Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

So, I goofed, forgot about tradein, and got a Port to replace a ZP80. I’ve noticed that prices of course have plummeted, for obvious reasons. My ZP80 has only been in use for three years - I bought it NIB, still plastic wrapped, in 2016. Other than the legacy issue, it should have years of life for someone not upgrading their whole system. The problem of course, is how does a potential buyer know I haven’t traded it in? How do I sell it and then not have someone claim it’s been recycled and demand money back? Anyone have ideas?
I have a Sonos Port that connected to my Onkyo 585 Receiver. My Port is connected to both my Onkyo and my turntable. When playing a record on the turntable, I get music through my Onkyo surround sound speakers that are hardwired to my Onkyo receiver. I also get sound to my all my Sonos speakers scattered around the house. It’s nice - play a vinyl record in the living room and hear it throughout the house. The problem is that I have to set the volume on the Onkyo for the living room speakers (all other Sonos speakers are controlled easily by the Sonos App). I set the line out to Fixed in the Sonos App, which should allow me to control the Port volume with the Onkyo remote or knob, but when I try to adjust it I get “volume set by Sonos” on the Onkyo receiver display. How do i control the volume of the Port with my receiver controls?
Recently purchased Play 5 and Rega Plana 1 Plus turntable with built-in pre-amp. When turntable is powered on, Play 5 has significant hum. Music from vinyl comes through, although the hum persists. No hum when Play 5 is set to streaming music via Wi-Fi. I’ve adjusted the line-in volume to multiple settings. I have (I believe) a high quality 3.5mm to RCA cable. Any troubleshooting suggestions?
I'm considering an aftermarket purchase from ebay, but would really like to know if the product(s) have been previously recycled. I'd also like to know how to tell if a product that is being sold for parts, actually doesnt work, or if it is user error and they are just fed up with the tech part of sonos.
I have just removed my bridge from my setup and all working fine on a wireless basis. This was originally due to the bridge failing (it was actually the power line (which can be replaced)). Is there any alternative use for the bridge eg to extend wifi? Any polite thoughts appreciated.
Anyone care to share his/her experience? Sound quality, possible delays, anything worth while mentioning? Replacing my Arcam amplifier with the Connect should preferably not result in material, notable loss of sound quality. Because that will trigger disappointment and frustration. Hi there! I’m trying to wrap my head around one issue with integrating Sonos and my Hi-Fi setup and I’m open for any advice or suggestions that might solve the issue: I have Sonos around my flat. In my living room I have a Hifi system with a turntable. So far, I either listen to my records or I stream. For that there are a pair of Play:5 sitting right next to my old loudspeakers. I wish to marry my stereo with Sonos. The reason I didn’t do it so far is the lag when streaming analog audio while using the Hifi system simultaneously. My space is very open, the rest of the flat lagging behind the main room is no option at all. My setup consists of a Pro-Ject Pre Box DS2 with two mono power amps behind. No I had the following thought; Putting Sonos in between pre- and power amp would get rid of the streaming lag, but at the same time all my analog audio would go through Sonos DAC. Am I right here? If this is right, the Sonos Port should have something like an “analog signal through” optio
I have a Bose Acoustimass 7 system with 5 double cubes and a powered sub. I want to add to Sonos system with new Sonos Amp. Possible? Issues? thanks
If I buy the Sonance ceiling speakers to use in my kitchen and connect them to the Sonos AMP do they have to play in a left/right stereo pair configuration or can they be configured to provide a mono type output similar to a single stereo speaker? I cannot place the speakers such that the listening positions will be right for a stereo pair output. I could use a couple of single stereo speakers but I have a slopped ceiling and I don’t see that any of those have pivoting tweeters.
I have just received a new Sonos 5 which I ordered after I was led to believe that my existing “legacy” Sonos 5 woud no longer operate as from May this year. Will the legacy product continue to work following the Sonos change in policy or I have I been suckered into buying a new product unnecessarily? My system is telling me that my device will “deactivate in 8 days”. What does that mean for ongoing use of the device?? Like many others, I have spent a lot of money on Sonos products over the years and I am extremely frustrated and disappointed by what has gone on here.
Currently have a Sonos Amp, and a Klipsch KSW 12, barely getting any bass from device. I realize that the Sonos is rated 8ohm, and the sub is 4 ohms. Have tried to turn power all the way up, phase is both set to zero. Have tried just LFE single connection, and also tried a 2-in-one connection. Wondering what issue might be?
