If I’m streaming a service through the Port at a particular quality, say CD-quality 44.1 kHz 16 bit, is the Port’s coaxial digital out replicating that quality exactly?  In other words, if I’m using a stream at CD quality (and that Sonos supports) am I getting exactly the same output as I would from the digital output of a CD player/transport? I’m primarily a Spotify user, so if the answer is yes, once Spotify Lossless goes live, and Sonos supports, I think I can finally ditch the CD player, right?(To answer the obvious question, yes, I use an external DAC which I really like.  The DAC in the Port is pretty good, but there are even better ones out there.) 

Hi. I have a beam which I use often. I also have an old school vinyl set up in my other room. Is it possible to connect a zp90 to my amps auc so that I can stream music through my amp? if not, what is the best way to do this? thanks in advance. R 

I currently have a Play 5 and a Move and was wondering the following:Can I run an RCA stereo cable from my DJ mixer ‘master out’ into the Sonos Amp to incorporate my Sonos speakers into my home DJ set up?Thanks

Hello, I’m purchasing a house that has a room wired with 5 ceiling speakers. The speakers are Pyle PDIC1661RD. If I connect two speakers in parallel to each channel, will Sonos Amp be able to drive them? Will the audio output/volume suffer, or will it be adequate? Any gotchas?Speaker specs:MAX Power Output: 200 Watt Impedance: 16 Ohms Sensitivity: 88 dB Frequency Response: 70Hz-20kHzGiven the mediocre speakers, my use case is ambient music with iPhone via Airplay. My western digital mybook died and I need to replace it.  I tried using a WD My Cloud Home, but couldn’t get my sonos S1 to access the drive.  I tried to use WD customer service to resolve the problem, but found them lacking, and returned it.  I subsequently learned that I could have changed the settings on the drive (SMB1, SMB2, SMB3), but it was not easy to find that information.  Can anybody recommend an NAS that will work seamlessly with Sonos that is available today, and, preferably one that is easy to install and setup?  Any help would be appreciated.

Exactly the same problem as mentioned in the ‘Port Line-Out very low volume’ topic but alas unanswered there - there appears to be confusion between using the Port to drive the HiFi or the Hifi to feed into Sonos… I guess the latter is more common, and I am unusual (but not unique) in using Sonos to drive the HiFi.I have a TEAC series 300 component HiFi and a Play:5 in the same room. If I group both to expand the sound stage (not exactly surround sound but...) there is a great disparity between the Sonos Setting for the Play and the (much greater) volume setting for the Port. The HiFi volume is set to a normal listening level for the other Hifi components - CD, cassette, DAB, and switching between them requires no volume adjustment. Switching to Sonos requires either the the Port Sonos volume to be set near max, or the HiFi volume greatly increased, which causes consternation if you switch to another source without readjusting… Also if you increase the group volume, the Play volume ove

Sonos v2 connect not working? Well I thought mine was either faulty or otherwise completely bricked. It would not reset. There was no green light, however hard I tried to reset it.I disconnected reconnected via Ethernet to my router. I pressed the play and vol+ buttons a few times. Eventually the Sonos app picked it up, but again still not working , I had to give it a few goes. Eventually the Sonos app picked it up successfully. Whilst the Sonos connect device  didn’t appear in the app as a registered device, the app then indicated it was performing an update. All my other Sonos products subsequently disappeared from the app as my registered devices. I left it 5 mins then the Sonos app prompt me to disconnect power from the connect, which I did , I then reattach to power whilst still connected  to Ethernet and the app indicated it was continuing with the update and setup process.  I subsequently had to rename it, as if from new. The app eventually then started to show all my other Sono

I will be connecting a turn table to the Sonos amp in my basement. I have two floor standing speakers there. I was hoping to wire two passive bookshelf speakers in a different room (upstairs, formal living room) to the Sonos amp as wellto get that analog sound in a different room.It would be ideal to adjust the volume separately for two bookshelf speakers in the other room without affecting the basement speakers. I have read some about line level controller or connecting a mixer two the speaker wires then to the bookshelf speakers. I suppose even connecting a Sonos port would give me that control, but that is getting pretty expensive. I am even considering unplugging the speakers when we do not want them on upstairs. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

I have a den (that has a Port hooked to an 8 channel Russound amp) next to an outdoor deck. When I sit 30’ from this den on the deck I can connect my phone to an upstairs wifi router / network with decent but occasional spotty connection. The router is 50’ from where I sit on the deck. If I put a Boost next to the Port in the den (30’ from where I sit outside) will this improve my connection with my Sonos App on my phone ? Or does the Port itself send a great signal and adding a Boost next to it would serve no additional benefit ? Thanks !!!

