Having just received my first Sonos set up (Playbase, Sub & 2 Ones), I am now thinking about linking in my old turntable. I won’t use it often and would be happy with a used Connect to do this. However, on the S2 overview page, it says 1st Gen Connect wont be compatible with the S2 App. Is there an obvious external way to tell the 1st & 2nd Gen Connects apart . Looking at various eBay listings, some have a mute button, others have a play/pause button. Is this a reliable way to differentiate the two, or not? I don’t want to end up buying something that prevents me using the S2 App once available.  Any input much appreciated.

 I see Sonos is now offering a return label for returning old equipment as part of the upgrade program. I upgraded two components earlier this year but at the time was either not sent or not aware of this service. How can i get two return labels for the old components? thanks  

Looking to start playing vinyl over my Sonos speakers. I have; Play:5 (Gen1) and Play:3, (potentially looking to upgrade both).  Looking for someone to help with the below / confirm my understanding.  If I plug in record player (with Phono preamp built in), directly to the Play:5, will this also allow it to stream through the Play:3 (and potentially Sonos One if I add) What is the benefit in connecting the record player to the Port rather than Play:5? (other than allowing to connect to 3rd party speakers, if record player has Phono preamp built in??). I assume it means the the Sonos speakers can be located away from the record player without anything lined in (other than power)?  The Amp vs Port would only be needed if record player doesn't have Phono preamp built in?    On a separate note, I have a Bridge and have done for a number of years. What was / is the function of this? This allowed internet to “go to” the speakers? Is it still required?    Thanks in advance!   

What is the speed of the Ethernet ports on the back on the AMP / Port devices?  I know music streaming isn’t bandwidth intensive but in my older Sonos ZP100 I’ve been using these ports to power a simple IP device.  The ZP100 ports are 10mbps and I was hoping the newer models were faster - but can’t find it in the documentation.  I’m hoping 10/100 - and Gigabit if I’m lucky.  Anyone know for sure?  

Hi, does anyone know if 8D music plays through Sonos speakers? If not will this potentially be part of the S2 release in June? Or is it a case that 8D only works with headphones? Thanks

I have a new Sonos port connected to a Yamaha receiver . I also have this grouped with a play 3 . (For the record i have dozens of Sonos components never have had a problem) When i play a pandora station Thru the port , grouped with the play3 , its terribly out of sync . Ive tried all kinds of different combinations , no luck . (Different Sonos ones, switched out the port for a connect etc) The port is connected to the receiver using a digital cable . Works fine by itself , but won’t sync when grouped . Ive read other posts about this problem , but i haven’t seen any resolution . Anybody know how to fix this ? Isn’t this supposed to work ? 

Just took delivery of my Sonos Port and I think there may be an issue with the Line-In connections. The red connector doesn’t seat in the port propery, it won’t go all the way in. In the app, Line-In is showing as disconnected.   Anyone had this issue?    

Using Sonos Connect to stream to an integrated amp via optical. I've always used Fixed for line-out level but now I see another option, Pass-Through.   Tried it, no apparent difference.   So what is the difference between Fixed and Pass-Through?

I have a ZP100 that no longer connects to network or at least does for 5 minutes (Sonos says it is toast). Has ANYONE seen a youtube video where the ZP100 is converted to be just an amplifier ?  The ZP100 is most analog of the amps, and it seems if you could fashion a volume control and some input switch, it would be possible. It would be a shame to waste an amplifier just because the network i/f is bad. Thanks  

After hours of connecting, hard wire, wireless, rebooting everything and then re-setting back to factory settings. Nothing. Both these units get to the end and come back with cant connect.  I have not yet re-set the bridge. Is this advisable?? So desperately wanting to go through all my old casettes and ply them over my old home made 12’’ speakers:) Oldskool. Any help would be great Cheers    

I have very low volume when playing e.g. you tube or NETFLIX through Line In. Any advice?

I’m looking to connect 4 speakers to my Sonos Connect:Amp (i can do that, right?) for around my pool area.  I’m leaning toward OSD RX640. Do i need an “impedance matching speaker control”, whatever that is?  I’ve read something that went way over my head (easy to do with this topic) and now I nervous/confused about ohms and the Connect:Amp. Any explanation for the newbie would be appreciated...

