? The Harman Kardon has only a aux input, so I`m also wondering about if I can connect it using the digital output on the connect? Thanks for all answers!
Hi all First time poster so be gentle with me OK Set up so far Play 5 - Hallway Play 3 - Lounge (next to TV but not connected) Play 1 - Kitchen Rooms left Conservatory Dinning Room Guys I am stuck on where to go next. My problem is that I have a fairly good Yamaha AMP which I currently use with the TV and don't want to loose it. I want to link something up to the TV but the Sonos Soundbar is a little pricey for what it is. So do I get a Sonus AMP or Bridge to connect to my Yamaha and move this to the conservatory where I have a big TV and we do a lot of entertaining. Then by a cheap Soundbar for the TV. I am open to all sugestions Thanks in advance Mark
I know that all Sonos products don't have this feature in their streaming capability but I thought that maybe because the Play:5 has a headphone Jack that it doesn't need to do all the high-res digital to analog conversion as that's all done by the source already... Would someone be able to confirm this? Because if so - I may go get a Play:5. 😛
I absolutely love the Sonos Windows and Android apps and my new 5.1 and other Play speakers. You did an excellent job on this system! I also want to listen to all the great music sources while working at my PC and don't always want to bother everyone else turning on the real speakers (I develop Windows software at home). Please create a new "Play:Win" device that can be a Sonos "Room" which can send audio to any of the Windows Playback devices. E.G. headset, speakers, digital audio S/PDIF 5.1 etc. same as how a user can select audio playback output on a PC. You can build a Windows device driver to do this. This way I can use my local USB headset and you don't need to come out with those wireless headsets quite so soon. I don't want to have to also run WinAmp or Kodi or something to play my local FLAC files that I can already play via Sonos reading my NAS drive. And I want to use the great features in the Sonos app for internet radio, playlists, favorites etc. which would
I have a Play 5, connected wirelessly through a bridge which is connected via a network cable into my BT Router. The system is so flaky one day it works fine with all i-phones or i-pads controlling it the next day it says cannot connect to the server. The SONOS software is fully up to date & installed on my MAC, along with the I-Tunes Library on the same machine. This time however it will not connect at all. It just says cannot connect to Macintosh music, cannot find the server???? I cannot do anything with it. The Manage toolbar for sonos is all greyed out. At the moment my system may as well go in the bin 😞 Can someone please help??
Hi All First post....I had a BOOST wired to my router and 4 other PLAY:1's scattered around the house, all using SONOSNET. Everything working ok, and on the Network Matrix I see that the BOOST is the root bridge, and all other units are secondary nodes. Yesterday, I received the new SKYQ hub so switched everything off, installed the new hub, then turned things back on, starting with the BOOST first. Again, everything is working ok and the Network Matrix looks healthy. However, I can now see that the BOOST is a secondary node, and the other units are now tertiary nodes. The root bridge has disappeared. If i go to http://XXX.XXX.X.X:1400/status/showstp I can see that the designated root is the IP address of my new SKYQ hub, so looks like that is the new root bridge. I'm not worried as everything appear to be working ok, but just wondered out of interest why that has happened?
How do I display the currently connected wifi network name? Or can I assume that if the controller works, all the Sonos are on that network?? I have a router with 5g speed and lower speed with different network names. I want to make sure the Sonos are on the 5g wifi cuz I'm getting buffering errors
Hello, I've moved into a house with some odd wiring for ceiling speakers and am looking to add a volume control to 1 set. Currently there are 2 4-wire lines coming into the media closet. 1 4-wire is powering speakers in 5 rooms, I'm assuming these are daisy chained or something. Each room of these speakers has an independent volume knob. The other 4-wire line is powering 2 speakers in an individual room with no volume knob. (I guess somehow the previous people used those speakers as part of their video system?? no idea) Anywho, I can connect the 2 4-wire lines just like this image https://www.sonos.com/graphics/rn/FAQ269/connect_amp-4_speakers.png and sound comes out of all speakers. Since there is no volume control in the single room, it is always the loudest. Even if I turn up the volume to the max in all other rooms, that one room is still noticably louder than the rest of the house. I went to my local bigbox and bought a volume knob control. It has L/R +/- inputs
Not making this up. I'll never understand why they make this sort of nonsense, and why fools buy into the joke, but they do, including "journalists". http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2016/04/spruce-up-your-sonos-connect-with-nordosts-purple-flare/ "Cutting to the chase: the Nordost cable sounds better. It shines a light into music’s murkier corners exposing greater subtleties, most notably lengthening the tail of each piano note’s natural decay on Nils Frahm’s “Says”. Elsewhere, Fela Kuti’s funked-up protest jazz (Afrodisiac) sounded both more rhythmically fruitful, Brian Eno’s Small Craft on a Milk Sea less anaemic. And yet, paradoxically, the additional intensity brought by the Nordost wire also sounded more relaxed. Joining the dots between amped up fervour and greater repose is our third qualitative descriptor: effortlessness." Sigh.
Surprised that I can use TruePlay with the iPhone 7 Plus.
I'd like to find a wireless record turntable that will parr with my Sonos system. Has anyone got any recommendations or experience with this type of arrangement?
Ok, I have waited awhile to post this to isolate the problem and I am pretty sure that its the Soundbar causing the issue. Problem: TV turns on by itself. Seems to be more prevalent when the Soundbar is grouped with other speakers - might be only when its grouped. Things I have done to isolate the problem: - in the TV, turned off HDMI control to the TV - unplug all HDMI cables to the TV - removed remote controls from the living room. - covered the IR port on the TV with cardboard - unplugged the Soundbar but left the TV, Roku, Blu-ray plugged in and the HDMI cables connected. Other facts: - TV is an older Toshiba LCD - 40RV52U - Roku 3.0 is hooked up - A Toshiba Blu-ray player is attached - Over the air Antennae. - Sound bar is on its back *with its Rubber feet/mounting holes" facing down and the power/optical facing towards the TV and directly in front of the IR Port on the TV. - see pics - TV is remote is a Universal URC-R50 remote I trained to operate the TV.
There is no play/pause button on my CONNECT device. Does anybody know how to factory reset my device. 😃
Have a DeepBlue2 BT speaker and want to integrate it into a Sonos environment or get a PLAY:5. Assume I would get a CONNECT and use the optical out to connect to the DeepBlue2? Anyone done that? Will obviously lose the ability to control volume and power ON through the Sonos app, but will gain a BT wireless speaker with Sonos capability.
When we did some house construction three years ago, we had an A/V guy set up a Sonos system and a new Samsung TV. We opted not to get a full home theater, so he installed a CONNECT:AMP (I believe) and hooked it up to some in-ceiling speakers. But he didn't or couldn't connect the TV to those same speakers at the time, and never came back as he had said he would to wrap up the installation. (We won't be using that same company ever again.) Question 1: Can I run the Samsung audio through the CONNECT:AMP to the existing ceiling speakers? If the answer is NO, I will consider buying a Playbar, but that leads to Question 2: Reading the Playbar manual, it says that all components of my system (cable box, modem/router) have to be connected directly to the TV for it to work properly. I have an Xbox One controlling my TV and cable box. How does the Playbar fit in such a system? Thanks.