So out on my deck and have a pair of outdoor speakers hooked up to Amp. Had a Connect Amp before but upgraded to S2. I had read or was told to set all Sonos speakers to max volume of 80%, which I had done for Amp as well. However even Sonos Radio HD it is really soft and have to turn it halfway just to hear anything.  This amp is supposed to be more powerful but feels less so. My question that is somewhat related is the 80% necessary with an Amp or not? Also, let’s use our theoretical “10” scale. Does that mean that my 10 starts out as an 8 and so if I have to turn it half way it’s a 4 or does it work differently?  Feel bad moving the slider so far as I am used to more traditional speaker/radio combos. 

I wondered if people have experience with a similar set up. I plan to have 2 turntables and a mixer for DJing. From the mixer to the Sonos amp with phono leads which powers 2 ceiling speakers.  The question is before I set this all up is if I am not pushing the sound to a multiroom set up and just going via the amp to the speakers will there be a delay? Obviously the sound through the headphones and the speakers would need to match. Lot of money to spend as a test!

Looking at Amp for existing outdoor speakers as well as one for hooking up to existing high end floor speakers. Want to optimize the output without overkill. Does anyone have a recommendation for either of these?

I have a home full of S1-only kit but like many others I am now effectively barred from buying any more new S2 Sonos kit due to the need to either have separate S1 and S2 systems, or brick my current kit for a 30% upgrade discount to S2. This all seems to be due to memory limitations unrelated to the actual amp and speaker properties of the S1 devices. So perhaps there is a fix for the memory issue to allow these still highly capable S1 units to operate in an S2 world?It would seem to me a fairly simple network solution for Sonos to launch an “S1/S2” interface that sits in the distributed Sonos network and looks to the S2 network as an S2 network and looks to the S1 system as an S1 system, allowing interoperability of devices with control over all S1 devices. The necessary logic and memory could all sit in one (master) interface device for S1 (slave) devices, effectively creating in software a “virtual” S2 version of each S1 device. Hello! Can someone confirm whether a Sonos Amp will be compatible with a pair of Polk Audio L100s? The Sonos documentation for the Amp says “Your speakers’ power rating should be at least 125W for 8 ohm speakers, and at least 200W for 4 ohm speakers.”The Polk L100s are 4 ohm speakers and the documentation lists the Steady State Recommended Amplifier Power as 30-160W.I would think that would mean the Sonos Amp would be too powerful for those speakers, but I’ve even seen this combination recommended before online.Can anyone confirm whether this combination will work?Thanks!

It seems to be well known that the Port suffers from a problem with the Variable Output sound quality.Has there been any firmware upgrades that fix this? What is the likelihood that this will be solved going forward?I am about to invest in a complete system for our new house. Right now, because of this issue, I am leaning towards a Bluesound solution. But like the Arc more than the Soundbar 2i, so would like to use Sonos. But need the Port for interface with a high-end audio system and cannot compromise on the sound quality.

Hello I have a question,I currently have a Sonos Arc, sub and 2x Sonos one in the living room.in addition one Simphonysk in the bedroom.If I will add a port with a turntable (with its preamp of course), do I need specific speakers (pre-amplified of course) to connect directly to the port, or can I cast the vinyl directly to the other existing Sonos speakers that I already have?In general, would be better to connect the turntable to a sonos five or to a port?Any differences in the DAC between the 2 components?thanks

Looking to install 3 amps in pool house so yes protected from the elements but not temperature controlled.  Will this be an issue for cooling in the summer?  Not worried about winter because they’ll be brought in.

From the way Sonos has grown and improved over the last few years I can see them launching headphones soon.Similar concept as the Roam in the way it can be docked (+charge) when not in use, It would group to a room as the Ikea SYMFONISK Sound remote does, when you pick it up from the dock it could auto mute the room (toggle option in the settings) - diverting audio to the headphones. Headphones should have Bluetooth like the Move and Roam for when out of the house.Not something I will personally use but I can see a lot of elderly customers and people who have cinema setups using this.Few thoughts on how it could work:Toggle option for auto muting (or not) the grouped room upon removal from the dock Option for a user to be able to listen to headphones whilst another user is still listening to the existing Sonos speakers, same audio coming out of all (good for a user who is hard of hearing) Headphone dock could have an audio input External charger as well as dock More in depth EQ setting

Hello Everyone...I am looking at a Andover Audio SpinBase amp/speaker for a spare bedroom. My turntable will be connected to the Spinbase amp/speaker which I’d like to connect to the Sonos system in my house. There is only a Line Out and Headphone Out on the SpinBase. Both are single 3.5mm outlets. Can I connect a Play 5 using just one 3.5 mm cable from the SpinBase to the Play 5 to connect my vinyl to my house Sonos system? Thanks.