I have a Sonos Port going into high end amplifier/speakers. Has anyone had success adding additional components to improve the sound of the Port (or Connect)? I was thinking of maybe an external DAC or Preamp - but something that would maintain volume control within the app. Has anyone had success with this? It seems most external components (DAC/Preamp) would move the volume control to the upstream device itself, and not from the Sonos App.. Dave
Hi All, I am a DJ wanting to connect my turntable and mixer to the Sonos speakers. I know through Sonos Connect there is a delay between the music played through the headphones and the actual music played out on the speakers. I have just noticed Connect has been replaced with Port so I am wondering if maybe this delay issue has been fixed with Port. Thank you
Hello, I am looking for a replacement power supply for the sonos port. Does anyone have recommendations ? The user manual specifies : ”Use only the included power supply (using a third-party power supply will void your warranty).” but there is no replacement sold on Sonos’ website… I am pretty suprised a how fragile the power suplly cord is for a unit of this price.
I opted to replace my ZP80 that I feel like I’ve had forever and take advantage of the 30% off deal. Pretty simple configuration: The ZP80 was connected to my Denon AVR 4306 via the digital optical connector. I only used it to stream audio from SONOS to my Golden Ear speakers. So out with the ZP80, in with the Port, digital coax out to the Denon, retraining myself on assigning inputs on the Denon. It sounds awesome, me thinking there’s a definite difference in quality from the ZP80 set up. But I wonder….is that my $ rationalizing? Would analog out from the Port be a better option? Having gone full-on streaming long ago, the only other input into the Denon is a Blue-ray player so, unless I wanted multi-room FM audio, I can’t think of another use for the Port at this point. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!
Hello Sonos, For the past few years I've used the line input on a Connect:Amp to power a left and right wired speaker with no issues. Recently, I started to notice a clear and obvious major delay from the line input source to the wired speakers. I do not have any other Sonos speakers connected wirelessly. I originally thought this was from my computer or a USB preamp I have for conference calls, but if I test the actual wired input (1/8" male jack from my computer headphone out to RCA left/right male in to the Connect:Amp) simply by touching the input to hear a buzz...there is now a 5 second delay to the wired speakers. This was not the case for 5+ years and just started happening about 3 weeks ago. I should note that streaming music from Apple Music or Spotify has no delay...I can press start and stop and the music stops immediately and pairs with other Sonos Play:1 and 3's I have. Only when I use the line input directly to the wired speakers is there an issue. Is there a new fi
I just moved a speaker to another room. How do I change its name so I don't have multiple speakers with the same name?
Hi i have invested heavily in Sonos and have 2 x Connect Amps, 4 connects and 2 x Sonos 1’s as a stereo pair. I want to add AirPlay to my setup so am thinking that if I add an Apple Airport Express, which now supports AirPlay 2, I should be able to stream content from my iPhone to my Sonos from apps such as BBC Sounds? Will this work or have I got this wrong? Thanks James
Sonos has just advised me that my ZonePlayer 100 will become a “Legacy Product” after May and will no longer be supported with software upgrades. Must I, in fact, replace it with a qualifying component if I want to continue driving my treasured Vienna Acoustics speakers as part of my Sonos system? What will happen if I leave the ZonePlayer in place? Will the rest of my system (two One SL’s & a Play 1) be affected negatively? The ZonePlayer still works perfectly, and I can't afford a new AMP amplifier, which will simply do the same thing and offer a bunch of other options I don't need. Will appreciate some advice.
I have received an email from you, which includes the serial number of my unit, which informs me that my Connect is now a legacy product. I an utterly amazed and disappointed to receive this message as I only bought this unit last September. I find this totally unacceptable for a unit I have owned for only 4 months. Please can you therefore answer the following questions:- Should I demand my money back from the shop I bought it from or from you? I also bought a Playbase and associated base unit. How long before these become legacy products? How can I have any faith in Sonos after finding the expected future life of my unit is so short?
I do hope guys over at Sonos are reading this. If there’s one thing that I feel is lacking from the brand, then it’s a cheaper alternative to the Sonos Sub. One that will fit well with a pair of Sonos One speakers, both in terms of sound and price. Sonso One is what got me into the brand. It’s compact and minimalist. Works well with every environment. While I do have the connect and (as far as I understand) could get a 200-300 quid subwoofer on amazon with no problems, they all look like trashy 90s boxes. Please Sonos, make a cheaper version of the Sonos Sub.
If you change your mind on the Trade Up program Sonos is NO HELP.. They Brick your equipment and say there is nothing they can do. Just because they have a poor process I am out of equipment and they have been no help to resolve.
Has anyone here gone through the recycling process, confirmed it, had the 21 day countdown clock initiated, and actually received their 30% discount code? I have done so, and yet there is no promo code or discount applied during checkout, shown in my account, etc.? Thanks.
I have two eligible devices to trade up and I do want to make new purchases but I’m not in a position to do so yet. How long do I have?
Just received the legacy email that tells me that half my 10 unit system will be obsolete from May. So it appears that I can either pile more money into Sonos, accept that my modern equipment (less than 2 years old) will no longer be updated because I have the audacity of being a long term customer or go somewhere else. So I can make an informed decision Sonos must now publish the support windows for all products currently available. At least try to recover some credability.