Hi   I’d like to play cassette tapes via a separates system deck through my Sonos system...do i need to use my Amp or can i simply plug into a Connect?  or do i need the new Sonos Amp?….   Ideally i’d like to lose my old hifi amp.and speakers ..so all i would have is a cassette deck...and maybe a turntable..which i can then play through my sonos speakers   Cheers   Peter

Has anyone had experience with a Sonos Sub in an outdoor patio environment?  This is covered and not exposed to rain, but the relative humidity (Houston, TX) can be pretty high.

Hey Sonos fam,   quick question about outdoor audio setup on my roof patio. I have two outdoor bose speakers connected to my Sonos:connect. One of the speakers crapped out on me and i was planning to replace it. The sound in general (from the working Bose speaker) has been underwhelming and sounds tinny and lacking any bass. I brought my Sonos move to the roof and got a taste of what good sound can be with the right amount of bass. I’be also been exploring the Sonos outdoor speakers from sonance but i can’t find a review that talks about quality of sound and bass level.  If the bass is good I’d rather move in that direction and not have to get a subwoofer for the roof (which would require more complicated wiring to hide it). So I’m down to these options and would love your opinion as to choose which one makes the most sense: swap out both Bose speakers for the Sonos outdoor speakers by sonance and connect to the connect:amp (no sub).,,(this is preferred but want to make sure the sound

Hi, my system (two original play 3s, two original play 5s, a connect amp, & a sub) are at present connected via a Sonos bridge. There is also a NAS drive that contains my music library connected via an Ethernet cable direct to my router.  I’ve just switched ISP & their new router is now in a downstairs location where I am unwilling to plug in the NAS drive due to it being so noisey when it powers up! I basically need to re-set my system connected to the new WiFi network & was wondering if I could connect the NAS into the bridge rather than the router? I realise it’s old no longer supported technology but seems to be working ok so intend to keep using it. Any suggestions please?  

Hi, I have a Sonos 5.1 speakers set and I am pretty happy about the experience. I am looking to buy a music streamer now, because I understand this will improve the experience with digital music. Since the Bluesound node is deemed superior to the Sonos connect, I wonder what happens if I connect the Node to my speakers. Will I get the 24 bit audio quality of the Node, through its DAC, or Sonos will downgrade it? In my experience so far, I get that downgrading if I use the Sonos app directly hooked to the speakers via wireless, but I don’t if I go through an external DAC.

Towards the end of last year I was being offered the trade-up deal on my “Connect”. I didn’t have time to deal with it around Christmas so I left it. Having heard recently about software upgrades being terminated for legacy products, I went back to take another look.  I was surprised to find that my “Connect” is now described as a “modern product” and the trade-up offer appears to have been withdrawn. What’s going on here? How can my device be more up to date now than it was last year?

I have the Sonos Port with a turntable and I would like to stream the turntable to my One SL’s and Apple TV and other AirPlay2 Speakers (Libratone Zipp), but I do not see that this is possible - am I missing something? All I can do is stream to Sonos speakers from the Sonos Port. Is there even such a device in existence that can take an analogue input and then output that signal to AirPLay 2 speakers? I do get that an iPad/iPhone can AirPlay out to certain Sonos devices - and I CAN stream audio from my Apple TV to the Sonos One SL’s. therefore making those Sonos devices considered “AIrPlay 2 compatible”, but I think I’m looking for something that doesn’t exist.

I just got the email of a $50 price increase coming January 9th for Port and Amp….. this maybe the beginning of out-pricing their product.  What’s everyone else’s thoughts on this? 

Hi allI am a complete technical dinosaur and need help!I want to purchase a turntable for my husband and have worked out that I need one with a built in preamp. That’s as far as I get because I now need to know whether we can use with our current Sonos set up.Can I plug the audio technica LP120XUSB into a Sonos Zone Player ZP100 in order to play through my Sonos speakers? We have 2 of these but only using one at the moment which works the built in ceiling speaker I think!. In the same space we then have 2 extra Play 1 speakers which pad out the sound a bit, as it’s a large room. if anyone has advice (in simple language) I’d be ever so gratefulmany thanks!
